The nose reads several unrelated florals at once as a blur rather than as richness, and the result is a house where nothing is distinct, including the flowers you paid for. A clean or dry register does the opposite: it sits in a different part of the spectrum, so the flowers read as flowers and the house reads as looked after. Honest notes before you buy anything. Coverage ratings assume connected air volume. A machine cannot push scent through a closed bedroom door, and it never will - so a partitioned villa is not one scenting problem but several, and honest sizing means saying so out loud rather than selling you one machine and hoping. Scent the volume that is genuinely open to itself, then give the closed rooms their own quiet answer, usually a reed diffuser. Fragrance never substitutes for ventilation or cleaning. If a room smells damp, stale or of last night's cooking, open it, air it and clean it first; scent added on top of that only makes a more complicated bad smell. A home is not a lobby you pass through. Households include children, elderly parents, pregnant family members and pets, all of whom breathe this air far longer than any visitor does, which is why gentle dosing is the default at home and why the settings we suggest are lower than the machine can run. There is a difference between a room that smells nice and a home that has a signature, and almost nobody is told what it is. A room that smells nice is an event: you light a candle, you spray something in the hallway before people arrive, it is lovely for forty minutes and then it is gone. Somewhere else in the house a bathroom gel is doing one thing, a kitchen spray another, and a bedroom reed a third. Four pleasant smells in four rooms is not a fragranced home. It is four rooms.
A signature is the opposite. It is one scent, sized to the house, running on a schedule - so it is already in the air when someone walks through your front door, and already there at eleven at night when you come home yourself, and nobody has lifted a finger to make it happen. That is the whole trick the great hotels use, and it is not complicated: they do not chase smells room by room, they hold one fragrance across the volume people actually move through. In a villa that usually means the entrance, the living room and the dining as one connected space, with the closed rooms handled separately and quietly.

Which SOSA fragrance is the safest choice if I cannot decide?
The Westin-inspired register - white tea, aloe and cedar. It is the serene, spa-like white tea signature and the quietest of the seven, which at a wedding function is the quality that matters most: a hundred relatives across three generations are going to be in your house, none of them chose the fragrance, and the register least likely to have anybody objecting to it is worth more than the one you personally find most interesting. It also contrasts cleanly with everything a wedding house already contains - marigold, tuberose, turmeric, henna and catering - rather than competing with any of it. If you want a little more brightness for a daytime function, the Ritz-Carlton-inspired white tea, bergamot and cedar is the same idea with a citrus lift. Both come in Bundle A and Bundle B with the Vaayu at Rs 11,999, and both exist water-based for the ultrasonic machines from Rs 299, with a pack of all seven at 15ml for Rs 1,799 if you would rather try them properly beforehand. Which of these is the strongest, so it holds up at a busy function?
We do not publish comparative strength, throw or longevity figures for these seven registers, and we are not going to imply an order that does not exist. What is fair to describe is character: a warm amber-and-woods register such as the St. Regis-inspired reads as more present in a room than an airy white-tea one such as the Westin-inspired, and that is a perceptual observation rather than a measurement. In practice, how far a fragrance carries in your house is set by the machine, the intensity setting and the volume of the room, not by which blend is in it - a gentle register in a well-sized machine placed in the middle of a connected hall will read far more evenly than a characterful one in an undersized machine in a corner. The deeper issue is the goal behind the question. A fragrance strong enough to hold up against marigold, turmeric, henna and catering is strong enough to be an object in the room, and at that level guests notice the product rather than the house. Choose for character, size the machine properly, and dose gently.
Is there a special wedding fragrance in the SOSA range?
There is no wedding-specific blend and we would rather say that plainly than invent one. What exists is seven hotel-inspired registers, and the useful question is which of them reads well in a wedding house rather than which is labelled for the occasion. On that basis the answer is the clean and dry end: the Westin-inspired white tea, aloe and cedar and the Ritz-Carlton-inspired white tea, bergamot and cedar for the safe and bright picks, and the 1 Hotels-inspired cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves if your home is built of wood, stone and plants and you want something drier. The St. Regis-inspired amber, violet and woods is the one that suits an indoor evening engagement specifically. Can I use a different fragrance in the guest bedrooms from the hall?
Use the same family rather than the same product, and that distinction is the whole answer. Bedrooms are behind closed doors, so no machine reaches them and they need their own product anyway - a reed from Rs 749 is the right one, since it needs no power, makes no noise and can simply be removed if the person sleeping there prefers no fragrance. What matters is that the change at each doorway is a shade rather than a subject change, because a nose reads several unrelated pleasant smells in quick succession as confusion rather than as variety, and during a wedding week guests cross those thresholds many times a day. So if the hall is running a clean white tea, keep the bedrooms in the same clean direction rather than putting a bold citrus-and-pepper register in one and something floral in the next. And ask the relatives staying with you: people sleeping in a room for four nights have a much stronger claim on its air than the host does, and anybody reporting a headache is a signal to remove it rather than to reduce it.
Does the fragrance need to match the theme or the decor colours?
No, and chasing that connection tends to produce worse decisions than ignoring it. Colour and scent do not map onto each other in any reliable way, and a register chosen because it sounds like it matches a gold-and-ivory theme is a register chosen for a reason your guests cannot perceive. What guests actually perceive is whether the house feels composed - whether the entrance smells clean and considered, whether the washroom has been looked after, whether the air has been changed that morning - and none of that is a matter of theme. Choose instead on two practical grounds. First, contrast with what is already in the house, which at a wedding means clean and dry against all that marigold, tuberose, turmeric and henna. Second, who is in the room: a large mixed family with elderly relatives, pregnant cousins and small children sets the ceiling, and the quietest register run low is almost always the right call. If you want the fragrance to feel connected to the occasion, hold one register across the whole week so that people associate it with your house rather than with a colour scheme.
