These four formats are not four quality levels with a price attached, and treating them that way is what produces the disappointed purchase. They differ in two plain physical respects: whether the scent originates at a point or into a volume, and whether it exists for a moment or continuously. A candle and a spray are point sources at a moment. A reed is a point source continuously. A machine is a volume source on a schedule. Once a completed house is described in those terms, the honest answer usually chooses itself, and it is frequently the cheaper one.
The only format in this comparison rated in volume rather than in proximity. SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - waterless cold-air diffusion producing a dry residue-free mist, published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, with a 400ml tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour run windows, adjustable intensity and operation under 38 dB. Four 100 ml fragrances included. For one enclosed room it is the wrong tool, and cheaper formats are the right ones.
Quick answers — read this first
When is a scent machine actually better than candles, sprays or reeds? When the space is one connected body of air rather than a single enclosed room, and when the scent has to be present without anybody being there to start it. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, runs under 38 dB and takes 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour run windows with chosen days.
When is a machine the wrong answer at completion? When the space that matters is one enclosed room. There an ultrasonic like Sukoon at ₹1,899 or Megh at ₹5,999 does the job, and so does a reed diffuser from ₹749 with nothing to operate at all. Paying ₹11,999 for a volume rating you cannot use is not ambition, it is waste.
Does SOSA publish a room spray? No. What is published in that direction is a car perfume spray from ₹449 and a ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle for the ultrasonic machines, and neither of those is a room spray. So treat a spray on this page as a generic format with no SOSA price attached to it.
The short answer
Short answer: The fork is size and occupancy, not quality. One enclosed room is answered by Sukoon at Rs 1,899, Megh at Rs 5,999 or a reed from Rs 749. A connected open floor of up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft is where SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is the format that fits, because it is a volume source that can be scheduled.
Why: A point source cannot be scaled into a volume, and a source that needs a person present cannot cover the hours nobody is there. Those two limits decide the format before any question of quality does.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
At the moment a renovation completes, when does a scent machine actually beat candles, sprays and reeds, and when does it not?
Two questions settle it, and neither is about which product is better. First: is the space one enclosed room, or one connected body of air? A candle, a spray and a reed are all point sources - the scent originates in one place and thins out from there, with no fan and no pressure behind it. That is entirely sufficient for a bedroom, a study or a closed dining room, and it is not sufficient for a floor that runs entrance into living into dining with nothing shut between. Second: does the scent need to be there when nobody is? A candle needs a flame and somebody to light it, which is simply what the format is, and no burn-hour figure is published for the SOSA range. A spray needs a person at the moment it is wanted. A reed needs nobody at all and runs about 6 to 10 weeks. A machine needs somebody once, to set a schedule. Put those two together and the fork falls out. One enclosed room:Sukoon at ₹1,899 or Megh at ₹5,999, both water-based ultrasonics needing water and regular refilling, or a reed diffuser from ₹749 with nothing to operate. A connected open floor:SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless cold-air diffusion, a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, published for up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with day scheduling and adjustable intensity, under 38 dB, DC 12V / 1A at 5W, 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, made in India, supplied with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each. One thing that is true of all four formats: fragrance adds a scent - it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify a smell, and it does not clean the air. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
None of these is a better product than the others. They are answers to different shapes of space, and the price ladder is a coincidence of that rather than a ranking.
Two axes, four formats, and the two questions that sort them
Three sections: the two axes that actually separate these formats, the fork they produce, and the published details worth checking before spending anything.
1
The two axes
Point or volume, moment or continuous
Axis one is where the scent comes from. A candle, a spray and a reed all originate in one spot and thin outward with nothing driving them - no fan, no pressure, no distribution. That is why four reeds around a large room produce four small pockets rather than one scented room. A machine is different in kind rather than in degree: it emits into the air of the space and its published rating is expressed in volume, which is what makes the comparison unfair in both directions.
Axis two is when the scent exists. A candle is present while it is lit and needs a flame and somebody to light it, which is simply what the format is; no burn-hour figure is published for the SOSA candles, which start at ₹399. A spray is present for a while after somebody sprays it, so it requires a person at the moment it is wanted. A reed from ₹749 is present continuously for about 6 to 10 weeks and requires nobody. A machine is present on whatever schedule it was given, which requires somebody once.
