Day & Night ₹1,498
Mountain 130ml ₹1,349
Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548
Calm 130ml ₹1,299
Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598
Only one duo is strictly under ₹1,500: Day & Night at ₹1,498. Fresh & Grounded is ₹1,548 and Warmth & Bloom is ₹1,598 — a little over, and I would rather say so than round it down.
How to decide: count the rooms they will actually use, not the rupees. Two rooms in regular use, give two bottles. One room, or a studio, give the 130ml.
What a reed diffuser is: a glass bottle of fragrance oil with six fibre reeds standing in it. The oil climbs the fibre and evaporates into the room. No flame, no electricity, no switch.
2. Two rooms in regular use means two bottles. For a couple in a 2BHK, the Day & Night duo at ₹1,498 puts Morning Freshness in the hall or kitchen and Evening Calm in the bedroom. Two rooms, two jobs, one purchase.
3. One room in regular use means one bigger bottle. A studio, a 1BHK or a single person who lives mostly in the front room does not need a second source — they need the first one not to run out in six weeks. Mountain Breeze 130ml at ₹1,349, Garden Bloom 130ml at ₹1,299 or Morning Freshness 130ml at ₹1,249.
4. Know exactly which duos fit the band. Day & Night is ₹1,498 and sits under ₹1,500. Fresh & Grounded is ₹1,548 and Warmth & Bloom is ₹1,598, both a little over. If the ceiling is firm, there is one answer; if it is soft, there are three.
5. Do not put two different scents in one room. A duo given to a studio dweller becomes two bottles competing in the same volume, and unless the two compositions share a note you get a seam rather than a fragrance. If they have one room, give one bottle and spend the difference on nothing at all.
6. A duo is two bottles, not a hamper. SOSA does not sell a gift box, a gift hamper, a gift card or a curated gift set. What arrives is a two-bottle product. I would describe it that way when you hand it over, because it is accurate and because the accuracy is part of the gift.
7. Be honest about the paint. A new flat smells of paint, polish and sometimes damp. Fragrance does not remove that — ventilation and time do. A diffuser sits alongside the paint smell until the paint smell goes, and then it is the thing left in the room.

Part one — weeks or rooms, and why you cannot buy both at this price
Almost every buying guide in this category treats bottle size as a straightforward quality ladder: small, medium, large, better, better, best. It is not a ladder. It is two separate axes that happen to share a price range, and at ₹1,500 they cross for the first time. Everything below this band is a single 50ml bottle in a single room; everything above it is more of both. Here, and only here, you have to say out loud what the household actually needs — and the answer depends on the flat, not on your budget.
Mountain Breeze 130ml₹1,349 · 14–18 weeksThe 130ml bottle runs 14–18 weeks against 6–8 for the 50ml. That is not a marginal improvement, it is roughly two and a half times the life, and for a gift it changes something specific: a housewarming present is judged six weeks later, not at the door, and a 130ml is still working well past the point at which everyone has stopped talking about the move. It costs ₹1,249 for Morning Freshness, ₹1,299 for Garden Bloom or Evening Calm, ₹1,349 for Fresh Brew or Mountain Breeze. What it does not buy is a louder room, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you the wrong reason.Part two — one 130ml against two 50ml, question by question
Below is the fork set out as plainly as I can manage. I have used the Day & Night duo at ₹1,498 as the two-bottle column because it is the one that sits strictly under ₹1,500, and a 130ml single at ₹1,249–₹1,349 as the one-bottle column. Every row is a question a giver actually asks, and in several of them the answer goes against the more expensive option.
