A brand that owns its showrooms can standardise fragrance by instruction. A brand that sells through dealers cannot, because the floor belongs to someone else, and someone else has a manager with opinions and a socket near the desk. Yes, a dealer network can share one signature - if the brand supplies the page, the dealer owns the wall, and a key-lock holds the level on a floor the brand will never stand on.
Quick answers — read this first
Can an appliance brand create a signature fragrance for its dealer network? Yes, on a division of labour. The brand supplies the standard: the register, the named product, the level test each dealer runs with its own floor team, the placement rules, the demonstration rule and the review cadence. Each dealer owns the placement on its own floor - the wall, the AC path, the edge of its live kitchen - because only the dealer knows its floor. A dealer signature that tries to dictate the wall is ignored, and one that leaves the scent to the dealer is not a signature.

What makes it hold on a floor the brand does not control? The key-lock on the machine, and a named keyholder at each dealer. A brand cannot stand on forty floors, and on every one of them the fragrance level drifts upward the first morning someone finds the floor smelling of nothing. A SOSA Vaayu holds the result of the dealer's level test under a key-lock; the brand's standard names who at the dealer holds the key. That is the whole mechanism - a standard without a lock is a suggestion.

What is the honest recommendation? One SOSA Vaayu (Rs 11,999) per connected volume of air at each dealer, the brand's fragrance in every tank, key-locked to the level each dealer's team finds under the brand's test; a Mountain Breeze reed (Rs 849) at every reception desk and, for the smallest dealer under about 750 sq ft, on its own; one SOSA Angaan (Rs 25,999) at a flagship dealer with one floor past about 3,000 sq ft. Fragrance is an interiors decision like lighting or music; SOSA makes no claim that a dealer signature changes dwell time, footfall, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish.
The short answer
Short answer: yes - if the brand supplies the standard (register, product, level test, placement rules, demo rule, review) and each dealer owns the placement on its own floor. The key-lock on the machine and a named keyholder per dealer are what make it hold where the brand cannot stand.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) per connected volume at each dealer, locked to the brand's level; a Mountain Breeze reed (₹849) at every dealer desk and on its own at the smallest; one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) at a flagship dealer past about 3,000 sq ft.
Next step: send the dealer list with each floor's area, ceiling height and live-kitchen position and we will draft the brand page and size a machine per dealer volume - ask for a showroom scenting plan.

