This page will not sell you a fragrance for a solvent problem, and it is worth saying that in the first paragraph rather than the last. If there is an open model-making bench in your studio and people can smell the cement, the spray mount and the cyanoacrylate from the drawing desks, the correct response is local extraction at the bench, a door if the plan allows one, and the handling guidance on the manufacturer's own label. Fragrance is not an alternative to any of that, does nothing to it, and should not be bought as though it might.
Quick answers — read this first
Can a diffuser help with solvent smells from a model-making bench? No. We make no claim that any SOSA product neutralises, removes, filters or purifies solvent vapour, because it does none of those things, and we will not offer fragrance as an answer to a ventilation and safety question. Solvent smells at a model bench are handled by capturing the vapour where it is produced: local exhaust ventilation directly over or beside the bench, ducted to outside, a door or partition if the plan allows one, and the storage and handling instructions on the manufacturer's own label and safety data sheet. Once that work is done and the studio air is ordinary again, the studio is an ordinary room and can be scented like any other office.
What is the right order of operations here? Extraction first, enclosure second, fragrance a distant third and only if you still want it. Start by capturing at source, which means an extraction hood or arm at the bench itself rather than a general fan on a far wall, ducted out of the building rather than through a filter that sits in the same room. Give the space a make-up air path so the extractor is not starving. Get the laser cutter and any resin printer onto their own ducted exhaust and their own enclosure. Read the labels for the products actually in use and follow them, including how the containers are stored and how rags and offcuts are disposed of. Then step back and see whether the studio still smells of the bench. Usually it does not, and at that point you are scenting a normal room.
What should the studio around the bench smell of once the extraction works? Whatever the practice would have chosen anyway. A dry, green, woody register sits well in a studio of concrete, timber and steel: the 1 Hotels-inspired blend of cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves is the driest of the seven. A lighter, whiter studio takes the Ritz-Carlton-inspired blend of white tea, bergamot and cedar. Both are from the SOSA Hotel Collection from Rs 299, held at a low locked level by a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 across a connected floor or a Sukoon at Rs 1,899 in a single room. Place the machine away from the bench and away from an air-conditioning supply, and keep the level low, because the team breathe it for ten hours a day.
The short answer
Short answer: Solvent smells at a model-making bench are a ventilation and health-and-safety matter, not a fragrance matter. No SOSA product neutralises, removes, filters or purifies solvent vapour, and we make no claim either way about fragrance around it. The fix is local exhaust ventilation at the bench ducted to outside, a make-up air path, a door or partition if the plan allows, a separately ducted laser cutter and resin printer, and the manufacturer's own handling and storage guidance. Once the bench is properly extracted, the studio around it is an ordinary room to scent: Vaayu Rs 11,999, Megh Rs 3,499, Sukoon Rs 1,899, Hotel Collection registers from Rs 299. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for premises to ~1000m³; reeds from ₹749 for a single room; cabin systems from ₹1,899; HVAC from ₹25,999.

Every customer-facing space hosts two audiences at once: the customer who forms an opinion in a single visit, and the staff who breathe that air for eight hours. Commercial scenting serves both with one move - a single refined fragrance, held evenly from the entrance to the far end of the floor, running on a schedule nobody has to remember. Customers experience it as "this brand has itself together"; the team gets premises that smell composed from opening to close.
There is a model-making bench in my studio and the whole floor smells of solvent. What do I do?
Four steps, and the first three are the entire answer. 1. Understand what kind of problem this is. It is a ventilation and health-and-safety problem, and it belongs with your services consultant and the product labels rather than with a fragrance supplier. We do not claim that any SOSA product neutralises, removes, filters or purifies solvent vapour, and we make no claim that fragrance is either safe or unsafe around it. That is not modesty, it is the point of this page. 2. Capture at source. Local exhaust at the bench itself, an extraction arm or hood positioned where the work happens, ducted to outside rather than through a cartridge filter sitting in the same room. General ventilation dilutes; local extraction removes, and the difference in a studio corner is enormous. Give the room a make-up air path so the extractor is not fighting a sealed box. Put the laser cutter on its own ducted exhaust and any resin printer in its own enclosure. 3. Follow the labels, and put a door on it if you can. The manufacturers of your cement, your spray adhesive and your primer publish handling, storage and disposal guidance, and it is the authority here, not us. Storage of open containers, disposal of soaked rags, and how long a piece is left to flash off before it comes back to the desk are all covered there. If the plan allows a partition with a door and its own air-conditioning return, build it, and read the companion page on scenting a studio with a separate workshop. 4. Only then, if you still want to, scent the studio. With the bench extracted, the studio is an office like any other and takes one register held low: the 1 Hotels-inspired blend (cedarwood, vetiver, green leaves) or the Ritz-Carlton-inspired blend (white tea, bergamot, cedar) from the Hotel Collection (from ₹299), on a SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, app and timer) or a Sukoon (₹1,899). Place it away from the bench and away from a supply grille. Your team breathe that air ten hours a day; a sensitivity report is a recalibration signal. SOSA's blends are its own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is not affiliated with any hotel brand. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Why this is a ventilation drawing and not a fragrance brief
Three things worth separating: what fragrance categorically is not for, what actually removes the problem, and what the studio becomes once it is gone.
