This question is usually asked defensively, by someone who has been quoted for three machines and suspects they are being sold two too many. They generally are. But the way to settle it is not to take my word for it - it is a sum you can do yourself this afternoon with a tape measure.
Quick answers — read this first
Can one machine really cover a whole showroom? In most Indian kitchen showrooms, yes - and the reason people doubt it is that they are thinking about distance. Distance is not what limits a diffusion source. Air in a showroom is moving all day, pushed by the air conditioning and pulled by the front door, so a fragrance released at one end reaches the other end whether it is fifteen metres away or thirty. What actually limits one machine is a shut door or a separate air path - a second floor, a closed room with its own AC. Not the size of the hall.

How do I check it for my own building? Length times width times height in metres, deducting nothing for the displays, then compare against a rating in cubic metres. A 2,000 sq ft floor at a three-metre ceiling is roughly 560m³; a SOSA Vaayu is rated to 1000m³. That showroom is comfortably inside one machine and the unit will run at a low setting rather than working hard. Do the sum before you look at any quotation.

When is one machine genuinely not enough? Three cases. A second storey, which is a separate volume. A room that closes and has its own air conditioning. And a building whose cubic figure genuinely exceeds the rating - a large or double-height experience centre - where the answer is one SOSA Aangan at ₹25,999 into the air handling rather than several Vaayus scattered about. Otherwise: one machine, ₹11,999, total.
The short answer
Short answer: in most showrooms, yes. What limits a single machine is never the distance across the floor - air moves all day and carries the fragrance with it - but a shut door or a separate air path. Do the sum: length x width x height in metres, deducting nothing for displays, against a 1000m³ rating. A 2,000 sq ft floor at a three-metre ceiling is about 560m³, well inside one Vaayu (₹11,999). Under about 750 sq ft buy a Sukoon (₹1,899), and past roughly 5,000 sq ft an Aangan (₹25,999).
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for a connected showroom up to roughly 3,000 sq ft, or one SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) where the cubic figure has genuinely outgrown a single unit.
Next step: send the length, width and ceiling height in metres plus a note of any door that is genuinely kept shut, and we will do the arithmetic and tell you honestly whether one machine covers it - Ask for a retail scenting plan.

Straight answer
Can one scent machine fragrance an entire modular kitchen showroom?
In most Indian kitchen showrooms, yes - and I want to give you the arithmetic rather than the assurance, because the arithmetic is what protects you from a three-machine quotation. Start with the misconception, which is about distance. People picture a fragrance travelling outward from a machine like light from a lamp, getting fainter until it runs out somewhere in the middle of the second aisle. That is not how a room works. The air in your showroom is in constant motion during trading hours: the air conditioning pushes it from the supply grilles, the return pulls it back, the front door adds a shove every time it opens, and people walking the floor drag it along behind them. A whole showroom's worth of air is turned over many times a day. So a source at one end reaches the other end - not because the machine is powerful, but because the building is doing the moving. Distance is therefore almost never the limiting factor, and any argument for a second machine that rests on the words too far should be treated with suspicion. What genuinely limits one machine is different and much easier to check. It is a shut door or a separate air path. A second storey is a separate volume. A consultation room that is genuinely kept closed and has its own air conditioning is a separate volume. A demo kitchen behind a door with its own extraction is a separate volume - and one that stays unscented anyway. Everything on one connected floor, however many bays and aisles are drawn on it, is a single volume that a single source serves. Now the sum, which takes five minutes with a tape measure. Measure the floor length times width in metres, multiply by the actual ceiling height, and deduct nothing at all for the displays - they occupy floor, not the air you need to reach. A 1,000 sq ft showroom at a three-metre ceiling is roughly 280m³. A 2,000 sq ft floor is roughly 560m³. A 3,000 sq ft floor is roughly 840m³. One SOSA Vaayu is rated to 1000m³, so all three of those sit inside one machine, and the first two sit inside it comfortably enough that it runs at a low setting rather than working hard - which is what you want anyway, given that your customers are seated for ninety minutes. Total hardware spend: ₹11,999, one machine, whole showroom. Where the sum turns against you is height rather than width. A double-height experience centre can hold close to twice the air its floor area suggests, so a 3,000 sq ft centre with an atrium can be past 1,500m³ - and there the honest answer is not two or three Vaayus competing on one floor but one SOSA Aangan at ₹25,999 specified into the air handling. The other honest concession runs the other way: under about 750 sq ft, one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 is the right buy and a Vaayu would be roughly seven times the volume you own. And when one machine leaves a corner reading weak, the fix is to move it upstream or correct its height rather than to add a second, because two sources in one volume do not sum - they meet, and the meeting line is a change a customer walks through. Two standing limits. Fragrance is never used to mask another smell, so no arithmetic rescues a floor that is still off-gassing its own fit-out. And plainly: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries or order value, and a supplier quoting three machines with a figure attached is selling twice over. Ask for a retail scenting plan and send the measurements.
Usually yes. Distance never limits a machine - a shut door or a separate air path does. Measure length x width x height in metres against a 1000m³ rating: 2,000 sq ft at three metres is about 560m³. One Vaayu ₹11,999, a Sukoon ₹1,899 under 750 sq ft, an Aangan ₹25,999 past 5,000.
One SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, rated to 1000m³ - more air than most Indian kitchen showrooms actually contain, which is why one unit usually does the whole floor and does it at a low setting. Waterless, under 38dB, 90+ days a fill. Under about 750 sq ft the Sukoon at ₹1,899 is the honest buy instead.