Straight answer
Can an appliance brand create a signature fragrance for its dealer network?
Yes, and the honest version of yes comes with a division of labour that most brands get wrong in one of two directions. The first wrong direction is the brand that writes a manual: a scent, a machine, a wall, a dial number, a photograph of where the unit goes, sent to forty dealers. It fails within a quarter, because dealer floors are not the brand's floors. One dealer's showroom is 900 sq ft with a display kitchen and a desk; another is a 4,000 sq ft experience centre with a live kitchen at the back and a double-height atrium; a third shares its floor with another brand's section and a coffee counter. The wall in the photograph does not exist at any of them, the dial number is loud at the glass-fronted dealer and faint at the walnut one, and the dealers, reasonably, do what they think best. The second wrong direction is the brand that sends fragrance and no standard, and lets each dealer put it wherever and however. That is not a signature; it is forty shops with a shared bottle. The version that works is a page and a lock. The brand supplies five things. The register: the dry, home-like family - cedar, sage, a little tea, light woods, a clean mineral note - and nothing sweet, powdery or edible, because every dealer floor has a hob and most have a coffee counter that own those smells. The product, named, the same in every tank, so the scent is identical across the network rather than a cousin. The level test - never a number - which each dealer runs with its own floor team: noticed at the first display, forgotten by the specification table, un-nameable at the desk, set for the advisor who stands on that floor nine hours a day, judged at the far point at five in the afternoon, and if the team says it is too much, it is too much. The placement rules, which every dealer plans its own floor from: inward from the door, high on the wall the AC supply crosses and away from the return, on the reception side of any demo zone, never inside a display kitchen. And the demonstration rule, written once: the live kitchen, the hob demonstration and the coffee counter stay unscented while the demonstration runs, the machine is off on the timer for the demo and the clearing time after, and extraction rather than fragrance clears the room. The dealer keeps one thing, and it is the thing only the dealer can know: the placement on its own floor - which wall, where the supply crosses, where its kitchen's edge is, what its demo hours are, and how big its volume of air is, which decides the machine. Then the mechanism that makes any of this hold on a floor the brand does not run. The brand cannot stand on forty floors, and on every one of them the level drifts upward the first morning an opener finds the floor smelling of nothing - it always does, after a night with the AC off. A SOSA Vaayu holds the result of each dealer's level test under a key-lock, and the brand's page names who at the dealer holds the key. That is the entire enforcement. Without the lock the page is advice; with it, the level the dealer's own team found is the level the floor runs at until the named keyholder changes it, and the brand's quarterly review - a walk from the door to the far point at five in the afternoon, by someone who did not set the level - is how the brand finds out whether it is still true. The machine per dealer follows the ladder: one Vaayu at ₹11,999 per connected volume of air for a dealer floor of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft - waterless, 1000m³, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity under the lock, under 38dB, wall or HVAC mount, 90+ days a fill, the four 100ml bottles in each box being that dealer's supply with refill availability confirmed with SOSA before the brand plans beyond them; a Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 at every dealer's desk and, for a dealer under about 750 sq ft, on its own; one SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999 at a flagship dealer that is one connected floor past about 3,000 sq ft. A dealer that shares a floor with other brands gets the desk reed and nothing in the shared air, because a brand may scent its own section's desk and not another brand's aisle. And the footing, which matters more in a dealer network than anywhere, because a dealer will ask what the scent is for. Fragrance is an interiors decision, like lighting or music, and the brand should say so on the page: SOSA makes no claim that a shared signature changes footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales at any dealer, and no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish on any floor; it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction, which every dealer owns. How to standardise fragrance across a multi-city chain is the page written out; ask for a showroom scenting plan and send the dealer list.
Yes - the brand supplies the page (register, named product, level test, placement rules, demo rule, review) and each dealer owns the placement on its own floor. The Vaayu's key-lock and a named keyholder per dealer make the brand's level hold where the brand cannot stand. One Vaayu (Rs 11,999) per dealer volume; a reed alone for the smallest.
One SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 per connected volume at each dealer - the brand's fragrance, 1000m³, adjustable intensity under a key-lock the brand's page names a holder for, 90+ days a fill.

The five things the brand supplies, and the one the dealer keeps

The division of labour in five cards. The brand supplies the first four and the review; the dealer keeps the fifth, and the lock is what connects them.

1
The register and the product
The brand chooses once, names the bottle, and writes the exclusion hardest
A dealer signature begins where any signature does: with a family chosen once, for the whole network, at the dealer with the hardest surfaces and the most cooking. For an appliance brand that is the dry, home-like register - Mountain Breeze's pine, sage and cedar in the SOSA range - and the exclusion is written harder than the choice: nothing sweet, nothing powdery, nothing edible at any dealer, because every dealer floor has a hob and the smell of the demonstration is the brand's own product. The product is named, not described, because two cedar accords from two houses are two scents and a network with regional substitutions has no signature. Every dealer's tank is filled from the same supply. How to choose a signature scent for a premium appliance brand is the five-step method, run once by the brand and never by a dealer.
Rule: if a dealer asks for a different scent, the brand's answer is the level test, not a second bottle.
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
Mountain Breeze - pine, sage, cedar - the register a brand names once for the whole network.

