Nobody publishes the number people actually want, which is not the price of the machine but the cost of the year. So here it is for a studio, worked all the way through: what you spend on day one, how long a 15ml bottle genuinely lasts at a sensible dose, and what the whole thing comes to per month once you spread it over the life of the diffuser. The short version is that the hardware is nearly all of it and the fragrance is pennies — which is the opposite of what most people budget for.
Quick answers — read this first
Entry: Boond ₹899 + one 15ml ₹299 = ₹1,198.

Done properly: Sukoon ₹1,899, which includes three 15ml scents — nothing to add.

Running cost: a 100ml refill ₹999 or 300ml ₹1,799 (~₹6/ml), roughly every two years.

Over five years: about ₹62 a month.
The short answer
Cheapest honest setup: ₹1,198 — a Boond at ₹899 plus one 15ml Hotel Collection at ₹299. Covers up to 150 sq ft, which is a 1RK or a very small studio.
Best value: ₹1,899 for a Sukoon, because it covers 270–320 sq ft and arrives with three 15ml fragrances of your choice. Day-one total and year-one total are the same number.
Running cost: A 15ml is about 300 drops. At three to four drops a fill, that is roughly 75 fills — most of a year at two fills a week. Realistically a studio gets through 45–50ml a year, which is ₹270 to ₹500 depending on bottle size.
Straight answer
What does it cost to scent a studio apartment?
1. ₹1,198 is the floor. A Boond at ₹899 covers up to 150 sq ft, and it needs a fragrance, so add a 15ml at ₹299. Anyone quoting ₹899 as the entry price has left out the part that makes it smell of something.

2. ₹1,899 is the number that matters. A Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft — a whole studio — and ships with three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances of your choosing. There is no day-two purchase.

3. A 15ml lasts far longer than you expect. Roughly 300 drops in the bottle, three to four drops a fill, about 75 fills. At two fills a week that is most of a year from one small bottle — and a Sukoon comes with three of them.

4. Refills are ₹999 or ₹1,799. A 100ml is ₹999, about ₹10 per millilitre; a 300ml is ₹1,799, about ₹6. In a studio a 100ml is close to two years of evenings and a 300ml is most of the life of the machine.

5. Over five years it is about ₹62 a month. A Sukoon at ₹1,899, whose fragrance covers year one, plus one 300ml at ₹1,799 for years two to five, is ₹3,698 over sixty months. Everything else on the shop page costs more and does less in one room.

Made in India, composed by an ISIPCA Versailles-trained perfumer — and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: ₹1,198 gets you a Boond and a scent for a 1RK; ₹1,899 gets you a Sukoon with three 15ml bottles in the box, which is the complete studio setup with nothing to add. After that a refill every couple of years from ₹999 — around ₹62 a month across five years.
SOSA Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic cool mist diffuser
The whole budget in one line
SOSA Sukoon · 500ml ₹1,899
270–320 sq ft of coverage, 16–18 hours a fill on low, remote and timers — and three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances of your choice included. That is why the honest year-one cost of scenting a studio is ₹1,899 and not a rupee more.

Where the money actually goes in a one-room flat

Most people budget for home fragrance as though it were a printer: cheap machine, expensive consumables forever. In a studio it is the reverse, and the reason is arithmetic nobody does out loud. A millilitre of fragrance is about twenty drops, so a 15ml bottle holds roughly 300 drops. Dose a tank at three to four drops — the right range for a small room you also sleep in — and one 15ml gives you about seventy-five fills. Fill twice a week and that single ₹299 bottle is eight or nine months of evenings. In practice people are heavier-handed than the maths, they spill a little and they rotate scents, so call it four to six months per 15ml and around 45 to 50ml a year for a studio. At 300ml pricing that is roughly ₹270 a year. At 100ml pricing, about ₹500.

Which means the hardware is the budget. Nearly ninety per cent of what a studio owner spends in the first five years is the machine, and the two ways to get that wrong are both expensive. The first is buying twice — a cheap unit that does not cover the room, then the right one three months later, which turns ₹1,899 into ₹2,798. The second is buying a second machine for one open room, where it does not extend coverage at all and simply gives you a strong half. There is a third, subtler waste that costs nothing to fix: dosing at six drops when three would do, which precisely doubles your annual fragrance spend to buy a flat that most visitors will find too much.