The machine and its rating

The only figure that matters in this decision is a cubic one, so here are the two machines with their coverage stated the way it should be stated. The images link to the product pages so you can check the specifications yourself.

SOSA Vaayu
One connected showroom up to roughly 3,000 sq ft
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, which at a normal three-metre ceiling is about 2,000-3,000 sq ft of floor. 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock. Freestanding or wall and HVAC mountable.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Aangan
Where the cubic figure has genuinely outgrown one unit
SOSA Aangan
HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft, specified into the building's air handling. For a large or double-height experience centre this is the honest answer, and it is a better one than three Vaayus producing three competing gradients on a single floor.
From ₹25,999
SOSA Vaayu
Coverage stated in cubic metres, which is the only way it means anything
SOSA Vaayu
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft at a normal ceiling), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml and further supply should be confirmed with SOSA.

The three things that actually limit one machine

None of them is the width of your showroom. Check these three and you will know the answer for your own building without asking anybody.

1
Doors that are genuinely shut
The only wall air respects is one with a closed door in it
Walk the building at your busiest hour and note which doors are actually closed rather than which doors exist. A consultation room that closes between appointments is a separate volume; the same room with the door wedged open is an alcove off the display floor. A demo kitchen behind a closed door with its own extraction is a separate volume, and unscented by design in any case. A back office nobody visits is a separate volume you do not need to reach. What is not a boundary: an aisle, a tall unit, a bulkhead, a change of flooring, an open doorway. Air treats all of those as open floor, which is exactly why one machine covers a hall with five bays in it.
Tip: Ask the staff how the doors behave on a Saturday, not how they were drawn.

One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.

2
Separate air paths, especially another floor
Two storeys are two volumes with a stairwell between them
The clearest genuine limit is a second storey. Each floor draws, conditions and returns its own air, so a machine on the ground floor is not serving the first, and the stairwell is where the two meet and the thing worth checking on foot. The same logic applies to any part of the building served by its own indoor unit or its own duct branch - it may be open to the display floor and still be on a different air path. Confirm that with whoever maintains the system rather than from the drawings, because showrooms get extended and re-ducted more often than plans get updated. These are the cases where a second machine is a specification rather than a sale.
Tip: Two floors, two machines, one profile and one agreed level - the stairwell should feel like a fade, not a step.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.

3
A cubic figure past the rating
Height, not width, is what takes a showroom past one machine
The third limit is honest arithmetic. Most showrooms are inside 1000m³ and are covered by one unit; the ones that are not are almost always tall rather than wide. A 3,000 sq ft floor at three metres is about 840m³ and fine; the same plan with a double-height atrium can be past 1,500m³ and is not. When that happens, the answer is a bigger machine into the air handling rather than more small ones on the floor - three units in one connected volume make three competing gradients and still leave the corners thin. Measure any tall section separately and add it in rather than averaging the ceiling height across the building.
SOSA Aangan
One Aangan ₹25,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
See SOSA Aangan →
The SOSA principle
A machine does not push fragrance across a showroom; the building carries it. So the question is never how far a unit can throw, it is how many separate parcels of air your floor plan actually contains.
Which is why the honest answer to a bigger showroom is so often the same machine, measured properly.
SOSA Vaayu
Rated in the unit that matters: 1000m³, which at a normal ceiling is about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - and it is worth checking that against your own tape measure. ₹11,999.

The sum, showroom by showroom

Worked at a three-metre ceiling. Do yours with your own height, and add any double-height section separately rather than averaging.

