If you can stretch ₹50 a head: Evening Calm at ₹799 — 8.9 on the SOSA strength scale, the softest thing we make and the safest blind buy in the range. Thirty is ₹23,970.
Do not lead with: Fresh Brew ₹849, which is a warm gourmand at 9.5 and superb for a coffee lover but wrong for a stranger; and Garden Bloom ₹799, because anti-floral is a common and firmly held position.
The honest gap: a duo lets a recipient keep the one they prefer, and duos begin at ₹1,498 — above this budget. Under ₹1,000 you are choosing one scent blind for everybody, so choose the one fewest people can object to rather than the one you like best.
2. Evening Calm at ₹799 if the extra ₹50 a head is available. Kashmir lavender, real chamomile and a soft musk drydown, 8.9 and the softest thing in the range. It is the safest blind buy we make, because it is quiet enough not to impose and because lavender carries no inherited association in an Indian household — which is more than can be said for rose, jasmine, coffee or pine.
3. Do not lead with Fresh Brew at ₹849 on a staff list. It is Coorg coffee, Kerala vanilla and soft caramel at 9.5, the deepest thing we make, and it is genuinely excellent for somebody you know drinks coffee at their desk. On thirty unknown households it is the highest-variance choice in the range, and variance is precisely what you are trying to remove.
4. If your team skews towards people who dislike anything sweet or floral, use Mountain Breeze at ₹849. Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar at 9.4 — the least gendered and least sweet thing in the line, and the answer we recommend most often for people who are hard to buy for. It is deeper than the other two, so it is a considered choice rather than a default.
5. Buy one item for one tier, and order it in a single go. Gifts given inside an office are compared within minutes, and a difference between two of them is read as a statement about standing. The consistency costs nothing and is the part people notice.
Alcohol-free on a heat-stable CCT carrier, phthalate-free, paraben-free, IFRA-compliant, 0 ppm formaldehyde, six fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle. Composed in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Why low polarisation beats generosity on a list of thirty
When you buy a gift for one person you are trying to maximise how much they like it. When you buy the same gift for thirty, you are doing something mathematically different, and most buyers never notice the switch. You are no longer choosing the highest average. You are choosing the highest floor. A scent that eight people adore and six find overpowering is a worse staff gift than one that thirty people find pleasant, even though the first has better moments in it. The person who dislikes theirs will not say so, will not use it, and will remember the company chose it. Below are the three questions that actually protect you.
Evening Calm₹799This is not quite true, but it is close enough to be useful. Every SOSA bottle ships with six fibre reeds and the reed count is a volume dial: six for a living room, three or four for a bedroom, two or three in a small bathroom. A recipient who finds a fragrance too strong will usually just stop using it rather than pull reeds out, because it does not occur to most people that they can. So the safe direction on a blind list is downwards. Evening Calm at 8.9 is deliberately the softest thing we make and the review that sums it up is Aditi's — "it feels grown-up, not like a cheap bath-shop candle." That is the register you want arriving in thirty flats.
Garden Bloom₹799This is the criterion people miss, and it has nothing to do with quality. In an Indian home, rose and jasmine are already somewhere — a prayer room, a soap, a hair oil, a wedding — and a floral home fragrance is read against those memories rather than on its own terms. Pine reads as a cleaning product to a great many people until they smell a real one. Coffee is a food. Garden Bloom at ₹799 is our most-gifted floral and I recommend it happily when you know the person likes flowers — but anti-floral is a common and firmly held position, and on a blind list of thirty you will find several. Lavender, oddly, arrives unattached. That is most of why Evening Calm is the safest thing we make.
Fresh Brew₹849A 50ml bottle suits a room up to about 150 sq ft, which in most Indian flats means a bedroom, a bathroom or a small study — but you have no idea which one your gift will land in, and some scents are much fussier about that than others. Fresh Brew at ₹849 is the clearest example. It is Coorg coffee, Kerala vanilla and soft caramel at 9.5, the deepest thing we make, and in a living room in December it is remarkable. In a small warm bedroom it is a lot. Its excellence is conditional, and conditional is the opposite of what a staff list needs. Bright and soft travel between rooms; deep and gourmand do not.
