Why do the floors need different things? Because the ground floor is public with short exposure and high perception, while the upper floor is private with long exposure and near-total adaptation.
Does the upper floor need a machine? Only if it contains a living area people genuinely sit in. If it is bedrooms off a landing, a single reed on the landing plus one per bedroom is correct.
The two floors have opposite requirements
Advice about multi-storey homes usually treats the two floors as two halves of the same problem, to be solved with the same approach at half the scale each. That framing produces the wrong answer, because in almost every two-storey home the floors have opposite characters. Take the ground floor first. It is the public part of the house. It handles arrivals - the family coming home several times a day, guests at the door, deliveries, visitors. It is where people are received and where hosting happens. Two things follow from that. Exposure is short: somebody walks in, moves through, sits for an evening. And perception is high, because arrival is the only moment anybody experiences a house properly. Everybody who has been inside for an hour has adapted almost completely and perceives very little of the background, so the value of a fragrance layer is concentrated in those first few seconds of walking in from outside. Short exposure and high perception is exactly the profile a machine is built for: it can build a level before people arrive and let it fall away afterwards, putting the material where the value is rather than maintaining it constantly for people who cannot detect it. So the ground floor is where a machine earns its place, and if the plan genuinely lives open - verified by walking it at an ordinary hour and counting the closed doors between the living area, dining, the passage and the foot of the stairs - the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is the right unit, waterless so there is nothing to fill before an evening or empty after, with app and timer control so a daily cycle and a hosting cycle stay separate. Now the upper floor, which is the opposite on both counts. It is the private part of the house: bedrooms, their bathrooms, sometimes a study. Exposure is long - hours at a stretch, most of them asleep - which means everybody in those rooms has adapted within about an hour and is perceiving almost nothing of whatever is in the air for the overwhelming majority of the time they are there. Additional material buys them nothing while continuing to be produced and to accumulate in bedding and curtains. And these are rooms people cannot leave. Somebody sleeping in a register they did not choose has no easy way to step outside it, and often no comfortable way to raise it either. Both facts point the same direction: the upper floor should be the quietest part of the house, on passive sources, with one reed diffuser per bedroom at the lightest level in the home and from a source the occupant can physically move, cap or take out of the room without asking anybody. That means a bottle, not a scheduled unit, and certainly not an app-controlled one, which puts the off switch in another person's pocket. Children's rooms get nothing at all. There is one condition under which the upper floor justifies a machine, and it is narrow: a family area, lounge or open study nook where people genuinely sit. That is a second living volume rather than a corridor of bedrooms, and a Sukoon at Rs 1,799 is the right scale for it. A landing is not that - it is somewhere people walk through, and a single reed covers it. And a bedroom corridor is emphatically not that: it is a passage with closed doors off it, so a machine there scents a corridor nobody sits in while every room it was bought for stays sealed. Two closing notes. Do not attempt to serve the upper floor from the ground floor. A stairwell carries a weak, one-way trace upward, which is why a landing often smells faintly of downstairs already, but raising the ground unit to feed it overdoses the floor you are standing on - invisibly, because you have adapted - and delivers very little above. And keep one register throughout both floors: air moves between them constantly through the stairwell, so two different scents will meet in the column and produce a third that nobody chose.
Public floor, private floor
Public floor, private floor. The ground floor, which handles arrivals, guests and hosting: the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 if the closed-door walk shows the plane genuinely open - waterless with no tank to fill or empty, coverage up to 1,000 m², Bluetooth app and timer control - or the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank for a partly open plan, or the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799 for a compact living area. Run one or two longer cycles anchored to arrivals rather than continuously, at a level set on a day you had just come in from outside. Plus the entrance, the highest-value position in the house and always a passive source: a reed or the SOSA Boond at Rs 799, permanent so it works whether or not a cycle ran. The upper floor, which should be the quietest part of the house: one reed diffuser per bedroom at the lightest level in the home, from a source the occupant can move, cap or take out of the room without asking anybody - Morning Freshness at Rs 749, Garden Bloom at Rs 799, Evening Calm at Rs 799, Fresh Brew at Rs 849, Mountain Breeze at Rs 849, three to four months per bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml - plus one per bathroom and one on the landing. An upper machine only where there is a family area, lounge or open study nook people genuinely sit in: the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799. Never a machine in a bedroom corridor, which is a passage with closed doors off it. Never an attempt to serve the upper floor from the ground floor, since a stairwell carries only a weak one-way trace and raising the ground unit overdoses the floor you are standing on. One register across both floors, since air moves between them through the stairwell and two scents meeting produce a third nobody chose. Fragrance for machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents; it is not reed diffuser oil. Never scented: children's rooms, the kitchen at any time, the dining area during a meal, and covered terraces and balconies. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
