This is the specification page rather than the advice page. If you live in a cooled home full of wood, textiles and things that should not be misted, there are three or four numbers that decide whether a particular machine belongs in it. Here they are, with the honest limits attached, so you can judge it rather than take our word for it.
Quick answers — read this first
Is the SOSA Vaayu suitable for an air-conditioned luxury home? Yes, for three specific reasons. It is waterless: it nebulises pure fragrance oil with no water and no heat, so it adds no humidity to a house you are paying an air conditioner to dry, holds no standing water, and leaves no damp film on wooden flooring, veneer, art or textiles. It runs under 38dB and draws 5W, so it is inaudible under a split unit and costs roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour schedule. And it covers 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, from one point, freestanding, wall mounted or HVAC mounted. It is ₹11,999. It adds fragrance and does not remove odour.
Does the SOSA Vaayu add humidity to a room? No. It is a waterless cold-air nebuliser, which means it atomises pure fragrance oil directly, with no water and no heat involved. That is different from an ultrasonic diffuser, which mists water plus a water-based fragrance and does add humidity to the room while holding standing water in its tank. In an air-conditioned home the distinction is technical rather than cosmetic: you are running a machine specifically to remove moisture from the air, so a fragrance system that puts moisture back is working against it.
Will a SOSA Vaayu leave residue on wooden floors or art? No. There is no water and no heat in the system, so there is no damp film, no oily settling on a console or a mirror, and nothing to mark wooden flooring, veneer, textiles or framed art. That matters most in exactly the kind of house this question comes from - a cooled home with a lot of wood, upholstery and pieces that should not be misted. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215mm, weighs 0.9kg, and can stand, wall mount above eye level or mount to ductwork, so it does not have to occupy a surface at all.
The short answer
Short answer: yes, for three specific reasons. It is waterless, so it adds no humidity to a house you are cooling and drying, holds no standing water and leaves no residue on wood, veneer, art or textiles. It runs under 38dB and draws 5W, so it is inaudible under a split unit and costs about 1.5 units of electricity a month. And it covers 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, from one point, freestanding, wall mounted or HVAC mounted. It is a fragrance machine, not an air purifier, and it adds fragrance rather than removing odour.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, 1000m³, 400ml tank up to about 75 days, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock, CE, RoHS and SGS certified, made in India.
Next step: tell us your floor size, ceiling heights and whether the house is ducted, and we will confirm whether one machine covers it before you buy - ask us what fits your home.
And the limits, stated plainly: it is a fragrance machine, not an air purifier. It adds fragrance and does not remove odour. A single volume much beyond 2,000-3,000 sq ft needs a larger machine rather than this one turned up.
What makes the Vaayu the right or wrong machine for a cooled home?
Three specifications decide it, and one honest limit closes it. First, it is waterless. It nebulises pure fragrance oil with no water and no heat anywhere in the system, so it adds no humidity to the room, there is no tank of standing water sitting in a cold house, and there is nothing to descale. That is the single most relevant fact in a house being deliberately cooled and dried, and it is also why there is no residue: nothing settles on wooden flooring, veneer, a console, a mirror, upholstery or framed art, because nothing wet is leaving the machine. Second, it is quiet and cheap to run.Under 38dB means it disappears under the sound of a split unit; you will not hear it from a sofa or a bed. It draws 5W on DC 12V/1A, which is roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule, and its 400ml tank of pure fragrance oil runs up to about 75 days depending on intensity and hours, so about five fills a year. There is no water in the system, so there is nothing to descale and no standing water to go stale. Third, it covers the right amount of air and can be put where the air is. It is rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, so it is a whole-floor machine rather than a room gadget, and at 165 x 80.5 x 215mm and 0.9kg it can be freestanding, wall mounted above eye level, or HVAC mounted to ductwork. It has auto-stop and a key-lock, which matters in a home with children, and it is CE, RoHS and SGS certified and made in India. Now the limits. It is not an air purifier and makes no health claim. a scent machine adds fragrance molecules alongside whatever is already in the air and does not remove, neutralise or capture any of it. And a single volume much larger than 2,000-3,000 sq ft needs a bigger machine rather than this one turned up. SOSA's hotel-inspired fragrances are our own original interpretations of a style of scenting, composed in our own studio. SOSA is an independent Indian brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel or hotel group. A free home scenting plan will confirm the sizing, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Waterless, so no humidity and no residue in a cooled house. Under 38dB and 5W, so inaudible and cheap. 1000m³ from one point, freestanding, wall or HVAC mounted. Rs 11,999. Not a purifier, and it adds fragrance rather than removing odour.
