Is a reed diffuser worth it if I already have an electric diffuser?
In most homes, yes, because they end up in different rooms doing different jobs. An electric diffuser is the thing you run in the room you are in when you want that whole room to smell of something. How long does a reed diffuser last, and can I make it last longer?

Warmth speeds evaporation, so a hot May room will run through it faster than a cool December one. Air movement does the same, so a bottle beside a fan or an open window empties sooner. If you want to stretch it, use fewer reeds, keep it out of draughts and out of direct sun, and flip weekly rather than every other day. Is a reed diffuser safe around children and pets?
The format itself is about as undemanding as home fragrance gets, since there is no flame, no heat, no cord and nothing running unsupervised. The sensible precautions are about the oil rather than the mechanism. Keep the bottle out of reach, stand it on a stable surface where it cannot be knocked over by a tail or an elbow, and use a tissue when you flip the reeds so the oil does not end up on hands or furniture. Wipe up any drips promptly, especially on wood or polished stone. Dose gently and let ventilation come first in any room shared with children, elderly relatives, pregnant family members or pets, all of whom breathe that air far longer than a visitor does, and treat anyone reporting a headache as a signal to move the bottle or use fewer reeds.
