This question has a physical answer before it has a preference. If reception and the meeting room share air, you cannot hold two different intensities in them, whatever equipment you buy. So the first job is finding out which situation you are in, and there is a simple test.
Quick answers — read this first
Should a client meeting room have a different fragrance intensity from reception? Only if they are genuinely separate air masses - a closed room with its own door, not an alcove off an open floor. If they share air, two settings are physically impossible and the longer-occupancy room sets the level for both. One SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) covers a connected floor; a SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) suits a genuinely closed room.
How do I tell whether two rooms share air? Run one register in the meeting room only, with the door closed as it normally is, for a full day. Then walk into reception from outside. If you can smell it there, they are one air mass. Also check the AC: two rooms on the same supply and return are connected regardless of the door.
Which room sets the level when they are connected? The one clients occupy longest. A level suited to two hours in a chair is lower than one suited to a five-minute wait, and the lower of the two has to govern, because the short-stay room can live with a quiet setting while the long-stay room cannot live with a strong one.
The short answer
Short answer: only if they are genuinely separate air masses. Where they share air, two intensities are physically impossible and the longer-occupancy room sets the level for both.
The pick: a connected floor is one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) at a single setting; two genuinely closed rooms are a SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) or three reeds each, at ₹749 to ₹849.
Next step: run the one-day test - register in the meeting room only, then walk into reception from outside. Or ask for a studio scenting plan.
Should my client meeting room have a different fragrance intensity from reception?
Yes in principle and often no in practice, and the deciding factor is physical rather than aesthetic. Start with the only question that matters: are these two rooms one air mass or two? A great many studios spend money answering the intensity question before answering this one, and end up with two machines fighting each other across an open doorway. There is a test, and it takes a day. Run your register in the meeting room only - reeds are easiest for this - with the door in its normal position, for a full working day. Then leave the building, stand outside for five minutes so your nose resets, walk into reception and pay attention. If you can smell the meeting room's register in reception, they are one air mass, and no amount of equipment will hold two different intensities between them. Check the air conditioning as well: two rooms on the same supply and return duct are connected whether or not there is a door, and a closed door across a gap under it is not a seal. A room with its own compressor, its own return, a full-height door and a solid ceiling to slab is genuinely separate. If they are one air mass, the long-occupancy room sets the level for both, and it sets it low. This is not a compromise, it is the only correct answer. A level suited to a two-hour meeting is lower than a level suited to a five-minute wait, and the asymmetry runs one way: a reception that is slightly quieter than you might have chosen costs nothing, while a meeting room that is slightly strong is working on somebody for two hours. So the floor runs at the meeting room's setting, and reception simply lives with it. One SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is the right hardware for exactly this case - one machine, one setting, one air mass, key-locked so nobody restores the difference by hand - and above about 3,000 sq ft of one connected volume it is SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999 on the supply side rather than a second unit, because two machines in shared air drift apart within a season and then nobody knows what the level actually is. If they are genuinely two air masses, then yes, run the meeting room lower - and the gap should be smaller than instinct suggests, because a client walks between the two rooms in seconds and a large step down reads as the meeting room being under-served rather than as thoughtful zoning. A SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 on low, or three reeds at ₹749 to ₹849, handles a closed meeting room of about 300 sq ft, while reception runs on its own. In both cases, one register. Two different fragrances between rooms a client crosses in ten seconds read as two businesses sharing a lease, and the transition itself becomes the thing they notice. Choose the register once from your three dominant client-facing materials - Mountain Breeze at ₹849, Garden Bloom at ₹799, Fresh Brew at ₹849 or Morning Freshness at ₹749 - and vary only strength. Set the meeting room's level from the client chair with the door shut, twenty minutes into a real appointment, as consultation intensity describes. Changing and trial rooms are never scented, a named seating area stays genuinely fragrance-free and is offered at booking, maternity and family sessions run with it off by default, and nothing sits near open gear cases or a cleaning bench. Fragrance is an ambience decision like lighting or seating, and SOSA makes no claim that it affects bookings, enquiries, conversion, package value or spend. It works alongside ventilation, cleaning, fabric care and humidity control, never instead of them. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Only if they are genuinely two air masses. Run the register in the meeting room alone for a day, then walk into reception from outside - if you can smell it there, they are one air mass and two settings are impossible. Connected: the longer room sets the level for both, low.
