The bands: under about 120m³ a Sukoon at ₹1,899 is the honest answer. Above roughly 250–300m³ of one connected volume, no passive or ultrasonic format reaches it and the Vaayu at ₹11,999 is the category change.
What the Vaayu actually covers: up to 1000m³ — the manufacturer's figure — which SOSA states as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft because ceiling height decides which end you land on.
The gap you must know before buying: SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil. The 400ml in the box is the supply available today. If long-term supply matters to your operation, ask SOSA before you spend.
2. Measure it with the doors as guests leave them. Not as your floor plan draws them. Walk in at check-in time, note which doors are shut, and measure only what remains joined together.
3. Multiply by ceiling height, because volume is cubic. The arithmetic: connected sq ft × ceiling height in feet ÷ 35.3 = cubic metres. A 1,400 sq ft connected floor at 10 ft is 14,000 cu ft, and 14,000 ÷ 35.3 = about 397m³.
4. Match the number to a format, not to a price. Under about 120m³, a Sukoon at ₹1,899. Between roughly 120 and 250m³, a Sukoon placed at the junction plus reeds, or two Sukoons. Above 250–300m³ of genuinely open connected volume, no ultrasonic reaches it and the Vaayu at ₹11,999 is the category change rather than the next size up.
5. Do not read the Megh at ₹3,499 as a coverage upgrade. Its 6L tank buys about 100 hours of runtime, but its coverage is roughly 215 sq ft — less than the ₹1,899 Sukoon's 270–320. It is a runtime and humidity machine. Buying it to reach further is the commonest sizing mistake in this range.
6. Know what you cannot buy yet. SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil; the machine ships with 400ml of cold-air fragrance and that is the supply available today. Confirm current availability with SOSA before committing if you need continuity.

Part one — how to measure what actually needs scenting
The listing describes a property. The machine has to fill a volume. Those two things diverge more than most hosts expect, and they diverge in a direction that usually saves money. A guest arriving at nine in the evening does not experience 2,400 square feet of carpet area; they experience whatever air is joined to the front door at the moment they open it. That is the figure to buy against, and there is a twenty-minute method for finding it that needs nothing but a tape measure and a walk-through at the hour your check-ins actually happen.
Sukoon₹1,899 · 270–320 sq ftCoverage claims come in square feet because floor area is what people can quote from a rental agreement, but air is cubic. The conversion is simple enough to do on a phone: connected floor area in square feet × ceiling height in feet ÷ 35.3 = cubic metres. An 800 sq ft connected living-dining at a standard 10 ft ceiling is 8,000 cu ft, and 8,000 ÷ 35.3 = about 227m³. Raise that ceiling to 14 ft for a double-height section and the same floor plan becomes 11,200 ÷ 35.3 = about 317m³ — forty per cent more air from a change that does not appear on any listing. This is why two hosts with identical square footage can need different machines, and why the Vaayu's 1000m³ rating translates to a range of 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft rather than a single number.Part two — the sizing table, by connected volume
Here is the whole range arranged against the only measurement that matters. The square-foot column assumes a standard 10 ft ceiling and exists purely so you can sanity-check your metric figure; if your ceilings are higher, trust the cubic column and ignore the square feet entirely.
| Connected volume | Roughly, at a 10 ft ceiling | What holds it | Price | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Under 45m³ | Up to ~150 sq ft | One Boond, or a single reed diffuser | ₹899 · reeds from ₹749 | Boond runs ~6 hrs a fill — fine for a bathroom, short for a whole evening |
| 45–120m³ ★ | ~150–420 sq ft | One Sukoon — where most listings honestly stop | ₹1,899 | Adds humidity; three 15ml scents in the box, then you buy more |
| 120–250m³ | ~420–880 sq ft | A Sukoon at the junction plus reeds in the side rooms, or two Sukoons | ₹1,899–₹3,798 plus reeds | Two machines means two smells unless you run one scent in both |
| 250–1000m³ | ~880–3,500 sq ft | One Vaayu, placed at the junction of the connected volume | ₹11,999 | No separate refill oil is sold today — 400ml in the box is the supply |
| Above 1000m³ | Above ~3,500 sq ft | Aangan ducted into HVAC, or two Vaayu units on separate floors | ₹25,999 · or 2 × ₹11,999 | Commercial territory; needs ductwork or a genuine floor split |
| Any size | Any | Megh 6L — for runtime, not reach | ₹3,499 | ~215 sq ft coverage, less than the ₹1,899 Sukoon. Never a coverage upgrade |
| The honest caveat: these bands are working guidance from our own testing and from host correspondence, not laboratory measurements, and every one of them moves with ventilation, ceiling height, furnishing density and season. A soft-furnished, carpeted room absorbs fragrance and reads a band smaller; a marble-and-glass villa with the doors open reads a band larger. Treat the table as a starting point and your own first fortnight as the real test. And nothing on this page — nothing anywhere on this site — should be read as a claim that scenting a listing changes its rating, its reviews, its bookings or its occupancy. Nobody can promise that, ourselves included. | ||||

Part three — when the answer is not a machine at all
I would rather lose the sale than sell a host eleven thousand rupees of coverage they will never use, so let me put the negative case as clearly as the positive one. If your connected common volume comes out under about 120m³, the Vaayu is the wrong purchase and a Sukoon at ₹1,899 will do the job properly — 270 to 320 sq ft, sixteen to eighteen hours on low, a remote and steady, two-hour and four-hour timers, and three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances in the box so you can find your signature before you commit to a bottle of it. That covers a very large share of Indian two-bedroom listings, and it costs less than a sixth of the machine this cluster is named after. Buying the bigger machine for a smaller room does not make the room smell more; it makes you turn the intensity down.
