Founder Diaries · New Parent & Baby Shower Gifting Guides
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 12 min read Updated August 2026
The difference between a nice idea and something HR can actually run is a specification. A standing new-parent gift has to be one reorderable item at a stable price, appropriate for any employee regardless of who had the baby, requiring no personalisation, and deliverable to a home address without anybody having to ask an awkward question. Here is what meets that.
Quick answers — read this first
What new parent gift can HR give employees? One reorderable item at a stable price - a hanging car perfume at Rs 449 to Rs 509, a reed diffuser at Rs 749 to Rs 849, or a complete Boond system at Rs 1,198.

What does a standing gift need? A single SKU, a stable price, appropriateness for mothers and fathers alike, no personalisation, and delivery to a home address. Anything else becomes a per-case decision.

Are bulk rates available? Prices here are the published retail ones. Volume terms, minimum order quantities and lead times are not published and should be discussed directly.
The short answer
Short answer: A standing HR gift needs a specification: one reorderable SKU, a stable price, equal appropriateness for mothers and fathers, no personalisation, and delivery to a home address. Three that meet it: a hanging car perfume at Rs 449 to Rs 509, a reed diffuser at Rs 749 to Rs 849 that runs unattended for months, and a complete Boond ultrasonic system at Rs 1,198. Volume terms and lead times are not published and should be discussed directly.
The pick: a SOSA return gift - consumable, no shelf space, from ₹299 a head.
Bulk: 10 to 200+ pieces quoted on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Rates are not published here.
Gifts for the parents - at a glanceEverybody gifts the baby - almost nobody gifts the parentsNo setup, no decisions, usable with one handConsumable - their home has no spare surfaceFrom ₹299 · for her, him or both
These are gifts for the adults. SOSA does not make products for babies and nothing here is intended for a nursery or for a baby's things - the point is that the mother and father receive something addressed to them. Gifts start at Rs 299, and anything can be checked on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 first.
Straight answer
What can HR give employees who become parents?
A standing gift needs a spec: one reorderable item, a stable price, equally right for mothers and fathers, no personalisation, and deliverable to a home address. Three that meet it. Entry: a hanging car perfume at ₹449 to ₹509 - neutral, and genuinely useful for the parent doing the driving. Standard: a reed diffuser at ₹749 to ₹849, two to three months with no upkeep - the recommended default. Senior: a complete Boond system at ₹1,198 with Hotel Collection concentrate, three to six drops per tank; never the machine alone. Prices shown are retail - volume terms and lead times are not published, so ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
One SKU, stable price, gender-neutral, no personalisation, home delivery. Rs 449 to Rs 1,198.
If you want one answer for a mixed guest list: hanging car perfume from ₹449, because almost every adult guest drives and almost nobody has done anything about their car. Bulk quantities quoted on WhatsApp.
from ₹299

HR needs a specification, not a suggestion

Most articles about what a company should give a new parent are written for the person choosing a single gift. This one is written for the person who has to run it forty times over five years, which is a different problem with different constraints. A standing gift is not really a gift decision at all - it is a small piece of operational design, and it succeeds or fails on whether it can be executed without thought. So here is the specification, and then what meets it. One: a single reorderable item. Not a category, not a budget, not a suggestion. If the policy says something around eight hundred rupees, then somebody has to choose every time, which means somebody has to have taste, time and an opinion, and that person will eventually leave. A named product removes the decision permanently. Two: a stable price. A gift whose cost drifts upward becomes a budget conversation and one that drifts downward is noticed immediately by employees who compare. Choose something with a settled retail price rather than something seasonal or limited. Three: equally appropriate regardless of who had the baby. This is the constraint organisations most often fail, and the failure is visible: a warm gift when a woman on the team has a baby and a card when a man does. Everybody sees it, nobody says anything, and it quietly tells the organisation what it believes about parenthood. One gift, given to every parent, ends the problem. Four: no personalisation required. Anything needing a size, a preference, a colour choice or a name engraved reintroduces a per-case decision and a delay. Five: deliverable to a home address, because for six months some of these employees are not in an office - and crucially, nothing that requires a visit. A visit from work is the hardest kind for a new household to host. Six: nothing that has to be explained, because the person handing it over will be busy. Three products meet that specification, and they map onto the tiers most organisations already use. Entry tier: a hanging car perfume at four hundred and forty-nine to five hundred and nine rupees. Jasmine is four hundred and forty-nine, Lavender and Sandalwood four hundred and seventy-nine, Icy Mint four hundred and eighty-nine, Lemon four hundred and ninety-nine, Vetiver, Sea Breeze and Oud five hundred and nine. It is completely neutral - a car accessory carries no personal register at all - and it is more useful than its price suggests, because in the months after a birth one parent takes over the outside half of the household: the paediatrician, the pharmacy at eleven at night, relatives collected from the station, the shopping, and the drive around the block at midnight with a baby who will not settle. Standard tier, and the recommended default for most organisations: a reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine to eight hundred and forty-nine rupees. Morning Freshness is seven hundred and forty-nine, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm seven hundred and ninety-nine, Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew eight hundred and forty-nine. Each uses its own alcohol-free reed oil drawn up rattan by capillary action, needs one minute of attention at the start and none afterwards, and runs for two or three months. It reads as substantial without being extravagant, it is unmistakably for a home rather than for a baby, and it requires nothing whatsoever from a household that has no spare capacity. It goes at an entrance or in a living room - not a nursery. To be explicit for any policy document: SOSA makes no products for babies or children, and nothing in this range is intended for a nursery, a cot, a pram or a child's belongings. Senior tier: a complete ultrasonic system. The Boond diffuser at eight hundred and ninety-nine rupees with the water-based Hotel Collection concentrate at two hundred and ninety-nine is one thousand one hundred and ninety-eight complete, three to six drops per tank. The full-size Sukoon at one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine is complete at two thousand one hundred and ninety-eight. The rule that belongs in the policy in writing: never send the machine alone. A device with nothing to run in it is a shopping instruction in good packaging, and from an employer it reads as a gift somebody did not finish. The three systems do not interchange - reed diffusers use reed oil and rattan capillary action, ultrasonic machines take the water-based concentrate, the waterless nebuliser runs undiluted oil - and reed oil must never go into a machine. The Hotel Collection registers are Quiet Luxury with white tea, bergamot and cedar; White Tea Serenity with white tea, aloe and cedar; Forest Suite with cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves; Old-World Glamour with amber, violet and woods; Tea Garden with jasmine, green tea and white tea; Warm Welcome with citrus, floral and sandalwood; and Lobby Bar with citrus, pepper and amber. These are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. One honest note on procurement, since this page is aimed at people who buy in volume. The prices above are the published retail prices. Volume rates, minimum order quantities and lead times are not published, and it would be misleading to imply a discount schedule that is not stated anywhere - so those should be discussed directly rather than assumed. What can be said is that these are standard catalogue products rather than seasonal ones, which is the property that matters most for a standing policy. Four things to write into the policy itself, because they are where these schemes go wrong. First, the trigger: every parent, every baby, not just first babies - companies reliably mark the first generously and do less afterwards without deciding to, and employees experience the whole sequence. Second, the tier rule: define it by grade or tenure rather than case by case, since case-by-case is how inconsistency becomes visible. Third, the card: written to the employee, saying nothing at all about the return date. A gift that mentions when somebody is coming back is not a gift, it is a calendar invitation with a ribbon on it. And fourth, the delivery method: sent, not hand-delivered, with a line saying no reply is needed. Amounts for reference: five hundred to a thousand rupees per parent is a normal standard, one thousand to two thousand for a more generous one. Above that an expectation forms that is expensive to sustain and awkward to withdraw, which is the practical argument rather than a moral one.

