The honest answer to this question is that we cannot tell you, and the useful part of this page is the explanation of why nobody honestly can. Fragrance consumption is not a property of the machine. It is a property of your house, your schedule and your setting, in that order, and two owners of the same machine can be using quantities that have almost nothing to do with each other. So here is what physically drives it, why a single published figure would mislead the reader most likely to believe it, every price that genuinely is published, and the method that gives you your own real number in a fortnight.
Quick answers — read this first
How much fragrance oil does a home scent machine use? There is no published consumption rate for the SOSA Vaayu, no millilitres-per-hour or per-day figure, no blend duration and no machine lifespan, and we will not estimate one. The reason is not evasion, it is that consumption is not a property of the machine at all. It is decided by three things about your house and your habits: the volume of air being scented, the number of hours a day the schedule runs, and the intensity setting. A machine holding a gentle level across 425 cubic metres for two hours a day is doing a completely different amount of work from the same machine holding a higher level across 850 cubic metres for fifteen hours a day, and no single figure describes both. What is published: the Vaayu is Rs 11,999 and includes four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box. Ongoing supply is arranged on WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
What physically makes a scent machine use more or less oil? Four things, and the first three are the ones you set yourself. One, the volume of air: a machine is holding a concentration in air, so more air needs more fragrance to reach the same perceived level. Floor area times ceiling height gives cubic feet and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres, so at a ten foot ceiling 1,500 square feet of connected space is about 425 cubic metres and 3,000 square feet is about 850. Two, the hours the schedule runs: three hours a day and fifteen hours a day are not comparable totals. Three, the intensity setting, which is the largest single lever and the one most homes have too high. Four, and less obvious, how fast the air in that volume is being replaced - open windows, an exhaust fan running, a door onto a balcony that stays open. Air that leaves the house takes the fragrance with it, so a well-ventilated house reaches the same level using more.
Why will nobody tell me how long a bottle of fragrance lasts? Because an honest answer would have to be a range so wide it stops being information, and a narrow answer would be invented. Duration is just consumption seen from the other end, so it inherits every variable that consumption has: air volume, schedule hours, intensity setting and air exchange. The same bottle in a 425 cubic metre connected volume on a two hour evening schedule at a low setting, and in an 850 cubic metre volume running morning to midnight at a high one, are not going to behave alike, and the reader most likely to trust a published average is the one whose house sits furthest from it. Our position is stated plainly: no standalone waterless refill bottle is published for the SOSA Vaayu, so we quote no refill price, no consumption rate, no running cost and no blend duration, not estimated and not roughly. What we can do is show you how to measure your own in a fortnight.
The short answer
Short answer: There is no published consumption rate for the SOSA Vaayu, no millilitres-per-hour, per-day or per-month figure, no blend duration and no machine lifespan, and we will not invent, estimate or hedge one. No standalone waterless refill bottle is listed for it, so there is nothing to quote, and any figure you find elsewhere for a machine like this was made up by somebody. The more useful point is that consumption is not a property of the machine. A scenting machine is holding a concentration of fragrance in a body of air, so what it uses is decided by the body of air, by how long it is asked to hold that concentration, and by how high the concentration is set. Driver one, the volume of air being scented. Floor area times ceiling height gives cubic feet and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres, so at a standard ten foot ceiling 1,500 square feet is 15,000 cubic feet and about 425 cubic metres, 2,000 square feet is about 566, 2,500 about 708, 3,000 about 850 and 4,000 about 1,133. Two owners describing their homes as villas can therefore be scenting volumes that differ by a factor of two or more, and only the connected volume counts, because coverage assumes one continuous body of air and no machine passes a closed door. Ceiling height compounds it quietly: a 600 square foot living room at a twenty foot ceiling is 12,000 cubic feet, about 340 cubic metres, which is a third of the Vaayu's approximately 1000 cubic metre rating in a room that looks modest on a plan. Driver two, the hours a day the schedule actually runs. An hour in the morning and two hours before the family gets home is three hours a day. A single long schedule from morning until late at night is five times that, and both are legitimate choices that produce totals with nothing to do with each other. Driver three, the intensity setting, which is the largest single lever and the one most homes leave too high, because