| The question a giver asks | One 130ml bottle | Two 50ml bottles — a duo |
|---|---|---|
| Who is it right for? ★ | One person, a studio, a 1BHK, or anyone who lives mostly in one room | A couple, a family, or any flat with two rooms genuinely in use |
| What it costs | ₹1,249 · ₹1,299 · ₹1,349 depending on the scent | ₹1,498 for Day & Night; ₹1,548 and ₹1,598 for the other two, which are over the band |
| How long it runs | 14–18 weeks in one room | 6–8 weeks in each of two rooms, ending at roughly the same time |
| How much of the home it reaches | One room. A closed door is a wall to it | Two rooms, and the two can be at opposite ends of the flat |
| What it asks of the recipient | Turning six reeds over once a week, in one place | Turning twelve reeds over once a week, in two places |
| If you guessed the scent wrong | They live with your guess for about four months | Two guesses; the odds that at least one suits the household are better |
| Shelf space it occupies | One bottle, but a noticeably larger one | Two small bottles in two rooms — never side by side |
| What it looks like being handed over | One considered object, and the size does the talking | Two matched bottles, which reads as the larger gesture of the two |
| The honest caveat: the duo costs more and lasts less than half as long, and I would rather you knew that before buying it than after. You are paying for a second room, not for more fragrance-weeks — in pure duration the 130ml is comfortably the better value. If the household has one room, the duo is the worse gift at the higher price, and no amount of it looking like a set changes that. | ||

Part three — when ₹1,500 is the wrong number altogether
There are three situations where I would tell you to spend differently, and the first is the one most people need to hear. If this is a colleague, a neighbour you have met twice, or a friend of a friend whose flat you are seeing for the first time, ₹1,500 is too much and it will read that way. A gift that visibly outsizes the relationship puts a small obligation on the recipient, which is the opposite of what a housewarming present is for. A single 50ml bottle at ₹749–₹849 is not a reduced version of this page's advice; it is the correct size of gesture for most of the invitations people are actually holding. Spending less is not a failure of generosity, and the households I hear from remember the gift that suited them, not the one that cost the most.
The second is the studio flat, and it is a specific technical mistake rather than a matter of taste. A duo put into a single open room means two compositions releasing into the same volume at the same time, and two fragrances in one space only work when they share a note — Mountain Breeze and Morning Freshness meet on green eucalyptus, Fresh Brew and Garden Bloom meet on warmth. Day & Night is deliberately built from two ends of the range, which is exactly what you want in two rooms and exactly what you do not want in one. In a studio, buy the 130ml. It is the cheaper option and the better one, which is a pleasant coincidence and does not happen often.
The third is the refill, and I mention it because people at this budget find it and misread it. The oil-only refill at ₹2,399 is superb value for someone who already owns a SOSA bottle — it is the same composition at roughly half the price per millilitre — but it arrives as oil alone, with no glass vessel and no reeds, and it is therefore a poor gift for anyone who does not already have a diffuser standing on a shelf. It is a top-up for an existing household, not a housewarming present. And a last honest note that applies to all of this: fragrance does not clean the air, remove a smell or change how a room makes anyone feel. It adds one thing to a room. In a flat that is still half in cartons, that is enough to be worth giving, and it is all I will claim for it.
Part four — what to send, by household
Seven households and the exact product I would put in each hand, with the axis that decided it. Where the price is above ₹1,500 I have said so in the row rather than hiding it, because a budget page that quietly overshoots its own title is not much use to anybody.
| The household | Weeks or rooms | What I would send | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| A couple in a 2BHK, taste unknown ★ | Rooms | Day & Night duo, 2 × 50ml | ₹1,498 · inside the band |
| A couple who dislike anything floral or sweet | Rooms | Fresh & Grounded duo, 2 × 50ml | ₹1,548 · slightly over |
| A couple whose home you know is warm and lamplit | Rooms | Warmth & Bloom duo, 2 × 50ml | ₹1,598 · the furthest over |
| One person, one main room, wants it to last | Weeks | Mountain Breeze 130ml | ₹1,349 |
| A studio or compact 1BHK, quiet household | Weeks | Evening Calm 130ml | ₹1,299 |
| A home whose two busiest rooms are kitchen and bathroom | Weeks | Morning Freshness 130ml | ₹1,249 |
| A colleague or neighbour — the band is too big for the relationship | Neither; the gesture is the constraint | Garden Bloom 50ml | ₹799 |
Versailles
The duo sets exist because customers kept buying two bottles at once and telling me which pairs they had put where. They are not a hamper and I have resisted turning them into one, because the moment you wrap two bottles in a box with tissue and a ribbon you are charging for the box. What is in a duo is two reed diffusers, and what you are buying with the second one is a second room.
I would rather people bought the 130ml. It is cheaper, it runs two and a half times as long, and per week of fragrance it is the best value in the entire range. The only reason to spend more on a duo is that a closed door defeats a reed diffuser completely, and no bottle, however large, has ever solved that. If the flat is one room, the argument for the duo disappears entirely — and I would rather lose the larger sale than have someone put two of our fragrances into the same living room and conclude that neither of them works.
What I will not tell you is that either choice will be their favourite gift, or that it will be remembered. I have no way of knowing that. What I can tell you is what each one does: one runs for about four months in one room, the other runs for about two months in two. Everything is composed and handmade in Pune, in small batches, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