Why this works
The order of operations, and where fragrance sits in it
The commercial standard: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³ coverage. Single rooms start on reeds from ₹749.
What we will not sell you, and why it matters that we say so
There is a version of this page that would have been easy to write and would have converted better. It would have talked about a fresh green register cutting through the sharpness of solvent, or about keeping the studio smelling clean while the bench is in use, and it would have left a reader with the impression that buying a machine was a reasonable response to an air quality question. We are not writing that page. No SOSA product neutralises, removes, filters or purifies solvent vapour. Fragrance is an addition to air, not a subtraction from it, and adding a register to a studio where people can smell the bench changes what the room smells of without changing anything that matters. We also make no claim that fragrance is safe or unsafe in the presence of solvent vapour, because that is not a question we are qualified to answer for your specific products, your specific quantities and your specific room. What we will say plainly is where the authority actually sits: with the ventilation design for the space and with the handling guidance published by the manufacturers of the materials on your bench. If a fragrance supplier ever offers you a product as an answer to a solvent question, that is the moment to stop listening to them.
Tip: fragrance is an addition to air, never a subtraction from it - which is the whole reason it is the wrong tool here.
2
The actual fix
Capture at source, then dilute - in that order, not the reverse
The distinction that does most of the work is between general ventilation and local exhaust. General ventilation dilutes what is already in the room; local exhaust captures it before it becomes room air. A wall fan at the far end of an open studio is general ventilation and it is why so many practices conclude the problem is unsolvable: by the time the air reaches the fan it has already crossed the drawing desks. An extraction arm or hood positioned at the bench, close to where the work is done and ducted to outside, is local exhaust, and it is a different order of effectiveness. Three details decide whether it performs. The duct has to go outside, not into a filter cartridge standing in the corner of the same room, because a filter in the room is still in the room. The space needs a make-up air path, because an extractor pulling from a sealed box starves and its actual flow collapses to a fraction of the number on the box. And the capture point has to be where the work is, not a metre away, because capture velocity falls off very fast with distance. Add to that the two machines that need their own dedicated arrangements: the laser cutter, ducted to outside rather than recirculated, and a resin printer if the studio has one, in its own enclosure. This is ordinary services work and any competent consultant will draw it in an afternoon.
3
After
What the studio becomes once the bench is no longer arriving at the desks
Here is the good news at the end of a page that has mostly said no. A studio with a properly extracted bench is not a compromised space that has to be managed. It is an ordinary working office, and it smells like one: paper, tracing, board offcuts, a warm plotter, coffee, and twelve people who have been there since nine. That is an entirely normal brief, and one register held low finishes it. Choose to agree with the interior rather than to decorate it. The 1 Hotels-inspired blend, cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves, is the driest and greenest of the seven and sits naturally with concrete, oiled timber, black steel and planting. The Ritz-Carlton-inspired blend, white tea, bergamot and cedar, carries more lift and suits a whiter studio with a lot of glass and daylight. The Westin-inspired blend, white tea, aloe and cedar, is the quietest of the three. All from the Hotel Collection (from ₹299). Two placement notes that matter more here than in a normal office: keep the machine well away from the bench, so that nobody ever has to think about the two together, and keep it away from an air-conditioning supply grille, which will otherwise fire the output across the room in a stream rather than letting it settle evenly. Hold it with a Vaayu (₹11,999) on a timer across a connected floor, or a Sukoon (₹1,899) in a single room, at the lowest setting that still registers.
Tip: place the machine away from the bench and away from a supply grille, and hold it at the lowest setting that still registers.
The SOSA principle
We will not offer a fragrance as an answer to a solvent question. No SOSA product neutralises, removes, filters or purifies solvent vapour - extraction, a door and the manufacturer's own guidance do that work.
Capture at the bench, duct it outside, give the room make-up air, follow the labels. Then, and only then, the studio around it is a normal room and takes a normal register.

The SOSA commercial edit
Whatever your business sells, the system logic is the same: one signature, sized to the space, scheduled so it never depends on anyone's memory. A single small room or a consultation corner can sit happily on reeds with no power at all; a customer-facing floor wants the Vaayu; a venue or a flagship wants HVAC. Every SOSA system is supported from India, and the Hotel Collection blends - SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations - run across the powered ones. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the full commercial range.