you go nose-blind to your own house within about twenty minutes and every adjustment anybody makes is upward. Driver four, less obvious and genuinely real, the rate at which the air in that volume is replaced. Open windows, a running exhaust fan, a balcony door left open and a house with strong cross-ventilation all carry scented air out and unscented air in, so the machine is topping up a volume that keeps emptying. Air-conditioning recirculates rather than replaces air, which is why a sealed cooled house behaves differently again. What is genuinely published: the Vaayu is Rs 11,999 and includes four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box, chosen as Bundle A, B or C, so there is no fragrance line at purchase at all. For the ultrasonic route the water-based SOSA Hotel Collection is Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for a 100ml refill and Rs 1,799 for a Pack of 7 at 15ml, which is 105ml in total, so the arithmetic completes today at about Rs 19.93 per millilitre for a single 15ml bottle, about Rs 9.99 per millilitre for the 100ml refill and about Rs 17.13 per millilitre across the pack. Reed diffusers include their oil in the price from Rs 749. The method for your own figure takes a fortnight. Mark the starting level with a strip of masking tape and write the date on it. Run your ordinary schedule untouched for fourteen days without changing the setting. Measure what has gone in millilitres. Divide by fourteen for a daily rate and multiply by thirty for a month. Multiply that by your cost per millilitre. To use less, turn the intensity down first, shorten the schedule second and scent a smaller connected volume third. The Rs 299 water-based bottle never goes into a Vaayu, which runs waterless oil. Ongoing Vaayu supply is arranged on WhatsApp, and asking before you buy is the sensible order. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is not affiliated with any hotel brand. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

A villa is not one room, it is a set of connected volumes and a set of closed doors, and the two need different answers. Whole-home scenting means one fragrance held evenly across the part of the house you actually live in - the entrance, the living room, the dining - running on a schedule so it is already there when someone walks through your front door, and already there when you come home yourself. The bedrooms, the guest bathroom and the study get their own quiet solutions. Nobody in the house has to remember anything.
How much fragrance oil will a scent machine actually get through in my villa?
We cannot tell you, and the reason is more useful than a number would be.1. Nothing is published, so nothing is quoted. No standalone waterless refill bottle is listed for the SOSA Vaayu, so there is no consumption rate, no millilitres-per-day figure, no blend duration and no lifespan we may state - not estimated, not typically, not roughly. 2. Consumption is not a property of the machine. A machine holds a concentration of fragrance in a body of air. What it uses is set by the size of that body, how long it is asked to hold the concentration, and how high the concentration is. 3. Driver one: the volume of air. Floor area times ceiling height gives cubic feet, divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres. At ten feet, 1,500 sq ft is about 425m³, 2,000 about 566m³, 3,000 about 850m³. Only the connected volume counts, because no machine passes a closed door. A 600 sq ft room at twenty feet is about 340m³ on its own. 4. Driver two: the hours the schedule runs. An hour in the morning plus two before the family gets home is three hours a day. Morning until midnight is five times that. 5. Driver three: the intensity setting, the biggest lever and the one most homes leave too high, because you go nose-blind to your own house within twenty minutes and every adjustment is upward. 6. Driver four: how fast the air is replaced. Open windows, a running exhaust, a balcony door - scented air leaves and unscented air arrives, so the machine is topping up a volume that keeps emptying. 7. What genuinely is published. The Vaayu is ₹11,999 with four hotel-inspired blends in the box. The water-based Hotel Collection for ultrasonics is ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for 100ml and ₹1,799 for a Pack of 7 at 15ml, which is 105ml, so about ₹19.93, ₹9.99 and ₹17.13 per millilitre. Reeds from ₹749 include their oil. 8. Your own figure, in a fortnight. Tape the level, write the date, run your normal schedule for fourteen days without touching the setting, measure what has gone, divide by fourteen, multiply by thirty. 9. Ongoing Vaayu supply is arranged on WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. The ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into a Vaayu. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: no consumption rate or blend duration is published for the Vaayu and we will not invent one - your air volume, your schedule hours, your intensity setting and your ventilation decide it, and a fortnight of tape and a date gives you your own figure. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

What actually decides consumption
Why consumption belongs to your house rather than to the machine, the four things that physically drive it, and the published prices and simple method that let you produce a real number for your own home instead of borrowing somebody else's average.
