A 50ml reed diffuser costs roughly ₹105 a week of use and a 130ml roughly ₹78. The working is simple enough to check on a phone: ₹749 divided by seven weeks is ₹107; ₹1,249 divided by sixteen is ₹78. What makes the comparison decisive is not the gap but the ranges — within any single scent, the worst week a 130ml can give you still costs less than the best week a 50ml can.
Quick answers — read this first
Morning Freshness: 50ml ₹749 ÷ 7 weeks = ₹107 a week. 130ml ₹1,249 ÷ 16 weeks = ₹78.

Evening Calm and Garden Bloom: ₹799 ÷ 7 = ₹114. ₹1,299 ÷ 16 = ₹81.

Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew: ₹849 ÷ 7 = ₹121. ₹1,349 ÷ 16 = ₹84.

At the extremes: a Morning Freshness 130ml at its fastest is ₹89 a week; a 50ml at its slowest is ₹94. The two ranges never meet.

Below both: a 300ml refill is about ₹65 a week, a 500ml about ₹56.
The short answer
Short answer: About ₹105 a week for a 50ml and about ₹78 for a 130ml, taking the middle of each longevity range. A 50ml at ₹749 runs 6–8 weeks, so ₹749 ÷ 7 = ₹107. A 130ml at ₹1,249 runs 14–18, so ₹1,249 ÷ 16 = ₹78.
Across all five scents: Morning Freshness ₹107 against ₹78. Evening Calm and Garden Bloom ₹114 against ₹81. Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew ₹121 against ₹84. The 130ml is between ₹29 and ₹37 a week cheaper in every case, and choosing the scent you actually prefer costs at most ₹6 a week more than the cheapest one.
The uncomfortable part: A 50ml is the cheaper thing to buy and the dearer way to buy fragrance. Both are true and neither cancels the other. ₹749 is genuinely easier to spend than ₹1,249, and it is genuinely the more expensive route if you keep the room scented all year.
Straight answer
What does a reed diffuser actually cost per week of use?
1. About ₹105 a week for a 50ml. Take Morning Freshness at ₹749 over the middle of its 6–8 week range: ₹749 ÷ 7 = ₹107. Evening Calm and Garden Bloom at ₹799 give ₹114. Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew at ₹849 give ₹121. Across the range, and allowing for bottles that run to eight weeks rather than six, about ₹105 a week is the fair round figure for a 50ml.

2. About ₹78 a week for a 130ml. Morning Freshness at ₹1,249 over the middle of 14–18 weeks: ₹1,249 ÷ 16 = ₹78. Evening Calm and Garden Bloom at ₹1,299 give ₹81. Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew at ₹1,349 give ₹84. The gap to the smaller bottle is between ₹29 and ₹37 a week depending on the scent — for Morning Freshness it is exactly ₹29.

3. The ranges settle the argument. A midpoint comparison invites the objection that your bottle might run fast or slow, so take the extremes instead. A Morning Freshness 130ml at its fastest — fourteen weeks — is ₹1,249 ÷ 14 = ₹89 a week. A 50ml at its slowest — eight weeks — is ₹749 ÷ 8 = ₹94. The unluckiest 130ml still beats the luckiest 50ml. That holds for all five scents.

4. Over a year it is about ₹1,500. Keeping one room scented for a year on 50ml bottles is about seven purchases: 7 × ₹749 = ₹5,243 for roughly 49 weeks. On 130ml it is three: 3 × ₹1,249 = ₹3,747 for roughly 48. That is ₹1,496 of difference for the same room and the same scent. On Mountain Breeze the gap is wider still — 7 × ₹849 = ₹5,943 against 3 × ₹1,349 = ₹4,047, a difference of ₹1,896.

5. And the 50ml still has two honest jobs. Trying a blend you have never smelled, where ₹749 is a sensible amount to risk against ₹1,249 and four months of regret. And small wet rooms — a bathroom under about 40 sq ft, where a 130ml on even three reeds is more liquid than the space will ever get through. The 50ml is the cheaper thing to buy and the dearer way to buy fragrance, and both halves of that sentence are true.

