This is the band that matters most, because everything in it is a complete object rather than a piece of something larger - and a whole small thing always outperforms a fraction of an expensive one. Four categories sit under five hundred rupees, and each of them is the right answer to a different kind of achievement.
Quick answers — read this first
What congratulations gifts are under Rs 500? Coconut-soy candles at Rs 379, 12ml alcohol-free attars at Rs 379 to Rs 399, hanging car perfumes at Rs 449 to Rs 499, and solid perfumes at Rs 459 to Rs 489.

Which one should I pick? By achievement. A private win takes the candle, a personal one takes the attar, a new car takes the car perfume, and a long effort takes the solid perfume.

Is anything under Rs 500 a compromise? No. Everything in this band is a complete object, and a whole small thing beats a fraction of a larger one every time.
The short answer
Short answer: Under Rs 500, SOSA offers four complete objects rather than fractions of larger ones: coconut-soy candles at Rs 379, 12ml alcohol-free attars at Rs 379 to Rs 399, hanging car perfumes at Rs 449 to Rs 499, and solid perfumes at Rs 459 to Rs 489. Each suits a different achievement - a candle for a private win, an attar for a personal one, a car perfume for a new car, and a solid perfume for a long effort. Wax melts at Rs 474 need a ceramic burner at Rs 569, so they are the one conditional item in the band.
The pick: a SOSA return gift - consumable, no shelf space, from ₹299 a head.
Bulk: 10 to 200+ pieces quoted on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Rates are not published here.
Congratulations gifts - at a glanceNo ledger here - nobody owes anybody, so generosity costs them nothingEverybody congratulates for 48 hours, then it stops deadA first only happens once - the second one gets nothingFrom ₹299 · homes, cars, books, awards, goals
A congratulations gift is not settling a debt - nobody owes anybody here, which is why generosity creates no obligation in return. Its job is to mark what somebody did, ideally after the first two days when everybody else has already moved on. Workplace recipients may still fall under gift policies that cap what they can accept, so check before sending. Gifts start at Rs 299, and anything can be checked on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 first.
Straight answer
What are the best congratulations gifts under Rs 500?
Four complete objects, each for a different kind of achievement. A private win: a coconut-soy candle at ₹379 - legible, needing no explanation, fifteen to eighteen hours. A personal win: a 12ml alcohol-free attar at ₹379 to ₹399 - undiluted oil, no alcohol carrier, staying within an arm's length. A new car: a hanging car perfume at ₹449 to ₹499, in a dry register and never to cover the new-car smell. A long effort: a solid perfume at ₹459 to ₹489 - spill-proof balm carried through months of something. One conditional: wax melts at ₹474 need a ₹569 burner. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Four whole objects, one per kind of achievement. Nothing here is a fraction.
If you want one answer for a mixed guest list: hanging car perfume from ₹449, because almost every adult guest drives and almost nobody has done anything about their car. Bulk quantities quoted on WhatsApp.

The band where everything is a whole object

Under five hundred rupees is the most useful band in this shop and it is worth saying why before listing anything. The thing that makes a small gift work is not the price but whether it is complete. A whole object - finished, self-contained, usable straight away - reads as a deliberate choice. A fraction of something bigger, which is what a sample size or a starter portion is, announces itself as a portion before the recipient reads anything else, and no amount of packaging fixes that. Everything in this band is a whole thing, which is why a four-hundred-rupee gift from here can genuinely outperform something twice the price bought in a hurry. The second thing that makes a gift at this level work is specificity, and specificity is free. A candle chosen because they finished something nobody celebrated, with three sentences naming what they did, is a different gift from the same candle chosen because it was the right price. The object does not change; the information attached to it does. And the third is timing, which costs nothing either: congratulations arrive in a burst of about forty-eight hours after any announcement and then stop dead, so a gift arriving in week two or three lands with no competition at all. A three hundred and seventy-nine rupee candle in week three beats a two thousand rupee hamper on day one, reliably. Now the four categories and what each is for. A coconut-soy candle at three hundred and seventy-nine rupees is the most versatile object in the band. It is legible on sight, needs no explaining to anybody, is used rather than displayed, and explains itself to nobody - which makes it the right choice for a private achievement that had no ceremony, where anything that obviously marks an occasion would invite questions. Lead-free eco wick, phthalate-free, hand-poured in small batches in Pune, fifteen to eighteen hours. Misty Mornings is Nilgiri orchid and sun-ripened nectarine, Bookshop is cedarwood, sage and lemon, Evening Walks is frankincense and tonka, Cozy Corner is spiced pear and golden honey - with Bookshop and Evening Walks being the drier pair and the safer choices where you do not know somebody's taste. Two candles at seven hundred and fifty-eight rupees with a written note is a complete gift rather than a token, which is the sensible move if you want to spend a little more without leaving this register. An alcohol-free attar at three hundred and seventy-nine to three hundred and ninety-nine rupees is the most personal thing available at this price, and it is a category almost nobody buys for themselves. Twelve millilitres of undiluted perfume oil in a glass roll-on with no alcohol carrier, which means it does not spray or project - it opens quietly and stays within roughly an arm's length, worn for the wearer rather than announced to a room, which also makes it usable in an office or a hospital or anywhere strong fragrance is unwelcome. Adaa at three hundred and seventy-nine rupees is bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and white musk. Ameeri at three hundred and eighty-five is Taif rose with Indian sandalwood. Mastani at three hundred and eighty-nine is night jasmine and Damask rose. Nawaab at three hundred and ninety-nine is a white oud composition built with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron rather than a dehn al oud distillate, which is worth stating plainly rather than letting the word oud carry weight it has not earned. One caution: a worn fragrance is the single category where personal taste can reject a gift outright, so choose an attar only where you know what they like, and otherwise stay with a candle. A hanging car perfume at four hundred and forty-nine to four hundred and ninety-nine rupees is the most specific gift in the band, because it could only be for somebody who has just acquired a car. Jasmine is four hundred and forty-nine, Lavender and Sandalwood four hundred and seventy-nine, Icy Mint four hundred and eighty-nine, Lemon four hundred and ninety-nine, and Vetiver, Sea Breeze and Oud are five hundred and nine, just above this band. The caveat this shop gives every time: never buy car fragrance to cover the smell of a new car. Most owners like it, it fades on its own within a few weeks, and a fragrance given to mask it solves a problem the recipient does not have. Give it as something for month two or three, and choose a dry register, because a car parked in the sun amplifies sweetness to a level most drivers dislike. A solid perfume at four hundred and fifty-nine to four hundred and eighty-nine rupees is the format that matches an achievement built from months of daily effort, because it gets carried through something rather than displayed after it: fifteen grams of alcohol-free balm in a flat compact, applied with a finger, spill-proof, no cap to lose, six to eight hours of wear, and it survives months in a bag where a bottle would leak. Sway at four hundred and fifty-nine is dark cherry, espresso, cocoa, red patchouli and vanilla husk. Sterling at four hundred and sixty-nine is coconut milk, almond nougat, white amber and powdered musk. Velour at four hundred and seventy-nine is vanilla bean, butter biscuit, toasted almond and whipped cream. Siren at four hundred and eighty-nine is black cherry, espresso, warm vanilla and cedar smoke. Titan at five hundred and Beast at five hundred and forty-nine sit just above the band. Two conditionals to know about. Wax melts at four hundred and seventy-four rupees are the flame-free equivalent of a candle but require a ceramic burner at five hundred and sixty-nine rupees, so give both or neither - melts alone are equipment-dependent and turn a gift into a task. And the fifteen-millilitre Hotel Collection concentrate at two hundred and ninety-nine rupees, the cheapest item in the shop, is water-based and ultrasonic-only at three to six drops per tank, so it works only where a machine is already owned. It is not reed oil; the three systems in this shop do not interchange in any direction.