Plot the four on those two axes and the useful thing appears: no amount of a point source becomes a volume source, and no format that needs a person present can cover the hours when nobody is. Those are the only two ways a fragrance purchase actually fails at completion, and both are physical rather than about quality.
Tip: Quality is not the axis. Where the scent starts and when it exists are the axes.
2
The fork
One enclosed room, or one connected body of air
Now apply it to the house as it now stands. If the space that matters is one enclosed room - a formal dining room that closes, a master bedroom, a study - a point source is enough, and paying for a volume rating you cannot use is not ambition. Sukoon at ₹1,899 and Megh at ₹5,999 are water-based ultrasonics for exactly that case; they need water and regular refilling, which is a real weekly ask of whoever ends up doing it. A reed diffuser from ₹749 does the same room with nothing to operate at all, which is often the better gift.
If the renovation produced a connected open floor, the arithmetic changes. Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so read it as a description of an entrance running into living running into dining with nothing shut between, rather than as a total for the house.
Two caveats on the number itself. The published figure is cubic and the square-foot line is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling, so a double-height space holds more air than its floor suggests. And beyond what the figure describes, SOSA publishes no figure for what a second machine would add, so a larger joined volume is a conversation on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than a multiplication.
3
The detail
What each format publishes, and what SOSA does not publish at all
On sprays, be accurate.SOSA does not publish a room spray, so nothing on this page attaches a SOSA price to that format. What exists in that direction is a car perfume spray from ₹449, which is for a vehicle, and a ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle, which is fragrance for the ultrasonic machines rather than something to spray into a room. Treat a room spray here as a generic category, priced by whoever makes it.
On the machine, the published details that matter. It runs under 38 dB, it is controlled by Bluetooth app or the buttons on it with 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour run windows, chosen days, adjustable intensity, auto-stop and a key-lock, and it ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, so it is complete on the first day. Afterwards, SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm; it takes alcohol-free, water-free oil made for cold-air diffusion, and the water-based bottles belong to the ultrasonics.
And the gaps, which matter as much as the figures. The life of a 400ml fill is stated two different ways - about 75 days in the specification data and 90 or more in the body copy - and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours regardless. There is no published warranty period, no installation service and no running-cost figure. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than assuming any of them.
Tip: SOSA does not publish a room spray. Do not let a page tell you otherwise, including this one.
Read the number strictly, not generously
About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of air that is actually connected
Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The caveat matters more than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air. A ground floor that runs living into dining into a stairwell is one volume and is exactly what the figure describes. A bungalow of the same total area with six closed doors is not one volume, it is six rooms, and the figure does not transfer. Work out how much of the house is genuinely open before you work out anything else - and note that no guidance is published on what a second unit adds.
Decide whether the space is one enclosed room or one connected body of air.
Decide whether the scent must be there when nobody is in the house.
One room: Sukoon Rs 1,899, Megh Rs 5,999 or a reed from Rs 749.
A connected open floor of up to about 3,000 sq ft: Vaayu at Rs 11,999.
The SOSA principle
No quantity of a point source turns into a volume source, and no format that needs a person present can cover the hours when nobody is there. Those are the only two ways a fragrance purchase fails at completion, and both of them are questions about the house rather than about the product.
That is why the price ladder here is misleading: the cheapest format in the range is the correct answer for one enclosed room, and the most expensive one is simply the only format rated for a joined floor.
Which set, and what each format actually runs on
Three published four-scent sets, all ₹11,999, so this part is taste rather than budget. They pair Ritz-Carlton with Westin, St. Regis and 1 Hotels inspirations; Westin with Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton; and St. Regis with W Hotels, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons. Worth saying plainly: these are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, composed by SOSA, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Format also constrains fragrance in a way people rarely mention. A reed and a candle give you one scent for weeks at a time, so the choice has to be safe. Four 100 ml bottles and adjustable intensity give a household the ability to change register between a Saturday evening and an ordinary Tuesday, which is a genuine argument for the machine that has nothing to do with coverage. If none of the four settles it, the waterless nebuliser oils at ₹1,049 for 100 gm are a small correction.
