Do the arithmetic before you look at any product, because it decides the whole answer. Six thousand square feet under a twenty-foot double-height volume is 120,000 cubic feet, and 120,000 divided by 35.3 is about 3,400 cubic metres - roughly three and a half times one Vaayu's approximately 1000 cubic metre rating, and comfortably past SOSA's published figure of 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft per unit. So this is not a one-machine property. It is either a zoned multi-unit arrangement, or a SOSA Aangan at Rs 25,999 ducted into genuine HVAC if the villa has it and the owner wants permanent scenting - and for a viewing specifically, there is a third answer that is usually the right one, which is to stop scenting the envelope and scent the route the buyer walks.
Quick answers — read this first
How do I scent a 6,000 sq ft double-height villa for a viewing? Start with the volume, not the floor area. 6,000 sq ft at a 20 ft double-height ceiling is 6,000 multiplied by 20, which is 120,000 cubic feet; divide by 35.3 and you get about 3,400 cubic metres. One SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated at roughly 1000 cubic metres and to 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft on SOSA's own figure, so 3,400 cubic metres is about three and a half units - this is a multi-machine property, not a one-machine one. There are three honest answers. Zone it: two or three Vaayus placed at the entrance, in the double-height living volume and on the upper landing, each covering its own connected pocket of air. Duct it: a SOSA Aangan at Rs 25,999 covers approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft through the building's HVAC, but only if the villa has genuine ducted air conditioning and only if the owner wants permanent scenting rather than a one-afternoon result. Or, for a viewing specifically, scent only the route the buyer actually walks, which is usually the entrance, the double-height living and dining space and the upper landing, and leave the rest alone.
How much difference does the double height actually make? It doubles the problem, and it is the variable people forget. The same 6,000 sq ft under a normal 10 ft ceiling is 60,000 cubic feet, which divided by 35.3 is about 1,700 cubic metres. At 20 ft it is 120,000 cubic feet, about 3,400 cubic metres. Same floor plan, same furniture, same doors - twice the air, purely from the height. Worse, the extra volume is the part nobody occupies: warm scented air rises, so a significant share of what you release ends up circulating in the top ten feet of a double-height hall while the buyer is standing at head height five feet off the floor. That is why a machine sized on floor area alone reads as absent in a double-height room, and why placement low and in the path of moving air matters more here than anywhere else in a house.
Is one Vaayu really not enough for a villa this size? Not for the whole envelope, no, and we would rather say so than sell you a unit that disappoints. One Vaayu covers about 1000 cubic metres of connected air and SOSA's published figure is 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft per unit; 6,000 sq ft with a double-height volume is roughly 3,400 cubic metres and double the upper floor-area figure, so a single machine is being asked to do about three and a half times its work. What one Vaayu can genuinely do in that villa is hold one zone well - the entrance hall, or the double-height living and dining volume, or the upper landing. For a viewing that may be entirely sufficient, because you are preparing a route rather than a building. If the owner wants the whole villa scented permanently and it has real ducted HVAC, the honest product is the Aangan at Rs 25,999. The short answer
Short answer: 6,000 sq ft at a 20 ft double-height ceiling is 120,000 cubic feet; 120,000 divided by 35.3 is about 3,400 cubic metres. One SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated at about 1000 cubic metres and 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, so this is roughly three and a half units - a zoned multi-machine property, not a one-machine one. The same 6,000 sq ft at a normal 10 ft ceiling would be 60,000 cubic feet, about 1,700 cubic metres, so the height alone doubles the volume, and the extra air sits above head height where warm scented air rises and nobody stands. Three honest answers: zone it with two or three Vaayus at the entrance, the double-height living volume and the upper landing; duct it with a SOSA Aangan at Rs 25,999 (approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft) if the villa has genuine ducted HVAC and the owner wants permanent scenting; or, for a viewing, scent only the route the buyer walks. Each unit needs a live socket. Registers from Rs 299, reeds from Rs 749. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for premises to ~1000m³; reeds from ₹749 for a single room; cabin systems from ₹1,899; HVAC from ₹25,999.

Every customer-facing space hosts two audiences at once: the customer who forms an opinion in a single visit, and the staff who breathe that air for eight hours. Commercial scenting serves both with one move - a single refined fragrance, held evenly from the entrance to the far end of the floor, running on a schedule nobody has to remember. Customers experience it as "this brand has itself together"; the team gets premises that smell composed from opening to close.
What does a 6,000 sq ft double-height villa actually need, and how many machines is that?
