At two reeds a 50ml bottle runs close to three months rather than 6–8 weeks, which makes it the cheapest permanently scented room in the house by a wide margin. And then the car, where I am going to talk you out of it. A reed diffuser is not a car product. The two things worth knowing before you choose

Only two facts can overturn the table above, and both of them are things you can settle from memory in about ten seconds. The first is whether the living room opens onto the kitchen. In a great many Indian flats it does, and that changes the answer entirely, because an open-plan room is not one room but two smells sharing an airspace. Woody and floral fragrances fuse with cooking — the pine and the tadka become a single confusing thing, and the result reads as a room that has been covered up. The second is whether he has ever complained that a fragrance was "too much". If he has — about a car freshener, about somebody's perfume, about an incense stick — the correction is not a different bottle. It is fewer reeds.
