What about the corridors and lobby during an event? Keep the house register running on the approach, because that is how guests find the building coherent. It is the function room itself that goes quiet.
What matters most between events? Ventilation and time. A banqueting room needs a real reset - extraction held on, waste and flowers cleared, linen out - before the next event arrives.
An event is already a fragrance event
The framing that makes this easy is that a wedding or a banquet is already a fragrance event, and a very strong one. Count the inputs. Flowers, which at an Indian wedding can be extraordinary in volume and are frequently the single strongest smell in the building for the day. Food, served for several hours in the room itself rather than plated in a kitchen, often including live counters. Three hundred to a thousand guests, at an occasion where people wear considerably more perfume than they would on an ordinary evening. Sometimes incense, lamps, or ritual elements that are part of the ceremony. Against all of that, an ambient register running underneath is not adding atmosphere; it is a fourth or fifth input that nobody selected, in a room where the family selected everything else. That last point is the one to hold onto: the client chose those flowers, and they paid for them. Adding your own register on top of somebody's chosen flowers is a small act of overruling. So the rule during an event is that the function room runs low or at nothing. If your system is timed, programme the gap; if it is not, this is one of the strongest arguments for using machines rather than reeds in banqueting spaces, because a machine can be scheduled and switched and a reed cannot. Where the house register belongs during an event is exactly where it belongs the rest of the time: on the approach. The entrance, the lobby, the lift lobby, the corridor or foyer leading to the function room. A guest arriving for a wedding walks through your building before they walk into the event, and that walk is your only opportunity to be the hotel rather than the venue. Keep it identical to the normal setting, because a change of level reads as the building quietening while a change of register reads as a fault, and a wedding guest may be a future direct customer forming their only impression of you that evening. The pre-function foyer deserves particular attention, since it is where guests gather, wait, and stand still, and where the event's own smells have not yet taken over. Then the reset, which is where a banqueting property actually wins or loses. A function room turns over fast and often, sometimes twice in a day, and every event leaves behind a heavy load: food residue, flowers past their best, spilled drink, damp linen, warm bodies, and whatever the soft furnishings have absorbed. The next client walks into whatever remains. This is a ventilation and clear-down problem, not a fragrance one. Run extraction at capacity during the event and hold it on well past the end rather than dropping back when the last guest leaves. Clear flowers, food waste and linen promptly rather than in the morning, because all three keep producing until they are removed - flowers in particular go from an asset to a liability within hours of an event ending. Open what can be opened. Get the room to neutral before anybody assesses it. And treat carpet, banquettes, drapes and chair covers as their own cleaning cycle written into the schedule, because a banqueting room accumulates faster than any other space in a hotel and releases it back on the next warm afternoon. Where the room is genuinely empty between events, a low level of the house register is appropriate and useful - it marks the space as part of the building for site visits, and site visits matter commercially, because a couple viewing a venue on a Tuesday afternoon is forming a judgement about the property. That is the one moment a banqueting room should be scented, and it is worth doing well: neutral, clean, aired, and carrying the house register at a whisper. A machine on a timer does this without anybody remembering. What not to do, stated plainly. Do not raise the level during or after an event to cover food or flowers or a room that has not been aired. Fragrance does not mask an existing smell, it combines with it, the combination is worse than either alone, and it adds a message the original did not carry - that somebody knew and chose to cover it. In a venue business, where the client is standing in the room with you, that is a bad message. And never scent the kitchen or pantry serving the event, ever, at any level. On register and hardware: one register across the property, varied only by level. Quiet Luxury, with white tea, bergamot and cedar, is the safest whole-property choice and holds its character at a whisper, which is what a pre-function foyer wants. Warm Welcome, with citrus, floral and sandalwood, suits an entrance. Forest Suite, with cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves, is dry and structural. White Tea Serenity, with white tea, aloe and cedar, is the softest we make. Tea Garden, with jasmine, green tea and white tea, stays green rather than sweet, which matters in a building that will have real flowers in it. Old-World Glamour, with amber, violet and woods, and Lobby Bar, with citrus, pepper and amber, belong in a bar. All seven are Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, they are SOSA's own interpretations, and we are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. A Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank suits a large foyer and gives a long run between refills; a Sukoon at Rs 1,799 suits a lift lobby or a smaller foyer; a Boond at Rs 799 suits a small space. Machines are preferable to reeds anywhere that needs to be switched off for an event, since reeds at Rs 749 to Rs 849 give continuous output with nothing to switch - excellent in a lift lobby, wrong inside a banqueting room. Machines take the water-based Hotel Collection at three to six drops per tank with a rinse between scents, never reed oil, which can damage them. And covered outdoor areas - which is where a great many Indian weddings actually happen - cannot hold fragrance and should be given none. The order of work is ventilation, moisture, housekeeping and laundry, and fragrance fourth. We make no therapeutic, medical or wellness claims of any kind, and SOSA ambient fragrance is for the air of a room only. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Volume pricing is quoted against a zone list on WhatsApp.
Flowers, food and three hundred people all arrived with their own
A wedding is already a fragrance event and a strong one. Count the inputs: flowers, which at an Indian wedding arrive by the vanload and are frequently the strongest smell in the building that day; food served in the room for hours rather than plated in a kitchen; three hundred to a thousand guests wearing considerably more perfume than on an ordinary evening; sometimes incense or lamps as part of the ceremony. Against that, an ambient register running underneath is not atmosphere, it is a fourth input nobody selected - in a room where the family selected everything else and paid for it. So the function room runs low or at nothing during an event, which is the strongest argument for machines rather than reeds in banqueting space, because a machine can be scheduled and a reed cannot. The house register stays exactly where it belongs, on the approach: entrance, lobby, lift lobby and pre-function foyer, unchanged, because a wedding guest walks through your building before they walk into somebody else's occasion, and that walk is your only chance to be the hotel rather than the venue.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
