Route away from the reed when their life says so: hotels → Sukoon ₹1,899; a car → Safar ₹3,999; a business → Vaayu ₹11,999; a fragrance wearer → a 6ml or 12ml attar ₹669–₹1,199; a small room or bedside → Boond ₹899.
Every honest gap, in one line: no SOSA gift card · no verified gift wrap, gift note or personalisation · no gift hamper, gift box or curated reed set · no room or home spray, only car perfumes · no hotel-inspired reed diffuser · no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed · no aquatic or clean-linen reed · no corporate or bulk programme · and no reed diffuser in any existing gifting collection, so buy from the individual product page.
2. Set the size by the room, not by the budget. A 50ml at ₹749–₹849 covers up to about 150 sq ft and runs 6–8 weeks — bedroom, study, bathroom. A 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349 covers above that and runs 14–18 weeks — drawing room, kitchen, open-plan flat. A duo of two 50ml bottles at ₹1,498–₹1,598 covers two rooms and hedges the scent, and is the best value in the range.
3. The difference between a parent and an in-law is the width of the band, not the product. With your own parents you can err downward without consequence; the gift is read by two people who already know what they think of you. With in-laws you can err in both directions, because a very large gift creates an obligation that has to be answered. In practice: parents ₹749–₹1,899, in-laws ₹799–₹1,598.
4. Route away from the reed whenever their life points elsewhere. A parent who loves hotels wants the Sukoon ₹1,899, because the hotel-inspired scents are ultrasonic-only. One who drives wants the Safar ₹3,999. One who owns a business wants the Vaayu ₹11,999, at 1000 m³ of air volume with an app and a timer. One who wears fragrance wants a 6ml or 12ml attar.
5. Lead soft, and say the reeds are adjustable. Older households almost always want less fragrance than the buyer imagines. Evening Calm at 8.9 is the gentlest composition we make. Six reeds is full strength, three is a bedroom, two in a small room makes a 50ml last close to three months — and nobody removes reeds from a present unless they have been told they may.
Alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, IFRA-compliant, 0 ppm formaldehyde, six fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle. Composed in Pune. Free shipping above ₹499, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The two axes this whole family sits on
Every page in this cluster is a special case of one geometry, and stating it once here saves repeating it nine times. Picture the decision as a plane with two axes. The vertical axis is spend, and respect pushes you up it. A gift to the people who raised you, or to the people who raised your partner, is read partly as a statement about how seriously you take the relationship, and a gift that is visibly cheap is heard as a comment. The horizontal axis is intimacy, and appropriateness pushes you down it. The further a gift moves toward the recipient's body, wardrobe, diet, health or private life, the more it asserts a familiarity that may or may not exist, and in this particular family an over-assertion is worse than an under-assertion.
The difficulty is that in most categories the two axes are welded together: to spend more you must become more personal. Spend more on clothing and you are making a larger claim about somebody's taste. Spend more on jewellery and you have moved into a register that carries meaning nobody asked for. Spend more on food and you have not moved up the respect axis at all, you have simply bought a larger quantity of something identical to what eleven other people sent. Home fragrance is the category where the two axes come apart, because its subject stays fixed on the room no matter what it costs. A ₹749 reed and a ₹2,598 duo are making exactly the same claim about the relationship; only the generosity changes. That single property is why this catalogue answers this family so well, and it is the argument the other nine pages elaborate rather than replace.
Evening Calm 130ml₹1,299Respect in this family is not measured in rupees so much as in legibility of decision. A gift reads as respectful when it is obvious that a choice was made for this household in particular, and reads as perfunctory when it could have been bought by the dozen without anybody's name attached. That is good news, because it means the jump that matters is the one from generic to specific rather than the one from ₹799 to ₹2,598. The rung I would spend on first is the 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349, which buys 14–18 weeks instead of 6–8 and a bottle with real presence on a console. The rung above that, the duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598, buys something subtler: two visible decisions rather than one.