The second reason to hold off is supply, and it applies to every host reading this. SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil. The machine arrives with four Hotel Collection fragrances at 100ml each — 400ml in total — and at the quoted 90+ days per fill that is the fragrance available to you at the time of writing. This is a real gap and I would rather name it the way we name the missing replacement reeds in our diffuser range than let a host discover it in month four. Note too that the cold-air oil in the Vaayu box and the water-based Hotel Collection sold for ultrasonic machines are different products that happen to share scent names; the water-based bottles are for a Sukoon or a Boond and do not go into a Vaayu. If continuity of supply is a condition of your operation — and for a host running weekly turnovers it reasonably might be — write to SOSA and ask what refill availability looks like before you spend, not after.
The third reason is that a machine cannot fix an unaired property, and a great many "my listing smells wrong" problems are not fragrance problems at all. A flat that has stood closed for four days in a Mumbai August develops its own smell from damp textiles, a dry drain trap and a fridge nobody emptied. Fragrance layered on top of that does not remove it; it sits beside it and makes something worse than either. The order is always ventilate, clean, dry, and only then scent. A scent machine adds fragrance to air. It does not clean air, remove odour or change how anyone feels, and any seller who tells you otherwise is selling you something a diffuser is not. What it genuinely does is give a guest a considered, consistent first ninety seconds — and that is worth having on its own terms, without dressing it up as anything more.
Part four — four real listings, measured and sized
These are composites of properties hosts have written to me about, worked through the method above. The point is not the products; it is how far the sized answer drifts from what the bedroom count would have suggested.
| The listing | Connected common area, doors as guests leave them | Volume | What we would run | Capital |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2BHK city flat, 950 sq ft ★ | Living-dining plus hall, 420 sq ft at 10 ft | 4,200 ÷ 35.3 = ~119m³ | One Sukoon plus reeds in both bedrooms | ₹1,899 + reeds |
| 3BHK, 1,450 sq ft, open kitchen | Hall, living, dining and kitchen, 700 sq ft at 10 ft | 7,000 ÷ 35.3 = ~198m³ | Sukoon at the junction plus reeds, or a Vaayu if you want scheduling | ₹1,899 or ₹11,999 |
| 4BHK duplex, 2,400 sq ft | Ground floor common, 1,150 sq ft at 11 ft, open stair | 12,650 ÷ 35.3 = ~358m³ | One Vaayu on the common floor, reeds in the four bedrooms | ₹11,999 + reeds |
| Villa, 4,500 sq ft over two floors | Ground floor, 1,800 sq ft averaging 12 ft with a double-height section | 21,600 ÷ 35.3 = ~612m³ | One Vaayu at the hall-to-living junction, reeds upstairs | ₹11,999 + reeds |
| Loft studio, 1,100 sq ft, no internal doors | All of it, at 16 ft | 17,600 ÷ 35.3 = ~499m³ | One Vaayu — a one-bedroom listing that genuinely needs it | ₹11,999 |
Versailles
The letters that reach me from hosts have a pattern. They almost never begin with a measurement; they begin with a purchase history. Two reed diffusers that were not enough, then an ultrasonic that was not enough, then a bigger ultrasonic that was somehow no better. Every one of those buys was a guess at a number nobody had told them to work out. Twenty minutes with a tape measure would have replaced all three.
I am also conscious that we sell every product on that ladder, which makes it easy to look like we are always recommending upward. So let me be explicit about the direction I actually recommend most often: down. The commonest correct answer for a host writing to me about a large-sounding listing is a ₹1,899 Sukoon in the living area and a reed diffuser behind each closed door, because the bedrooms were never part of the machine's job in the first place. The Vaayu earns its price in one specific situation — a genuinely large, genuinely connected volume that you also need to schedule and lock — and outside that situation it is an expensive way to buy a setting you will turn down.
The last thing I would say to any host is about promises. Scent gives your guest a considered arrival, and arrival is real and describable. It does not raise your rating, fill your calendar or change your nightly rate, and I have never seen a credible piece of evidence that it does. Buy it because you want the first ninety seconds of your property to be deliberate. That is reason enough, and it is the only one I am willing to stand behind.
