My Appliance Showroom Has High Ceilings — Will a Scent Machine Still Work?

It will, and the reason it sometimes appears not to is worth understanding, because it is the same reason so many tall showrooms end up with the wrong machine. A scent machine does not cover a floor; it charges a body of air, and the body of air in a room is its floor area multiplied by its height. Every SOSA machine is rated in cubic metres for exactly that reason - the SOSA Vaayu to 1000m³, the SOSA Angaan to 3,000m³ - and the square-foot figures printed beside those ratings are a convenience that assumes an ordinary ceiling of three metres or a little more. Change the ceiling and the convenience stops being true. Take a 2,500 sq ft floor. In square metres that is about 232. Under a three-metre ceiling it holds roughly 700m³ of air, well inside one Vaayu. Under a six-metre ceiling the same footprint holds about 1,400m³, which is past the Vaayu and honestly an Angaan. The floor did not change. The air did, and the air is what you are scenting. So the rule for a tall showroom is arithmetic before product: measure the height, multiply, and expect a double-height floor to move one step up the ladder - a floor that would have been a Vaayu becomes an Angaan, and a floor that would have been a reed at the desk may become a Vaayu bought for distribution. What the rule is not is permission to put two Vaayus in one tall room. One connected volume of air takes one machine; two sources in the same air produce two gradients that argue with each other, and how many machines a 3,000 sq ft store needs works through why. Then placement, which matters more in a tall room than anywhere else. Warm air in a double-height space stratifies: the top two or three metres are often warmer and stiller than the air people walk through, and a source released up there can charge a layer nobody breathes while the floor below smells of nothing. The instinct to mount as high as possible is therefore half right. Mount at the height of the supply grilles - typically three to four metres on a tall floor - on the wall the supply crosses, so the output joins the moving layer and comes down across the displays with the conditioned air. The wall mount on the Vaayu and the Angaan is what makes that height available; the HVAC mount is the alternative on a large tall floor, but only on a duct that serves the sales floor alone, confirmed by whoever maintains your plant. SOSA gives no engineering advice. Then the level. A tall room is forgiving on the day the setting is chosen and unforgiving after, because a drifted setting has more air to hide in before anyone notices; set it from the far point of the floor with the team at five in the afternoon and lock it. And the frame around every plan: fragrance is an interiors decision, like lighting or music. SOSA makes no claim that it changes dwell time, footfall, conversion or sales, no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction. The live kitchen and coffee counter stay unscented, whatever the ceiling. Ask for a showroom scenting plan and write the ceiling height on the plan you send; it is the number most owners leave off.