Arithmetic first, product second. 1. The whole-envelope number. 6,000 sq ft at a 20 ft double-height ceiling is 6,000 x 20 = 120,000 cubic feet. 120,000 / 35.3 = about 3,400 cubic metres. A SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is rated at roughly 1000m³ and SOSA's published coverage is 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft per unit. 3,400 / 1000 is about three and a half. That is the honest headline: one unit does not cover this villa. 2. What the height alone costs you. The same 6,000 sq ft at a 10 ft ceiling is 60,000 cubic feet, which is 60,000 / 35.3 = about 1,700m³. The double height doubles the air for the same floor plan. And the extra volume is dead space for your purposes: warm scented air rises into the top of the hall while the buyer stands at five or six feet. 3. The realistic zoned number. Very few villas are 20 ft throughout. A typical arrangement is a double-height living and dining volume of about 1,200 sq ft at 20 ft (24,000 cu ft), the rest of the ground floor about 1,800 sq ft at 10 ft (18,000 cu ft), and an upper floor of about 3,000 sq ft at 10 ft (30,000 cu ft). That totals 72,000 cubic feet, which is 72,000 / 35.3 = about 2,040m³ - materially less than the 3,400 worst case, and still about two units. Measure your actual heights before you buy anything. 4. Answer A: zone it. Two or three Vaayus, placed one per connected pocket of air - the entrance hall, the double-height living volume, the upper landing - each running low. Each needs its own live socket, which is a real constraint in a vacant villa. See the multi-zone page and the honest upgrade point. 5. Answer B: duct it. A SOSA Aangan (₹25,999, HVAC nebulising, approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft) puts one register through the whole villa evenly - but only if the villa has genuine ducted air conditioning rather than split units, and only if the owner wants permanent scenting. It is an installation in a building, which means the owner's permission and the owner's decision, not a broker's - see the page on mounting anything in a property you do not own. 6. Answer C, and usually the right one for a viewing. You are not scenting a residence, you are preparing a route. Scent the entrance, the double-height living and dining volume and the upper landing, and leave the bedrooms, the utility wing and the staff areas alone. That is one or two machines, not three and a half - see the route page. Registers from ₹299, reeds from ₹749 for the pockets that do not justify a machine. One line: 6,000 sq ft at 20 ft = 120,000 cu ft = about 3,400m³ = roughly three and a half Vaayus, so zone it (2-3 units at ₹11,999) or duct it (Aangan ₹25,999) - or, for a viewing, scent only the route. Registers from ₹299. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

The arithmetic, done by hand and twice
Three parts: the arithmetic done by hand and then done again realistically, what a double-height volume does to scented air, and why a viewing changes the answer from the one a resident would get.
Why this works
The numbers that decide this, worked by hand
The commercial standard: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³ coverage. Single rooms start on reeds from ₹749.
Do it twice: the worst case, then the real building
Every sizing mistake in a large villa comes from using floor area as though it were volume. Start with the worst case and work down. Six thousand square feet under a twenty-foot ceiling throughout is 6,000 multiplied by 20, which is 120,000 cubic feet. Convert: 120,000 divided by 35.3 gives about 3,400 cubic metres. A Vaayu is rated at roughly 1000 cubic metres of connected air, so that is about three and a half units, and SOSA's published coverage figure of 2,000 to 3,000 square feet per unit puts 6,000 square feet at roughly double the upper end of one machine even before the height is considered. Two independent measures, the same conclusion: this is not a one-machine property. Now do it again for the actual building, because almost no villa is double-height throughout. A representative layout might be a double-height living and dining volume of 1,200 square feet at twenty feet, which is 24,000 cubic feet; the rest of the ground floor, say 1,800 square feet at ten feet, which is 18,000 cubic feet; and an upper floor of 3,000 square feet at ten feet, which is 30,000 cubic feet. Add them: 24,000 plus 18,000 plus 30,000 is 72,000 cubic feet. Divide by 35.3 and you get about 2,040 cubic metres. That is a materially different building from the 3,400 worst case, and it is about two units rather than three and a half. The lesson is not that the arithmetic is optional; it is that the arithmetic has to be done on the real heights, room by room, rather than on a single assumption applied to the whole plan. Measure the finished ceiling in each part of the villa, not the slab, and write the numbers down before anybody quotes you a machine. The general method is on the sizing page.
Tip: 6,000 sq ft at 20 ft is 120,000 cu ft, about 3,400 cubic metres - roughly three and a half Vaayus, before anyone opens a catalogue.