Honest notes for business owners: scenting compounds a well-run premises and rescues nothing. Ventilation, air-conditioning and cleaning come first, and fragrance never substitutes for hygiene or air quality - if the air is stale, damp or smoky, fix that at the source before any scent goes in. The people most exposed to the fragrance are not your customers but your STAFF, who work eight-hour shifts in it, which is why whisper calibration and locked settings are standard on every SOSA commercial install, and any staff sensitivity report should be treated as a recalibration signal rather than a complaint. Healthcare and wellness spaces need extra restraint: keep scenting to reception and circulation areas, never treatment rooms, and the practitioner's judgement overrides anything in this guide. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ultrasonic systems use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Vaayu and HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - the formats are not interchangeable. WhatsApp consult: +91 96192 18531. ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
I have walked into jewellery showrooms lit like museums, bridal boutiques with hand-embroidered walls, furniture floors styled down to the last cushion, clinics with better art than most galleries - and in almost every one of them, the air was an afterthought. Floor polish, packaging cartons, the phenyl from the morning mopping, the workshop or the loading bay drifting forward. The one thing every customer takes in before they see anything is the thing most businesses leave to chance.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, where the world's scent-marketing perfumers learn the craft, and what I build for Indian businesses is the same architecture the global hospitality brands use, whatever you sell: one signature, sized to the space, run on a schedule - so the scent is as reliable as your lighting. A consultation corner may only need reeds; a full floor needs the Vaayu; a venue needs the HVAC systems. If you want it applied to your specific premises, message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the type of space and its approximate size - I read those descriptions myself.
Everything is made or assembled for Indian conditions, supported from Pune - and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your brand gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to run a scent machine in a room where solvents are used?
That is not a question we will answer, and you should be careful with anyone who answers it quickly. We are a fragrance house, not your ventilation engineer, and we do not know which products are on your bench, in what quantities, in what volume of room, with what air changes. What we can tell you is where the authority sits. The manufacturers of your adhesives, cements and primers publish handling, storage, ventilation and disposal guidance for their own products, and that guidance governs. A services consultant or a qualified safety adviser can look at your actual room and your actual materials and give you a proper answer. Our position throughout is simpler: extract at source and get the vapour out of the room, and the question stops being live, because the room is then an ordinary room.
The smell only appears on deadline weeks. Is a machine worth it for the rest of the time?
Judge the fragrance decision on the ordinary weeks and judge the ventilation decision on the deadline weeks, because they are two different questions and mixing them produces the wrong answer to both. The extraction has to be sized for the worst night of the year, when three people are working the bench until two in the morning and the door is shut because it is cold. The fragrance decision is about the other forty-six weeks, when the studio is simply a studio and the question is whether the practice wants its air to be designed or accidental. If you resolve the extraction properly, the deadline weeks stop being a fragrance question at all, and you are left with a straightforward one about the ordinary ones.
Would a stronger fragrance at least make the studio more pleasant while the bench is running?
It would make it more strongly fragranced, which is not the same thing, and in our experience it makes the room worse rather than better. Two distinct smells at high intensity do not average out; people perceive both and are more bothered by the combination than by either alone, and the sequence is legible to everyone who walks in. There is also the team to consider. Your people are already breathing bench air on those days, and adding a raised fragrance level on top of it is exactly the wrong direction. If the studio is unpleasant while the bench runs, that is your instrument telling you the extraction is not doing its job. Turn the fragrance down or off on those days, and put the money into the duct.
How do I place the machine so it is nowhere near the bench?
Think about it as air movement rather than as distance on the plan. Put the machine at the opposite end of the connected volume from the bench, ideally near where people arrive rather than where they fabricate, and set it back from any air-conditioning supply grille so that the output is not immediately fired across the room in a jet. Somewhere with gentle circulation and nothing directly in front of it is better than somewhere high and dramatic. If the studio has a natural direction of airflow, from an entrance towards an extract or an open side, work with it rather than against it. In a long studio with the bench at the back, near the front is usually correct, and the far corner behind the bench is always wrong. WhatsApp your plan to +91 96192 18531 and we will mark a position on it.
Should the whole studio go unscented if the bench cannot be extracted properly?
Yes, for now, and we would rather say that than take an order. If the bench genuinely cannot be extracted, because of a rented shell that does not allow a duct through the facade or a landlord who will not permit a penetration, then the honest sequence is to reduce what is used at the bench, move the loudest operations elsewhere or outdoors, and treat the fragrance question as postponed rather than solved. Adding a register to a studio that already smells of solvent is spending money to make the room more complicated. Come back to the fragrance decision once the air is ordinary, and in the meantime a reed diffuser in a director's cabin or a meeting room at the far end of the floor, from Rs 749, is a proportionate thing to do without pretending it addresses the bench.

Facts verified August 2026: Ambient scent research consistently associates pleasant, congruent scenting with improved evaluations of a space and its service, longer dwell time and stronger brand recall at moderate effect sizes; congruence (scent matching the setting) and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting in replicated studies, and no scent effect survives poor ventilation, poor cleaning or poor indoor air quality. Olfactory memory is unusually durable: scent-linked brand memories persist and retrieve for years, which is the mechanism behind signature scents. Staff exposure is the design constraint, since employees breathe the fragrance for full shifts: whisper calibration, locked settings and sensitivity accommodations are standard practice, and healthcare and wellness settings call for extra restraint. SOSA systems: alcohol-free reed diffusers from ₹749 for single rooms with no power needed; Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic (₹1,899) and Megh 6L ultrasonic (₹3,499) run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from ₹299; refills from ₹999, 100ml ₹999); SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine, ~1000m³ coverage, Bluetooth app and timer; SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively.