Connected floor: one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, single setting, key-locked. Genuinely separate rooms: a SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 or three reeds at ₹749 to ₹849 each.

A connected reception, consultation and lounge floor of ~1,500-3,000 sq ft
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - on one unit. In a photography studio its value is control: the key-lock holds the level a two-hour album session can live with, the 1h/4h/8h/24h timer keeps it on studio hours so the room is not saturated when the first couple arrives, and waterless output adds no moisture to backdrops, rugs and upholstery. Wall or HVAC mounted, and kept well away from open gear cases and any cleaning bench. 400ml tank, roughly 75-90 days, under 38dB.
Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar - dry, cool and architectural, which suits a studio built from timber, brick, concrete or steel and photographers whose work is textural rather than soft. ₹849 for 50ml (6-8 weeks), ₹1,349 for 130ml (14-18 weeks), three or four reeds in at the staff end of the desk. Alcohol-free, phthalate-free, six fibre reeds.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft) on a single unit, ₹11,999. In a photography studio it is bought for the key-lock that holds a level a two-hour session can live with, the 1h/4h/8h/24h timer that keeps it on studio hours, and a waterless output that adds no moisture to backdrops, rugs and upholstery. Adjustable intensity, 400ml tank running roughly 75-90 days, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, auto-stop, under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W. Freestanding, wall or HVAC mount - kept well away from open gear cases and cleaning benches. CE, RoHS and SGS certified - electrical and compliance marks only. Made in India.
Four points. The first decides whether the other three are even available to you.
1
The test
One day tells you which situation you are in
Run the register in the meeting room only - reeds make this easy - with the door in its normal position, for a full working day. Then leave the building, stand outside five minutes so your nose resets, walk into reception and pay attention. If it is there, you have one air mass. Check the air conditioning too: rooms on the same supply and return are connected regardless of doors, and a gap under a door is not a seal. Genuine separation means its own return, a full-height door and a ceiling that goes to slab.
Test: run it in one room for a day, then walk into the other from outside.
2
Connected
The long-occupancy room sets the level, and sets it low
The asymmetry only runs one way. A reception slightly quieter than you would have chosen costs nothing, while a meeting room slightly strong is working on someone for two hours. So the floor runs at the meeting room's setting. One SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is built for this - one machine, one setting, key-locked so nobody reinstates the difference by hand - and above about 3,000 sq ft of one volume, Angaan at ₹25,999 on the supply side rather than a second unit.
Rule: never two machines in one air mass. They drift apart inside a season.
3
Separate
If they are two rooms, the gap should be small
Yes, run the meeting room lower - but less far below reception than instinct suggests. A client crosses between them in seconds, and a large step down reads as the meeting room being under-served rather than as deliberate zoning. One step, not three. A SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 on low or three reeds at ₹749 to ₹849 covers a closed room of about 300 sq ft while reception runs independently.
Rule: one step down between adjoining rooms, not a cliff.
4
Identity
One register, whatever the answer on intensity
Two different fragrances between rooms a client crosses in ten seconds read as two businesses sharing a lease, and the changeover becomes the noticeable event rather than either room. Choose once from your three dominant materials - Mountain Breeze at ₹849, Garden Bloom at ₹799, Fresh Brew at ₹849, Morning Freshness at ₹749 - and vary strength alone. Changing rooms are never scented and nothing sits near open gear.
Rule: strength is the only variable. Identity never is.