The SOSA plan
Is one machine enough? The cubic arithmetic
The showroom What to do
SOSA Sukoon500 sq ft studio
Roughly 140m³. Far inside any machine's rating, which is exactly why the honest answer here is a Sukoon at ₹1,899 or a reed rather than a Vaayu.
1,000 sq ft showroom
Roughly 280m³. One machine, easily. This is the size where the decision is about control and scheduling rather than about coverage at all.
SOSA Vaayu2,000 sq ft display floor
Roughly 560m³, comfortably inside 1000m³. One Vaayu, run low, placed upstream. Total ₹11,999.
3,000 sq ft, normal ceiling
Roughly 840m³. Still one machine if it is one connected volume, and the question becomes placement rather than quantity.
3,000 sq ft with a double-height atrium
Can be past 1,500m³. Past one unit - and the answer is an Aangan into the air handling rather than two or three units on the floor.
Two floors of 1,500 sq ft each
Two volumes of roughly 420m³. Two machines, one profile, one agreed level, with the stairwell as the join to walk and check.

If you are weighing a single correctly sized unit against several smaller ones, that trade-off is worked through properly in one large scent machine versus multiple smaller machines. And if one machine is already installed but the far end of the floor smells of nothing, start with why you can smell the fragrance near reception but not across the showroom, which is an air-path problem rather than a capacity one. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

SOSA Vaayu
Comfortably inside its range: A 2,000 sq ft floor at three metres is roughly 560m³, so the machine sits low rather than working hard. ₹11,999.

Measure in metres, compare against a cubic rating, and count doors that genuinely close rather than distances across the floor. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like lighting or display styling; it is never used to mask another smell - not laminate, not adhesive, not cooking - and no capacity calculation fixes a floor that is still curing. And plainly: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, enquiries or order value, and a supplier quoting several machines with a business figure attached is selling twice. A note from Sonal

The people who ask me this have usually been quoted for three machines and have a suspicion they cannot quite justify. I like this question for that reason - it is somebody refusing to be talked into something, and the good news is that they are almost always right. The quotation is nearly always written in square feet, and square feet cannot answer the question, because a machine is displacing air rather than covering floor. Restate the building in cubic metres and most three-machine plans become one machine and a better position.

The idea that has to go is that fragrance gets tired as it travels. It does not; the room carries it. Your air conditioning pushes air across the floor all day and your front door pulls more of it through every few minutes, and a showroom's entire volume of air is turned over many times between opening and closing. So the useful questions are not about distance at all. They are: how many doors in this building are genuinely shut, is there another floor, and what does the tape measure say when the ceiling is included. Three questions, five minutes, no supplier required.

On hardware I would rather undersell, as ever. One Vaayu at ₹11,999 for a connected showroom up to roughly 3,000 sq ft. One Sukoon at ₹1,899 under about 750 sq ft, where a Vaayu is seven times the air you own. And where the sum genuinely says otherwise - a tall atrium, a very large centre - one Aangan at ₹25,999 into the air handling rather than three units arguing on one floor. Nothing edible in any of them. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Can one scent machine fragrance an entire modular kitchen showroom?
In most cases yes. Air in a trading showroom moves constantly, pushed by the air conditioning and pulled by the front door, so a single source reaches the whole of a connected floor regardless of how many metres across it is. What limits one machine is a shut door or a separate air path rather than distance. One Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated to 1000 cubic metres, which is more air than most Indian kitchen showrooms contain.
How do I work out whether my showroom is inside one machine's rating?
Measure length and width in metres, multiply by the actual ceiling height, and deduct nothing for the displays - they occupy floor rather than air. A 1,000 sq ft showroom at a three-metre ceiling is roughly 280 cubic metres, 2,000 sq ft is roughly 560 and 3,000 sq ft is roughly 840, against a rating of 1000. Measure any double-height section separately and add it in rather than averaging the height.
When do I genuinely need a second machine?
Three situations. A second storey, because each floor is a separate volume of air with a stairwell between them. A room that closes and has its own air conditioning. Or a cubic figure that genuinely exceeds the rating, which happens with height rather than width - and in that case the honest answer is one larger machine into the air handling rather than several small ones competing on one floor.
One corner of my showroom smells of nothing. Does that mean one machine is not enough?
Almost never. Uneven distribution is a map problem rather than a capacity problem: the machine is probably downstream of where air enters, or near the return grille that is drawing its output away, or at the wrong height. Move it upstream, get it to about a metre off the floor, and re-walk the building a day later. Adding a second unit in the same volume creates a seam where the two outputs meet.
Is a bigger machine better than several small ones for the same money?
For one connected volume, yes. Three small units in a single space do not combine into even coverage - they produce three competing gradients with seams between them, and they still tend to leave the corners thin, while giving you three dials that drift and three tanks to fill. One correctly sized machine placed upstream is simpler, quieter and usually cheaper.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference.