TL;DR: a 50ml costs about ₹105 a week of use and a 130ml about ₹78. Morning Freshness works out at ₹107 against ₹78, Evening Calm and Garden Bloom at ₹114 against ₹81, Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew at ₹121 against ₹84. Within any one scent the two ranges never overlap. A 300ml refill is about ₹65 a week and a 500ml about ₹56, but both need glass you already own.
SOSA reed diffusers, five scents
The cheaper week
One 130ml SOSA reed diffuser From ₹1,249
A 130ml SOSA reed diffuser runs 14–18 weeks on six reeds — about ₹78 a week of use against a 50ml's ₹105. Refillable glass, six fibre reeds included. Morning Freshness at ₹1,249 is the lowest weekly figure in the range. Composed and made in India, in Pune.

Why cost per week is the only comparison that tells you anything

Sticker price answers a different question from the one you are asking. ₹749 against ₹1,249 tells you what leaves your account today; it says nothing about what the room costs to keep scented, which is the thing you are actually buying. Cost per week of use is price divided by weeks, and it is the only figure that compares two sizes fairly — because the two sizes do not deliver the same product. A 50ml delivers seven weeks of a room. A 130ml delivers sixteen. Comparing their prices without dividing is like comparing a week's groceries with a month's and concluding the week is cheaper. Per millilitre the same story appears in a second way: ₹749 ÷ 50 = ₹14.98 a millilitre against ₹1,249 ÷ 130 = ₹9.61. You are paying for a glass bottle, a machined collar and six fibre reeds every time you buy the small size, and those cost roughly the same whichever volume they are wrapped around.

The honest caveat is that both numbers are ranges, not constants, and the range is wide enough to matter. A 50ml runs 6–8 weeks and a 130ml 14–18, which for Morning Freshness means anywhere from ₹94 to ₹125 a week for the small bottle and ₹69 to ₹89 for the large one. What decides where you land inside those ranges is mostly reed count, and after that heat and airflow. Six reeds in a hot west-facing hall will put you at the expensive end; four reeds in an air-conditioned bedroom will put you at the cheap end. That is why we publish ranges rather than a single confident number, and it is also the good news buried in this article: the figure is partly under your control, and moving it costs nothing. What you cannot do is move it far enough for the 50ml to beat the 130ml. Within any one scent, the two ranges do not overlap.

Three ways this figure gets used, and one way it gets misused

1
USE ONE · CHOOSING A SIZE
The 130ml, on every scent
SOSA reed diffusers130mlFrom ₹1,249Five scents, two sizes, ten numbers. Morning Freshness ₹107 against ₹78. Evening Calm ₹114 against ₹81. Garden Bloom ₹114 against ₹81. Mountain Breeze ₹121 against ₹84. Fresh Brew ₹121 against ₹84. The 130ml wins by ₹29 to ₹37 a week in every single case. There is no scent where the small bottle is the better weekly buy, which is unusual — most ranges have at least one exception. This one does not.
The check: ₹749 ÷ 7 = ₹107 · ₹1,249 ÷ 16 = ₹78 · difference ₹29 a week.
2
USE TWO · CHOOSING A SCENT
It costs at most ₹6 a week to have what you want
The cheapest 130ml is Morning Freshness at ₹78 a week and the dearest is Mountain Breeze or Fresh Brew at ₹84. The whole scent premium is ₹6 a week, or about ₹312 over a year. That is worth knowing because people talk themselves into a blend they like less to save money, and the money is not there to save. Buy the scent you actually want to live with. Where cost per week genuinely should change your mind is size, not fragrance — and the smallest useful economy is not choosing a cheaper scent, it is taking two reeds out of the bottle you already own.
The check: ₹84 − ₹78 = ₹6 a week · ₹6 × 52 = ₹312 a year.
3
USE THREE · MISUSED AS COVERAGE
Cheaper per week is not wider per room
The one way this figure misleads is when people read a lower cost per week as a better product and assume the 130ml therefore does more. It does not do more; it does the same thing for longer. Both sizes hold a closed, still room of up to about 150 sq ft on six reeds. If your living room is 220 sq ft, moving from ₹105 a week to ₹78 a week changes your reorder date and leaves the far corner exactly as it was. Coverage is set by reeds, room volume and air-change rate. Volume of liquid is set by how many weeks you want. They are two separate dials and this page is only about one of them.