The SOSA principle
Studios buy a second machine to solve what is actually an air-movement problem. If the two rooms share air, no equipment on the market will hold two different intensities between them.
Test for one air mass or two first. Connected means the long-occupancy room sets the level for both, low. Separate means one step down, not three.
The architectural register: Mountain Breeze - Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar at ₹849. Dry and cool, and the right answer where the studio is built from timber, brick, concrete or steel.
The physical question, then the preference question.

Meeting room versus reception intensity
The question
The answer
What decides whether two settings are possible?
Whether the rooms are one air mass or two. Run the register in the meeting room alone for a day, then walk into reception from outside - if it is there, they are connected and no equipment will separate them.
What counts as genuinely separate?
Its own supply and return, a full-height door and a ceiling that goes to slab. Two rooms on the same AC run are connected whether or not there is a door, and a gap under a door is not a seal.
What if they share air?
The long-occupancy room sets the level for both, and sets it low. One SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, single setting, key-locked. Above about 3,000 sq ft of one volume, Angaan at ₹25,999 on the supply side rather than a second unit.
What if they are genuinely separate?
Run the meeting room one step lower, not three. A SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 on low, or three reeds at ₹749-849, covers a closed room of about 300 sq ft while reception runs independently.
Should the register differ too?
No. Two fragrances between rooms a client crosses in ten seconds read as two businesses sharing a lease, and the changeover becomes the thing they notice. Vary strength only.
One machine for the client-facing floor: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - waterless, so nothing damp settles on backdrops, rugs or upholstery; key-locked at a level a two-hour session can live with, timed to studio hours, and mounted well away from any gear bench.
One register, the client-facing zone, set from the furthest chair
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 waterless, key-locked and timed to studio hours; reeds from ₹749 as the register. Send the floor plan with the changing room and the gear store marked and we will return it with the placement.
Five registers, matched to five kinds of studio, with the rule that travels alongside each. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The SOSA photography studio specification
Which register belongs in which studio, and what carries it
A connected reception, consultation and lounge floor of ~1,500-3,000 sq ft
Wall or HVAC mounted away from any gear bench; level set from the furthest chair at the end of the longest session, then key-locked; timer on studio hours
A SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is the water-based rung for one enclosed room of roughly 270-320 sq ft in a dry studio, and a Boond (₹899) for a small consultation cabin; both run on the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from ₹299), which is not reed diffuser oil and is not interchangeable with it. Above about 3,000 sq ft of one connected volume the step is one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) on the duct, not a second Vaayu. Changing rooms are never scented, and nothing is placed where clients undress or where a maternity or family session is being shot without the client being asked first. Keep any machine well away from open gear cases, a lens or cleaning bench and anywhere sensors are handled, and never mount one above a workstation - this is a placement precaution, not a claim about equipment damage. A named seating area is kept genuinely fragrance-free and offered rather than waiting to be asked. Fragrance is an ambience decision like lighting or seating: it does not remove or reduce anything in the air, and SOSA makes no claim that it affects bookings, enquiries, conversion, package value, upsell or spend. It works alongside ventilation, cleaning, fabric care and humidity control, never instead of them. Ask for a studio scenting plan and send the floor plan with the changing room and the gear store marked.

A note from Sonal
People ask me this as a taste question and it is usually a plumbing question. Before anything else, find out whether the two rooms share air - run the register in one for a day, then walk into the other from outside. Half the studios that ask me about two intensities have one air mass and did not know it.
If they are connected, the long room wins and it wins low. A reception that is a little quieter than you would have picked costs you nothing. A meeting room that is a little strong is working on somebody for two hours. That asymmetry decides it, every time, and it is why I sell one machine for a connected floor rather than two.