Why this works at home
Not a machine specification - a property of your house and your schedule
The whole-home answer: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³, and it arrives with four hotel-inspired blends in the box. A single bedroom or guest bathroom starts on reeds from ₹749.
Why this is not a number the machine has, and why we will not supply one anyway
Start with the plain position, because everything else follows from it. No standalone waterless refill bottle is published for the SOSA Vaayu. That means there is no refill price, no millilitres-per-hour or per-day consumption rate, no monthly usage figure, no statement of how long a blend lasts and no machine lifespan that we may state. Not estimated. Not typically. Not roughly. Not as a range that quietly does the same job. We would rather this page said less and was worth more, and we would rather you knew that before you bought than after. But the deeper point is the one worth your time, because it applies to every brand in this category and not only to us. A consumption figure is not a specification of a machine in the way that a coverage rating or a power draw is. It is a description of a job, and the job is set by your house. Think about what the machine is actually doing. It is not producing fragrance, it is holding a concentration of fragrance in a body of air. Concentration is a quantity per unit of air, so the amount of oil needed to reach it scales with how much air there is. Holding it takes continuous topping up, because air moves, leaves the house and is replaced, so the amount needed scales with how long you hold it for. And the level you choose to hold is a setting, so the amount scales with that too. Three multipliers, all set by you, none of them printed on the machine. Which is why two owners of the same unit can be nowhere near each other. Consider two real villas. The first has a connected ground floor of 1,500 square feet at a ten foot ceiling: 15,000 cubic feet, about 425m³. The owner runs two hours in the evening at a low setting, the house is on split air-conditioning and the windows stay shut. The second has 3,000 square feet of connected space, about 850m³, runs from eight in the morning until eleven at night at a high setting, and has a balcony door that stands open through the cooler months. Same machine, same blend. The second house is holding a higher concentration across twice the air for many times the hours while a proportion of that air keeps leaving through the door. There is no honest average of those two, and there is no reader for whom that average would be true. Notice, too, which end of the range a published figure always sits at. When a consumption number does appear in this category, it is almost invariably the flattering end: the smallest room, the shortest schedule, the lowest setting, the most sealed house. It is technically achievable and practically irrelevant, and it sets an expectation the buyer discovers is wrong two months after purchase, which is the worst possible moment to find out. A figure invented to close a sale damages the relationship it was invented to start. And the same discipline cuts against arguments that would suit us. We will not tell you how long a reed diffuser lasts either, and a reed lifespan would be a convenient number for us in several comparisons, because it would let us claim a machine works out cheaper over time. But reed depletion depends on the size of the room, the airflow, the temperature and how often the sticks are turned, and those differ so much between a still guest bathroom and a hall with a door opening onto it that a single figure would be wrong for most readers. Neither side of that comparison gets a long-run claim from us. Nor do we publish a wattage figure for the machine, so we quote no electricity cost either, because a small invented number is still an invented number and it would make every real number on this page worth less. What to do with this when you are comparing sellers. Ask the question, and read the shape of the answer rather than its confidence. A seller who gives you a precise millilitre figure without asking about your connected volume, your ceiling height, your schedule or your setting has told you the number is decorative. A seller who asks those first, or says plainly that the honest answer depends on them, is giving you something you can use.
Tip: consumption is not a specification of the machine - it is a description of the job, and your house sets the job.