2
The level test
The brand supplies a method every dealer runs; it never supplies a number
The brand's page must not contain a dial setting, and this is where a manual-writing brand fails first. The same setting reads loud at a glass-and-lacquer dealer and faint at a walnut-and-stone one, because hard surfaces amplify and amplify differently; it reads fainter under a double-height ceiling and louder in a humid coastal city in the monsoon. So the brand supplies the test and the dealer supplies the number: noticed at the first display, forgotten by the specification table, un-nameable at the desk, set for the advisor who stands on the dealer's floor nine hours a day, judged at the far point at five in the afternoon with the dealer's own team, and if that team says it is too much, it is too much. How strong fragrance should be inside an experience centre is the test the page points every dealer to.
Rule: the brand signs off the method and the keyholder. The number belongs to the dealer's floor, and it is locked there.
3
The placement rules and the demo rule
The brand writes the rules; the dealer plans its own floor from them
The brand supplies rules, never positions. Inward from the door, because the threshold exchanges air all day and has no fragrance solution. High on the wall the AC supply crosses and away from the return; an HVAC mount only on a duct serving the sales floor alone, confirmed by whoever maintains the dealer's plant. On the reception side of any demo zone; nothing inside a display kitchen or a home-theatre room. Where a dealer shares a floor with other brands, the desk reed only and nothing in the shared air. And the demonstration rule, once: the live kitchen, the hob demonstration and the coffee counter stay unscented while the demonstration runs, the machine is off on the timer for the demo and the clearing time after, extraction clears the room, and scent returns when the room smells of nothing. The dealer sets its own timer to its own demo calendar. How to create even fragrance across multiple display zones is the placement method each dealer applies to its own plan.
SOSA Vaayu
The Vaayu mounts on the wall each dealer's plan needs and runs each dealer's demo hours on its own timer.
See SOSA Vaayu →
4
The lock and the keyholder
The one line that enforces itself on a floor the brand will never stand on
Everything the brand supplies can be ignored by a dealer, except this. On a shop floor fragrance drifts only upward: the opener turns it up on a morning when the floor smells of nothing and nobody turns it down, and across forty dealers that is forty drifts. The brand cannot stand on forty floors. The Vaayu's key-lock holds the result of each dealer's level test until the keyholder changes it, and the brand's page names that keyholder at each dealer - the dealer principal or the floor manager, never "the team". The lock is what turns the brand's page into a standard; the name is what turns the lock into accountability; and the brand's quarterly review - a walk from the door to the far point at five in the afternoon by someone who did not set the level - is how the brand finds out whether the page is still true at each dealer. Whether every branch should smell the same is the same mechanism where the branches are the brand's own.
Rule: a standard without a lock is a suggestion. A lock without a named keyholder is a lock with the key left in it.
5
What the dealer keeps
The wall, the AC path, the demo hour and the size - and therefore the machine
The dealer keeps the four things only the dealer can know, and the brand's page says so plainly, because a dealer who is told the brand respects its floor obeys the rest of the page. The wall and the AC path come from the dealer's own plan. The demo hours come from the dealer's own kitchen calendar. And the size of the dealer's connected volume of air decides the machine: a dealer under about 750 sq ft is a reed at the desk and nothing else - or a Sukoon in one enclosed studio room if a daily water routine suits it, with the moisture said plainly; a dealer of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft is one Vaayu per connected volume, a two-floor dealer two; a flagship dealer with one connected floor past about 3,000 sq ft is one Angaan, never two Vaayus in one air. How to calculate scent-machine requirements for a large store is the volume method each dealer runs on its own floor.
SOSA Angaan
The Angaan is the flagship-dealer machine - one connected floor past ~3,000 sq ft, the brand's scent on the plant.
See SOSA Angaan →
The SOSA principle
A brand can give its dealer network one signature only by supplying the page and surrendering the wall - and the key-lock on the machine is the single line of the page that enforces itself on a floor the brand will never stand on.
Brand: register, product, level test, placement rules, demo rule, review. Dealer: the wall, the AC path, the demo hour, the size. Lock: the level, with a name.
SOSA Vaayu
The dealer machine, locked to the brand's level: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, 1000m³, adjustable intensity under a key-lock, timer, 90+ days a fill.

Dealer by dealer: brand's page, dealer's floor

The same division of labour laid over the dealers a network actually has. In each row the left column is the dealer's floor and the right column is what the brand's page fixes and what the dealer decides.

Brand: the same register. Dealer: a Mountain Breeze reed at the desk and no machine - a Vaayu in that room is more source than the air can use. View →
SOSA SukoonA dealer with one enclosed design studio off the floor
Brand: the register. Dealer: a Sukoon in that one room if a daily water routine suits it, moisture said plainly - or the reed, if it would rather add nothing. View →
A multi-brand dealer where the brand has a section on a shared floor
Brand: the desk reed in its own section, and nothing in the shared air - a brand may scent its own desk and not another brand's aisle. Dealer: where its desk is, and the floor's own rules for the rest.