1
Everything here is whole
Which is what actually matters
A complete object reads as a deliberate choice. A fraction of something bigger announces itself as a portion before anything else registers, and packaging does not fix it.
Tip: Which is why ₹400 from this band can outperform twice that spent in a hurry.
2
Specificity is free
The object does not change - the information does
A candle chosen because they finished something nobody celebrated, with three sentences naming it, is a different gift from the same candle chosen on price.
3
And so is timing
Week three beats day one
Congratulations arrive in a forty-eight hour burst and then stop dead, so a gift landing afterwards has no competition at all.
Tip: A ₹379 candle in week three beats a ₹2,000 hamper on day one, reliably.
The SOSA principle
Two candles at ₹758 with a written note is a complete gift rather than a token - the sensible move if you want to spend more without leaving this register.
Two conditionals in the band: wax melts at ₹474 need a ₹569 burner, and the ₹299 concentrate needs an ultrasonic machine.

Four complete things, and what each is for

Four categories, one per kind of achievement - and the car caveat that applies at every price.

Under ₹500
Scent Why it suits the mood
Candle ₹379 · a private win Legible, explains itself to nobody, used rather than displayed. Bookshop and Evening Walks are the drier, safer pair.
Attar ₹379 to ₹399 · a personal win The most personal thing at this price. Only where you know their taste - a worn fragrance is the one category preference can reject.
Car perfume ₹449 to ₹499 · a new car The most specific gift in the band. Dry registers, and never bought to cover the new-car smell.
Solid perfume ₹459 to ₹489 · a long effort Carried through months of something. Spill-proof, no cap to lose, surviving a bag where a bottle would leak.

A fraction of an expensive thing announces that it is a portion. A whole cheap thing announces nothing at all, which is the point.

Jasmine hanging car perfume A first car · the obvious one For the car they bought themselves - a restrained register, to put up whenever they are ready rather than on day one ₹449
Velour solid perfume A long goal · carried 15g, alcohol-free, flat and spill-proof - carried through training, revisions or the last hard months of anything ₹479
Attar Trio A big one · a preference Three attars presented together, so they pick the one that becomes theirs rather than being handed your verdict ₹1,055
Morning Freshness reed diffuser A first home · the standard No flame, no socket, no switch - the first thing a new flat smells of, running two to three months unattended ₹749

A note from Sonal

There is a pattern I noticed years before we sold anything, and it is the reason this section exists. Somebody achieves something that took them years - the flat, the first car bought outright, the manuscript finished at last - and for about forty-eight hours the phone does not stop. Then it stops completely. The achievement took three years; the celebrating took a weekend, and then everybody went back to their own lives, which is not unkind, it is just how attention works.

Which means a gift arriving in week two or three lands in an empty field. That is the single most useful thing on any of these pages and it costs nothing. The second is that a congratulations gift is not repaying anything: nobody owes anybody here, so there is no ledger to balance and no risk of over-gifting into an obligation. You are free to be as generous as the relationship allows. And write the note about what they did, not about how you feel - name the four years, the thing they gave up, the draft they rewrote eleven times.

Two honest things. If somebody has just bought a new car, do not buy them something to cover the smell of it - most new owners like it, it fades on its own, and a fragrance is better introduced a few weeks later in a restrained register. And if somebody has bought a new home, size the gift to the home: our Vaayu is a waterless nebuliser built for spaces of roughly a thousand cubic metres, which is a hotel lobby rather than a three-bedroom flat, and we would rather tell you that than sell you one. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with what they achieved and what their place is like, and we will say honestly if we think fragrance is the wrong call. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.
