Is a 2BHK too large for one reed diffuser? Yes. A diffuser scents the room it sits in, so any home with more than one room needs more than one bottle.
So when is a machine actually needed? When there are too many zones to bottle sensibly, roughly five or more, or when the home is one open volume with no rooms at all.
Almost every home is too large for one reed diffuser
There is a hidden assumption in this question and it is worth pulling out before spending anything, because it is the assumption that sells machines to people who did not need one. The phrase too large for one reed diffuser sounds like a threshold has been crossed. It has not. Almost every home in India is too large for one reed diffuser, including a compact two bedroom flat, because a reed diffuser scents the room it is standing in. That is what it is for. It works by evaporation into the air immediately around it, so its field is a room, and the moment a home has a second room with a door or a corner it has outgrown one bottle. Nobody describes a 2BHK as too large for one bottle, though, because the obvious answer there is a second bottle - and that same obvious answer is usually still right at two thousand square feet. So the question to replace it with is not how many square feet the house has. It is how many zones actually need scenting, which is a smaller number than people expect once they are honest about it. A zone is a place where somebody would notice fragrance and want it: the living room, the dining if it is separate, the main bedroom, a second bedroom in use, a study, an entrance, a guest bathroom. A zone is not every room on the floor plan. Nobody needs the utility scented. A guest bedroom used four times a year does not need a permanent bottle in it, and a store room certainly does not. Count the zones that matter and one of two things happens. If the answer is two, three or four, the correct purchase is that many reed diffusers, and the whole machine conversation can be closed. Morning Freshness at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees for fifty millilitres and one thousand two hundred and forty-nine for one hundred and thirty; Garden Bloom and Evening Calm at seven hundred and ninety-nine and one thousand two hundred and ninety-nine; Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew at eight hundred and forty-nine and one thousand three hundred and forty-nine. Four of the hundred and thirty millilitre bottles is about five thousand rupees and covers a decently large home properly, with three hundred millilitre refills at two thousand three hundred and ninety-nine rupees afterwards. It also gives something one machine cannot: a different register in each zone, which is why the duo sets exist at one thousand four hundred and ninety-eight to two thousand five hundred and ninety-eight rupees, pairing Morning Freshness with Evening Calm, Morning Freshness with Mountain Breeze, or Fresh Brew with Garden Bloom. As a gift this is a better present than most people assume, because it looks generous, it arrives complete, and nothing has to be installed or learned. If the answer is five or more zones, the calculation genuinely changes, and not only on money. Five or six bottles is a maintenance job rather than a decoration - five bottles to notice, refill on different cycles and eventually replace, and in practice what happens is that two of them run empty and stay on the shelf half full for a year. That is the real failure mode in large homes, and it is not a product fault; it is simply what five separate consumables do. And there is a category of zone that no bottle handles at all: corridors, stairwells, landings, entrances, the volume above a double-height room. These are precisely the places that make a big home feel unfinished, and there is no console table in a corridor to put a bottle on. That is where the SOSA Vaayu at eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees is not an upgrade but a different mechanism. It is waterless: pressurised air breaks undiluted oil into a dry nano-mist fine enough to travel with the air the home is already moving, so instead of a source per room there is one field across the whole volume, rated up to a thousand cubic metres, about two thousand to three thousand square feet. Four hundred millilitre tank, weeks per fill, Bluetooth app or onboard buttons, one, four, eight and twenty-four hour windows with day selection and adjustable intensity, under thirty-eight decibels, five watts, nine hundred grams, freestanding on a shelf or mounted on a wall or an HVAC return, and four one hundred millilitre hotel-inspired oils included so it runs the evening it is opened. Refills afterwards are the nebuliser oils at one thousand and forty-nine rupees for a hundred grams or one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine for three hundred, and never the water-based Hotel Collection, which belongs to ultrasonic machines and is a separate system. The second thing that changes the answer regardless of zone count is layout. If living, dining and kitchen are one open volume, the zone count is one and it is enormous - and that is the strongest machine case there is, because there are no rooms for bottles to occupy. Conversely a compartmented home with four ordinary rooms is a bottle house even at two thousand square feet, because each room can have a source sized for it. Two honest closing notes. If the home is above roughly three thousand square feet, or is not a home at all but a showroom, clinic or office, the answer is above the Vaayu: SOSA Angaan at twenty-five thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees for around eight to ten thousand square feet and SOSA Meenar at thirty-eight thousand five hundred for twelve to eighteen thousand, both HVAC nebulising units. And if the person would simply rather not have a device, give bottles whatever the zone count says, because the best product is the one that actually gets used. In a new house, neither answer starts immediately - paint, varnish and new joinery need open windows for a few weeks, since fragrance is a finishing touch and never a fix.
Including a 2BHK. One bottle was never meant to do a house - count zones instead
One honest count, and the answer usually costs less than expected.

Versailles
The Vaayu is the most expensive thing we make and we turn down more orders for it than for anything else in the range. Not because we do not want to sell it - because most homes do not need it. It covers up to a thousand cubic metres, roughly two to three thousand square feet, and that is a villa, a penthouse, a large open-plan flat or a house with a double-height room. An ordinary 2BHK is not that, and in an ordinary 2BHK a reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees does the job better than eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees of machine would. So the question we ask is never what somebody spent on their house. It is how many cubic metres of air are in it.
The second thing we say, and almost nobody expects it, is wait a few weeks. A brand-new home smells of paint, varnish, polish, cement and new wood, and those are not smells to cover - they need open windows and time, and they go on their own. Give the machine at the housewarming by all means, but tell them the scenting starts once the building has finished smelling of being built. It is the same rule we apply to a new car, for the same reason: adding fragrance to a smell that is fading anyway is how a good product gets blamed for a bad result.
Two honest limits. Reed diffusers do not fail in large homes, they simply do not reach - a diffuser on a console table scents the area around that console table, which is not a fault, it is physics, and several of them is a real alternative to one machine. And there are two machines above the Vaayu, the Angaan and the Meenar, which are HVAC units for showrooms and hotel floors rather than houses - so if a home is genuinely far beyond three thousand square feet, message us rather than assuming more money solves it.
