If they are hard to buy for: Mountain Breeze ₹849 — least sweet, least gendered, and the right answer for a study or a household of mixed tastes.
If you know they like flowers: Garden Bloom ₹799. If they work from home or cook a lot: Morning Freshness ₹749. If they are a serious coffee drinker: Fresh Brew ₹849, and only then — at 9.5 it is the least safe blind buy we make.
Said plainly, because it is the swap people come here looking for: SOSA does not sell a gift hamper, a gift box or a curated gift set of reed diffusers. The duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598 is a two-bottle product. There is no gift card, no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed, no aquatic or clean-linen reed, no hotel-inspired reed and no room spray — every SOSA spray is a car perfume.
2. Mountain Breeze ₹849 is for the recipient everybody has trouble with. Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar at 9.4 — dry, resinous, the least sweet and least gendered register in the range. It suits a father's study, a shared bedroom where two people disagree about fragrance, and anyone who says they dislike scented things, which usually means they dislike sweet ones.
3. Garden Bloom ₹799 is the most-gifted floral, and it is not a blind buy. British rose over night-blooming sambac jasmine, with the indole held below the fecal threshold so it stays floral above 30°C. Send it when you know florals are welcome. Anti-floral is a common position and people hold it firmly.
4. Morning Freshness ₹749 is the working-day gift. Cold-pressed Malabar lemon, peppermint and a eucalyptus globulus base that slows the lemon's evaporation three to four times. It is the only scent I would put in a kitchen, because citrus complements cooking rather than arguing with it, and it is excellent on a desk.
5. Fresh Brew ₹849 is superb and it is the least safe thing to give. Coorg coffee, Kerala vanilla and soft caramel at 9.5, the deepest scent we make. Perfect for a serious coffee drinker's study; wrong for somebody whose taste you are guessing at. I would rather tell you that than sell you a mistake.

The two questions that settle it
Most people arrive at this decision believing they need to know a great deal about the recipient's taste in fragrance. They do not, and the belief is what makes the decision feel hard. Two questions get you to the right bottle in nearly every case, and neither of them is about perfume.
Evening Calm₹799A blind gift should be chosen on four criteria and none of them is "is it lovely": low strength, low polarisation, room-agnostic, and free of cultural or memory loading. Evening Calm at ₹799 satisfies all four, which is why it is the answer for a colleague, an in-law, a client, a new neighbour or anyone whose home you have not seen. It is quiet enough that a person who dislikes fragrance can live with it, and good enough that a person who loves fragrance notices the real chamomile. That is a narrow target and it is the whole reason this scent exists in the range.
Morning Freshness₹749If you do know them, the useful question is what the room is for, because that maps onto the range cleanly. Work and cooking take bright: Morning Freshness ₹749. Concentration and rest take dry-green: Mountain Breeze ₹849. Greeting guests takes floral: Garden Bloom ₹799, ideally the 130ml in an entryway. Sitting still with a book takes warm: Fresh Brew ₹849. You almost always know what somebody's rooms are for, even when you have no idea what they like to smell.
Mountain Breeze₹849When somebody tells me a recipient is impossible, what they usually mean is that the recipient has rejected sweet, floral and obviously perfumed things before. That is not a difficult brief; it is a specific one, and Mountain Breeze at ₹849 is what it points at. Himalayan pine, real sage and Indian cedar at 9.4 — deep and dry, with nothing sugary in it anywhere. It is the least gendered scent we make, which is why it works in a shared room, and it is the one in our review file that converted a father who is "the hardest person to buy fragrance for".
Size, tier and how much to spend
Once the scent is decided the rest is quick, and it is worth being clear that size is a room decision rather than a generosity decision. A 50ml at ₹749–₹849 is built for a room up to about 150 sq ft — a bedroom, a bathroom, a home office — and runs 6–8 weeks. A 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349 is for anything larger, so a living room, an entryway or an open-plan end of a flat, and runs 14–18 weeks. Buying a 130ml for a small bedroom is not a more generous gift; it is a slightly wrong one, though the reeds will fix it, since reed count is the volume dial — six for a large room, three for a bedside, two or three in a small bathroom, where a 50ml will then run close to three months.
The tiers are simple. Considered, at ₹749–₹849, is one 50ml bottle, and it is the workhorse gift — the direct substitute for a small basket, and entirely adequate as a standalone present. Substantial is ₹1,249–₹1,349 for a 130ml, or ₹1,498–₹1,598 for a duo of two 50ml bottles, and between those two I recommend the duo at similar money, because it hedges: the recipient keeps the one they prefer and moves the other to a second room. Premium is ₹2,498–₹2,598 for a duo in 130ml, which is the top of the reed range and the right answer for a wedding or a couple's new home. There is nothing above it, and a 300ml refill at ₹2,399 is not a gift — it is for somebody who already owns the bottle.
One more thing on the duos, because the wording matters and this series is about hampers. Day & Night is ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded is ₹1,548 and Warmth & Bloom is ₹1,598, and each is two 50ml bottles sold together — not a hamper, not a gift box, not a curated gift set. SOSA does not sell any of those things, and there is no gift card either. If what you actually want is a presentation basket with several items arranged in it, we do not make one and no combination of our products becomes one.
