The question arrives dressed as sophistication: cedar for the cooking zone, something cooler for the refrigeration wall, a "fresh" note for the laundry corner, a touch of warmth in the lounge. It sounds like curation. What it produces, in one connected room, is a fourth smell that nobody chose and nobody can name.
Quick answers — read this first
Should different kitchen-appliance display zones have different fragrances? No. A visitor walks from the cooking zone to the cooling wall to the laundry corner in under a minute, and the zones share one connected volume of air. Where two fragrances meet - and in one room they always meet - they combine into a third that neither of them was designed to be. One register for the whole floor, chosen by the dominant finish; the only thing that varies between zones is distance from the single source. The demo kitchen and any tasting counter smell of nothing.

But surely the refrigeration zone and the cooking zone are different experiences? They are, and the difference is carried by the appliances, the finishes, the lighting and - in the cooking zone - by whatever is on the hob. Fragrance is the one layer that should stay constant, because it is the one layer the visitor cannot see the edge of. Different lighting has a boundary you can point at; different scents have a mixing zone you walk through without knowing. Let the merchandise vary the zones and let the air stay the same.

So what does SOSA recommend for a zoned floor? One SOSA Vaayu (Rs 11,999) for a connected floor of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft, mounted high on the reception wall on the AC path, carrying one register - Mountain Breeze for wood, stone and dark glass, Morning Freshness for white - to every zone at a level that falls gently with distance. One SOSA Angaan (Rs 25,999) past about 3,000 sq ft. A second scent belongs only to a second floor with its own air, and even then it should be the same register. Fragrance is an interiors decision like lighting - SOSA makes no claim that it changes footfall, dwell time or sales, and no claim about what it does to any appliance.
The short answer
Short answer: no. Zones share one connected air, a visitor crosses them in seconds, and two fragrances meeting make a third nobody chose. One register for the floor, one source, one level; zones differ only by distance from it. The demo kitchen and tasting counter smell of nothing.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) carrying a single register - Mountain Breeze (₹849) for wood, stone and dark glass, Morning Freshness (₹749) for white - to every zone on a connected floor of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft; one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) past about 3,000 sq ft.
Next step: send a plan with the zones, the demo kitchen and the AC grilles marked - ask for a showroom scenting plan and we will show how one source reaches each zone at the right distance.

Straight answer
Should different kitchen-appliance display zones have different fragrances?
No, and I would like to explain why in terms of what actually happens to the air, because the idea is seductive and the argument against it is not about taste. Picture the floor. A cooking zone with hobs and ovens, a cooling wall of integrated refrigeration, a dishwasher run with a sink display, a laundry corner, a small lounge with a coffee machine, and a reception. To the eye these are five or six distinct experiences, and it feels natural to give each its own note: something dry and woody for the cooking zone, something cooler for the cold wall, something "fresh" for laundry, something warmer for the lounge. Now watch a visitor. They cross from cooking to cooling in eight seconds. They stand at the boundary between the dishwasher run and the laundry corner while an advisor explains a drawer. They walk back to the reception past all of it. At no point are they in one zone's air; they are in the floor's air, which is one connected volume, and where two fragrances meet in one volume they do not take turns - they combine into a third that neither was designed to be. A dry cedar and a cool mineral note make something vaguely damp. A citrus and a soft amber make something that reads as a cheap candle. The visitor cannot name it, cannot locate the edge of it, and takes it home as the smell of your showroom. That is the whole argument. Everything else on the floor is allowed to vary between zones precisely because its edges are visible: the lighting changes at a bulkhead, the flooring changes at a threshold, the finishes change at a partition, and in the cooking zone the smell of what is on the hob changes the air entirely and on purpose. Fragrance is the one layer whose boundary a visitor cannot see, so it is the one layer that must stay constant. How to scent a showroom designed as multiple real kitchens makes the same case from the distribution side - one source, high, above the partitions - and whether fragrance can interfere with food aromas is the same physics applied to the one zone where a second smell is meant to exist. So: one register for the floor, chosen by the finish that dominates. Cedar, sage, dry pine and light woods - Mountain Breeze - when the floor is mostly wood, stone and dark glass; lemon and mint - Morning Freshness - when it is mostly white lacquer and glass; the minimal European-style showroom and the dark, ultra-modern display settle that choice by finish. Nothing edible anywhere, because the cooking zone will be lit and the coffee machine in the lounge will run. One level, set for the advisor who stands on the floor nine hours and judged at the specification table at five in the afternoon. And one source, mounted high on the reception wall on the AC supply path, from which the level falls gently with distance - so the reception is where it is noticed, the middle of the floor is where it is forgotten, and the far zones carry a trace. That gradient is the only legitimate difference between zones, and it happens on its own. The demo kitchen and the coffee counter are the exception in the other direction: they smell of nothing, because the demonstration owns their air. On the machine: from about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor, one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, waterless, timer, key-lock, wall or HVAC mount; past about 3,000, one Angaan at ₹25,999, never two Vaayus in the same air. A second scent belongs only to a second volume - a second floor with its own air handling - and even then I would argue for the same register at the same level, so the building has one identity; one signature scent vs multiple zones is the pillar on exactly that. And through all of it: fragrance is an interiors decision, like lighting or music. SOSA makes no claim that it changes footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish in any zone. It is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction, and the demo and tasting zones stay unscented. Ask for a showroom scenting plan and we will show one source reaching every zone.
No. Zones share one connected air and a visitor crosses them in seconds; two fragrances meeting make a third nobody chose. One register for the floor - Mountain Breeze for wood and stone, Morning Freshness for white - one source, one level; zones differ only by distance. Demo kitchen and coffee counter smell of nothing. Vaayu (Rs 11,999) from about 1,500 sq ft.
For a zoned floor of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft of connected air, one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, 1000m³, one register, timer and key-lock - at ₹11,999 reaches every zone at a level that falls gently with distance.