The five scents, ranked for exactly this job
The whole reed line assessed as a blind buy at volume, which is a different ranking from the one you would get if you asked which is the most interesting fragrance. Two of these are scents I would recommend enthusiastically to an individual and will not put at the top of a staff list, and the reason is variance rather than quality.
| Scent | Notes | Strength | How safe on a staff list | 50ml |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Morning Freshness ★ | Malabar lemon · peppermint · eucalyptus | 9.0 · bright | Safest at volume — cheapest reed, and almost nobody has a position on lemon | ₹749 |
| Evening Calm | Kashmir lavender · chamomile · soft musk | 8.9 · softest in range | The safest blind buy we make; lavender carries no inherited association | ₹799 |
| Mountain Breeze | Himalayan pine · sage · Indian cedar | 9.4 · deep woody | Best for a team of people who are hard to buy for; least gendered, least sweet | ₹849 |
| Garden Bloom | British rose · night-blooming jasmine | 8.9 · medium floral | Only when you know they like flowers — anti-floral is common and firmly held | ₹799 |
| Fresh Brew | Coorg coffee · Kerala vanilla · caramel | 9.5 · deepest in range | The least safe blind buy — superb for a coffee lover, wrong for a stranger | ₹849 |

Everything under ₹1,000, and what each is actually for
The reed is not the only thing inside this budget, and there are lists where it is not the right answer. A team of six who work closely together is a different problem from a floor of forty, and the two-pack of candles at ₹664 does something the reed does not: it is two objects, which reads as more generous at a lower price and travels home just as easily.
| Item | What it is | Best for | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morning Freshness 50ml ★ | Reed diffuser, 6–8 weeks, six fibre reeds, refillable glass | The default for any list where ₹749 a head is affordable | ₹749 |
| Evening Calm 50ml | The same build, at 8.9 the softest scent in the range | Shorter lists, older teams, anyone you suspect finds fragrance a lot | ₹799 |
| Mountain Breeze 50ml | Pine, sage and cedar — the least sweet and least gendered | Teams where several people would call a floral a flower shop | ₹849 |
| Boond ultrasonic machine | 300ml tank, up to about 150 sq ft, roughly 6 hours, USB, night light | A gadget-minded team — but it needs oil bought separately, so it is not complete on arrival | ₹899 |
| Candle two-pack | Two message-free jars, roughly 30–36 hours between them | Small close teams, where two objects read warmer than one bottle | ₹664 |
| Sandalwood or Smoked Oudh candle | A named material in plain glass, complete in the box | Dropping a tier to make a longer list affordable | ₹449 |
The arithmetic, and the question of one scent or several
Worth doing before you open a basket. At ₹749 a head: ten people is ₹7,490, twenty is ₹14,980, twenty-five is ₹18,725 and thirty is ₹22,470. At ₹799: ten is ₹7,990, twenty is ₹15,980, thirty is ₹23,970. The gap between the two across thirty people is ₹1,500, which is real but not decisive — I would spend it if the team is small enough that people will discuss the gift, and save it if the list is long enough that the total is the constraint. If neither figure works, dropping to the ₹449 candles takes thirty people to ₹13,470, and that is a coherent decision rather than a compromise as long as everyone in the tier gets the same thing.
Now the part people ask about most: one scent or a mix. My preference is one scent per tier, because it removes comparison entirely and because it looks deliberate. But there is a structural fact worth knowing, and it runs the other way. Each of the five reeds is stocked separately, so a large single-scent order is harder to fill than a large mixed-scent one. A buyer who will accept an assortment has considerably more room than one who needs forty identical bottles. If you are willing to split — Morning Freshness for one floor and Evening Calm for another, say, divided by team rather than by seniority — you have made your own life easier and nobody reads it as a ranking, because the two teams are not comparing across a corridor.