The three budgets that make sense

1
BUDGET ONE · ₹1,198
The honest entry, and what it costs you
SOSA Boond mini diffuserSOSA Boond₹899A Boond at ₹899 plus one 15ml Hotel Collection at ₹299 is ₹1,198, and it is a genuinely complete setup — 300ml tank, about six hours a fill, USB-powered, colour night light. What it costs you is area: it is rated to 150 sq ft, so it does a 1RK properly and a 350 sq ft studio only partially. If your flat is at the small end, this is not a compromise, it is the correct machine. If it is 300 sq ft or more, treat ₹1,198 as a way to find out whether you will actually use a diffuser before spending ₹1,899 — but know that you are likely to buy twice.
Watch out: ₹899 on its own does nothing. The fragrance is not included with a Boond.
2
BUDGET TWO · ₹1,899
Best value, and the reason is the box
The Sukoon is ₹1,899 and covers 270–320 sq ft, which is a whole studio in one machine. The part that makes it the value buy rather than merely the bigger buy is that it ships with three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances of your choosing — ₹897 of scent at single-bottle prices, and enough, on the arithmetic above, to run the flat for something close to a year. So the day-one price and the year-one price are the same number, which is true of nothing else in the range. You also get a remote, steady / 2H / 4H timers and auto shut-off, all of which matter in a room you sleep in.
The maths: ₹1,899 with 45ml included, against ₹1,198 for a smaller machine and 15ml.
3
BUDGET THREE · THE RUNNING COST
From ₹999, and not every year
Once the bottles in the box run down, refills are the only recurring cost and they are smaller than people expect. A 100ml is ₹999, which works out at about ₹10 per millilitre; a 300ml is ₹1,799, about ₹6. At 45 to 50ml a year, a 100ml is close to two years of evenings in a studio and a 300ml is most of the working life of the machine. The Pack of 7 at ₹1,799 gives you all seven scents in 15ml — cheaper than ₹2,093 for seven singles — but 105ml is a lot of fragrance for one room, so buy it for variety rather than value.
The rate: 15ml ~₹20/ml · 100ml ~₹10/ml · 300ml ~₹6/ml.

What each budget actually buys

Every sensible spend for one room, with what you get and what you give up. Note that nothing above ₹3,698 improves a studio — past that point you are buying machines designed for other problems.

Studio budgets
From ₹899 to overkill
Budget What it buys Covers What you give up
₹899 Boond only, no fragrance Up to 150 sq ft It will not smell of anything. Add a 15ml — ₹1,198 is the real floor.
₹1,198 Boond ₹899 + one 15ml ₹299 Up to 150 sq ft Area. Right for a 1RK, thin in a 350 sq ft studio.
₹1,899 ★ Sukoon, three 15ml scents included 270–320 sq ft Nothing. This is the complete studio setup and year one is paid for.
₹2,898 Sukoon ₹1,899 + a 100ml ₹999 270–320 sq ft Nothing — roughly two more years of fragrance in the cupboard.
₹3,698 Sukoon ₹1,899 + a 300ml ₹1,799 (~₹6/ml) 270–320 sq ft Cash up front, in exchange for the lowest rate per millilitre.
₹3,798 Two Sukoons Still 270–320 sq ft The second ₹1,899. In one open room it makes a strong half, not more coverage.
Above that, nothing helps. A Megh at ₹3,499 costs more than a Sukoon and covers 215 sq ft — less area — because it is a six-litre, 100-hour runtime and humidity machine for one dry room. The waterless Vaayu at ₹11,999 and Aangan at ₹25,999 run neat oil and cannot use the water-based Hotel Collection at all, and both are commercial machines built for whole properties.

The cheap way in, the value buy, and the refill
The SOSA principle
In a studio the hardware is roughly ninety per cent of five years of spending. The fragrance is the cheap part.
Which is why buying the right machine once beats buying a small one twice — and why the drop count you settle on matters more to your annual bill than the bottle size you choose.

Dosing and running the flat for less

The cheapest thing you can do costs nothing: move the machine. A diffuser on the floor releases most of its fragrance below knee height, so people compensate with more drops — which is the same as paying twice for the same room. Stand it about a metre up on a shelf or console, in the corner furthest from the hob, with a foot of clear air around it so the mist does not condense on a wall or a curtain, and out of the direct path of a fan or split AC. Good placement typically lets you run at three drops where bad placement needs five, and across a year that is the difference between one bottle and two.

Then be deliberate about drops, because this is the single line item you control. General guidance for the Hotel Collection is three to six per tank. A studio sits at the bottom of that range: three drops, four if the room genuinely reads flat twenty minutes after you have come in from outside. Six drops in one small room is not twice as good, it is twice the annual cost and usually too much for anyone visiting. If you have a second small machine in a bathroom or a blind corner, run the same fragrance in it rather than a second scent — buying two bottles to make a blend nobody chose is the most avoidable expense in home fragrance.

