A coverage figure describes one connected volume, and nothing else
This is the single most misunderstood number in home fragrance, so it is worth stating without any softening. When any machine is rated for a volume - and the SOSA Vaayu is rated for approximately 1000 cubic metres - that figure describes one continuous body of air into which the machine is releasing fragrance. It is not a radius, it is not a floor plan, and it does not travel. At a 10 ft ceiling, 1000 cubic metres is 35,300 cubic feet, which is about 3,500 sq ft of continuous floor. That is a large amount of connected air, and if your home genuinely is one open volume of that size, one machine holds it. What the figure cannot do is pass through a shut door. Fragrance moves with air, air does not move through a closed door in any useful quantity, and so a closed room is simply not part of the volume the machine is scenting. This is why a machine placed in a hallway does not scent bedrooms at night, when the doors are shut and the ACs are running and each bedroom has become its own sealed little atmosphere. That is six separate volumes in one flat, and only the first of them can be served by a machine standing in the hall. If your bedroom doors genuinely stay open all day and night, then that part of the flat is one volume and you can treat it as such, but be honest about the hours when the ACs run and the doors shut, because those are usually the hours you most want the room to smell of something.

Honest notes before you spend anything. A reed diffuser is passive, and its scent is strongest at the bottle. There is a difference between a fragrance being good and a fragrance reaching you, and almost nobody is told what it is. When someone writes to me and says the reed diffuser smells wonderful up close but they cannot smell it from the bed, my first answer is always the same: nothing is wrong, and you did not buy the wrong thing. A reed diffuser is a passive object. It holds oil, the reeds draw it up, the room's warmth and air take it away at their own pace. It has no way of carrying scent to you, and it was never built to.
So the real question is not which fragrance is stronger. It is which job you want done. If you want a quiet, pleasant presence in the corner of a bathroom or beside a bed, a reed is still the most elegant thing I sell, and I would rather you kept it than replaced it. If you want the whole room to smell of something when you walk in, that needs a machine that actively moves scent into the air, and the honest first step there is one of our ultrasonics, which costs less than our waterless diffuser does. If you want it strong and true right where you sit or sleep, with no water and no dilution, that is the Safar. And if your living space is genuinely large or open-plan, that is the Vaayu, which I will happily tell you is far too much machine for a 10 by 12 bedroom.

Will one SOSA Vaayu scent my entire three-bedroom flat?
It will scent everything that is connected to the room it stands in, and nothing that is behind a closed door. The Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated for approximately 1000 cubic metres of connected air, which is genuinely a lot: at a 10 ft ceiling that is around 3,500 sq ft of continuous floor, far more than the connected part of most flats. So in terms of capacity it is more than enough for your living, dining and kitchen. What it cannot do, and what no machine of any price can do, is push fragrance through a shut bedroom door. For a typical 3BHK, that means a Vaayu would be scenting a 127 cubic metre connected area that a Sukoon at Rs 1,899 could handle, while your three bedrooms still each need their own source. That is why we usually route a flat like yours to a smaller machine plus reeds, and keep the Vaayu for homes with a genuinely large connected volume.
Can I just leave all the internal doors open so it becomes one volume?
You can, and while the doors are open it genuinely does behave as one larger connected volume, which is worth knowing. The difficulty is that the hours you most want a bedroom to smell lovely are usually the hours the door is shut: at night, with the AC running, or when someone is sleeping, working or wants privacy. An open-door strategy also means recalculating your connected volume upward, because you are now asking one machine to fill the living, dining, kitchen, passage and three bedrooms as a single body of air, which for a 1,200 sq ft flat at 10 ft is 12,000 cubic feet, about 340 cubic metres. That is a bigger job than the machine you were about to buy for the hall. Our honest view is that doors are part of how a home works and it is easier to put a small source in each room than to rearrange the household around a diffuser.
Does every room have to have exactly the same fragrance?
It does not, and in a mixed setup it cannot be exactly the same, so it is better to aim for a coherent identity than an identical molecule. The reeds and the water-based Hotel Collection are different fragrance formats: the Hotel Collection runs in ultrasonic machines only, while the reed diffusers come in their own range. What works beautifully is pairing by character so the transitions feel intentional rather than accidental. If your machine runs the 1 Hotels-inspired register of cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves, a Mountain Breeze reed of Himalayan pine, sage and cedar in the bedrooms sits in the same woody-green world. If the machine runs the Shangri-La-inspired jasmine, green tea and white tea, a Garden Bloom reed of British rose and night-blooming jasmine carries the floral thread through. What would I need for the Aangan, and is it worth it for a flat?
The Aangan at Rs 25,999 is an HVAC nebulising diffuser designed for roughly 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, and it works by putting fragrance into ducted air that your building already circulates, which is why it is the only genuine way to have one uninterrupted fragrance in every room from a single system. That also tells you when it is wrong: if your home has no central air handling, there is nothing for it to feed into, and a flat with split ACs in each bedroom is exactly that situation. It suits a villa, a large house built with ducted air conditioning, or a commercial-style property. Is putting a diffuser in the hallway a good way to reach several rooms?
It is a common instinct and usually a poor placement. A hallway is a transit space with very little of its own volume, doors opening off it and often a draught running down it from the front door or a stairwell, so fragrance released there is carried away rather than allowed to build, and the rooms it is meant to serve are closed off from it most of the time anyway. The better principle is to place a machine inside the largest connected volume you actually occupy, near the middle of it, at table height and away from fans, vents and outside doors. That means the living and dining area for most homes. Then treat every closed room as its own small project with its own source, which for Rs 749 a room is a very inexpensive way to finish the job properly.
