A 2BHK is the first flat where the answer costs real money. In a studio you buy one machine and stop thinking; in a 2BHK the full set is three machines and ₹5,697, which most people do not want to spend in one go — nor should they. So the useful question is not the one you typed into the search bar. You are not covering a flat. You are choosing which rooms earn a machine and which get nothing — and doing that honestly saves more than any discount will.

How many? Two, usually. A Sukoon in the living room and a Sukoon in the master bedroom — ₹3,798 for the pair.

Three? Only if the second bedroom is genuinely slept in. If it is a guest room or a study, it earns nothing.

The middle option: two Sukoons plus a Boond at ₹899 for the second bedroom — ₹4,697, and the honest answer for most families.
The short answer
Short answer: Two. A 2BHK has three or four separate air spaces, but only two of them are used enough to justify a machine — the living/dining area and the master bedroom. Two Sukoons at ₹1,899 each is ₹3,798 and covers the flat as you actually live in it.
The pick: Two Sukoons, each rated 270–320 sq ft, each shipping with three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances. If the second bedroom is used by a child or a regular guest, add a Boond at ₹899 rather than a third Sukoon — ₹4,697 all in.

How many diffusers does a 2BHK flat need?
1. Two, in the living room and the master. A 2BHK runs roughly 700–1,100 sq ft, but that figure is not what you buy against. You buy against rooms you occupy. Two Sukoons — one in the living/dining area, one in the master bedroom — is ₹3,798 and covers the flat as it is actually used.

2. The second bedroom is last, and often never. In most 2BHKs the second bedroom is a study, a store, a home office or a guest room that sees a dozen nights a year. A machine in there runs for four of those nights and sits idle for the rest. That is not a saving to be embarrassed about.

3. Three machines only if someone sleeps there. If a child, a parent or a flatmate uses the second bedroom nightly, it becomes a real room with a real requirement. Three Sukoons is ₹5,697. A cheaper and usually better version is two Sukoons plus a Boond at ₹899 — ₹4,697.

4. Never put one in the passage. The corridor between the bedrooms looks central and therefore efficient. It is neither — transit zones have no still air to hold fragrance and doorways on both sides bleeding it away.

5. Do not buy a Megh to cover more. The Megh at ₹3,499 has a six-litre tank and up to 100 hours of runtime, but is rated to 215 sq ft — less than a Sukoon. For more area the answer is always another Sukoon.

Why triage beats coverage in a 2BHK

There is a version of this question that has a tidy answer and a version that has a useful one. The tidy version treats your flat as a quantity of air to be filled, and it produces the number three, because a 2BHK has three closed spaces and scent will not cross a shut door. The useful version starts somewhere else entirely: which rooms do you spend enough waking or sleeping time in for a fragrance to register at all? Fragrance is only worth paying for in rooms where you are present long enough to notice it and then stop noticing it — that is the whole mechanism. A room you walk through, a room you open twice a week to fetch a suitcase, a room that holds the ironing board: none of these will repay ₹1,899, whatever they contribute to the square footage on your sale deed.

So rank the rooms rather than counting them, and the ranking in a 2BHK is remarkably consistent. The living/dining area is first without argument — the largest connected volume, the room guests meet, the one you sit in every evening. The master bedroom is second, because that is where scent does its most useful work: a room with a door that stays shut and therefore holds what you put in it. The second bedroom is a distant third. In the great majority of Indian 2BHKs it is a study, a nursery-in-waiting, a gym that is really a cycle, or a guest room occupied a handful of nights a year. Buy for the first two, live with them for a month, and let the third room prove it needs something. Most of the time it will not, and the ₹1,899 you did not spend buys a 300ml bottle that keeps both machines running for the better part of a year.

The third room, if it earns anything, usually wants a Boond at ₹899 instead: 150 sq ft is genuinely enough for a second bedroom of 100–130 sq ft, and the six-hour tank suits a room used in bursts. The Megh at ₹3,499 is not a coverage answer at any point in this flat — it covers 215 sq ft, less than the Sukoon, and exists for 100-hour runtime and dry-air relief in one room. And the commercial machines are a category error here: the Vaayu at ₹11,999 and Aangan at ₹25,999 are waterless, run neat oil and cannot take the water-based Hotel Collection at all. Both are comprehensively overkill for a 2BHK.
The rule: more area means more Sukoons, never a Megh.

DECISION THREE · IN WHAT ORDER YOU BUY
One now, one when the first has proved itself
Nothing obliges you to buy the whole setup on one invoice, and there are good reasons not to. Buy the living room machine first and run it for four to six weeks. You will learn three things no article can tell you: whether you remember to switch it on, how fast you get through fragrance at your preferred dose, and which of the three included scents you reach for. Then buy the bedroom one, by which point you can pick the scent deliberately rather than hopefully. Splitting ₹3,798 across two months also removes the main reason people over-buy — the feeling that a partial setup is a failed one. It is not.

The room-by-room plan for a 2BHK

A 2BHK is roughly 700–1,100 sq ft, but the useful table is not about area — it is about which rooms make the cut. Coverage ratings assume a closed room without a strong draught; a ceiling fan on high or an open window cuts effective reach noticeably, which is an argument for better placement rather than a bigger machine.

The SOSA principle
A 2BHK is the first flat where the skill is deciding what not to scent — and the second bedroom is nearly always the answer.
Machines only add value across air spaces you occupy. A room used four nights a year does not become worth ₹1,899 because it has a door.

Placement, drops and when to run each machine

Start with the living room unit, because it has the hardest job. Put it roughly a metre off the floor — a console, a sideboard, a low bookshelf — and towards the seating rather than towards the passage. A machine placed near the corridor mouth loses a large part of its output into a space nobody stands in. Keep it out of the direct line of the ceiling fan and the split AC, and leave a foot of clear space around it so the mist disperses rather than condensing on a curtain. In an open-kitchen 2BHK, put as much distance as the room allows between the diffuser and the hob.

The bedroom unit wants the opposite treatment: less of everything. Three to four drops per tank rather than the five or six that feel right in a living room, and the machine at least a couple of feet from the bedhead — you want to arrive in a scented room, not sleep beside a mist plume. Use the 2H timer rather than running it overnight. A Sukoon will do 16–18 hours on low, which sounds like an advantage and mostly is not; a bedroom that has been diffusing since morning smells of nothing to the person who has been in it and of too much to everyone else. Run it for the hour before you go to bed and let it stop.

Then the schedule across the flat, which is where two machines start behaving like a system rather than two purchases. Do not run both continuously — the living room machine in the evening and the bedroom one for an hour before sleep halves your fragrance consumption without any loss you will notice. Rinse the tank when you change scents, use filtered water in hard-water cities, and never substitute raw essential or carrier oils, which are too thick to atomise and will foul the machine. Three to six drops of Hotel Collection per tank is the guidance; in a 2BHK you will use the lower end more often.

The 2BHK is where this job stops being about machines and starts being about honesty. Nobody enjoys being told that a room in their home is not worth scenting. I say it anyway, because the alternative is a third diffuser sitting dark on a shelf.

What I notice, talking to people in this flat size, is that the second bedroom is almost never a bedroom. It is the room with the exercise bike and the suitcases and the good crockery. It has a door, so it feels like it ought to count, and the door is exactly why it does not — closed, it holds a fragrance nobody is in there to smell. That room does not need ₹1,899. It needs you to open the window occasionally.

So: two Sukoons, living room and master, ₹3,798. Add a Boond later if the third room turns out to be real. Spend what you did not spend on a 300ml bottle that will keep both machines going for months rather than a machine that will keep one room company.
