Placement decides half of how a bathroom diffuser performs. The same reed can either greet you the moment you open the door or sit in a corner doing nothing — and in a wet room, the wrong spot also cuts its life short. Three rules settle it: dry, near moving air, out of the spray.
Quick answer
Best spot? A dry shelf or vanity near the door, at nose height, away from the shower.
Worst spots? The shower ledge, right under the exhaust fan, the floor, and the counter edge by the basin.
Why it matters? Water shortens a reed's life; the fan pulls scent straight out.
The short version
Short answer: Dry surface, near the door where air moves, nose height, away from spray and the fan.
People assume a bathroom is so small that placement can't matter much. But a bathroom has three things most rooms don't — a shower throwing water, an exhaust fan pulling air out, and a door that opens and closes many times a day. Each of those is a strong pull on where the scent goes and how long your diffuser lasts. Get the position right and a modest reed does the whole job. Get it wrong and you will be topping up a fading bottle and wondering why you can never smell it.

Away from water
Keep it dry — never on the shower ledge or basin edge

A reed diffuser's worst enemy in a bathroom is direct water. Splashes cloud and dilute the oil, and the constant wet-dry cycling near a shower makes the reeds swell and throw unevenly, so the bottle fades faster. Keep it on a dry surface — a cistern shelf, a wall shelf, or the vanity on the side furthest from the basin. For an electric Boond, "dry" also means safe: a stable shelf with the lead routed away from water.
Founder tip: if the only shelf you have is near the shower, a small splash guard or simply turning the bottle so its opening faces away from the spray helps a lot.

In the path of moving air
Near the door — not buried in a far corner or under the fan

Scent needs air movement to travel. The door is the busiest air current in a bathroom, so a diffuser near it catches you on the way in and rides the draught around the room. Two things to avoid: a dead corner far from the door, where the scent just pools; and the spot right beside the exhaust fan, which pulls the fragrance straight out before it disperses. Put the diffuser on the opposite side from the fan so the fan clears damp air while the scent still fills the room.
Honest caveat: run the fan first to clear moisture, then let the scent settle. If you run a Boond, keep it to short bursts — an already-damp room doesn't need the extra humidity.

At the right height
Nose height, off the floor, out of reach
Aim for roughly nose height — a shelf, the cistern top or the vanity — rather than the floor. Scent disperses better from there, and it stays clear of the mop bucket, splashing feet, curious children and pets. This matters most for an ultrasonic like the Boond, which holds water: a stable, higher, dry surface means a stray knock won't send it into the sink.