Sizing by space — the weekly figure for each kind of room

Every cost below is the real weekly figure for that space, derived from the price and the middle of the longevity range. One row costs nothing, because that space does not earn a bottle.

The cost-per-week table
What each space actually costs a week
Space What it needs How many Cost
A bedroom or study kept scented all year ★ One 130ml on four reeds — ₹1,249 ÷ 16 weeks, and four reeds pushes it towards ₹69 One 130ml from ₹1,249 · about ₹78 a week
A blend you have never smelled One 50ml — the dearer week, bought deliberately, because ₹749 is the right amount to risk One 50ml from ₹749 · about ₹107 a week
A small bathroom under about 40 sq ft One 50ml on two or three reeds — fewer reeds pushes ₹107 down towards ₹94 One 50ml from ₹749 · about ₹94–₹107 a week
Two rooms you keep scented all year Two 130ml bottles, one per room — Morning Freshness and Evening Calm come to ₹2,548 Two 130ml ₹2,548 · about ₹80 a room-week
One room, same scent, glass already owned A 300ml refill — 300ml is about 37 weeks, and ₹2,399 ÷ 37 is the lowest figure on this page One 300ml refill ₹2,399 · about ₹65 a week
A corridor, a landing, or a bedroom used twice a year Nothing. Any cost per week divided by a room nobody occupies is the whole cost, not part of it None ₹0
A note on all of the above: these weekly figures use the middle of each range — 7 weeks for a 50ml and 16 for a 130ml — on six reeds in a closed room of standard ceiling height. Fewer reeds moves every figure down and a hot, draughty room moves it up.

₹107, ₹78, ₹65 — the same room, three ways of paying for it
The SOSA principle
The 50ml is the cheaper thing to buy and the dearer way to buy fragrance.
₹749 is easier to spend than ₹1,249. It is also ₹107 a week against ₹78, and about ₹1,496 more over a year. Both facts are true at once.

Reeds, heat, and the part of the figure you can actually move

Reed count is the largest single lever on your cost per week, and it is free. Six reeds is full strength and the fast end of the range; four is a bedroom setting and the slow end. A Morning Freshness 130ml on six reeds in a warm room lands near fourteen weeks, which is ₹89 a week. The same bottle on four reeds in an air-conditioned bedroom reaches eighteen, which is ₹69. That is a ₹20 a week swing from an adjustment that takes ten seconds and costs nothing. It is not free fragrance — you are asking for less scent per week and getting more weeks in exchange — but in a room you sleep in, four reeds is usually the level you wanted anyway. Before deciding a bottle is poor value, count the reeds in it.

Placement moves the figure almost as much as reed count does. Evaporation rises with heat and airflow, so the identical bottle behaves differently in different corners of the same flat. In the direct path of an AC vent or a ceiling fan it empties fast and pushes everything against one wall; in direct sunlight it both empties fast and fades. On a shelf near a doorway with gentle air movement it does its job at a sensible rate. A 130ml that lands at fourteen weeks in a hot hall will reach eighteen in a cool bedroom — same bottle, ₹89 a week against ₹69. Keep it off polished wood and out of reach of children and pets while you are at it, because reed oil marks a finish permanently.

Then, once you are committed, refills take the figure below any bottle. A 300ml refill at ₹2,399 is about 37 weeks in one room, which is roughly ₹65 a week; a 500ml at ₹3,499 is about 62 weeks, roughly ₹56. Both assume you already own the glass, since a refill contains no bottle, no collar and no reeds. That is the whole ladder in one line: ₹107 a week on 50ml bottles, ₹78 on 130ml, ₹65 on a 300ml refill, ₹56 on a 500ml — and every step down the ladder asks for more commitment to one scent and more money on the day.