2
The drivers
The four things that physically decide what your house gets through
Driver one: the volume of air being scented, which is where most people go wrong because they think in floor area. The machine disperses into a body of air, and the size of that body is floor area times ceiling height, not floor area alone. The arithmetic takes two minutes: floor area times ceiling height gives cubic feet, and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres. At a standard ten foot ceiling, 1,500 square feet is 15,000 cubic feet, about 425m³; 2,000 square feet is about 566m³; 2,500 is about 708m³; 3,000 is about 850m³; and 4,000 is about 1,133m³. So the same perceived level in the second house costs twice the fragrance of the first, and that is before anybody touches a setting. Ceiling height compounds it quietly, because a room that looks modest on a plan can hold a great deal of air: a 600 square foot living room at a twenty foot ceiling is 12,000 cubic feet, about 340m³, roughly a third of the Vaayu's approximately 1000m³ rating on its own. And only the connected volume counts. Coverage assumes one continuous body of air, and no machine at any price, setting or placement pushes scent through a closed bedroom door, because the mechanism is air movement and there is none between a passage and a sealed room. If your sale deed says 3,200 square feet but the part that is genuinely open to itself - entrance, living, dining, passage, stair void - is 1,800 square feet, your consumption reflects the 1,800. That is one of the few pieces of good news in this arithmetic. Driver two: how many hours a day the schedule actually runs. Arithmetically obvious and behaviourally the one people misreport to themselves. An hour in the morning so the entrance is right at the start of the day, plus two hours before the family gets home, is three hours a day. A single long schedule running from morning until late at night is five times that. Both are legitimate choices and they produce totals that have nothing to do with each other. It is worth noting that the better-sounding schedule is also the shorter one: run it so it finishes before you need the room rather than through the whole time you are in it, because air that has settled has distributed itself evenly across the connected volume and reads as the character of the house, while air being actively scented while people stand in it has a source and a gradient and reads as a product working. Shorter and earlier is usually both cheaper and better, which is a rare combination. Driver three: the intensity setting, which is the largest single lever and the one almost every home has too high. The reason is physiological rather than careless. You go nose-blind to your own house within about twenty minutes, so the person adjusting the setting is the least qualified judge in the building, and the adjustment is nearly always upward. Over months this creeps, and nobody in the household notices because the household adapted at every step. The correction is free and usually improves the result: aim below the point at which a guest can name it. Lovely house is a pass. What is that fragrance is a fail. Ask the first person through the door on two separate occasions and treat two independent comments about strength as an instruction rather than an opinion. This matters beyond consumption, because a home holds children, elderly parents, pregnant family members and pets who breathe this air for far longer than any guest does, and anyone reporting a headache is a recalibration signal rather than a complaint to argue with. We make no health, therapeutic, air-purification or wellness claims. Driver four: how fast the air in that volume is being replaced, which almost nobody thinks about. A machine is not filling a sealed jar. It is topping up a volume that leaks. Every cubic metre of scented air that leaves the house takes its fragrance with it and arrives back as unscented air that has to be brought up again. So a house with windows open on opposite sides, a kitchen exhaust running, a balcony door that stands open through the pleasant months or simply a great deal of door traffic will reach the same perceived level using more than a closed house will. Air-conditioning behaves differently again, because it recirculates air rather than replacing it, which is why a sealed cooled house holds a level more easily - and also why it needs deliberate ventilation for entirely separate reasons that have nothing to do with fragrance. None of this is an argument for shutting your house up. It is an argument for knowing why your figure is your figure, and for measuring it rather than borrowing somebody else's.

