Everywhere else this comparison turns on two questions - how large the home is and whether it is open plan. Bengaluru adds a third, and in this city it is often the one that decides. A machine's whole advantage is holding one even strength across a volume, and a volume with its doors open for ten hours a day is not being held at anything. So count the closed hours before spending eleven thousand rupees.
Quick answers — read this first
Reed diffuser or scent machine for a large Bengaluru home? Count the closed hours as well as the area. Under about six closed hours a day, reed diffusers from Rs 749 win even in a large home.

Why do closed hours matter here? Because a machine's advantage is one even strength across a volume, and an open house is not a bounded volume at all.

When does the machine clearly win in Bengaluru? An air-conditioned open-plan home over about 2,000 sq ft that is closed most of the day, or a house with a stairwell and corridors bottles cannot reach.
The short answer
Short answer: For a large Bengaluru home the comparison needs a third variable beyond area and layout: how many hours a day the house is closed. A nebuliser's advantage is maintaining one even strength across a bounded volume, which does not apply while doors stand open, so in a home open ten hours a day much of that advantage is unavailable. Under roughly six closed hours a day, reed diffusers at Rs 749 to Rs 1,349 and duo sets at Rs 1,498 to Rs 2,598 are the better choice even at 2,400 sq ft. The SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999, covering up to 1,000 cubic metres, wins clearly in air-conditioned open-plan homes that stay closed, and in houses with stairwells, landings and corridors where no bottle can stand.
The pick: a SOSA return gift - consumable, no shelf space, from ₹299 a head.
Bulk: 10 to 200+ pieces quoted on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Rates are not published here.
Large-home scenting gifts - at a glanceUp to 1,000 m³ - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. Volume decides, not budgetA 2BHK does not need it. A villa or a penthouse genuinely mightA new house smells of paint for weeks. Air it first, then scent it₹11,999 · four oils included · runs itself
A scenting machine is the one premium home gift that is decided by arithmetic rather than by taste. The SOSA Vaayu covers up to 1,000 cubic metres, roughly 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, which a villa, a penthouse, a large open-plan 4 or 5BHK or a double-height living room genuinely reaches - and which an ordinary flat does not. So the question is never how much somebody has spent on their house; it is how many cubic metres of air are in it. Where the answer is a normal-sized home we will say a reed diffuser from Rs 749 is the better gift. One more thing nobody mentions: a brand-new house smells of paint, varnish and polish for several weeks, and that needs open windows rather than fragrance. Give the machine at the housewarming; it comes into its own a month later. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the square footage before you spend Rs 11,999.
Straight answer
Reed diffuser or scent machine for a large Bengaluru home?
Add a third question to the usual two. 1. Area: over ~2,000 sq ft? 2. Layout: open plan or separate rooms? 3. And here: how many hours a day are the doors shut? A machine's advantage is holding one even strength across a bounded volume - and an open house is not bounded. Under ~6 closed hours: reed diffusers ₹749 to ₹1,349 win even at 2,400 sq ft. Closed, air conditioned, open plan, with a stairwell: the SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Count the closed hours, not just the square feet. From Rs 749.
One sentence if you want to skip the reading: over roughly 2,000 sq ft, the Vaayu at ₹11,999; under it, reed diffusers from ₹749. Bulk and corporate quantities are quoted on WhatsApp rather than published.

In this city there is a third question after area and layout

The standard version of this comparison has two variables and they are both about the building. How large is it, because a machine rated for a thousand cubic metres is wasted on a small flat and bottles cannot cover a big house. And how is it laid out, because an open-plan volume has no rooms for bottles to sit in while a house of separate rooms gives each bottle a correctly sized job. Both of those hold in Bengaluru exactly as they do anywhere. What this city adds is a third variable that is about behaviour rather than architecture, and it is often decisive: how many hours a day is the house actually shut. The reason it matters is worth being precise about. A waterless nebuliser does not produce a stronger smell than a bottle at the source; what it does is distribute a dry mist through the air a building is circulating so that a whole volume sits at one even strength, including the corridors, stairwells and entrances that no bottle can occupy. That achievement depends on the volume being bounded. Open a garden door or a pair of balcony doors and the volume stops being bounded: air passes through, fragrance goes out with it, and the machine is maintaining an even strength in a space that keeps being replaced. It is not wasted exactly - it works on whatever is still inside - but the specific thing you paid for is unavailable for those hours. In a city where a large house may genuinely stand open from eight in the morning until seven in the evening, that can be most of the waking day. So the practical rule is to count. If the household closes up and runs air conditioning for most of the day - which plenty of large Bengaluru homes do, particularly households with somebody working from home in a closed room, or flats on high floors where dust and noise argue for shut windows - the machine is doing its full job and the usual reasoning applies. If the household lives with everything open until dusk, then the machine is effectively an evening product, and the honest question becomes whether an evening product is worth eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees compared with four or five bottles that work continuously wherever the air is calm. Often it still is, for one specific reason: the evening is when it matters. That is when the family is together indoors, when guests arrive, when the house is experienced as a whole rather than as a route to the garden. A four-hour evening window at moderate intensity, set from the app or the onboard buttons, is a perfectly good use of the product and it is what many owners settle into. But if the closed period is genuinely short - a household that shuts up only to sleep, in a home that is more veranda than interior - bottles are the better buy at any square footage, and that is a real conclusion rather than a hedge. Under roughly six closed hours a day, in a home of separate rooms, four or five reed diffusers placed in the calm parts of the rooms people use will give a better result than one machine. Here is what each side does well, with the local factors folded in. Bottles win on continuity, because they work whenever and wherever the air near them is calm, with no schedule and no electricity - which suits an open house. They win on per-room choice, so lavender and chamomile can be in the bedroom and Malabar lemon with peppermint near the kitchen. They win on cost: Morning Freshness at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees for fifty millilitres and one thousand two hundred and forty-nine for one hundred and thirty; Garden Bloom and Evening Calm at seven hundred and ninety-nine and one thousand two hundred and ninety-nine; Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew at eight hundred and forty-nine and one thousand three hundred and forty-nine; duo sets at one thousand four hundred and ninety-eight to two thousand five hundred and ninety-eight; three hundred millilitre refills at two thousand three hundred and ninety-nine. And they have one local weakness worth stating: in moving air they evaporate faster, so they empty sooner here than the label suggests and want placing away from windows, balcony doors and air conditioner airflow. The machine wins on evenness during closed hours, and on reach - the stairwell, the landing, the internal corridor, the entrance, the volume above a double-height room, which are the spaces that make a large home feel finished and where there is no surface to stand a bottle on. It wins on scheduling, which in this city is not a luxury but the mechanism that makes it work at all. And it wins on humidity, because being waterless it adds nothing to the air but fragrance, where an ultrasonic diffuser would add moisture to a room in a damp month. Its facts: up to a thousand cubic metres or about two thousand to three thousand square feet, four hundred millilitre tank lasting up to around seventy-five days a fill, one, four, eight and twenty-four hour windows with day selection and adjustable intensity, under thirty-eight decibels, five watts, nine hundred grams, freestanding or wall and HVAC mountable, auto-stop and key lock, four one hundred millilitre hotel-inspired oils included, refills from one thousand and forty-nine rupees, and never the water-based Hotel Collection, which is a separate system. Two things this page will not do. It will not print a three-year running cost, because machine consumption depends entirely on run hours and intensity, and in this city that variable is larger than anywhere - somebody running four hours a day and somebody running twenty-four are not on the same curve, and an invented figure would be dishonest. And it will not recommend a machine to a household that would rather not have a device, whatever the area and the closed hours say, because the best product is the one that gets used.

