So which do I need? Want scent (and a little moisture)? A diffuser. Want serious dry-air relief? A large humidifier-grade unit like the Megh.
Do SOSA units do both? Yes. The Megh is humidifier-first at 6L; the Boond and Sukoon are diffuser-first but still add moisture as they scent.
Where they overlap, honestly
I would rather clear up the confusion than sell you two machines. An ultrasonic diffuser and an ultrasonic humidifier share the exact same core: a ceramic plate vibrating at high frequency, atomising water into a cool mist. If you opened both up, you would find the same basic mechanism.
So where is the real line? It is one of degree, not kind. A diffuser is tuned to fragrance: modest tank, gentle output, a design that looks good on a shelf, and the ability to carry a few drops of water-based fragrance in the mist. A humidifier is tuned to moisture: a large tank, higher output, longer runtime, and often no scent function at all because its whole job is to add water to dry air.
Because they share the same engine, a diffuser always humidifies a little as it scents, and a humidifier can carry scent if it is designed to accept it. The overlap is real - which is why SOSA builds units that consciously do both.
Both are cool-mist, so neither heats the water; both have an auto shut-off when the tank empties; and both work best with clean, filtered water. The difference you feel day to day is how much moisture and how many hours you get per fill.
Which one you actually need
Instead of arguing definitions, ask what you want the machine to do. That answers it faster than any label.
| You want | Reach for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Room scent, a little moisture | Boond or Sukoon (diffuser-first) | Sized to fragrance a desk or bedroom while adding a touch of humidity |
| Serious dry-air relief, plus scent | Megh 6L (humidifier-first) | Large tank, up to 100 hrs, made for AC-dry and winter rooms |
| Both, room by room | The SOSA range | Small units where you want scent, the Megh where you want moisture |
If your main problem is a bone-dry AC bedroom or a cracked-lip winter, you want the humidifier-grade Megh, which holds 6 litres and can run for days. If your main wish is a hotel-clean scent in a bedroom or on a desk, the Sukoon or Boond does that beautifully and humidifies gently as a bonus.
Myth: "A diffuser and a humidifier are completely different appliances." They are not - they are two points on the same spectrum. The honest question is not which category, but how much scent versus how much moisture you want.
One honest caveat. More humidity is not always better. In an already-damp or monsoon room you may not want extra moisture at all - there, run a diffuser-first unit lightly for scent, not a big humidifier.
Whichever you pick, the scent rule is the same: use only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance, a few drops in the tank. Raw essential oils are too thick and can clog the plate.

Versailles
I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, but half the questions we get are not about scent at all - they are about the machine. Indian rooms are bone-dry from AC and winter, and most gadget diffusers are too small, too loud, or quit by midnight. So we made three: Boond (300ml, desk), Sukoon (500ml, bedroom, with a remote and mood light) and Megh (6L, whole-room), each shipping with three of our fragrances.
They are cool-mist ultrasonic diffusers - an ultrasonic plate turns water into a fine, cool mist with no heating element, so there is no boiling water or burn risk, and each has an auto shut-off when the tank runs dry.
One thing I say on every listing and will say here: use only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. Raw essential oils, perfumes and carrier oils are thick or solvent-heavy and can clog the misting plate and damage the unit. A few drops of our water-based fragrance in the tank mists cleanly and scents the whole room.
