In most rooms this is a question of size and budget. In a bathroom, one factor overrides the rest: humidity. Because the room is already damp, the systems that add no moisture win — and the passive reed usually wins outright.

The reason is physics, not price. A reed and the waterless Vaayu both add zero moisture to the air. An ultrasonic diffuser, by design, mists water.