The SOSA gift edit
The four formats at completion, sorted by what they physically do
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
SOSA Vaayu · ₹11,999
A volume source on a schedule: up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows with chosen days, complete in the box with four 100 ml fragrances. It fails in a single enclosed room, where it is a rating nobody can use, and it fails if nobody will ever set a schedule.
Ultrasonics · Sukoon ₹1,899, Megh ₹5,999
Water-based machines for one enclosed room, and genuinely the right answer there. They need water and regular refilling, which is a weekly ask of whoever inherits them. They fail across a connected floor, where a single-room machine is being asked to do a volume job it is not rated for.
Reed diffusers · ₹749 to ₹1,349
A point source running continuously for about 6 to 10 weeks, passive, with nothing to plug in and nothing to switch off. The right answer for a house of separate rooms and for anybody who will not operate a thing. It fails on a joined floor, and it fails when the scent needs to change by the hour.
Candles and sprays · candles from ₹399
Point sources at a moment. A candle needs a flame and somebody to light it, which is what the format is, and no burn-hour figure is published. A spray needs a person at the moment it is wanted, and SOSA publishes no room spray at all. Both fail as the standing answer for a house nobody is in.
The two details that matter in a finished house
Under 38 dB, and it runs only when you tell it to
Two published details decide whether this belongs in a house somebody spent years on. It runs under 38 dB, which is the answer to the reasonable worry about a machine humming in a double-height living room. And it is scheduled: Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, with auto-stop and a key-lock. That is what makes it workable in a house occupied for part of the year, or a room used only when people come over. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, and it ships with four 100 ml fragrances - so it is complete on the day it arrives.
The edges of the range, for completeness. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine - a hotel, a showroom, a corporate floor - and the catalogue holds nothing between the two, so for a finished house it is not the ambitious choice but the wrong one. Boond at ₹899 is the smallest ultrasonic and suits a small closed room. SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is cordless and portable, and it goes with a person to a car or a bag rather than scenting a property; it is imported rather than made in India. Attars from ₹379 are worn rather than placed. None of those is a lesser product. They answer different questions, and the question on this page is what shape of air the finished house actually has.
₹11,999. Up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected volume. A 400ml tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h run windows and adjustable intensity. Under 38 dB.
165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding on a surface or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with auto-stop and a key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS marks.
Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets. So it is complete on arrival, which matters more for a gift than it sounds.
four x 100 ml included
The number this whole decision turns on, and where it stops being true
Up to 1000 m3 - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of connected air
SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It is a waterless cold-air machine producing a dry, residue-free mist with no water and no heat, running under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, and its country of origin is India. But a coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. That figure describes an open-plan living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall - the kind of volume a small passive bottle cannot reach. It does not describe a bungalow with every internal door closed, because that is not one volume; it is six. Above about 3,000 sq ft of genuinely connected space, or across separated wings, the honest answer is a conversation rather than a number, because no multi-unit guidance is published. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine rather than a house gift.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
Four reeds in a large room give you four small pockets and the space between them. That is not a fault in the reed. It is what a point source is.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much air it is meant to handle
Up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected volume - a 400ml tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h scheduling, adjustable intensity, under 38 dB
Worn on the body rather than placed in a room - the right answer when the gift is about the person and not the house
from ₹379
A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. Vaayu's figure describes an open-plan volume - a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall. A house with every internal door shut is not one volume, and the figure does not transfer to it. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, and its country of origin is India. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue rather than about air quality. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and quantities are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What the Vaayu page publishes, and what it does not
Everything below is on the live product page. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The machine - waterless cold-air diffusion, dry and residue-free, no water and no heat. 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm, 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A, 5W. Under 38 dB. Auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS. Country of origin India.
Control - a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity. This is what makes it workable in a house that is empty for stretches, or a room used only at weekends.