Sticker price tells you what leaves your account. Cost per week tells you what the room costs.

Honest notes before you buy: every figure on this page is the real one and every total adds up — check them. Two things are worth saying plainly before you buy anything. First, coverage claims are steady-state figures: a reed diffuser on six reeds holds a room of up to about 150 sq ft when that room is closed and still. Open a balcony door, run a fan, or raise the ceiling to twelve feet and the same bottle covers noticeably less — not because it is weak, but because coverage is measured in a condition your home may not be in. Second, most homes need fewer units than they buy. A room nobody sits in does not need fragrance; a corridor is a transit space, not a room; and adding reeds to an existing bottle is free, while adding a bottle is not. Reed count is the volume dial — six for full strength, four for a bedroom, two or three for a small bathroom — and it is the first thing to try. SOSA reed diffusers are oil-based and composed and made in India, in Pune; the Sukoon (₹1,899) runs the water-based Hotel Collection (from ₹299) and the two liquids are not interchangeable. Both are phthalate-free and composed to IFRA standards for home diffusion, not for skin or ingestion. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

I would rather you judged us on cost per week than on price, even though price is the flattering number. ₹749 divided by seven weeks is ₹107. ₹1,249 divided by sixteen is ₹78. The small bottle is the easier purchase and the more expensive habit, and I will not pretend those are the same thing.

The test I trust is the one at the edges. Take the 130ml at its fastest and the 50ml at its slowest — ₹89 a week against ₹94 for Morning Freshness. Even then the big bottle wins. When a comparison survives its own worst case, you can stop arguing about it.

What I do not want is for anyone to read a lower cost per week as a stronger product. It is not stronger. Both sizes hold a closed, still room of up to about 150 sq ft on six reeds, and if your room is larger than that, the cheaper week will not reach any further than the dearer one. Bigger buys weeks, not square feet. And if you want to lower the figure without spending anything, take two reeds out — that is worth more than switching scent to save ₹6. A portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What is the real cost per week of a 50ml versus a 130ml reed diffuser?
About ₹105 a week for a 50ml and about ₹78 for a 130ml. Morning Freshness at ₹749 over seven weeks is ₹107; at ₹1,249 over sixteen weeks it is ₹78. Evening Calm and Garden Bloom are ₹114 against ₹81, and Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew ₹121 against ₹84.
Could a 50ml ever work out cheaper per week than a 130ml?
Not within the same scent. Take the extremes: a Morning Freshness 130ml at its fastest is ₹1,249 ÷ 14 = ₹89 a week, and a 50ml at its slowest is ₹749 ÷ 8 = ₹94. The ranges do not overlap. The same holds for all five blends, which is why the 130ml is described as the value size rather than the large one.
How much more does a year of one room cost on 50ml bottles?
About ₹1,496 on Morning Freshness. Seven 50ml at ₹749 is ₹5,243 and covers roughly 49 weeks; three 130ml at ₹1,249 is ₹3,747 and covers roughly 48. On Mountain Breeze the gap is wider — ₹5,943 against ₹4,047, a difference of ₹1,896 — because the price gap between the sizes is the same while the sticker prices are higher.
Does choosing a more expensive scent cost much per week?
Barely. The cheapest 130ml is Morning Freshness at about ₹78 a week and the dearest is Mountain Breeze or Fresh Brew at about ₹84 — ₹6 a week, or roughly ₹312 a year. That is not enough to justify living with a fragrance you like less. Size is where the money is; scent is not.
Can I lower my cost per week without spending less?
Yes, by taking reeds out. Reed count is the only volume control a reed diffuser has and it sets consumption as directly as it sets strength. Four reeds instead of six moves a Morning Freshness 130ml from about ₹89 a week towards ₹69. Keeping the bottle out of sunlight and away from fans and AC vents does the same thing, because heat and airflow both raise evaporation.