And the flat statement I would rather make here than have you discover later: there is no SOSA bulk programme. No bulk rate, no discount band, no GST invoicing scheme, no custom branding, no minimum order, no lead-time promise and no account manager. You order through the site like anybody else. For anything above roughly twenty-five units, write to us through the contact page before you order — availability by scent varies and it is better to ask than to assume. That is the only thing I can honestly offer a quantity buyer, and it is worth more than a rate card would be, because the risk on a staff list has never been the price. It is twenty-five identical wrong gifts.
The paragraph in favour of sweets and dry fruits
There are workplaces where mithai or dry fruits are the right gift and a diffuser would be a substitution nobody asked for. Where the office is small enough to feel like a household, where the gift is handed over alongside a shared lunch, or where the tradition is long enough that its absence would be the story, sweets are the correct form of the greeting. They also have one property nothing on this page can match: they are opened and shared on the spot, and that shared half-hour is a real thing.
The case against them on a list of thirty is arrival rather than quality. A well-liked employee receives several boxes across the festive days, from you and from vendors and from neighbours, and the marginal one is passed on rather than eaten. Dry fruits duplicate even more reliably than sweets, because everybody defaults to them. And both raise dietary questions that are awkward at a desk — the colleague managing diabetes, the household fasting, the family avoiding dairy or nuts. A reed diffuser has no dietary exposure at all, needs no size, and is still running in December when the boxes are long gone. Where yours will be the only box, buy sweets. Where it will be one of six, buy the bottle.
What to buy for employees under ₹1,000
In buying order, with the honest gap on the last row.
| Buy | What it is | When it is the right answer | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Morning Freshness 50ml ★ | The cheapest reed, 9.0 and bright, lowest polarisation at volume | First choice on any list of fifteen or more | ₹749 |
| 2. Evening Calm 50ml | 8.9, the softest in the range, and the safest blind buy we make | Shorter lists, or any team where fragrance might be found intrusive | ₹799 |
| 3. Mountain Breeze 50ml | Pine, sage, cedar — least sweet, least gendered, 9.4 | A team full of people who are hard to buy for | ₹849 |
| 4. Sandalwood candle, if the list is longer than the budget | A named material in plain glass, complete in the box | Dropping the whole tier cleanly rather than mixing two price points | ₹449 |
| The honest gap: the hedge starts at ₹1,498 | A duo is two 50ml bottles, so the recipient keeps the one they prefer — it is the only way to stop guessing, and it is above this budget. Under ₹1,000 you are choosing one scent blind for everybody | If you have twelve people rather than thirty, this is the better answer | ₹1,498 |
Versailles
The hardest instruction to give a founder about her own range is do not lead with the interesting one, and it is the correct instruction here. Fresh Brew is the composition in this line I am proudest of. Real Coorg coffee is difficult to hold in a reed without it going to cake shop, and it does not. It is also, for a list of thirty strangers, the wrong choice, and a page that told you otherwise because I like it would be doing you a disservice.
Blind buying at volume is a discipline, not a preference. Four criteria and no exceptions: low strength, low polarisation, works in any room, and no cultural or memory loading. Morning Freshness and Evening Calm clear all four. Mountain Breeze clears three and is the right answer when you know the team leans away from anything sweet. Garden Bloom and Fresh Brew are both excellent and both conditional, and conditional is what you are trying to remove.
The last thing is the one I would most like a corporate buyer to hear. There is no bulk rate here and I am not going to invent one. What I can give you instead is the advice that actually protects a quantity order: buy identically within a tier, choose the least polarising scent rather than your favourite, and write to us before ordering more than about twenty-five so we can tell you honestly what is available in which scent. Everything is composed in Pune, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