Mountain Breeze 130ml₹1,349Everything on the house side of that line is safe at any price. Everything on the body side needs a relationship to justify it, and the relationship either exists or it does not — it cannot be manufactured by spending more. This is why a 12ml attar at ₹1,149–₹1,199 is a wonderful gift for a parent who already wears attar and a slightly uncomfortable one for an in-law whose habits you are guessing at, even though it is the same object at the same price. It is also why we never recommend a message-printed candle anywhere in this family: a printed sentiment is read by whoever is standing in the room, and it converts a private gesture into a public one. Where a candle is the right register, use a plain core jar candle at ₹379, or the two-pack at ₹664.
Day & Night duo₹1,498The products are the same; the tolerances are not. With your own parents there is essentially one failure mode — spending too little or too generically — and the ceiling is as high as you like, because nobody in that house is going to feel obliged to match you. With in-laws there are two failure modes, and the upward one is the surprise: a very large gift has to be answered, and the household will feel it should. So the comfortable in-law band is ₹799 to ₹1,598, while parents run comfortably to ₹1,899 and beyond where their life justifies it. The second difference is knowledge. You know your parents' house; with in-laws you generally know the public half and not the private half, which is an argument for buying for the rooms you have actually sat in and for the duo, which does not require you to guess which room it lands in.
The full ladder, rung by rung, and what each one actually buys
Courtesy, ₹379–₹749. A core 80g jar candle at ₹379 or the two-pack at ₹664 — Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings, Evening Walks, all plain and message-free, burning roughly 15–18 hours a jar and 30–36 for the pair. A 3ml attar from ₹379. One 50ml Morning Freshness at ₹749. This rung is honest and useful for a wide list of households, and I would not use it for your own parents or in-laws except where a modest gesture is the deliberate intention.
Considered, ₹749–₹1,349. The workhorse of the entire universe and where most of this family should land: one 50ml reed at ₹749–₹849 running 6–8 weeks, one 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349 running 14–18, or a 6ml attar at ₹669–₹699. The 130ml is the rung I recommend most often for a parent or an in-law, because duration is the single property that separates a gift from a gesture during a festival where everything else in the house is consumed or shelved within the week.
Substantial, ₹1,498–₹1,899. A duo of two 50ml bottles — Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598 — a 12ml attar at ₹1,149–₹1,199, or the Sukoon at ₹1,899. The Sukoon is unusually strong in this band because it arrives as an object and a fragrance: a 500ml ultrasonic covering 270–320 sq ft, running 16–18 hours on low, with three 15ml Hotel Collection scents in the box. It looks like considerably more than it costs. Its honest limit is that it needs a socket, water and topping up.
Premium, ₹2,498–₹3,999. A 130ml duo at ₹2,498–₹2,598, the attar trio at ₹3,189, the Megh at ₹3,499 or the Safar at ₹3,999. Two warnings on this rung. The Megh's six-litre tank buys about 100 hours of runtime and winter humidity, and its coverage is only 215 sq ft — it is never a coverage upgrade on the Sukoon, and anybody telling you otherwise has read the tank size as though it were a room size. And for in-laws specifically, this rung is where a gift starts to create an obligation; I would use it only with a reason attached, such as a first Diwali in a new house.
Exceptional, ₹11,999 and above. The Vaayu at ₹11,999 — waterless cold-air nebulising, 1000 m³ of coverage, Bluetooth app and timer — for a parent or father-in-law who owns a shop, a showroom, a clinic, an office or a villa. Note the unit carefully: that is an air volume in cubic metres and it must never be converted into square feet, because what you are paying for is enclosed air, and a double-height showroom consumes far more capacity than its floor plan implies. Above it, Aangan ₹25,999 at roughly 8,000–10,000 sq ft and Meenar ₹38,500 at 12,000–18,000.

