The instinct is to scale intensity with square footage. The better variable is how long people stay in the room.
Quick answers — read this first
Should different store sizes use the same fragrance at different intensities? Same fragrance, yes. But intensity should follow room use rather than store size - a consultation cabin takes the same low level in a small store as in a large one.

Does a bigger store need a stronger setting? No. It needs more provisions, because a machine cannot cross a closed door and a larger store has more separated spaces. Strength is not the variable.

What sets the level in a given room? How long people stay in it. Intensity runs inversely to exposure time, so a room where somebody sits for an hour takes a lower level than a floor people pass through.
The short answer
Short answer: Same register, and intensity by room use rather than store size. Bigger stores need more provisions, not stronger ones.
The pick: the SOSA Safar (₹3,999) as the flagship delivery gift; volume gifts from ₹299; reed diffusers from ₹749; the Vaayu (₹11,999) for your own premises.
Planning volumes? WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 - tell us the customer moment, per-unit band and quantity and we will quote and build the programme.
Customer gifting that compounds - the SOSA method at a glanceStep 1 - gift the moment: delivery day, possession, checkout, milestone purchaseStep 2 - set the per-unit band: ₹299 to ₹3,999 by customer valueStep 3 - brand the gesture: your card, your story, our fragranceStep 4 - pilot small, then scale to 50, 100, 500 unitsWhatsApp the bulk desk for volume pricing
A customer gift works when it survives the drive home - sweets vanish in a day and keychains join a drawer, but a fragrance is used daily in the customer's own car or living room, replaying your brand at every use. The method: gift the milestone moment, set the per-unit band by customer value, brand the gesture with your card, pilot and scale. This guide walks the exact play, with real SOSA options at every band.
Straight answer
Should different store sizes use the same fragrance at different intensities?
Same fragrance: yes, settled. But size is the wrong axis for intensity, and using it produces two errors at once. The right variable is how a room is used - specifically how long people stay in it - because intensity runs inversely to exposure time. So a consultation cabin takes the same low level whether it sits inside a 500 square foot boutique or a 5,000 square foot showroom, and a trading floor takes the working level at either size. A cabin is a cabin. The first error from scaling by size is thinking a bigger store needs a stronger setting. It does not - it needs more provisions, because a machine cannot cross a closed door and a larger store has more separated spaces. Strength is not the missing ingredient; coverage of zones is. The second is thinking a small store can run everything at one level. It cannot, if it has a cabin behind a door - that room still holds somebody for an hour and still needs the lower setting. Scale the number of provisions with size. Set each one by use. Hotel Collection from ₹299, SOSA Megh ₹3,499, SOSA Boond ₹799. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Quick answer: same register, and intensity by use. A cabin is a cabin at any store size.
The gift most business readers of this guide pilot first: the SOSA Safar - rechargeable waterless car diffuser, three hotel-inspired scents in the box, used by the customer every single day - at ₹3,999 per unit. Volume gifts from ₹299; reeds from ₹749. Or WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 for a bulk quote.