What a zoned floor runs on

Two honest answers by connected floor area - and in both, one register. The cards link to the product pages so every figure can be checked.

SOSA Vaayu
From about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor with several display zones
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - on one unit, Rs 11,999. One register to every zone from one high mount; 1h/4h/8h/24h timer so it is off while the cooking zone demonstrates; adjustable intensity; key-lock so no zone's advisor adjusts it for their corner; under 38dB; wall or HVAC mount; no water, so no added humidity and no residue.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
The one register for a floor of wood, stone and dark glass
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar - dry, resinous, and the same from the cooking zone to the laundry corner. Alcohol-free, six fibre reeds, flip weekly. 50ml Rs 849 lasts 6-8 weeks at a desk; 130ml Rs 1,349 lasts 14-18 weeks. For a studio under about 750 sq ft this reed at the desk is the whole answer; on a larger floor it is the register the Vaayu carries.
From ₹849
SOSA Vaayu
One machine, one register, every zone by distance
SOSA Vaayu Waterless Diffuser
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft) on a single unit, Rs 11,999, adjustable intensity, 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, key-lock. Wall or HVAC mount so one source sits high on the reception wall and reaches every zone. CE, RoHS, SGS certified. Made in India.

Five reasons one register beats a scent per zone

Five arguments, from the physical to the practical. The first two are about air; the third is about the visitor; the fourth is about your team; the fifth is the one exception and why it is not really one.

1
Mixing
Two fragrances in one air do not take turns - they make a third
Fragrance is not paint. Two colours on adjacent walls stay two colours; two fragrances in one connected room diffuse into each other and the result, in the band where they overlap, is a new accord that neither perfumer composed. Some pairings are merely muddy - a dry cedar and a cool mineral note tend to read as faintly damp. Some are actively unpleasant: a citrus against a soft amber reads as a cheap candle; a green note against a wood reads as something cut and left. The overlap band is not a thin line at the zone boundary; on a conditioned floor it is most of the room, because the AC is moving the air across the zones all day. So the "curated" floor with four fragrances in practice has one fragrance, the fourth one, and it is the only one the visitor smells. Can showroom fragrance interfere with food aromas describes the same mechanism where the second smell is the demonstration itself.
Test: stand at the boundary between two zones you have scented differently and try to name what you smell. If you cannot, that is the third smell.
2
The invisible edge
Every other layer has a boundary you can see - fragrance does not
Why is it fine for the lighting to change between zones and not the fragrance? Because a visitor can see where the lighting changes. The bulkhead ends, the temperature of the light shifts, the floor finish changes at a threshold - and the eye reads a new zone and adjusts without effort. A fragrance boundary is invisible and, because the air is moving, it is not even in a fixed place. A visitor walks through the mixing band without knowing they are in it and arrives in the next zone carrying the last one in their nose. Fragrance is the one layer whose edge cannot be perceived, so it is the one layer that must be constant. Let the merchandise, the finishes and the lighting carry the identity of each zone - they are much better at it - and let the air be the thing that ties the zones into one showroom. How to create even fragrance across multiple display zones is the method for making that constancy real.
Rule: if you want a zone to feel different, change something the visitor can see. Never change the air.
3
The visitor's route
Cooking to cooling to laundry in under a minute
Time a visitor. From the cooking zone to the cooling wall is a few seconds; from the dishwasher run to the laundry corner is a turn of the head. An architect walking a client through the floor covers every zone twice in the first ten minutes and then stands at the specification table, which is usually in the middle, for an hour. Nobody is ever in one zone's air long enough for that zone's fragrance to establish itself before the next one arrives. What they experience instead is constant transition, and transition is exactly where the third smell lives. One register removes the transitions: the visitor moves through the floor and the fragrance simply gets a little quieter as they move away from the source and a little more present as they return, which is how a well-kept home behaves. What customers should smell when they enter is about that first minute; this page is about every minute after it.
SOSA Vaayu
The Vaayu carries one register from one high mount, holds one level under a key-lock, and adds no water to the air.