In the box - every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
The fragrance - alcohol-free, water-free oils formulated for cold-air diffusion. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm and are published for Vaayu and Safar. The water-based ultrasonic bottles belong to a different kind of machine.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long a 400ml fill lasts as a single figure - the page says about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another; what a second unit adds; any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; and any running or electricity cost. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Not sure whether the house needs a machine or a bottle? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: roughly how much of the ground floor is one connected open volume, whether the internal doors stay open or shut, how often the house is actually occupied, and what you want to spend. You will get one straight answer rather than a catalogue - including the times the honest answer is a reed diffuser from ₹749 or a duo set from ₹1,498 rather than a machine. What is not on this page, because SOSA does not publish it: what a second unit adds, any warranty period, any installation service, any running or electricity cost, and any app or Bluetooth compatibility detail. One thing to check before you buy: the Vaayu page states the life of a 400ml fill two different ways - about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another - and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours in any case, so ask rather than plan around a number. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each; SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; quantities and anything commercial are settled on WhatsApp rather than priced on a page. Bespoke composition, a fragrance composed for you by Sonal, is a real SOSA service and is also discussed there. Where SOSA is: an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India, with no shop, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.

A note from Sonal
The messages I find hardest to answer are the ones that begin with an apology. They have just finished building the house. I don't want to sound cheap, but I also can't buy them anything that matters at that scale. And underneath it is a real anxiety: that after years of drawings and delays and site visits, whatever you turn up with will look like a token.
What I would say is that the anxiety is aimed at the wrong thing. You are not competing with the house. Nobody is. The people who built it spent two years choosing between four shades of the same stone, and there is no object you can hand over that will register on that scale. Trying is how people end up buying a vase that gets moved to a spare room.
The reason I keep coming back to scent for these particular houses is unromantic. It is the last layer, and it is the only one nobody planned. An architect resolves the volume, a designer resolves the surfaces, a lighting consultant resolves the evening, and then everybody stops - because scent is not on anybody's drawing. So it is one of the few things left that adds to a finished house without arguing with a single decision already made in it.
The part I would be careful about is the number. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does, and I would rather you read it strictly than generously. About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, of air that is actually connected. A ground floor that opens living into dining into a stairwell is that. A bungalow with six closed doors is not that, whatever its total square footage says on paper, and a page that blurs the two is doing you no favours.
Frequently asked questions
When does a scent machine beat candles, sprays and reeds?
When the space is one connected body of air rather than one enclosed room, and when the scent has to be present at hours nobody is in the house. A machine emits into a volume and can be scheduled. Candles, sprays and reeds all originate at a point, and candles and sprays additionally need a person there at the moment. Those two facts decide it.
When is a machine the wrong answer?
When the space that matters is a single enclosed room. Sukoon at Rs 1,899 and Megh at Rs 5,999 are water-based ultrasonics made for exactly that, and a reed diffuser from Rs 749 does the same room with nothing to operate. Buying a volume rating for a room that cannot use it is waste rather than ambition.
Does SOSA sell a room spray, and what does it cost?
SOSA does not publish a room spray. What is published is a car perfume spray from Rs 449, which is for a vehicle, and a Rs 299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle, which is fragrance for the ultrasonic machines rather than something sprayed into a room. Treat a room spray as a generic category with no SOSA price attached.
How long does a candle or a reed last?
No burn-hour figure is published for the SOSA candles, which start at Rs 399, so this page will not quote one. Reed diffusers are published at about 6 to 10 weeks, in 50 ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849 and 130 ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349. For the machine, the 400 ml fill is stated two ways - about 75 days in the specification data and 90 or more days in the body copy.
Will any of these deal with the smell a renovation leaves?
No, and that applies to all four formats equally. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify a smell, and it does not clean the air. Paint, adhesive and polish need ventilation and time. The dry residue-free mist Vaayu produces is a statement about residue on surfaces, not about air quality.

About the coverage figure: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure describes an open-plan volume such as a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level or a double-height hall, and does not describe a property whose rooms are separated by closed doors, whatever its total floor area. No guidance is published on what a second unit adds. About tank life: the Vaayu product page states the life of one 400 ml fill in two different ways - approximately 75 days in its specification and FAQ data, and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, so no single figure is stated on this page. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; any running or electricity cost; and any multi-unit coverage. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim; a dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue and not about air quality. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing, nor about how any recipient or guest will feel, nor about what a gift does for any business result. No page here characterises any recipient's wealth or describes people who own particular kinds of property; where a property value appears it is the figure the reader themselves supplied as context. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.