The pages either side of this one: whether a premium appliance experience centre should have a signature fragrance is the question for a single site, how to create a consistent scent experience for designers is the same written standard from the architect's side, and what a premium appliance showroom should smell like is the register the brand names. SOSA makes no claim that a dealer signature changes footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales at any dealer, and no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish.

A note from Sonal

Brands come to me with a manual and dealers come to me with the manual crumpled. The manual says which wall and which number, and the dealer with the glass front and the coffee counter knows that both are wrong for her floor, so she does what she thinks best, and the brand's signature is the brand's signature at head office and something else at every dealer. I do not blame her. A brand that dictates a wall on a floor it has never stood on has asked to be ignored.

What I write for a brand is shorter and stricter. The register and the product, named once. The level test, which every dealer runs with its own team, and which never contains a number. The placement rules and the demonstration rule - the live kitchen and the coffee counter stay unscented while the demonstration runs, at every dealer, without exception. And a keyholder's name at each dealer, because the lock on the Vaayu is the only line on the page that enforces itself, and a lock with no name is a lock with the key left in it. Then the brand gives up the wall, and says so on the page, and the dealer, having been trusted with her own floor, keeps the rest.

The footing belongs on the brand's page in the brand's words, because a dealer will ask what the scent is for. Fragrance is an interiors decision like lighting or music: no claim that a shared signature changes footfall, dwell time or sales at any dealer, no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish, never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction, which every dealer owns. A Mountain Breeze reed at every desk, a Vaayu per volume, an Angaan for the flagship. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What should an appliance brand supply to its dealers for a shared signature fragrance?
Five things on one page: the register and the named product, the same in every dealer's tank; the level test each dealer runs with its own floor team, never a dial number; the placement rules every dealer plans its own floor from, never a wall; the demonstration rule - the live kitchen and coffee counter stay unscented while a demo runs; and a review cadence, with a named keyholder at each dealer. The brand gives up the placement itself, because only the dealer knows its floor.
How does a brand enforce a fragrance level at dealer showrooms it does not run?
With the key-lock on the machine and a named keyholder. On any shop floor the level drifts upward the first morning someone finds the floor smelling of nothing, and a brand cannot stand on forty floors to stop it. A SOSA Vaayu holds the result of each dealer's own level test under a key-lock until the keyholder changes it; the brand's page names who that is at each dealer, and a quarterly walk to the far point of the floor at five in the afternoon checks that the page is still true.
Should every dealer in a network run the same scent machine?
The same fragrance, and a machine sized to each dealer's connected volume of air. A dealer floor of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft is one SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999; a two-floor dealer is two Vaayus; a flagship dealer with one connected floor past about 3,000 sq ft is one SOSA Angaan at Rs 25,999 rather than two Vaayus in one air; a dealer under about 750 sq ft is a Mountain Breeze reed at the desk and no machine. Every dealer, whatever its size, has the same reed at its reception desk.
What about a multi-brand dealer where the brand only has a section of the floor?
The brand's desk reed in its own section, and nothing in the shared air. A brand may scent its own reception desk and may not scent another brand's aisle, and a machine in a shared volume of air would do exactly that. The reed reaches one desk zone by design, which in a brand section is the brand's own counter, and it carries the same register as every dedicated dealer. The rest of that floor runs on the dealer's own rules, not the brand's page.
Why should a brand's dealer fragrance standard not contain a dial setting or a wall position?
Because dealer floors are not the brand's floors. The same setting reads loud at a glass-and-lacquer dealer and faint at a walnut-and-stone one, since hard surfaces amplify differently; it reads fainter under a tall ceiling and louder in a humid city in the monsoon. And the wall in a head-office photograph does not exist on most dealer plans. A standard that fixes either is wrong at most dealers and ignored at all of them; the brand supplies the test and the rules, and the dealer supplies the number and the wall.