2
The height
Warm scented air rises into a volume nobody stands in
The double height does two separate things to you and only one of them is arithmetic. The first is the volume itself: the same 6,000 square feet at a normal ten-foot ceiling is 60,000 cubic feet, which divided by 35.3 is about 1,700 cubic metres, so raising the living volume to twenty feet doubles the air for an identical floor plan. That alone would be enough to change the machine count. The second is where that air goes. Warm air rises, and a double-height hall in an Indian villa is generally warmer at the top than at the bottom, often significantly so if there is west glazing, a skylight or a stone floor that stays cool. Nebulised fragrance released at floor level is carried upward by that convection and accumulates in the upper third of the volume, which is precisely the part of the room no human being ever occupies. The buyer is standing at five or six feet. So a machine sized for 3,400 cubic metres is, in practice, spending a substantial share of its work scenting the ceiling void of a room. There are three practical responses and all of them are worth doing. Place low and in the occupied band rather than high on a ledge or a mezzanine rail, which is exactly the opposite of what people instinctively do in a tall room. Put the source in the path of moving air - near the return of an air conditioner, in a doorway between two spaces, or where a ceiling fan will carry it - so the room distributes rather than the machine pushing. And accept the upper volume rather than fighting it: turning the intensity up to fill twenty feet of hall produces a strong smell at head height long before it fills the top, and a strong smell at head height is the concealment problem. The dedicated treatment of this room type is at the double-height living room page, written for a residence rather than a viewing.
3
The viewing
You are preparing a route, not commissioning a residence
This is where a viewing diverges from every other villa scenting question, and it is what saves you money. A family living in that villa is scenting a home: they want the whole envelope even, all day, for years, and for them the honest answer at 2,000 to 3,400 cubic metres is either several zoned machines or an Aangan (₹25,999) ducted into real HVAC, permanently installed and permanently running. That is the question answered on the villa sizing and coverage guide. You are doing something different. A buyer walks a route: they come through the gate or the porch, into the entrance hall, into the double-height living and dining volume, out to the deck or garden, up the stairs to the landing, and then in and out of individual rooms one at a time with the doors being opened as they go. The bedrooms, dressing rooms, staff quarters, utility wing and store are entered briefly and separately, and each is its own volume behind its own door - which means no machine anywhere in the villa was ever reaching them regardless of its rating. So scent the route: the entrance, the double-height volume, and the upper landing. That is one Vaayu if the entrance and the living volume are genuinely open to each other, two if they are not, and reeds from ₹749 in the pockets that do not justify a machine, such as a powder room or a study. It is a fraction of the envelope answer and it is what the buyer actually experiences. Two constraints to plan for: every unit needs its own live socket, which in a vacant villa is a real question rather than a detail, and every unit needs to be started forty-five to sixty minutes before the buyer arrives, which in a large house means arriving earlier than you think. The route page and the 5,000 sq ft villa page cover the pattern.
Tip: a resident scents an envelope; a broker scents a route - and the route is usually a third of the building.
The SOSA principle
The height is the number people miss. 6,000 sq ft at 10 ft is about 1,700 cubic metres; at 20 ft it is about 3,400 - the same floor plan, twice the air, and half of it above anybody's head.
Roughly three and a half Vaayus for the whole envelope, about two for a realistic mixed-height villa, and often one or two if you scent only the route the buyer walks.

The SOSA commercial edit
Whatever your business sells, the system logic is the same: one signature, sized to the space, scheduled so it never depends on anyone's memory. A single small room or a consultation corner can sit happily on reeds with no power at all; a customer-facing floor wants the Vaayu; a venue or a flagship wants HVAC. Every SOSA system is supported from India, and the Hotel Collection blends - SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations - run across the powered ones. Honest notes for business owners: scenting compounds a well-run premises and rescues nothing. Ventilation, air-conditioning and cleaning come first, and fragrance never substitutes for hygiene or air quality - if the air is stale, damp or smoky, fix that at the source before any scent goes in. The people most exposed to the fragrance are not your customers but your STAFF, who work eight-hour shifts in it, which is why whisper calibration and locked settings are standard on every SOSA commercial install, and any staff sensitivity report should be treated as a recalibration signal rather than a complaint. Healthcare and wellness spaces need extra restraint: keep scenting to reception and circulation areas, never treatment rooms, and the practitioner's judgement overrides anything in this guide. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ultrasonic systems use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Vaayu and HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - the formats are not interchangeable. WhatsApp consult: +91 96192 18531. ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
I have walked into jewellery showrooms lit like museums, bridal boutiques with hand-embroidered walls, furniture floors styled down to the last cushion, clinics with better art than most galleries - and in almost every one of them, the air was an afterthought. Floor polish, packaging cartons, the phenyl from the morning mopping, the workshop or the loading bay drifting forward. The one thing every customer takes in before they see anything is the thing most businesses leave to chance.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, where the world's scent-marketing perfumers learn the craft, and what I build for Indian businesses is the same architecture the global hospitality brands use, whatever you sell: one signature, sized to the space, run on a schedule - so the scent is as reliable as your lighting. A consultation corner may only need reeds; a full floor needs the Vaayu; a venue needs the HVAC systems. If you want it applied to your specific premises, message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the type of space and its approximate size - I read those descriptions myself.
Everything is made or assembled for Indian conditions, supported from Pune - and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your brand gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get away with one Vaayu if I just turn it up?
