Why does airflow decide it? Because a nebuliser releases a dry mist and relies on the air a building is already moving to distribute it.
What counts as enough airflow? Ducted cooling is best, a stairwell in a closed multi-storey house next, ceiling fans on low partially - and open windows all day not at all.
Here the first question is not size or layout
Comparisons in this category almost always start with size, and for this city that is the wrong first question. Start instead with how the product works, because the mechanism has a requirement that is easy to check and frequently absent. A waterless cold-air nebuliser uses pressurised air to break undiluted fragrance oil into a dry nano-mist - particles fine enough to remain suspended and drift. It does not blow that mist across a house and it does not fill a volume by output alone. It contributes suspended fragrance and then relies entirely on the air the building is already moving to distribute it. So the honest first question is: what is moving the air in this house? There are four answers and they are not equivalent. Ducted air conditioning is the best of them. A ducted house has a distribution network built in, and the unit can be mounted on an HVAC return so the cooling system itself carries fragrance to every cooled room - which is how large buildings are scented professionally. If a house has this, the machine is doing what it was designed to do and the comparison moves on to size and layout. Second best is a stairwell in a house that is kept closed. Warm air rises through the shaft and cooler air replaces it below, so a unit placed low on the ground floor reaches the landing and upper hallway without help, and bottles cannot serve a staircase at all because there is nowhere to stand one. Third, and only partial, are ceiling fans. A fan on low is a gentle continuous air mover that circulates a room and, with internal doors open, nudges air along a passage - genuinely useful, and the reason a machine still works in a non-ducted single-storey house, but it will not carry fragrance to the far end of a long plan and it will not reach rooms whose doors are shut. Fourth is nothing: a house standing open to a garden and a veranda for most of the day, where air passes straight through rather than circulating. That is not a weak airflow for this purpose; it is the absence of one, because the mist is carried outside rather than around. Many houses here fall into the third or fourth category. Single storey on a generous plot, no ducting because the climate has never required it, windows and doors open from morning until dusk, ceiling fans turning. In that house the machine's whole advantage - holding a connected volume at one even strength - is available for a few evening hours at best, and only across the central connected part of the plan. That settles the comparison before area is discussed: bottles win, and not narrowly. Which is a real conclusion rather than a hedge, and it happens to be the cheaper one. Here is what the bottle side actually delivers in such a house. Each room is a bounded volume with still air, which is precisely the condition evaporation is designed for, so a diffuser performs at full effect. Morning Freshness at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees for fifty millilitres and one thousand two hundred and forty-nine for one hundred and thirty is Malabar lemon with peppermint and eucalyptus; Garden Bloom and Evening Calm at seven hundred and ninety-nine and one thousand two hundred and ninety-nine are British rose with night-blooming jasmine, and lavender with chamomile; Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew at eight hundred and forty-nine and one thousand three hundred and forty-nine are Himalayan pine with sage and cedar, and Coorg coffee with Kerala vanilla. Four of the larger bottles is about five thousand rupees, one per zone that matters - entrance, family room, main bedroom, dining or study - with three hundred millilitre refills at two thousand three hundred and ninety-nine rupees afterwards. They need no electricity in a house where power may be less reliable than a city grid, no schedule, no app, and no explanation to anybody. And they allow a different register per room, which matters in houses where a garden supplies floral scent through the windows and an indoor floral would compete with it. One local caution on bottles: keep them in the calm interior of each room, because a bottle near an open window or in a cross-draught reads strong at the sticks, faint two metres away, and empties sooner. Now the situations where the machine still wins here, stated precisely. A house with ducted cooling, for the reason above. A closed multi-storey house with an open stairwell, because the stack effect distributes and no bottle can serve a staircase. A house with a genuinely connected volume of roughly two thousand square feet or more - living, dining and hall flowing together, perhaps with a double-height section - where a single bottle only produces a pocket. And any house whose problem is specifically the circulation: an entrance hall, a long passage, a landing, the space above a double-height room, where there is no surface for a bottle and these are the spaces that make a large house feel finished. In those cases the SOSA Vaayu at eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees is the right product: up to a thousand cubic metres or about two thousand to three thousand square feet, waterless with no tank and no humidity added, four hundred millilitre tank lasting up to around seventy-five days a fill, one, four, eight and twenty-four hour windows with day selection and adjustable intensity, under thirty-eight decibels, five watts, nine hundred grams, freestanding or wall and HVAC mountable, auto-stop and key lock, four one hundred millilitre hotel-inspired oils included, and refills of waterless nebuliser oil from one thousand and forty-nine rupees - never the water-based Hotel Collection at two hundred and ninety-nine rupees, which is a separate system. In a house lived in open, schedule it for the closed evening hours and place it in the central circulation near a fan on low, since a fast fan thins the mist while a slow one carries it further. Two things this page will not do. It will not print a three-year running cost, because machine consumption depends entirely on run hours and intensity. And it will not recommend a machine to a household that would rather not have one, whatever the area says. Above roughly three thousand square feet of connected volume, or for a showroom or office, the honest answer is SOSA Angaan at twenty-five thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees or SOSA Meenar at thirty-eight thousand five hundred.
It is whether the house has any single airflow for a machine to ride at all
One prerequisite checked, and the answer usually follows.
| Scent | Why it suits the mood |
|---|---|
| Ducted cooling · machine | Mount on the return and the cooling system distributes to every cooled room. |
| Closed multi-storey with a stairwell · machine | Placed low, the stack effect carries it up. No bottle can serve a staircase. |
| Single storey, non-ducted, open all day · bottles | Each room is bounded still air, which is exactly what evaporation is built for. |
| Circulation is the problem · machine | Entrance, passage, landing, above a double-height room - no surface for a bottle. |

Versailles
The Vaayu is the most expensive thing we make and we turn down more orders for it than for anything else in the range. Not because we do not want to sell it - because most homes do not need it. It covers up to a thousand cubic metres, roughly two to three thousand square feet, and that is a villa, a penthouse, a large open-plan flat or a house with a double-height room. An ordinary 2BHK is not that, and in an ordinary 2BHK a reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees does the job better than eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees of machine would. So the question we ask is never what somebody spent on their house. It is how many cubic metres of air are in it.
The second thing we say, and almost nobody expects it, is wait a few weeks. A brand-new home smells of paint, varnish, polish, cement and new wood, and those are not smells to cover - they need open windows and time, and they go on their own. Give the machine at the housewarming by all means, but tell them the scenting starts once the building has finished smelling of being built. It is the same rule we apply to a new car, for the same reason: adding fragrance to a smell that is fading anyway is how a good product gets blamed for a bad result.
Two honest limits. Reed diffusers do not fail in large homes, they simply do not reach - a diffuser on a console table scents the area around that console table, which is not a fault, it is physics, and several of them is a real alternative to one machine. And there are two machines above the Vaayu, the Angaan and the Meenar, which are HVAC units for showrooms and hotel floors rather than houses - so if a home is genuinely far beyond three thousand square feet, message us rather than assuming more money solves it.
