Why does it matter which drawing? Because a site team builds from drawings. A layer that exists only in conversation with the client does not survive a programme with dozens of trades and a changing site team.
Does it belong on a mood board? A mood board can carry the intent, but it does not get built from. The position has to reach the electrical layout or it will not exist.
If it is not on a drawing, it does not get built
On the drawings, and the reason is practical rather than procedural. A construction site builds from documents. Over the course of a fit-out there will be dozens of trades, a site team that changes at least once, a main contractor with their own sequence and a gap of many months between the meeting where something was discussed and the day it would have had to be installed. Anything that exists only as a conversation with the client, or as an image on a mood board, does not survive that. It is not that anybody forgets deliberately - it is that a drawing is the only instrument that reliably converts an intention into a built thing. This layer lives in conversation more than almost any other, which is exactly why it goes missing more than almost any other. There are three documents it belongs on, and they do different jobs. The first is the electrical layout, and it is the one that genuinely binds. It carries the machine position in each connected volume and the socket that serves it. After the walls are closed, the plaster is on and the joinery has been made, adding that socket means chasing a wall, and not adding it means a visible cable running across a console in a room where every other detail has been resolved. Mark one position per connected volume rather than per room, because a machine distributes through connected moving air and cannot cross a closed door, so a large open living, dining and circulation space is a single problem. Place it on hard surface rather than beside a large soft piece, in the path of general air movement, and away from an air conditioning grille where it would either be pulled off before doing anything or distributed far more widely than intended. If the machine is to sit inside or on built-in furniture, it belongs on the joinery drawing too, with a note on shelf depth, because a shelf fifty millimetres too shallow makes the position unusable and nobody discovers that until the day the client moves in. The second document is the FF&E or finishes schedule, and it carries the products themselves, listed room by room and priced per room. Room by room matters for two reasons. It reflects the actual logic, because the plan rather than the area decides what each space needs. And it makes each number small and approvable rather than presenting one aggregate figure that invites a negotiation - a reed diffuser at Rs 749 to Rs 849 against a bedroom line is barely paused on. It is also where the exclusions go, written in as excluded rather than simply left out: the kitchen at any time, because cooking smell is aerosolised oil and extraction is the answer; children's rooms; a covered terrace, balcony or verandah, which cannot hold fragrance at all because the air is not enclosed; and staff quarters and utility areas. Writing a no into a schedule is more persuasive than any argument for the yeses, and it also prevents the request arriving later as a change. The third document is the handover pack, and it is what keeps the layer working after you have gone. It should carry the level and run schedule you set, the instruction that machines take the water-based Hotel Collection only at three to six drops per tank with a rinse between scents and never reed oil, which can damage them, and the reorder path so the client knows what to do in month four when the first reed bottle needs replacing. It should also carry the correction rule, which is the single most useful sentence in the whole pack: leave the level alone, and adjust only if a visitor remarks on it. That exists because the household adapts to a steady background within about an hour and can no longer detect it, so a client adjusting by nose will climb steadily upward and end up with a house that guests find strong. A rule protects them from that, and protects you from the phone call. What does not work is a mood board. A mood board is a legitimate place to carry the intent - it can say the house should read clean, dry and unsweet, close to a good hotel - but nothing gets built from a mood board, so if the position never reaches the electrical layout it will not exist. The same applies to a specification that says fragrance system as a single line with a lump sum: it communicates a budget rather than an instruction, and a site team cannot act on it. Two notes on what to write on those drawings. Keep the whole scheme to one register throughout the home, varied by intensity rather than by scent, because two registers meet in doorways many times a day and the collision reads as something being slightly wrong. And add a programme note rather than a drawing note that fragrance is the last layer in, after the site clean and after the building has been aired, because new paint, sealers, adhesives, engineered board and new coated upholstery off-gas for weeks and fragrance layered over that combines rather than masks. On the products, the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 covers a large open volume - waterless with no tank, coverage up to 1,000 square metres or roughly 10,700 square feet, with Bluetooth app and timer control. The Megh at Rs 3,499 has a 6L tank, the Sukoon at Rs 1,799 covers a single room and the Boond at Rs 799 a small one. Reeds cover closed rooms at Rs 749 to Rs 849, three to four months a bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. The seven Hotel Collection registers are Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, and they are SOSA's own interpretations, since we are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. Do not write any claim about mood, focus, sleep, stress or wellbeing onto a drawing or into a specification. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Volume pricing is quoted against the specification on WhatsApp.
Which drawing it belongs on
On the drawings, for a practical reason: a site builds from documents. Over a fit-out there are dozens of trades, a site team that changes at least once, and many months between the meeting where something was discussed and the day it would have had to be installed - anything living only as a conversation or a mood board does not survive that. Three documents carry it. The electrical layout binds: one machine position per connected volume with its socket, placed on hard surface rather than beside a large soft piece, in the path of general air movement, and away from an AC grille where it would be pulled off or spread too widely. One position per volume rather than per room, because a machine cannot cross a closed door. If it sits in built-in furniture it belongs on the joinery drawing with a shelf-depth note, since a shelf fifty millimetres too shallow makes the position unusable and nobody finds out until move-in. The FF&E schedule carries the products room by room and priced per room, which matches the real logic and makes each number approvable rather than presenting an aggregate that invites negotiation - and it is where the exclusions are written in as excluded rather than absent: the kitchen at any time, children's rooms, covered terraces which cannot hold fragrance at all, staff quarters and utility areas. The handover pack keeps it working after you have gone: the level and schedule, the instruction that machines take the water-based Hotel Collection only at three to six drops per tank with a rinse between scents and never reed oil, the reorder path for month four, and the correction rule - leave the level alone and adjust only if a visitor remarks, because the household adapts within an hour and adjusting by nose only climbs. Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