The three numbers that matter in a cooled home: waterless (no humidity added, no residue), under 38dB and 5W (inaudible under a split unit, about 1.5 units a month), and 1000m³ of coverage from one point. The SOSA Vaayu is ₹11,999.
One machine, described honestly. Everything below is from the live product page rather than from an adjective, so you can decide whether it belongs in your house on the numbers.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser at ₹11,999. 1000m³ coverage, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml refillable tank of pure fragrance oil lasting up to about 75 days. Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W, 165 x 80.5 x 215mm, 0.9kg. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India.
No water and no heat, so no humidity is added to a house you are paying to dry, there is no standing water in a tank, nothing needs descaling, and nothing settles on wooden flooring, veneer, upholstery, a console or framed art.
Auto-stop and a key-lock, and three mounting options - freestanding, wall mounted above eye level, or mounted to ductwork where the house is ducted - so it can sit where the air is rather than where the console has space.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank lasting up to about 75 days, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers with adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Waterless, so no moisture added to a room you are keeping cool and dry, and no standing water in a tank. Made in India.
The three specifications that decide it for a cooled home
Three specifications carry the whole answer for a cooled home. Read them as facts to check rather than claims to accept, and the fourth section states the limits plainly.
1
Waterless, and what follows from it
No humidity, no standing water, no residue
This is the specification that matters most in an air-conditioned house, and it is a genuine technical difference rather than a marketing distinction. An ultrasonic diffuser vibrates a plate to throw a fine mist of water plus a water-based fragrance into the room. It adds humidity by design, it holds a tank of standing water, and over time it wants descaling. A nebuliser like the Vaayu atomises pure fragrance oil directly, with no water and no heat anywhere in the system. In a house where an air conditioner is running specifically to condense moisture out of the air, adding moisture back with a fragrance product is working against yourself. Three practical consequences follow. Nothing damp is added to the room. There is no standing water sitting in a cold room to go stale, which also means nothing to descale. And nothing settles: no film on wooden flooring, veneer, a console, a mirror, upholstery or framed art, which is the objection people raise most often in a house full of pieces they care about.
Tip: if a house is being deliberately dried, the fragrance system should not be adding water to it.
The Vaayu takes pure fragrance oil in its own 400ml tank, which lasts up to about 75 days depending on intensity and hours.
Under 38dB, 5W, 0.9kg, and about 1.5 units of electricity a month
A machine in a considered home has to be forgettable, and the numbers here are the ones to check. It runs under 38dB, which is below a fridge and well under the indoor unit of a split AC, so in a cooled living room or on a sleeping floor you genuinely will not hear it. It draws 5W on DC 12V at 1A, which works out at roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule - a rounding error on an Indian summer bill dominated by the compressors. It measures 165 x 80.5 x 215mm and weighs 0.9kg, so it is not a piece of furniture and it does not need a dedicated surface. Running cost beyond electricity is fragrance: a 400ml tank of pure oil lasting up to about 75 days works out at roughly five fills a year, fewer days per fill if you run high or long. There is no water in the system, so there is no descaling, no filter to replace and no consumable other than the oil itself.
Auto-stop and a key-lock mean it can be left running in a house with children and staff without anybody adjusting it.
1000m³ from one point, and three ways to get it onto the air path
It is rated to 1000 cubic metres, which the product page describes as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. That makes it a whole-floor machine rather than a room device, and in a cooled home the recirculating air helps it reach the whole of that volume provided it is placed on the return-air path. Three mounting options make that practical. Freestanding on a surface, as long as it has about a foot of clear air and is not tucked behind a lamp or a curtain. Wall mounted above eye level, which is what we recommend in a small or busy room and in a house with small children. Or HVAC mounted to ductwork, which in a ducted home is the best option available, because it puts fragrance into the air the house is already distributing and nothing has to stand anywhere. Where a single volume is genuinely much larger than 2,000-3,000 sq ft, this is the wrong machine and we will say so - the answer there is one bigger machine on the air handling, not this one at maximum.
Tip: in a ducted home, mounting to the duct beats every position in every room.
1000m³, freestanding, wall or HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS certified, made in India.
In a house full of wood, textiles and things somebody chose carefully, the most important specification on a diffuser is the one about what it does not put into the room.
No water, no heat, no dampness, no residue. Everything else is a preference.
The specification in one line: Waterless, 1000m³ (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank up to about 75 days, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock. ₹11,999.
Here is where it fits and where it does not, stated as plainly as we can. We would rather lose a sale than have a machine in the wrong house.
