What delivers it? A large-tank cool-mist diffuser - the 6L Megh - so a big, open room is scented evenly, not just near the unit.
How much? A few drops on a moderate dial. Restrained but present, so it welcomes people without overpowering the sofa.
Choosing the scent
The living room sets the tone for the whole home, so its fragrance should feel like hospitality - warm and gracious, clean rather than sweet. It is a shared space, so I steer away from anything too intimate or heavy and towards scents that welcome a room full of people.
| Mood | Hotel-inspired scent |
|---|---|
| Gracious, everyday | Warm Welcome (citrus + floral + sandalwood) |
| Calm, hushed | Quiet Luxury (white tea + bergamot + cedar) |
| Entertaining | Lobby Bar (citrus + pepper + amber) |
If you want a single scent that works for both quiet evenings and guests, Warm Welcome is the safe, gracious default. Bring in Lobby Bar's brighter, peppery lift only when the room needs a bit more energy.
A word of honesty: these are my interpretations of the styles famous hotels are known for, not the hotels' actual proprietary scents, and SOSA is not affiliated with them. The names simply describe the character so you can picture the fragrance.
Filling the room evenly
Here is where most people go wrong with a living room: they pick a lovely scent, put it in a small diffuser, and then can only smell it from the nearest chair. The scent is not the problem - the machine is too small for a big, open space.
Myth: "A small diffuser will scent my living room fine." A 300ml unit is built for a desk or bedside, ~150 sq ft. In a large, open living room the mist thins out before it crosses the room. Open rooms need a big-tank diffuser.
That is exactly what the Megh is for. Its 6-litre tank, adjustable mist dial and up-to-100-hour runtime give a living room the reach it needs, and in AC-dry or winter air it humidifies while it scents. Set it central and raised, near gentle airflow but away from the direct AC blast, so the mist travels the room evenly.
Restraint still applies. A big tank does not mean a strong room. Run the Megh on a moderate dial with a few drops of water-based fragrance, so the living room smells welcoming, not perfumed. And use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance only - raw oils can clog the plate.
So the best living-room fragrance is a gracious, hotel-inspired scent - Warm Welcome, Quiet Luxury or Lobby Bar - delivered by a large-tank Megh on a moderate setting. Filtered water, SOSA water-based fragrance only, and the room where everyone gathers smells like a lobby you would linger in.

Versailles
I trained as a perfumer at ISIPCA in Versailles, but half the questions we get are not about scent at all - they are about the machine. Indian rooms are bone-dry from AC and winter, and most gadget diffusers are too small, too loud, or quit by midnight. So we made three: Boond (300ml, desk), Sukoon (500ml, bedroom, with a remote and mood light) and Megh (6L, whole-room), each shipping with three of our fragrances.
They are cool-mist ultrasonic diffusers - an ultrasonic plate turns water into a fine, cool mist with no heating element, so there is no boiling water or burn risk, and each has an auto shut-off when the tank runs dry.
One thing I say on every listing and will say here: use only SOSA's water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. Raw essential oils, perfumes and carrier oils are thick or solvent-heavy and can clog the misting plate and damage the unit. A few drops of our water-based fragrance in the tank mists cleanly and scents the whole room.
