The one to be careful with, and the candle question

There is one scent in this range I would hold back from a stage-led choice, and it is the one people reach for most enthusiastically. Fresh Brew at ₹849 is Coorg coffee, Kerala vanilla and soft caramel at 9.5 on the SOSA strength scale — the deepest thing we make and a genuine gourmand. For a sister who drinks coffee properly and has a reading corner, it is wonderful and specific, the sort of present that shows you were paying attention. Meera S. in Chennai bought it for exactly that, a reading corner, and says the only reason her mother-in-law then wanted one was that it does not go cake-shop sweet. But depth is not a general-purpose virtue. As an all-rounder for a flat you have not stood in, a 9.5 gourmand is the likeliest of the five to be too much for the room it lands in, and a gift that is too much is quietly moved to a cupboard.