Five recipients, five verdicts
The decision tree as a table. One recipient type per row, one verdict, and the reason underneath it. Two of the five scents come with a warning attached, because two of them genuinely should.
| The recipient | The verdict | Why | Strength | 50ml |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| You barely know them — a colleague, an in-law, a client | Evening Calm ★ | Softest in the range, room-agnostic, no cultural loading | 8.9 | ₹799 |
| Genuinely hard to buy for — a father, a study, a mixed household | Mountain Breeze | Least sweet and least gendered thing we make; dry and resinous | 9.4 | ₹849 |
| You know they like flowers — and only then | Garden Bloom | Real rose and sambac jasmine. Not a blind buy — anti-floral is common | 8.9 | ₹799 |
| Works from home, cooks a lot, or lives in a small flat | Morning Freshness | Bright citrus-mint; the only scent I would put in a kitchen | 9.0 | ₹749 |
| A serious coffee drinker, and nobody else | Fresh Brew | Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla. The least safe blind buy in the range | 9.5 | ₹849 |
| You want to spend more than one bottle | A duo — two 50ml bottles | Hedges the guess. Two bottles, not a hamper or a gift set | — | ₹1,498–₹1,598 |

The one case where you should close this page and send the hamper
A decision tree is only honest if one of its branches leads away from the shop. If the gift is going to a group rather than to a person, send the hamper. A basket that ten or thirty people can open together is doing something a single bottle simply cannot do — it divides, it circulates, and everybody present gets something out of it. One reed diffuser going into that room is an awkward object: it belongs to nobody in particular, it cannot be shared, and somebody will have to decide whose desk or whose shelf it ends up on. That is not a failure of the diffuser; it is a mismatch of format, and the hamper is genuinely the better-designed thing for that job.
The same applies where custom decides the form of the gift. If the household you are visiting expects a spread — because that is what the occasion has always involved in that family — then arriving with a single considered object is a small deviation that can land as a deviation rather than as thought. And if the recipient is setting up a home from scratch, a basket of many useful things is honestly more helpful than one 50ml bottle, however good the bottle is. I would send the basket in all three of those cases and not feel that anything had been lost.
Everywhere else — one household, one or two or three people, a flat that is already reasonably full — the single bottle is the better gift, and this page has told you which one. And it is worth repeating once more, since this is the page people land on while searching for the swap: SOSA does not sell a gift hamper, a gift box or a curated gift set of reed diffusers, and there is no gift card. What we sell is one bottle at ₹749–₹849, a larger bottle at ₹1,249–₹1,349, or two bottles together at ₹1,498–₹1,598. That is the whole shape of the decision.
The buying order — and the gap
The same five decisions in the order I would work through them, with the tier each one belongs to. The last row is the honest gap, and it is the reason many readers arrived here.
| Buy | What it is | When it is the right answer | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Evening Calm 50ml ★ | Kashmir lavender, chamomile, soft musk — 8.9, the softest in the range | Whenever you are guessing. The safest blind gift we make | ₹799 |
| 2. Mountain Breeze 50ml | Himalayan pine, sage, Indian cedar — 9.4, dry, unsweet, least gendered | The difficult recipient, a study, a household that disagrees | ₹849 |
| 3. Morning Freshness 50ml | Malabar lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus — 9.0, bright | Someone who works from home or cooks; the one kitchen scent | ₹749 |
| 4. Garden Bloom 130ml | British rose, sambac jasmine — 14–18 weeks, for a room above 150 sq ft | An entryway, and only where florals are known to be welcome | ₹1,299 |
| 5. Day & Night duo | Two 50ml bottles, bright and soft — a two-bottle product | The substantial tier, and the better use of the money than one 130ml | ₹1,498 |
| No hamper, no gift box, no curated set: the honest gap | SOSA does not sell a gift hamper, a gift box or a curated gift set of reed diffusers, and there is no gift card. The duos are two-bottle products. The reed line also has no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber, no aquatic or clean-linen scent and no hotel-inspired reed; there is no room spray, because every SOSA spray is a car perfume | Stated rather than worked around | — |
Versailles
Five scents is a small range and I am asked fairly often why we have not made more. The honest answer is that a small range is a kindness to the person buying a gift. Twenty scents would not make this decision better; it would make it longer, and it would make being wrong far more likely. Five means the tree above has five branches, and every branch has been thought about.
The one I would defend hardest is Evening Calm at 8.9, because a deliberately quiet fragrance is a difficult thing to sell and an easy thing to give. Most lavenders in this market are built loud, and they end up smelling like fabric softener because volume is cheaper than material. Ours is built to sit under the conversation rather than in it, with real chamomile holding the base warm. That is the scent I send when I do not know a house, and I have never once regretted it.
And the one I talk people out of most is Fresh Brew. It is the deepest thing we make at 9.5, it is genuinely lovely, and it is the wrong gift for anybody whose taste you are guessing at. Buy it for a person who grinds their own beans. Buy something else for everybody else. I would also rather you knew, before you spend anything, that we do not sell a hamper, a gift box or a curated set of reeds — so what arrives is a bottle, described exactly as it is. Composed in Pune, and part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