And keep one register regardless. Two fragrances across ten seconds of walking reads as two businesses. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 or Garden Bloom at ₹799, one Vaayu at ₹11,999 across the floor. Changing rooms are never scented, a named seat stays fragrance-free, nothing sits near open gear, and I make no claim that any of it affects bookings, enquiries, conversion, package value or spend. It works alongside ventilation, cleaning and fabric care, never instead of them. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Should my client meeting room have a different fragrance intensity from reception?
Only if the two rooms are genuinely separate air masses. If they share air, two different intensities are physically impossible whatever equipment you buy, and the longer-occupancy room sets the level for both. If they are separate, run the meeting room one step lower, not three.
How do I test whether two rooms share air?
Run your register in the meeting room only, with the door in its normal position, for a full working day. Then leave the building, stand outside for five minutes so your nose resets, walk into reception and pay attention. If you can smell it there, they are one air mass.
What counts as two genuinely separate rooms?
Its own supply and return, a full-height door and a ceiling that goes up to slab rather than stopping at a false ceiling. Two rooms on the same air conditioning run are connected whether or not there is a door between them, and the gap under a door is not a seal.
Why does the longer room set the level when rooms are connected?
Because the asymmetry runs one way. A reception slightly quieter than you would have chosen costs nothing, while a meeting room slightly strong is working on somebody for two hours. So the connected floor runs at the meeting room's setting.
Should the two rooms use different fragrances as well as different strengths?
No. A client crosses between them in about ten seconds, and two registers over that distance read as two businesses sharing a lease, with the changeover becoming the noticeable event. Choose one register from your three dominant client-facing materials and vary only the strength.
Locked at the level the longest session allows: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - 1000m³ on one unit, adjustable intensity, 1h/4h/8h/24h timer, key-lock and auto-stop, under 38dB, waterless.
SOSA — Studio Scentingwhether a meeting room should differ in intensity from reception
Only if they are genuinely two air masses. Test it: run the register in the meeting room alone for a day, then walk into reception from outside. Connected means one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) at a single setting decided by the longer-occupancy room, or Angaan (₹25,999) above about 3,000 sq ft. Separate means a SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) or three reeds at ₹749 to ₹849 in the meeting room, one step lower than reception. One register either way. Changing rooms are never scented, a named seat stays fragrance-free, and nothing sits near open gear. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.
Facts verified 11 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting roughly 75-90 days depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification - electrical and compliance marks only. Being waterless it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is a 500ml water-based ultrasonic diffuser for a single room of roughly 270-320 sq ft, and the SOSA Boond (₹899) is its compact equivalent; both use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (15ml from ₹299, 100ml ₹999, 300ml ₹1,799), made for ultrasonic diffusers and not reed diffuser oil. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with a 50ml bottle lasting 6-8 weeks and a 130ml bottle 14-18 weeks, and 300ml and 500ml refills at ₹2,399 and ₹3,499: Morning Freshness (₹749 / ₹1,249), Garden Bloom (₹799 / ₹1,299), Evening Calm (₹799 / ₹1,299), Mountain Breeze (₹849 / ₹1,349) and Fresh Brew (₹849 / ₹1,349), with the Fresh & Grounded duo (₹1,548 / ₹2,548) and the Warmth & Bloom duo (₹1,598 / ₹2,598). Ambient fragrance is an interior and hospitality decision only. It does not remove, neutralise or reduce anything in the air and does not purify air, and SOSA makes no claim that it affects bookings, enquiries, conversion, package value, upsell, retention or spend, or that it influences any client decision. It is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning, fabric and upholstery care or humidity control - a studio with a persistent stale or musty smell has a source to find and fix first. Changing rooms are left unscented, and on maternity and family sessions the scent is switched off by default and offered rather than assumed, because heightened smell sensitivity and nausea are common in pregnancy. A named seating area is kept genuinely fragrance-free and offered at booking. As a placement precaution rather than a claim about equipment damage, keep any diffuser well away from open gear cases, a lens or cleaning bench and anywhere sensors are handled, and do not mount one above a workstation. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