Yes to the same fragrance - but size is the wrong axis for intensity

The first half of this question has a settled answer and the second half has a widely believed wrong one, so it is worth separating them. Same fragrance across every store: yes, without qualification. The register is the asset, it should be identical in every branch and every room, and it should be varied only in level. Customers of premium brands travel, and a difference between branches reads as an inconsistency rather than as thoughtful local variation. That part is not in dispute. The second half - that intensity should scale with store size - is intuitive and wrong, and using size as the axis produces two errors at the same time. The correct variable is how the room is used, and specifically how long people stay in it, because intensity should be set inversely to exposure time. A customer moving through a trading floor for ten or fifteen minutes and a family sitting in a consultation room for an hour or two are two entirely different exposure problems, and they want two different settings regardless of how many square feet surround them. So a consultation cabin takes the same low level whether it sits inside a 500 square foot boutique or a 5,000 square foot showroom. A trading floor takes the working level at either size. A bridal room takes the lowest level in the building at either size. A cabin is a cabin. Now the first error that size-based thinking produces: the belief that a larger store needs a stronger setting. It does not. What a larger store needs is more provisions, because a machine distributes through connected moving air and cannot cross a closed door, and a larger store almost always has more separated spaces - more cabins, an office, an accounts room, a strongroom lobby, sometimes another floor. Coverage of zones is the missing ingredient, not strength. This matters commercially, because the wrong diagnosis leads to an upgrade that does not fix anything: a bigger machine on the shop floor of a store whose problem is three unserved cabins produces a stronger shop floor and three cabins that are exactly as they were. The correct response is more provisions, and the extra ones are usually cheap - reeds at Rs 749 to Rs 849 with three to four months from a bottle and refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml, which hold a low continuous level with nothing to switch on. The second error runs the other way: the belief that a small store can run everything at one level because it is small. It cannot, if it has a room behind a door. A cabin in a compact boutique still holds somebody for an hour with the least air movement in the building, and still needs the lower setting. In fact small stores are more likely to get this wrong, because the whole space feels like one room and the cabin is treated as part of it - and because in a compact store the machine tends to end up on the counter, where the socket is, producing the strongest air in the building exactly where a staff member stands all day and where every customer leans in over a tray. So the working model for a group with stores of different sizes is: scale the number of provisions with size and complexity, and set each provision by the use of the room it serves. In practice that produces a simple table that can be written once and applied everywhere. Entrance and circulation: the working level, and never stronger than the floor - the entrance is where a customer's nose is unadapted and where the whole assessment happens in the first six seconds, so it needs accuracy rather than strength. Trading floor: the working level. Any room behind a door where people sit: lower. Bridal and long-appointment rooms: lowest in the building. Staff quarters, store rooms and utility areas: nothing at all. That table is portable across a 500 square foot boutique and a 5,000 square foot showroom, and it is far more useful than a rule based on area. There is one way in which size legitimately enters, and it is about hardware class rather than intensity. A larger open floor needs a machine capable of covering it, because reeds work by passive evaporation at a fixed rate and an open floor above roughly 1,000 square feet replaces its air faster than they can supply it. So the Boond at Rs 799 suits a small room, the Sukoon at Rs 1,799 a compact floor or a large cabin, the Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank a substantial floor - the larger tank mattering for refill frequency rather than reach - and the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 a large open showroom, waterless with no tank at all, coverage up to 1,000 square metres or roughly 10,700 square feet, with Bluetooth app and timer control. But note that this is about which unit can serve a space at all, not about running it harder. And buying up is not neutral: a machine covering up to 1,000 square metres placed in a 500 square foot shop is roughly twenty times the coverage the room can use, and the practical consequence of over-capacity in a small space is a hotspot rather than a better atmosphere. Two further rules apply at every size. Run continuously at a low setting rather than in strong bursts, because bursts produce a swing between too much and nothing, and in a small room that swing is more noticeable while in a large one a burst released during a still period simply stays where it was released. And lower every level in humid months, because humid air carries fragrance more slowly and clears it less readily, so a setting judged well in a dry month reads considerably heavier in a wet one - a change of level, never a change of register. Judge each level by having somebody who does not work in that building walk in from the street at the busiest hour and read the first three or four seconds: clean is right, scented is too high. Nobody inside can do it, because everybody adapts to a steady background within about an hour of arriving and stops perceiving it, which is also why staff requests to increase a setting are honest, near-universal and almost always wrong. On register, Quiet Luxury, with white tea, bergamot and cedar, is the safest across a mixed estate; White Tea Serenity, with white tea, aloe and cedar, is the softest and is the correct partner in enclosed rooms, being the same family read quieter; Forest Suite, with cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves, suits timber-led stores; Old-World Glamour, with amber, violet and woods, suits warm gold-led floors and should be kept out of small rooms; Warm Welcome, with citrus, floral and sandalwood, is an entrance register; Tea Garden, with jasmine, green tea and white tea, is a soft green-floral; and Lobby Bar, with citrus, pepper and amber, is characterful and suits circulation. Machines take the water-based Hotel Collection at three to six drops per tank with a rinse between scents, never reed oil, which can damage them. Fix sources at every size: the pantry is never scented at any time, since cooking smell is aerosolised oil and extraction is the answer; washrooms need working extracts; and unserviced air conditioning will be smelled - and in a small store there is nowhere for any of it to hide. Staff should have a physical off switch and never have to justify using it. We make no claim that fragrance affects mood, comfort, dwell time, purchase behaviour or spend. The seven registers are Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, and they are SOSA's own interpretations - we are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Volume pricing is quoted against the specification on WhatsApp.

Why this works
The right axis
1 Same register everywhere - that part is settled 2 Intensity follows room use, not store size 3 A cabin is a cabin whether the store is 500 or 5,000 sq ft 4 Bigger stores need more provisions, not stronger ones
The flagship delivery gift: the SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 - a rechargeable waterless car diffuser with three hotel-inspired scents in the box. Per-unit gifts from ₹299; volume pricing on WhatsApp.
01
Use is the axis, not area
Intensity runs inversely to exposure time
A customer moving through a floor for fifteen minutes and a family seated for two hours are different problems, and they want different settings regardless of the square footage around them.
Tip: A cabin is a cabin at 500 sq ft or 5,000.
02
Bigger means more, not stronger
More provisions, because doors stop machines
A bigger machine on the floor of a store whose problem is three unserved cabins produces a stronger floor and three cabins exactly as they were. The extra provisions are usually cheap.
03
And small does not mean uniform
A compact store with a cabin still needs two levels
Small stores get this wrong more often, because the whole space feels like one room - and because the machine ends up on the counter, where the socket is and where staff stand all day.
Tip: Write the table once: entrance, floor, rooms, nothing for staff areas.
The SOSA principle
Coverage of zones is the missing ingredient.
Strength almost never is.

