Two things protect a quantity buyer, and neither is a price. The first is buying identically within a tier, because the real risk is not overspending, it is twenty-five gifts that get compared. There is no reed diffuser under ₹749 and no machine under ₹899, at any size or scent. There is no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed diffuser at any price — the reed line is five scents and none of them is in that register; the oud and sandalwood we make are the ₹449 candles and the Nawaab and Ameeri attars, and the nearest dry resinous reed is Mountain Breeze at ₹849, which is a genuinely different smell rather than a substitute. There is no gift set, gift hamper or gift box — the closest thing in the range is a duo, which is two 50ml bottles and is sold as exactly that. There is no gift card, so it cannot be the fallback for a recipient whose taste you do not know. There is no gift wrap, gift note or personalisation.
There is no room spray or home spray — every SOSA spray is a car perfume, and that is a genuine category difference rather than a naming one. Every year somebody writes and asks why we do not make a small, cheap reed diffuser for Diwali lists, and every year the answer is the same. The floor is made of the carrier. A reed diffuser is composed oil, a refillable glass bottle, six fibre reeds and the oil the fragrance is dissolved into, and the last of those is the largest volume and the one nobody can inspect. Cheapening it means DPG, which degrades above roughly 40°C and takes the fragrance sour with it, and in an Indian summer that is not a theoretical risk.