Your team
Several scents means several dials, and every dial drifts upward
There is a practical argument too, and on a busy floor it is the decisive one. A fragrance per zone means a source per zone, and a source per zone means a dial per zone, each within reach of the advisor who works that corner. Levels on a retail floor only ever move in one direction, and with four dials they move independently: the cooling-wall advisor turns theirs up because the cold spill thins it, the laundry advisor turns theirs up because the citrus reads as detergent and they are trying to push through it, and within a month the floor is four different strengths of four different things. One source, one dial, one key-lock - which is what the Vaayu is - means one conversation with the team at the specification table at five in the afternoon, one setting, and nothing to drift. If the team says it is too much, it is too much everywhere, and it is turned down once. How strong fragrance should be inside a premium appliance experience centre is the level page for the vertical.
Rule: count the dials on your floor. The right number is one, and it is locked.
5
The exception
A second floor with its own air - and even then, the same register
There is one legitimate case for a second machine, and it is not a zone: it is a second volume of air. A second floor reached by a staircase, or a wing with its own air handling and a real door, is a room the first machine cannot reach, and it takes its own source - a second Vaayu for a second volume, or one Angaan at ₹25,999 on a shared plant past about 3,000 sq ft. Even then I would argue for the same register at the same level on both, so that the building has one identity and the staircase is not a fragrance boundary; how to fragrance a two-floor experience centre works that case through. The other exception runs the opposite way: the demo kitchen and the coffee-tasting counter smell of nothing, because the demonstration owns their air. That is not a different fragrance; it is the absence of one, and it is the only zoning a kitchen-appliance floor should ever do.
Refills: the four 100ml bottles in the Vaayu box are the supply; confirm refill availability with SOSA before you plan on it.
The SOSA principle
Every layer of a showroom may change from zone to zone except the one whose edge the visitor cannot see. Keep the air constant and let the merchandise do the zoning.
One register, one source, one dial, locked. Zones differ only by distance. The demo kitchen is the only exception, and it smells of nothing.
SOSA Vaayu
One register to every zone, the level falling with distance: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, timer and key-lock, up to 1000m³ of connected floor.

Zone by zone: the same scent, at different distances

Here is what one source high on the reception wall delivers to each zone of a typical floor. The scent never changes; only the distance does, and that is the only variation a visitor should ever meet.

The SOSA plan
A zoned floor, one register
The zone What it receives - the same scent, at this distance
SOSA VaayuReception and entrance approach
The source sits here, high. Noticed on arrival, forgotten within a minute - one Vaayu from about 1,500 sq ft. View →
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed DiffuserCooking zone - hobs and ovens on display, hob unlit
A trace of the same register carried by the AC. Nothing warm, nothing edible, because at some point the hob will be lit. View →
Cooling wall - integrated refrigeration, doors open
Less, because cold spill and compressor vents move the air, and that is correct. Not a cooler scent; the same scent, thinner.
Dishwasher run and laundry corner
The same register again - dry cedar, never citrus, because beside dishwashers and washing machines citrus reads as detergent.
The specification table in the middle
Un-nameable. Judged here at five in the afternoon by the advisor who has stood at it all day; this is the level for the whole floor.
Demo kitchen and coffee-tasting counter
Nothing. The demonstration owns the air; machine off on the timer; extraction during and after. The only zoning this floor should do.