The method
Everything that is published, and the fortnight that gives you your own number
Here is the complete list of what is genuinely published, so you can see exactly where the gap is.The SOSA Vaayu is ₹11,999, and four hotel-inspired waterless blends are included in the box, chosen as Bundle A, B or C at purchase. Bundle A is Ritz-Carlton-inspired white tea, bergamot and cedar; Westin-inspired white tea, aloe and cedar; St. Regis-inspired amber, violet and woods; and 1 Hotels-inspired cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves. Bundle B is Westin-inspired; Shangri-La-inspired jasmine, green tea and white tea; Four Seasons-inspired citrus, floral and sandalwood; and Ritz-Carlton-inspired. Bundle C is St. Regis-inspired; W Hotels-inspired citrus, pepper and amber; 1 Hotels-inspired; and Four Seasons-inspired. So there is no fragrance line at all at the point of sale, which is unusual in this category and worth knowing when you compare prices. Beyond that, no standalone waterless refill is published, and ongoing supply is arranged with us directly on WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. Reed diffusers include their oil in the price: Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom ₹799, Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849, Fresh Brew ₹849, with 130ml sizes from ₹1,249 and duo sets at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598. The ultrasonic route is fully priced, which is where you can complete the arithmetic today. The water-based SOSA Hotel Collection is ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for a 100ml refill and ₹1,799 for a Pack of 7 at 15ml, which is 105ml in total. Divide and you get the honest per-millilitre picture: about ₹19.93 per ml for a single 15ml bottle, about ₹9.99 per ml for the 100ml refill, and about ₹17.13 per ml across the Pack of 7. Seven separate 15ml bottles would be ₹2,093, so the pack is cheaper than that but still well above the 100ml refill, which means it buys you variety and the end of guessing rather than economy. Those bottles run in the Boond ₹899, the Sukoon ₹1,899 and the Megh ₹3,499 only. The ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into a Vaayu, which holds no water and runs waterless nebulising oil; the two formats are not interchangeable in either direction. Now the method, which works for either format and takes a fortnight of doing nothing differently.Step one: mark the starting level on the bottle with a strip of masking tape and write the date on the tape. Step two: run your ordinary schedule, untouched, for fourteen days. Not a heavier one to be safe, not a lighter one to look good, and do not change the intensity setting during the fortnight - the entire value of the exercise is that it measures your real life rather than a test. Step three: measure what has gone, in millilitres. Step four: divide by fourteen for a daily rate and multiply by thirty for a month, or take a weekly figure and multiply by about 4.3. Step five: if you want it in rupees, multiply your monthly millilitres by your cost per millilitre from the list above. That is your consumption, in your house, at your volume, on your schedule, at your setting - and it is worth more than any average anybody could have handed you on day one. Worked purely as arithmetic so the sum is clear: if your measurement happens to come out at 40ml in a month, and that figure is an arbitrary illustration of the method rather than any claim about any SOSA machine, then at the 100ml refill's ₹9.99 per ml that month cost about ₹400, and at a 15ml bottle's ₹19.93 per ml it cost about ₹797. Substitute your own measured millilitres and the same two multiplications give you your own answer. Three ways to use less, in order of effect. First, turn the intensity down, because in most homes the level has crept above where a guest would prefer it anyway, so this reduces consumption and improves the result at once. Second, shorten the schedule so the run finishes before you need the room. Third, reduce the volume you are scenting: scent the connected living volume rather than trying to reach everything, and give the closed rooms a reed from ₹749, which has no ongoing draw at all. And the free one that matters most. Clear the sources and cross-ventilate - the shoe cabinet at the door, the bin, damp mats, a dried-out floor trap in a bathroom nobody uses, which you fix by running the tap for thirty seconds. Two windows open on opposite sides for ten minutes creates a cross-draught that a single open window does not. A house with clean base air needs less fragrance to smell good, and scent laid over a real source reads as concealment rather than as care. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations from an independent Indian house with no affiliation to, endorsement by or connection with any hotel brand.
Tip: tape, a date and a fortnight of changing nothing will give you a number that is true for your house, which no published average can ever be.
The SOSA principle
Consumption is not printed on the machine. It is your connected volume, your schedule hours, your intensity setting and your ventilation - four numbers only you have.
Which is why we publish no Vaayu consumption rate, blend duration or lifespan, and why a page that hands you the method beats one that hands you an average.

The SOSA home edit
Whatever the house looks like, the logic is the same: one scent, sized to the volume that is genuinely connected, running on a schedule so nobody in the family has to remember it. A single bedroom or a guest bathroom is happy on reeds with no power at all; the living room you actually live in wants a machine; the whole villa with central air-conditioning wants the ducts doing the work. Every SOSA system is made in India, cruelty-free and vegan, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is where each one belongs.