Finally the schedule, which people assume is about pleasure and is actually about money. The Sukoon will run 16 to 18 hours on low, and in a studio you should use almost none of that. Two hours in the evening on the 2H timer scents the flat perfectly well, keeps your nose sensitive to it, and consumes a fraction of the fragrance a continuous run does. Do not run it against active cooking either — that is fragrance spent on a contest it cannot win, so use the extractor, open the window, then start the diffuser. Rinse the tank when you change scents, use filtered water where the supply is hard, and never put neat essential or carrier oil into an ultrasonic: replacing a fouled machine is the most expensive mistake on this page.

The expensive decision in a studio is not which bottle you buy. It is whether you buy the machine twice.

The five-year maths, itemised

Every figure below is worked out rather than estimated. Year one includes the fragrance that comes in the Sukoon box; years two to five assume a studio gets through 45 to 50ml a year at three to four drops, a few evenings a week.

What a studio really costs
Day one, year two, and the monthly figure
Setup What you get Covers Total
Year one, entry Boond ₹899 + one 15ml ₹299 Up to 150 sq ft ₹1,198
Year one, properly ★ Sukoon ₹1,899 — 45ml of fragrance included 270–320 sq ft ₹1,899
Year two onwards One 100ml refill ₹999 — close to two years of evenings 270–320 sq ft ₹999
Five years, all in Sukoon ₹1,899 + one 300ml ₹1,799 covering years two to five 270–320 sq ft ₹3,698
Per month, over five years ₹3,698 spread across 60 months 270–320 sq ft about ₹62
Honest notes before you buy: the 300ml at ₹1,799 is around ₹6 per millilitre against ₹10 for the 100ml and ₹20 for a 15ml, so at 45–50ml a year it comfortably covers years two to five with some left over; two 100ml bottles would cover the same period for ₹1,998, which is ₹199 more. These are ultrasonic, water-based fragrances and they add a little humidity — welcome in a dry or air-conditioned studio, less so in a coastal monsoon. The machines (Boond, Sukoon, Megh) are imported from China; the Hotel Collection fragrances are composed and made in India. They are not for reed diffusers and not for the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999) or Aangan (₹25,999), which run neat oil and cannot take a water-based fragrance at all — and at those prices both are absurd for one room. Use filtered water in hard-water areas, rinse the tank between scents, and keep fragrance away from children and pets. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

I would rather publish this arithmetic than let people guess at it, because the guesses are always wrong in the same direction. People assume the fragrance is the ongoing expense and the machine is the one-off. In a single room it is closer to the opposite, and once you see that, the buying decision gets much simpler.

What I would spend on, in order: the machine that actually covers the room, then nothing, then a bigger bottle once you know which scent you want a lot of. What I would not spend on: a second diffuser for one open space, a bigger tank in the belief that it means more coverage, or six drops where three does the job. Those three together account for most of the money wasted on home fragrance in small flats.

Sixty-two rupees a month over five years is roughly a cup of chai a week, and it buys a flat that smells like somewhere rather than nowhere. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali, which is the line on the invoice I am proudest of.

Frequently asked questions

What does it cost to scent a studio apartment?
₹1,899 for the complete setup — a Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft and ships with three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances, so nothing needs adding. The cheapest honest entry is a Boond at ₹899 plus a 15ml at ₹299, which is ₹1,198 for up to 150 sq ft.
How long does a 15ml bottle of diffuser fragrance last?
A 15ml holds roughly 300 drops. At three to four drops per tank that is about seventy-five fills, and at two fills a week it works out at eight or nine months. In practice, with heavier dosing and a bit of spillage, call it four to six months in a studio — which still means the three bottles in a Sukoon box cover most of the first year.
Is the 300ml refill worth it for one small flat?
On rate, yes: ₹1,799 for 300ml is about ₹6 per millilitre against ₹10 for the 100ml at ₹999 and ₹20 for a 15ml at ₹299. On practicality it depends — at 45–50ml a year a 300ml is most of the working life of the machine, so only buy it once you are certain which scent you want.
Is a cheaper diffuser a false economy in a studio?
Only if it does not cover your room. A Boond at ₹899 is genuinely right for a 1RK up to 150 sq ft. In a 350 sq ft studio it will under-serve the space, and buying it first and a Sukoon later costs ₹2,798 against ₹1,899 done once. Measure the flat before you decide.
Would a Megh save money in the long run?
No. At ₹3,499 it costs ₹1,600 more than a Sukoon and covers 215 sq ft against 270–320 — less area. The Megh is bought for a six-litre tank and up to 100 hours of unattended runtime with humidity in one dry room. It is not a cheaper way to cover a studio and it is not a coverage upgrade.
