Why does my diffuser leak?
For one of four reasons, and in my experience the last is the most common of all. One, it is overfilled - water above the max line rises to the air outlet and escapes. Two, it is standing on a tilt or an uneven surface, so the water pools to one side and reaches the outlet. Three, the lid or the seal is not seated properly, so mist and water find the gap. And four, what looks like a leak is really condensation - cool mist settling on a cold surface or the base. Work through those in order and a real fault is rare; when there is one, SOSA support is there.
One line: usually overfilling, a tilt or condensation - fill to the line, keep it level.

The four causes of a "leak"
A diffuser that seems to leak is almost never cracked or broken. Here are the four causes, from the most common, including the one that is not really a leak at all.
1. Overfilled above the max line. This is the number-one cause. Fill past the maximum mark and the extra water rises to the level of the air outlet, where the mist leaves - and it seeps out there. The fix is simply to fill only to the max line, never above it.
2. Tilted or uneven surface. On a slope or a wobbly shelf the water pools to one side, and if that side is where the outlet sits, it escapes. Stand the diffuser on a flat, level, stable surface and this disappears.
3. Lid or seal not seated. If the top or the seal is not pressed home properly, mist and the odd drop of water find the gap. Take the lid off and put it back firmly, making sure it is aligned and seated all the way round.
4. Condensation mistaken for a leak. This is the one people miss. Cool mist settling on a cold tabletop, or moisture forming on the base after hours of running, looks like a leak but is not. A little water around the base after long use, with no fault above, is condensation.

Myth: any moisture near a diffuser means it is broken. It usually does not. Cool mist condenses on cold surfaces, and overfilling sends water where it should not go. Both look alarming and both are fixed in seconds.
The fix, and when to call support
Run through these in order. Nine times in ten one of them solves it.
Step 1 - Fill only to the max line. Empty the tank and refill with filtered water and your fragrance to the maximum mark, no higher. Overfilling is the single most common cause.
Step 2 - Stand it flat and level. Move it to a stable, level surface away from the edge. Check it is not resting on a cable or a lip that tilts it.
Step 3 - Reseat the lid and rule out condensation. Take the lid off and press it back firmly. Then look honestly at where the water is: light moisture under a base that has run for hours is condensation, not a leak.
