A top-rated scent is not the loudest one - it is the one that suits the room and still smells good in week eight. I am Sonal, founder and perfumer at SOSA, trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, and I composed the five SOSA scents to belong somewhere specific in an Indian home. Lavender does not work in a kitchen; bright citrus-mint does not help you wind down.
So here is a room-by-room guide to the five scents, with the one I would put in each, why it lasts well there, and how to keep any of them going for weeks rather than days.
Which scent for a living room? Garden Bloom - British rose and night-blooming jasmine. Warm and welcoming, the most-gifted; the 130ml suits larger living rooms. Rs 799.
Which scent for a kitchen or bathroom? Morning Freshness - Malabar lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus. Bright and clean, cuts cooking and damp smells. Rs 749.
Match the scent to the room, and it will both please and last. For a bedroom, Evening Calm - Himalayan lavender and chamomile - is the bestseller and the classic wind-down. For a living room or a gift, Garden Bloom - British rose and night-blooming jasmine - is the most-loved. For a kitchen or bathroom, Morning Freshness - Malabar lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus - cuts cooking and damp smells. For a study, Fresh Brew (Coorg coffee, vanilla); for an office, Mountain Breeze (Himalayan pine, sage, cedar). All Rs 749 to Rs 849 in 50ml, and they last 6-12 weeks depending on heat, reeds and placement.
Top scents, room by room
I composed each SOSA scent for a place. Here is where I would put each one, the notes behind it, and why it both suits the room and lasts well there - because the top-rated scent is always the one that fits how you use the space.
Making the scent last in each room
A top-rated scent only stays top-rated if it lasts. The good news is that the levers are the same in every room, and you control all of them for free.
| Room | Watch out for | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom | AC vent near the bed | 2-3 reeds, away from the vent |
| Living room | Large space, sunny windows | 130ml, shaded corner |
| Kitchen / bathroom | Heat, steam, draughts | Fewer reeds, a sheltered shelf |
| Study / office | Direct desk sunlight | Out of the sun, three reeds |
The pattern is consistent: keep the bottle out of direct sun, away from AC vents and draughts, and use fewer reeds for a longer, milder scent. To refresh the throw without using more oil, flip the reeds about once a week rather than daily. SOSA scents are tested in real Indian heat - I ran a 50ml at about 45C and 85% humidity and saw roughly 6-8 weeks; a cool or AC room stretches it to 10-12.
If you want one place to start, I would take Evening Calm for the bedroom and Garden Bloom for the living room, both with three reeds in a sheltered spot. Then build out room by room from there.
The SOSA reed diffuser range
Every diffuser below comes in 50ml and 130ml. All are phthalate-free, IFRA-aligned, built on a CCT coconut-derived carrier base, and are flame-free, heatless and electricity-free. Start with a 50ml and two or three reeds if you are trying a scent for the first time.
| Diffuser | Notes | Best room | 50ml from |
|---|---|---|---|

| Garden Bloom | British rose + night-blooming jasmine | Living room; gifting | ₹799 |
| Morning Freshness | Malabar lemon + peppermint + eucalyptus | Kitchen, bathroom | ₹749 |
| Fresh Brew | Coorg coffee + Kerala vanilla | Study, cosy corners | ₹849 |
| Mountain Breeze | Himalayan pine + sage + cedar | Office, focus | ₹849 |
Versailles
I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, and when I came home to India I kept noticing the same thing on the shelves: lovely bottles, vague labels. Nobody would tell you what the carrier was, or name the notes.
So SOSA reed diffusers use a disclosed CCT coconut-derived carrier, are phthalate-free and IFRA-aligned, name their top, heart and base notes, and are tested in real Indian heat and humidity - not a mild lab climate. Flame-free, heatless, electricity-free, built from real materials.
I would rather you used this guide to buy well than to buy ours by reflex. If another brand discloses its carrier and names its materials, buy it happily. I just think you deserve to know what is scenting your home.
Frequently asked questions
Evening Calm - Himalayan lavender and chamomile. It is the bestseller and the classic wind-down scent: soft, restful and calm rather than sweet. Keep it to two or three reeds on the bedside table, which is also the setting that lasts longest. Rs 799 in 50ml.
Garden Bloom - British rose and night-blooming jasmine. It is the most-loved and most-gifted, warm and welcoming without being cloying. Larger living rooms are where the 130ml earns its place and lasts longer.
Morning Freshness - Malabar lemon, peppermint and eucalyptus. Citrus and mint read clean and cut cooking and damp smells. At Rs 749 it is also the most affordable, so it suits a room you may want two of.
Use two or three reeds instead of the full set, keep the bottle out of direct sun and away from AC vents and draughts, and flip the reeds about once a week for a refresh. A 50ml ran roughly 6-8 weeks in testing at about 45C and 85% humidity, longer in a cool room.
Mountain Breeze - Himalayan pine, sage and cedar - is the most neutral and easiest to share. Garden Bloom is the safest crowd-pleaser for shared living spaces and gifts.
