Move two, the size: 50ml runs 6–8 weeks, 130ml runs 14–18. At the same six reeds they project the same. Size buys duration, never reach — and for a gift, 50ml is usually the better shape.
Move three, one or two: one bottle scents one room. A duo — Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598 — is for a flat with a door between two spaces, not for a studio.
If you want to stop reading: Garden Bloom 50ml, ₹799. It is the right answer more often than any other single line on this page.
2. Move two — pick the size by duration, never by strength. A 50ml runs 6–8 weeks and a 130ml runs 14–18. At the same six reeds they release at about the same rate and fill about the same amount of room. If anybody tells you the bigger bottle is stronger, they are selling rather than explaining.
3. For a gift, 50ml is usually the better shape. It reads as complete, it costs less, and — the part nobody says out loud — if the household turns out not to love the fragrance, six to eight weeks is a mercy and eighteen is a sentence. Buy the 130ml when you know the scent will land, or when you would like it still running the next time you visit.
4. Move three — one bottle scents one room. There is no fan behind a reed diffuser; the fragrance thins with distance and stops at a closed door. The only currency that buys coverage is another bottle, which is what the duos are: two 50ml in one purchase at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 or ₹1,598, and ₹2,498–₹2,598 in the larger size.
5. Do not send two different scents into one open space. Two compositions in a single connected volume need to share a note or you get a seam where they meet. Mountain Breeze and Morning Freshness meet on green eucalyptus; Fresh Brew and Garden Bloom meet on warmth and a soft musk. In a studio, give one bottle.
6. Read the strength numbers correctly. Fresh Brew 9.5, Mountain Breeze 9.4, Morning Freshness 9.0, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm 8.9 are positions on SOSA's own internal scale at six reeds — not an industry standard, not a concentration, not a quality ranking.
7. Know the gaps. There is no oud, no musk-forward composition and no aquatic in this range, and replacement reeds are not sold separately. If one of those is what the household wants, we are the wrong shop for this gift and I would rather say so than stretch the nearest bottle to cover it.
Everything is composed and handmade in small batches in Pune, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Part one — the three moves, in order
The reason people stall on this decision is that they try to make all three choices at once, and the three are not independent. Scent narrows nothing else; size and count both depend on the flat rather than the person. Taken in order the whole thing collapses into about four minutes of thinking, and the order matters because getting it wrong means re-doing the first move after the third one changes your mind.
Fresh Brew₹1,349 · 130mlBoth sizes ship with the same six fibre reeds and the same composition, and at the same reed count they release at about the same rate. What the larger bottle holds is more oil beneath those reeds, which is duration and nothing else — 14 to 18 weeks against 6 to 8. It is the single most common misunderstanding in this category and the most expensive one, because people buy up expecting a fuller room and get a longer season instead. For a housewarming I recommend 50ml more often than not: it is a complete gift, it reads as complete, and it has a stated end, which in a small flat is a kindness rather than a limitation. The 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349 earns its place when you are confident the scent will land, when the household is close enough that you want it running into the winter, or when the gift needs a little more presence in the hand.Part two — every shape the range comes in
Thirteen ways to buy the same five compositions, with what each one is for. Prices are the whole of the reed range; there is nothing above, below or between them, and the least expensive is ₹749.
| The shape | Price | How long it runs | Rooms it covers | When it is the right shape |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One 50ml bottle ★ | ₹749–₹849 | 6–8 weeks | One | Most invitations, most flats, and every case where you are guessing at the scent |
| One 130ml bottle | ₹1,249–₹1,349 | 14–18 weeks | One — the same one | When you are confident of the scent, or want it running when you next visit |
| Day & Night · 2 × 50ml | ₹1,498 | 6–8 weeks each | Two, split by time of day | A flat with a bedroom behind a door — bright by day, soft at night |
| Fresh & Grounded · 2 × 50ml | ₹1,548 | 6–8 weeks each | Two, and they meet cleanly | A home where the door between the rooms is usually open — the two share green eucalyptus |
| Warmth & Bloom · 2 × 50ml | ₹1,598 | 6–8 weeks each | Two, joined by warmth | A household you know likes warm, rounded fragrance — the least neutral duo |
| Any duo in 2 × 130ml | ₹2,498–₹2,598 | 14–18 weeks each | Two | Family, and only where both the rooms and the tastes are known |
| The honest caveat: the oil refill — 300ml ₹2,399 or 500ml ₹3,499 — sits inside several of these price bands and is not a shape you can gift. It is oil alone: no glass vessel, no reeds, unusable by anyone who does not already own a diffuser. It is what the household buys for itself in November, after the bottle you gave them runs out. Replacement reeds are not sold separately either; our guidance is simply to refresh them every few months. | ||||

Part three — where this range stops
Three boundaries, and I would rather draw them here than have you discover them after the wrapping is off. The first is the household. If anybody there has said they dislike scented things, no bottle on this page is the right gift — a reed diffuser cannot be switched off, which is exactly what makes it a good gift everywhere else. The same applies if there is a newborn in the house or if somebody has told you fragrance bothers them. Give something that is not fragranced; a ceramic mug at ₹474 or the cloud trinket dish at ₹664 does the job with nobody having to have an awkward conversation. Keep any diffuser away from children and pets, and stand it on a tray, because the oil marks wood and stone.
The second is the room. Past roughly 250 to 300 square feet of connected open volume, reeds run out of format, and the answer is not a third bottle on a third shelf. It is the Sukoon at ₹1,899, which covers 270–320 sq ft with timers and three 15ml fragrances in the box — a different sort of gift rather than a bigger one, since it needs a socket, water and somebody to switch it on. Most homes that own both end up running them in different rooms for different reasons. The related boundary is on-demand fragrance: reeds are constant, passive and deliberately low, with no way to surge before guests arrive. If that is what the household wants, say so honestly rather than selling them a 9.5 and hoping.
The third is our own range, and it is short. There is no oud, no musk-forward composition and no aquatic in the SOSA reed line, and I am not going to point you at the nearest thing and pretend. If the person you are buying for has one of those in mind, buy them one from a house that makes it well. Replacement reeds are not sold as a separate item either — an honest gap, and our guidance is simply to refresh reeds every few months. And the last thing, which belongs on every page in this cluster: a new flat smells of paint, polish and sometimes damp, and fragrance does not remove any of that. Ventilation and time do. A diffuser sits alongside the paint until the paint fades, and then it is the pleasant thing left in the room — worth saying when you hand it over, so the gift gets judged on the right week.
Part four — one recommendation per reader
Find yourself in the left column. The second choice is there because roughly one reader in five discovers, halfway through, that they knew something they had not counted as knowledge.

Versailles
Five compositions is a deliberately small range and people occasionally ask why we have not made fifteen. The answer is that I would rather be able to tell you honestly which of five to buy than watch you scroll through a wall of names with nothing to choose between them. A range you can hold in your head is a range you can be advised on. Thirteen shapes is already more than most people want to think about on a Saturday.
The move that goes wrong most often is the second one. Somebody wants the gift to feel more substantial, they see a bigger bottle, and they buy it expecting a fuller room. It is not a fuller room; it is the same room for three times as long. I have written that sentence in nearly every guide I have published because the correction saves people money, and because a customer who buys the 130ml for the right reason is happy in February while one who bought it for the wrong reason is disappointed in week two.
What I will not do is tell you the recipient will love it. I do not know them and neither does any list. What I know is the mechanism: oil climbs six fibre reeds and leaves into the room, for six to eight weeks or fourteen to eighteen, in a home that does not have to do anything about it. Everything is composed and handmade in Pune in small batches, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
