Why does air conditioning matter? Because a waterless nebuliser puts a dry mist into the air the house is already moving. A house that runs AC or fans distributes it further.
What if the villa is kept open with no AC? The machine still works, but placement matters more - near a stairwell or where a breeze runs - and reed diffusers in individual rooms make more sense.
Four numbers, and the fourth is the one nobody asks
Number one is the built-up area, and it is the gate. The SOSA Vaayu at eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated for up to a thousand cubic metres, which the product states as roughly two thousand to three thousand square feet. Above that figure a machine is the correct product. Below it, a machine is the wrong size of thing and reed diffusers at seven hundred and forty-nine to one thousand three hundred and forty-nine rupees are the right gift - which does happen with villas, particularly older ones on compact plots and duplexes that are counted generously. Ask for the figure; villa owners know it to the square foot because it is on every document they signed for two years. Number two is the number of floors, and it changes the comparison rather than the product. A stairwell is not a neutral connector between levels; it moves air continuously, because warm air rises through it all day. For room products that is a problem - it is why a villa scented with bottles always has a dead zone on the stairs and a different smell on each landing. For a machine it is an advantage, because the same airflow that defeats a diffuser is what carries a nano-mist between floors from a single point. So a two or three storey villa is a stronger machine case than a single-storey house of identical area. Number three is ceiling height in the main living space, and it is the one people under-weight because the coverage figure is cubic rather than flat. A living-dining of four hundred square feet with a three metre ceiling is about three hundred and forty cubic metres. The same floor area at six metres - a double-height room, which a lot of villas have over the living space or the entrance - is nearly seven hundred, and a reed diffuser standing on a console is working on the lowest quarter of that air. Tall rooms are the single clearest reason a villa needs a machine while an apartment of the same square footage does not. Number four is the one nobody asks, and it is genuinely useful. A waterless nebuliser does not fill a room the way a candle does. It breaks oil into a dry mist fine enough to be carried by whatever air is already moving through the building, and then that air does the distribution. Which means the house's own air movement is part of the product's performance. A villa that runs air conditioning for most of the year, or ceiling fans, or has a stairwell with a temperature difference, distributes a mist further and more evenly than a house that is kept closed and still. This has two practical consequences. In an air-conditioned house, a machine placed near a return or in the path of the main circulation covers more with less output - which is why the intensity should be set low and adjusted upwards rather than the reverse. In a house kept open to the breeze, which plenty of villas in milder cities are, the air moves in and out rather than around, so a machine works best placed where the cross-flow actually runs, and reed diffusers in individual rooms make comparatively more sense than they would elsewhere. Neither of those is a defect; they are placement facts, and they are worth passing on with the gift because nobody else will mention them. Put the four together and the recommendation is usually clear. A two or three storey villa over two thousand square feet with a tall living room and air conditioning is the strongest case in this entire catalogue for the Vaayu: one machine, placed with the airflow, on a low intensity setting, with the timers set for the hours the house is occupied - one, four, eight or twenty-four hour windows with day selection from the Bluetooth app or the onboard buttons. It ships with four one hundred millilitre hotel-inspired oils included so it works the evening it is opened, runs under thirty-eight decibels, has a four hundred millilitre tank that lasts weeks, weighs nine hundred grams, lies flat or wall-mounts, and refills afterwards are the waterless nebuliser oils at one thousand and forty-nine rupees for a hundred grams or one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine for three hundred - never the water-based Hotel Collection, which is a separate system for ultrasonic machines. A single-storey villa of eighteen hundred square feet with normal ceilings and open windows is the opposite case, and the right gift there is two or three reed diffusers, or a duo set at one thousand four hundred and ninety-eight to two thousand five hundred and ninety-eight rupees, placed in the rooms that are actually used. Two closing notes that apply at every size. If the villa is far above three thousand square feet, ask rather than assuming that more money helps - the Angaan at twenty-five thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees and the Meenar at thirty-eight thousand five hundred are commercial HVAC units for hotel floors and showrooms. And in a new villa nothing should be running for the first few weeks: paint, varnish, polish, cement and new wood need open windows and time. Fragrance is a finishing touch, never a fix.
Area, floors, ceiling height - and whether they run the AC
Four numbers, and then the answer is obvious.
| Scent | Why it suits the mood |
|---|---|
| Built-up area · the gate | Over ~2,000 sq ft, a machine. Under it, reeds - and some villas genuinely are under it. |
| Floors · stairwell airflow | Defeats bottles, helps a machine. Two or three storeys is the stronger case. |
| Ceiling height · cubic not flat | A double-height living room roughly doubles the air over the same floor plan. |
| Airflow · AC, fans or open windows | AC-run houses distribute further. Open houses need placement in the cross-flow. |

Versailles
The Vaayu is the most expensive thing we make and we turn down more orders for it than for anything else in the range. Not because we do not want to sell it - because most homes do not need it. It covers up to a thousand cubic metres, roughly two to three thousand square feet, and that is a villa, a penthouse, a large open-plan flat or a house with a double-height room. An ordinary 2BHK is not that, and in an ordinary 2BHK a reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees does the job better than eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees of machine would. So the question we ask is never what somebody spent on their house. It is how many cubic metres of air are in it.
The second thing we say, and almost nobody expects it, is wait a few weeks. A brand-new home smells of paint, varnish, polish, cement and new wood, and those are not smells to cover - they need open windows and time, and they go on their own. Give the machine at the housewarming by all means, but tell them the scenting starts once the building has finished smelling of being built. It is the same rule we apply to a new car, for the same reason: adding fragrance to a smell that is fading anyway is how a good product gets blamed for a bad result.
Two honest limits. Reed diffusers do not fail in large homes, they simply do not reach - a diffuser on a console table scents the area around that console table, which is not a fault, it is physics, and several of them is a real alternative to one machine. And there are two machines above the Vaayu, the Angaan and the Meenar, which are HVAC units for showrooms and hotel floors rather than houses - so if a home is genuinely far beyond three thousand square feet, message us rather than assuming more money solves it.