Honest notes before you buy anything. Coverage ratings assume connected air volume. A machine cannot push scent through a closed bedroom door, and it never will - so a partitioned villa is not one scenting problem but several, and honest sizing means saying so out loud rather than selling you one machine and hoping. Scent the volume that is genuinely open to itself, then give the closed rooms their own quiet answer, usually a reed diffuser. Fragrance never substitutes for ventilation or cleaning. If a room smells damp, stale or of last night's cooking, open it, air it and clean it first; scent added on top of that only makes a more complicated bad smell. A home is not a lobby you pass through. Households include children, elderly parents, pregnant family members and pets, all of whom breathe this air far longer than any visitor does, which is why gentle dosing is the default at home and why the settings we suggest are lower than the machine can run. Anyone in the house reporting a headache is a recalibration signal, not a complaint to argue with - turn it down or turn it off, and tell us. The Vaayu runs waterless nebulising oil and comes with the four hotel-inspired blends; the Hotel Collection bottle is water-based and belongs in the ultrasonic machines only. The two formats are not interchangeable. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ongoing fragrance supply for the Vaayu is arranged with us directly on WhatsApp: +91 96192 18531. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
There is a difference between a room that smells nice and a home that has a signature, and almost nobody is told what it is. A room that smells nice is an event: you light a candle, you spray something in the hallway before people arrive, it is lovely for forty minutes and then it is gone. Somewhere else in the house a bathroom gel is doing one thing, a kitchen spray another, and a bedroom reed a third. Four pleasant smells in four rooms is not a fragranced home. It is four rooms.
A signature is the opposite. It is one scent, sized to the house, running on a schedule - so it is already in the air when someone walks through your front door, and already there at eleven at night when you come home yourself, and nobody has lifted a finger to make it happen. That is the whole trick the great hotels use, and it is not complicated: they do not chase smells room by room, they hold one fragrance across the volume people actually move through. In a villa that usually means the entrance, the living room and the dining as one connected space, with the closed rooms handled separately and quietly.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and I have sized this for houses across India, and I would rather tell you honestly that your layout needs two answers than sell you one machine that disappoints you. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with your home's approximate size, the number of floors and a line about the layout - open plan, closed rooms, central air-conditioning or split units - and we will give you a free sizing recommendation. I read those descriptions myself. Everything is made in India, cruelty-free and vegan, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your home gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom.
Frequently asked questions
Why can you not give me even a rough millilitre figure?
Because rough would mean invented, and an invented figure would make every real number on this page worth less. The plain position first: no standalone waterless refill bottle is published for the SOSA Vaayu, so there is no consumption rate, no millilitres-per-day or per-month figure, no blend duration and no lifespan that we can honestly state, not estimated, not typically, not roughly and not as a range. But the second reason matters more, because it applies to every brand in this category. Consumption is not a specification of the machine. The machine holds a concentration of fragrance in a body of air, so what it uses scales with how much air there is, how long it is asked to hold that concentration, and how high the concentration is set. A 425 cubic metre connected volume on a two hour evening schedule at a low setting and an 850 cubic metre volume running fifteen hours at a high one have no meaningful average between them, and the reader most likely to trust an average is the one whose house sits furthest from it. What we can give you instead is the four drivers in plain language, every price that genuinely is published, and a method that produces your own real figure in a fortnight.
Does a bigger house always use more fragrance?
A bigger connected volume does, and that is not quite the same thing, which is why the distinction is worth getting right before you spend anything. The machine disperses into a continuous body of air, so what matters is the volume that is genuinely open to itself rather than the figure on your sale deed. A 3,200 square foot villa whose bedrooms, bathrooms and study stay behind closed doors might have only 1,800 square feet of connected space, and the consumption reflects the 1,800, because no machine at any price pushes scent through a shut door. Ceiling height is the other half of it, and people underestimate it constantly: floor area times ceiling height gives cubic feet and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres, so at ten feet 1,500 square feet is about 425 cubic metres, 2,000 about 566, 2,500 about 708 and 3,000 about 850, while a 600 square foot double-height living room at twenty feet is about 340 cubic metres on its own. So a compact house with a dramatic drawing room can be scenting more air than a larger house with ordinary ceilings. Measure the open part, measure the height, and do the two sums.
Does leaving windows open make the machine use more?
