There is a difference between a fragrance being good and a fragrance reaching you, and almost nobody is told what it is. When someone writes to me and says the reed diffuser smells wonderful up close but they cannot smell it from the bed, my first answer is always the same: nothing is wrong, and you did not buy the wrong thing. A reed diffuser is a passive object. It holds oil, the reeds draw it up, the room's warmth and air take it away at their own pace. It has no way of carrying scent to you, and it was never built to.
So the real question is not which fragrance is stronger. It is which job you want done. If you want a quiet, pleasant presence in the corner of a bathroom or beside a bed, a reed is still the most elegant thing I sell, and I would rather you kept it than replaced it. Will an ultrasonic make my bedroom damp?
It adds humidity, and how much you notice depends on your climate and your room. In a dry season or an air-conditioned room that is often unremarkable or even pleasant; in a humid coastal monsoon it is more noticeable, and running it for shorter sessions rather than all night is the sensible response. The related trade-offs, in our own words, are that mixing oil with water can dilute the scent, and that in hard-water areas the minerals can settle as a fine white dust on nearby surfaces. Can I run the Rs 299 Hotel Collection in my Safar?
No, and this is one distinction we are strict about. The Rs 299 Hotel Collection is a water-based fragrance made for ultrasonic machines, where it is mixed with water in the tank: the Boond, the Sukoon and the Megh. The Safar and the Vaayu are waterless systems that diffuse pure undiluted oil, and each ships with its own blends included in the box - three hotel-inspired waterless blends with the Safar, four with the Vaayu. Putting a water-based fragrance into a waterless machine is not a way to save money; the two formats are not interchangeable and you would simply be using the wrong liquid. How long does the Safar's oil last, and what do refills cost?
That is a question we send to WhatsApp rather than answer here, and the reason is that we will not publish a number we cannot stand behind. Consumption depends on how often you run it and at what setting, and we do not have a verified published figure for run time, refill frequency or monthly running cost for either the Safar or the Vaayu. What we can tell you plainly is what comes in the box: the Safar at Rs 3,999 arrives with three hotel-inspired waterless blends, chosen from one of three bundles, and the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 arrives with four.