1
The spec, part one
One item, one price, every parent
Not a category or a budget - a named product, so nobody has to choose. A settled retail price, because upward drift is a budget conversation and downward drift is noticed. And the same gift regardless of who had the baby.
Tip: A warm gift for mothers and a card for fathers is seen by everybody and said by nobody.
2
The spec, part two
No personalisation, home delivery, no explaining
Anything needing a size, preference or engraving reintroduces a per-case decision. Some of these employees are not in an office for six months. And nothing that requires a visit - a visit from work is the hardest kind to host.
3
What meets it
Three tiers that map onto existing bands
Car perfume ₹449 to ₹509 at entry. Reed diffuser ₹749 to ₹849 as the recommended default. Complete Boond system ₹1,198 for senior tiers, or Sukoon complete at ₹2,198.
Tip: Write into the policy: never the machine alone, and never a card mentioning the return date.
The SOSA principle
If the policy says around eight hundred rupees, somebody has to choose every time - and that person will eventually leave.
Prices here are retail. Volume terms, minimum order quantities and lead times are not published, so ask rather than assume.

Three SKUs that meet one

Three catalogue products against one specification. All are standard rather than seasonal, which is the property that matters most for a standing policy.

The SOSA scent edit
Meets the spec
Scent Why it suits the mood
Entry · hanging car perfume ₹449 to ₹509 Completely neutral and more useful than the price suggests - one parent has taken over the driving, the errands and the late pharmacy run.
Standard · reed diffuser ₹749 to ₹849 The recommended default. One minute at the start, two to three months of work, unmistakably for a home. Entrance or living room, never a nursery.
Senior · complete Boond system ₹1,198 ₹899 machine with ₹299 concentrate, three to six drops per tank. Sukoon complete at ₹2,198. Never the machine alone, in writing.
In the policy document Every parent and every baby; tiers by grade or tenure; card written to the employee with no mention of the return date; sent, not hand-delivered.

A note from Sonal

When somebody has a baby, the gifts arrive in a wave and almost every one of them is for the baby. Clothes the child outgrows in six weeks, toys for an age they have not reached, blankets in a cupboard that already has nine. It is all kind and it is all well meant. But two adults have just gone through something enormous, and by the end of the first month neither of them has received a single thing addressed to them.

That is the whole reason this section exists. We do not make anything for babies, and nothing we sell is meant for a nursery or for a child's things - we make fragrance for adults. What we can do is give somebody an answer when they say: everybody is buying for the baby, what do I give her, or him, or the two of them. Usually the answer is something small, consumable and completely undemanding, because a new parent has no free hands, no spare surface and no appetite for anything that needs setting up.

One honest thing. If the person you are buying for is pregnant, be careful with personal fragrance. A great many people find that what they want to be near changes during those months, and a bottle somebody cannot go near is a worse gift than nothing at all - so either choose something for their home or their car, or let them pick it themselves later. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 and tell us who the adult is and what you know about them, and we will tell you honestly if we think fragrance is the wrong call. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.