Yes, and it is a genuine effect rather than a technicality, though it is not a reason to keep your house shut. The machine is not filling a sealed jar; it is holding a level in a volume of air that keeps being replaced. Every cubic metre of scented air that leaves through an open window, a running kitchen exhaust or a balcony door takes its fragrance with it, and the air arriving in its place has to be brought up from nothing. So a well-ventilated house reaches the same perceived level using more than a closed one does, and a house with a lot of door traffic behaves the same way. Air-conditioning is different again, because it recirculates air rather than replacing it, which is why a sealed cooled house holds a level more easily. The practical advice is unchanged, though: ventilate your home properly for all the ordinary reasons, and simply schedule the machine around it rather than fighting it. Run it after the morning airing rather than during it, and remember that clean base air needs less fragrance to smell good, so cross-ventilation usually reduces what you need overall rather than increasing it.
Which uses more, a high setting for a short time or a low setting for longer?
There is no published answer for the SOSA Vaayu and we will not invent one, so treat any confident comparison you read as a guess. What we can say is what each choice does to the result in the room, which is the part you can judge for yourself. A short run at a high setting produces a peak and then a decline: the level is highest at the moment the machine stops, which is usually the moment you least want it to be obvious, and it drifts down from there. A longer run at a low setting produces something closer to a steady level across the connected volume, which is the version that reads as the character of the house rather than as a product working. If your goal is that hotel-corridor evenness, the low-and-longer shape is the one to aim at, with the run finishing before you need the room rather than continuing while people stand in it. And if what you want is to use less, the reliable lever is the setting rather than the shape: in most homes the level has crept above where a guest would actually prefer it, because you go nose-blind to your own house within about twenty minutes and every adjustment anybody makes is upward.
How do I arrange ongoing fragrance for a Vaayu if there is no refill listed?
You message us, and it is a fair thing to sort out before you buy rather than after. The Vaayu at Rs 11,999 arrives with four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box, chosen as Bundle A, B or C at purchase, so the machine is ready to run on delivery with four registers to choose between rather than one. Beyond that, no standalone waterless refill bottle is published, which is why you will not find a refill price, a consumption rate or a blend duration anywhere on this site, and why you should be wary of any site that does publish one for a machine like this. Ongoing supply is arranged with us directly on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Tell us the machine, the register you settled on and roughly how you run it - the connected volume you are scenting, the hours your schedule runs and the setting you use - and we will sort it out with you. Do that conversation before you buy if it matters to your decision, which for most buyers it should. For the ultrasonic route the position is entirely different and fully priced: the water-based Hotel Collection is Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for a 100ml refill and Rs 1,799 for a Pack of 7 at 15ml, and none of those goes into a Vaayu.

Facts verified August 2026: The SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine covering approximately 1000m³, with Bluetooth app and timer scheduling. It ships with four hotel-inspired waterless blends included in the box, chosen as one of three bundles at purchase: Bundle A - Ritz-Carlton Inspired, Westin Inspired, St. Regis Inspired, 1 Hotels Inspired; Bundle B - Westin Inspired, Shangri-La Inspired, Four Seasons Inspired, Ritz-Carlton Inspired; Bundle C - St. Regis Inspired, W Hotels Inspired, 1 Hotels Inspired, Four Seasons Inspired. Format distinction: the Vaayu and the HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil, while the separate SOSA Hotel Collection fragrance (15ml ₹299) is water-based and runs in the ultrasonic machines only - Boond (₹899), Sukoon (₹1,899) and Megh (₹3,499). The two fragrance formats are not interchangeable, and the Hotel Collection bottle does not go into a Vaayu. SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively, ducted into central air-conditioning. Reed diffusers need no power and make no noise: Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom ₹799, Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849, Fresh Brew ₹849; 130ml from ₹1,249; duo sets ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598. Scent perception is personal and varies between people in the same room, and coverage figures assume connected air volume rather than a partitioned floor plan. Ventilation, cleaning and air-conditioning come first; fragrance is an addition to a well-kept home and never a substitute for any of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any hotel brand. Made in India, cruelty-free and vegan. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Ongoing fragrance supply is arranged with SOSA on WhatsApp: +91 96192 18531.