Use decides the level, not floor area

The first half is settled: the same register in every store, varied only in level, because the register is the asset and customers of premium brands travel. The second half - that intensity should scale with store size - is intuitive and wrong, and produces two errors at once. The correct variable is how the room is used, specifically how long people stay in it, because intensity runs inversely to exposure time. A customer moving through a floor for fifteen minutes and a family seated for two hours are different problems wanting different settings regardless of the square footage around them. So a consultation cabin takes the same low level in a 500 square foot boutique as in a 5,000 square foot showroom; a trading floor takes the working level at either size; a bridal room takes the lowest level in the building at either size. The first error is believing a larger store needs a stronger setting. It needs more provisions, because a machine cannot cross a closed door and a larger store has more separated spaces - more cabins, an office, an accounts room, a strongroom lobby, sometimes another floor. Coverage of zones is the missing ingredient, not strength, and the wrong diagnosis leads to an upgrade that fixes nothing: a bigger machine on a floor whose problem is three unserved cabins produces a stronger floor and three unchanged cabins. The extra provisions are usually cheap - reeds from Rs 749, three to four months a bottle, holding a low continuous level with nothing to switch on. The second error runs the other way: that a small store can run everything at one level. It cannot, if it has a room behind a door, and small stores get this wrong more often because the whole space feels like one room and because the machine ends up on the counter, where the socket is and where staff stand all day. So: scale the number of provisions with size and complexity, and set each by the use of the room it serves. That produces a portable table - entrance and circulation at the working level and never stronger than the floor, since the entrance holds the only unadapted nose; trading floor at the working level; rooms behind doors lower; bridal and long-appointment rooms lowest; staff quarters, stores and utility areas nothing. Size enters legitimately only as hardware class: reeds cannot carry an open floor above roughly 1,000 square feet, so SOSA Boond Rs 799 for a small room, SOSA Sukoon Rs 1,799 for a compact floor or large cabin, SOSA Megh Rs 3,499 for a substantial floor, SOSA Vaayu Rs 11,999 with coverage to 1,000 m² for a large open showroom - and buying up is not neutral, since over-capacity in a small room makes a hotspot. Run continuously at every size, and lower every level in humid months. From Rs 299 for 15ml. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards. Volume pricing is quoted on WhatsApp.

The SOSA business gifting edit

Whatever your business gifts, the logic is the same: gift the milestone moment, set the per-unit band by customer value, keep the register gentle and crowd-safe, and brand the gesture with your card rather than your logo on the product. Every SOSA fragrance is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so every customer gift quietly gives twice. Here is the full business range by per-unit band.

Honest notes for business gifters: customer taste varies, so volume programmes should run gentle, crowd-tested registers - fresh, clean and lightly floral scents are received well across every profile, and space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) avoid the personal-taste risk of skin perfume entirely. Listed prices are per-unit store prices; volume pricing, pilot batches, branded cards and custom hamper builds are quoted on WhatsApp - and signature-scent development for your brand is a consultation with our perfumer, not an off-the-shelf item, so timelines are discussed case by case. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with any hotel brand. Ultrasonic diffusers use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil - the two are not interchangeable. All personal fragrances are alcohol-free and IFRA-compliant. WhatsApp bulk desk: +91 96192 18531. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

ISIPCA
Versailles
A note from Sonal

Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.

I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.

And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

Should different store sizes use the same fragrance at different intensities?
Same fragrance, yes. But intensity should follow room use rather than store size - a consultation cabin takes the same low level at any store size.
Does a larger store need a stronger setting?
No. It needs more provisions, because a machine cannot cross a closed door and a larger store has more separated spaces.
Can a small store run one level throughout?
Not if it has a room behind a door. That room still holds somebody for an hour with the least air movement, and still needs the lower setting.
Where does store size legitimately matter?
In hardware class. Reeds cannot carry an open floor above roughly 1,000 square feet, so a larger floor needs a machine capable of covering it.
Is a bigger machine always safer?
No. Over-capacity in a small room produces a hotspot rather than a better atmosphere. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the customer-gifting advice applies whatever your business finally buys.

Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