1
The usual two questions still apply
Area and layout
Over ~2,000 sq ft a machine has a job; under it, it over-scents. Open plan has no rooms for bottles; separate rooms give every bottle a correctly sized job.
Tip: Both hold here exactly as anywhere else.
2
The third is about behaviour
How long is the house shut?
A nebuliser holds one even strength across a bounded volume. With the doors open, air passes through and the specific thing you paid for is unavailable.
3
So the machine becomes an evening product
Which is often still worth it
The evening is when the family is together indoors, when guests arrive, when the house is experienced as a whole. A four hour window is a fair use of it.
Tip: But under ~6 closed hours in a house of separate rooms, four or five bottles beat one machine.
The SOSA principle
Bottles empty faster here than the label suggests.
Moving air carries evaporated fragrance away as fast as it leaves the sticks, which is also why they want placing away from windows, balcony doors and air conditioner airflow.

How many hours a day is the house actually closed?

Two questions about the building, one about the household.

The SOSA scent edit
The Bengaluru tie-breaker
Scent Why it suits the mood
Closed most of the day, air conditioned · machine Full even coverage, plus stairwell, landing, corridor and entrance.
Open until dusk · machine as an evening product A four hour window at moderate intensity. Often still worth it, because evening is when it matters.
Under ~6 closed hours, separate rooms · bottles Four or five diffusers in the calm parts of used rooms beat one machine.
Either way · refills ₹2,399 Because bottles here empty sooner than the label suggests.

A note from Sonal

The Vaayu is the most expensive thing we make and we turn down more orders for it than for anything else in the range. Not because we do not want to sell it - because most homes do not need it. It covers up to a thousand cubic metres, roughly two to three thousand square feet, and that is a villa, a penthouse, a large open-plan flat or a house with a double-height room. An ordinary 2BHK is not that, and in an ordinary 2BHK a reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees does the job better than eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees of machine would. So the question we ask is never what somebody spent on their house. It is how many cubic metres of air are in it.

The second thing we say, and almost nobody expects it, is wait a few weeks. A brand-new home smells of paint, varnish, polish, cement and new wood, and those are not smells to cover - they need open windows and time, and they go on their own. Give the machine at the housewarming by all means, but tell them the scenting starts once the building has finished smelling of being built. It is the same rule we apply to a new car, for the same reason: adding fragrance to a smell that is fading anyway is how a good product gets blamed for a bad result.

Two honest limits. Reed diffusers do not fail in large homes, they simply do not reach - a diffuser on a console table scents the area around that console table, which is not a fault, it is physics, and several of them is a real alternative to one machine. And there are two machines above the Vaayu, the Angaan and the Meenar, which are HVAC units for showrooms and hotel floors rather than houses - so if a home is genuinely far beyond three thousand square feet, message us rather than assuming more money solves it. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with the square footage and the layout. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Reed diffuser or scent machine for a large Bengaluru home?
Count the closed hours as well as the area. Under about six closed hours a day, reed diffusers from Rs 749 win even in a large home.
Why do closed hours matter so much here?
Because a machine maintains one even strength across a bounded volume, and an open house is not bounded - air passes through and takes fragrance with it.

Often yes, because the evening is when the family is indoors together and guests arrive. A four hour window at moderate intensity is a fair use.
What do bottles do better in this city?
They work continuously wherever the air near them is calm, with no schedule and no electricity - which suits a house lived in open.
Why no three-year cost comparison?
Because machine consumption depends on run hours and intensity, and in this city that variable is larger than anywhere. Any figure would be invented.