The individual zones each have their own page in this family and the answer on every one of them is the same register: the oven and hob experience centre, the built-in refrigerator display, the dishwasher and kitchen studio and the chimney and hob showroom differ only in where the source goes and where the level is judged. One signature scent vs multiple zones is the pillar, and what a premium appliance showroom should smell like is the cluster's starting point. SOSA makes no claim that any of this changes footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales.

SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
The one register, if the floor is wood, stone and dark glass: Mountain Breeze - pine, sage and cedar, ₹849 for 50ml at a studio desk, or carried by the Vaayu across the floor.
One register for every zone - one source, one dial, locked

Fragrance here is an interiors decision like lighting or music, with no claim about footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish in any zone. A note from Sonal

I am asked for a scent per zone by the owners who care most, which is why I try to answer gently. They have thought about the cooking zone and the cooling wall as different experiences, and they are right that they are. Where the reasoning goes wrong is in thinking that fragrance is like lighting - that it stops at the edge of a zone. It does not. Two fragrances in one connected room diffuse into each other, and the band where they overlap is not a line at the boundary, it is most of the floor once the AC has been running for an hour. What the visitor smells is the third thing, and nobody composed the third thing.

So I ask them to let the merchandise do the zoning. The hobs, the stone, the brass, the lighting, the sound of a chimney on demo - all of those have edges the eye can see, and they carry a zone's identity far better than a fragrance can. The air stays constant. One register, chosen by the finish that dominates the floor; one Vaayu high on the reception wall; one level set at the specification table at five in the afternoon and locked, so that no advisor adjusts it for their corner. The only variation between zones is distance, and that happens on its own.

A second machine is for a second volume of air - a second floor, a wing with its own plant - and even then I ask for the same register, so the building has one identity; past about 3,000 sq ft of one floor it is one Angaan, not two Vaayus. The demo kitchen and the coffee counter smell of nothing, and that is the only zoning I will ever recommend. And always: no claim that fragrance moves footfall, dwell time or sales, and no claim about what it does to anything in any zone. It is an interiors decision, like lighting or music, never a substitute for ventilation or extraction. A Mountain Breeze reed at the desk is the whole answer for a studio. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when a cooking zone and a cooling zone on the same floor are scented differently?
The two fragrances diffuse into each other across the connected air, and in the band where they overlap - which on a conditioned floor is most of the room - they combine into a third accord that neither was designed to be. A dry wood against a cool mineral note tends to read as faintly damp; a citrus against a soft amber reads as a cheap candle. The visitor cannot name it or find its edge, and takes it home as the smell of the showroom.
Why is it acceptable to change the lighting between display zones but not the scent?
Because a visitor can see where the lighting changes - at a bulkhead, a threshold, a shift in the temperature of the light - and reads a new zone without effort. A fragrance boundary is invisible and, with the air moving, not even in a fixed place. Fragrance is the one layer whose edge cannot be perceived, so it is the one layer that must stay constant while the merchandise, finishes and lighting carry each zone's identity.
Is a second scent machine ever justified for a different zone of a kitchen-appliance floor?
Not for a zone; only for a second volume of air. A second floor reached by a staircase, or a wing with its own air handling and a real door, is a room the first machine cannot reach and takes its own source - a second SOSA Vaayu, or one SOSA Angaan at Rs 25,999 on a shared plant past about 3,000 sq ft. Even then the same register at the same level is the better choice, so the building has one identity.
How does the fragrance level differ between zones when there is only one source?
By distance, and only by distance. From one SOSA Vaayu mounted high on the reception wall, the level is noticed at the reception, forgotten by the middle of the floor and present as a trace at the far zones, falling gently as the visitor moves away and returning as they come back. That gradient is the only legitimate variation between zones and it happens on its own. The cooling wall will carry less because cold spill moves the air; that is correct.
Which zones of a kitchen-appliance floor should carry no fragrance at all?
The demo kitchen while the hob is lit and the coffee-tasting counter, always. The smell of what is cooking or brewing is the product demonstration, and ambient fragrance must never compete with it - the machine is off on the timer during a demo and extraction clears the room afterwards. That is not a different fragrance for a zone; it is the absence of one, and it is the only zoning a kitchen-appliance floor should ever do.

Facts verified 7 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W (roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule), freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification - electrical and compliance marks. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or displays; the four 100ml bottles in the box are the supply, and refill availability should be confirmed with SOSA. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB; the SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) is the HVAC machine for 12,000-18,000 sq ft.