Every honest gap in one place — and where mithai still wins
This is the reference section, so here is everything SOSA does not have, collected rather than scattered. There is no SOSA gift card, which means there is no way to defer this decision and no fallback for a household you cannot read. There is no verified gift wrap, gift note, gift message field or personalisation of any kind, and nothing on this site should be taken as implying one. There is no gift hamper, gift box or curated gift set of reed diffusers — a duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598 is a two-bottle product and is the nearest thing that exists. No reed diffuser appears in any existing gifting collection; those collections are candle-only, so link to and buy from the individual product page. And there is no corporate or bulk programme, no bulk rate, no GST arrangement and no custom branding, which is worth knowing if a father-in-law's business made the Vaayu tempting to buy in quantity.
On the product side: there is no room spray or home spray — every spray SOSA makes is a car perfume, and it belongs in a car. There is no hotel-inspired reed diffuser, because the seven hotel-inspired scents are water-based and work only in an ultrasonic machine; they cannot go into a reed and reed oil cannot go into an ultrasonic. A 15ml Hotel Collection scent at ₹299 is a refill and never a standalone gift, since without a machine it does nothing at all. There is no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed diffuser, and no aquatic, marine, clean-linen or musk-led reed either — the nearest honest answers are Mountain Breeze for dry-resinous and Evening Calm for soft clean skin, and neither is the same thing. Nawaab in the attar line is a real oud, but it is worn on skin and does not make an oud reed exist. And the reed range contains no orange blossom or neroli.
Now the alternative this family is most often displacing, treated fairly. For a first Diwali visit to a household where you are still a guest, mithai is genuinely the right gift — most obviously with in-laws you have recently acquired, but equally in any house where the sweet exchange is the greeting. It is a ritual form, it needs no explanation, it is offered and shared in the room while people are sitting together, and it does the specific job of arriving properly. A composed home fragrance cannot do that job; it is a considered personal gift, and a considered personal gift very early in a relationship can read as effortful. Take the sweets, without treating it as a compromise. What mithai cannot do is survive the pile — several boxes come through the same door in the same few days, they are largely interchangeable, and by the second week they are gone. That is not a flaw in mithai; it is what a ritual gift is for. It simply means it is the wrong instrument for the message I thought about you in particular.
And there are households where the answer is to buy nothing from us. If either parent has a genuine aversion to fragrance — a real and quiet position that a great many people hold — no product here is right, however carefully chosen. The same is true where a respiratory condition in the house makes anybody cautious about what is added to the air. Our reeds are alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, IFRA-compliant and test at 0 ppm formaldehyde, and I stand behind all of that; none of it is an argument for putting fragrance where it is not wanted. If the house is mid-renovation, wait: everything you send will lose to paint and dust.
The buying order for the whole family — and the gap row
If you read nothing else, read this. It is the order in which I would actually buy for a parent or an in-law, with the reason attached to each rung, and the final row is what does not exist so that no assumption survives to checkout.

Versailles
Of all the letters we receive during the festive season, the ones about parents and in-laws are the most anxious and the least about fragrance. Almost nobody asks whether their mother prefers rose or cedar. They ask whether ₹1,299 is too much, or whether a gift is too familiar, or whether it will look as though they did not try. Those are questions about a relationship, and the reason home fragrance answers them is a structural accident rather than anything clever on our part: the subject of the gift is a room, and a room cannot be flattered or offended.
What I would like this page to leave you with is the practical half. Buy the size that matches the room rather than the size that matches your budget. Lead with the softest thing, because an older household almost always wants less than you are imagining. And when you hand it over, say that the reeds come out — three instead of six halves the projection, two in a small room makes a bottle last months. That sentence is worth more than a whole rung of the ladder, and it is the difference between a fragrance that stays where you meant it and one that quietly relocates to the spare room.
The last thing is about honesty, and it is why the gap list on this page is as long as it is. We do not have a gift card, we do not have wrapping, we do not have a hamper, and we do not have an oud reed diffuser however often I am asked for one. Every one of those would be easy to imply and impossible to deliver, and a gift bought on an implication is a worse outcome for you than a page that told you plainly. Everything is composed in Pune, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