No, and turning it up makes the outcome worse rather than better. Coverage is not a linear dial you can push past its rating: a machine rated at about 1000 cubic metres asked to hold about 3,400 will produce a strong, obvious concentration near itself and nothing worth noticing at the far end of the villa, which is the exact opposite of what you want. Even and quiet across the route beats strong in one place and absent everywhere else, every single time. And there is the concealment problem sitting behind it - a buyer who walks into a hall with a noticeable pocket of fragrance around the entrance and then finds the rest of the house smelling of nothing has been told, quite clearly, that somebody prepared the entrance. If your budget stretches to one machine, do not stretch that machine across the villa. Put it where the route concentrates, run it low, and use reeds from Rs 749 in the smaller pockets. That is a better viewing than one overworked unit.
Does the Aangan make sense for a property I have a mandate on but do not own?
Usually not, and the reason is structural rather than financial. The Aangan at Rs 25,999 is an HVAC nebulising system covering approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, and it works by being installed into a building's ducted air conditioning. That makes it a fixture in somebody else's property, requiring the owner's decision and a real installation, and it only functions at all if the villa has genuine ducted HVAC rather than split units, which many Indian villas do not. It is the correct answer when the owner wants the villa scented permanently, for themselves or as part of handing over a finished home, and the broker's role is to introduce the idea rather than to buy it. For a viewing on a mandate that may run six months, portable zoned Vaayus at Rs 11,999 each are the sane choice, because they leave with you. There is a page in this bank on mounting or installing anything in a property you do not own.
Where exactly should the machines go in a double-height living space?
Low, in the occupied band, and in the path of air that is already moving. The instinct in a tall room is to place high so the fragrance falls, and that is wrong twice over: warm air is already carrying everything upward, so a high source loses its output into the ceiling void, and a machine on a mezzanine rail or a high ledge is also visible, which is its own problem. Put it at console or side-table height in the occupied part of the room, out of the sightline from the entrance, and preferably near something that moves air - an air-conditioning return, a doorway between two connected spaces, or the reach of a ceiling fan - so the room does the distribution. Keep it off the direct path of a sliding door to a deck or garden, because you will be scenting the lawn. And keep it out of the photograph: if a buyer sees the machine, they have been told the property was prepared, which is a small but avoidable loss.
The villa is vacant and the power is disconnected. What now?
Then the Vaayu is not an option, and this is worth settling before you plan anything else rather than after. The Vaayu is mains powered at DC 12V and about 5 watts - a very small draw, but it needs a live socket, and in a villa with the supply disconnected there is nothing to plug it into. There are two routes. The first is to get the supply restored for the period the property is being shown, which is often possible with a conversation with the owner or the society and is worth pursuing anyway, because a vacant villa you cannot light, cannot run fans in and cannot air-condition is a poor viewing for several reasons that have nothing to do with fragrance. The second, if the supply genuinely cannot be restored, is reeds from Rs 749 placed a day ahead at the entrance and in the main living volume, plus hard work on ventilation and cleaning. What we would not do is buy a cordless personal-space diffuser and hope it fills a double-height hall; it is not rated for a room and it will not.
Will scenting a villa this size actually make a difference to a buyer?
It will change what the property smells like, which is worth controlling, and that is as far as the honest claim goes. Ambient scent research supports improved evaluations of a space and of the service delivered in it, longer dwell and stronger recall, at moderate effect sizes - and it consistently finds that congruence and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting, and that no scent effect survives poor ventilation or poor cleaning. It supports nothing about offers, negotiation, sale price or how quickly a property sells, and a villa at this size is a decision made on land, layout, light, location, title and price. What preparing the air does is remove a reason for a buyer to feel something is off in a large empty house, which is a real risk in a property that has been closed between viewings. Do the ventilation and cleaning first, scent the route quietly second, and do not let anybody sell you a machine on a promise about the outcome.

Facts verified August 2026: Ambient scent research consistently associates pleasant, congruent scenting with improved evaluations of a space and its service, longer dwell time and stronger brand recall at moderate effect sizes; congruence (scent matching the setting) and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting in replicated studies, and no scent effect survives poor ventilation, poor cleaning or poor indoor air quality. Olfactory memory is unusually durable: scent-linked brand memories persist and retrieve for years, which is the mechanism behind signature scents. Staff exposure is the design constraint, since employees breathe the fragrance for full shifts: whisper calibration, locked settings and sensitivity accommodations are standard practice, and healthcare and wellness settings call for extra restraint. SOSA systems: alcohol-free reed diffusers from ₹749 for single rooms with no power needed; Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic (₹1,899) and Megh 6L ultrasonic (₹3,499) run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from ₹299; refills from ₹999, 100ml ₹999); SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine, ~1000m³ coverage, Bluetooth app and timer; SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Ultrasonic systems run water-based fragrance; the Vaayu and the HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - the two formats are not interchangeable. Made in India.