The SOSA plan
Where the Vaayu fits in a cooled home, and where it does not
What you are actually dealing with
What fixes it
A cooled flat, floor or villa zone up to about 2,000-3,000 sq ft
The right machine. 1000m³ from one point on the return-air path, waterless, under 38dB, 5W, with app timers and adjustable intensity. ₹11,999. View →
A home full of wood, veneer, upholstery and framed art
The right machine, specifically because it is waterless. No moisture added, no standing water, no damp film settling on any of it. View →
A ducted home where nothing should stand on a console
HVAC mount it. The fragrance goes into the air the house already distributes, so every room the system serves gets the same character at the same level. View →
A house that smells stale, or a single volume far larger than 3,000 sq ft
Not yet, and not this. Ventilate daily and have the coil, pan and filters cleaned first, because fragrance adds and never removes. A much larger single volume needs a bigger machine on the air handling.
If the question behind your question is whether any machine works with the AC running, can a scent machine work effectively in an air-conditioned home is the verdict with the four conditions and the settings. If you have a large or fully ducted house, the best fragrance system for a fully air-conditioned villa covers sizing by air volume and when a bigger machine is the honest answer. And the broader question is answered in why your house doesn't smell fresh even after cleaning. On what to put in it, in a cold house: On the fragrance itself, a cold house is a specific brief. Cold air flattens a composition and shortens its opening, so the profiles that survive are the ones with structure rather than sparkle: white tea and green tea, cedar, vetiver and light woods, fig, soft citrus, clean musks, a dry mineral note. Those read as air, space and order, which is precisely what a recirculating house is short of. What fails is anything sweet and gourmand - vanilla, caramel, cocoa, heavy amber. In a cold, closed room sweetness does not lift, it settles, and it goes cloying by the second hour. Big ouds and very heavy florals are beautiful compositions in the wrong volume of air. And use one fragrance across the connected floor rather than a different one in every room, because in a house where the air is constantly recirculating, three scents do not stay in three rooms.
And the honest limit: It is a fragrance machine, not an air purifier. It adds fragrance and does not remove odour, and a much larger single volume needs a bigger machine rather than this one turned up.
The SOSA specification for an air-conditioned home
One machine, and the case for it in a cooled home rests on three verifiable specifications rather than on adjectives: waterless, under 38dB at 5W, and 1000m³ of coverage from a point you can choose freely because it mounts three ways. Made in India, CE, RoHS and SGS certified, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The SOSA air-conditioned home specification
Air the house, clean the AC, then one machine on the return-air path
An air-conditioned home or floor of up to about 2,000-3,000 sq ft of connected space
1000m³ coverage, waterless so no moisture is added to a room you are keeping cool and dry, 400ml tank up to about 75 days, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers and adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock, freestanding, wall or HVAC mounted
Two things we will always tell you before you buy. A scent machine does not remove odour molecules. It adds fragrance molecules alongside them. Nothing about diffusing a fragrance breaks down, neutralises, captures or cancels what is already in the air, and any brand telling you otherwise is overselling a fragrance product. Run a diffuser in a house that has had no fresh air for a fortnight and a coil that has not been cleaned in two years, and you get both at once, which is genuinely worse than either alone. One line worth being plain about: a fragrance machine is a fragrance machine. It is not an air purifier. It does not filter, disinfect, dehumidify or remove anything from the air, and it makes no health claim of any kind. If a single volume in your home is much larger than 2,000-3,000 sq ft, this is not the machine and we will say so. SOSA's hotel-inspired fragrances are our own original interpretations of a style of scenting, composed in our own studio. SOSA is an independent Indian brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel or hotel group. Ask us what fits your home and we will size it from your plan.

A note from Sonal
This question usually comes from somebody with a house they have thought about carefully - wooden floors, veneer, textiles, a few pieces of art - who has been put off diffusers by the memory of a misting one leaving a film on a table. That is a fair objection, and it is the reason the Vaayu is the machine I recommend for these homes. It is a nebuliser. There is no water and no heat in it at all, so there is nothing wet leaving the machine to settle on anything.
The rest of the case is unromantic and easy to check. Under 38dB, so you will not hear it under a split unit. 5W, so it costs about one and a half units of electricity a month. A 400ml tank of pure oil lasting up to about seventy-five days, which is roughly five fills a year. 1000m³ of coverage, which is a whole floor rather than a room. And it will wall mount or go onto a duct, so it does not have to occupy a console you have already styled.
And the limits, because I would rather say them here than have you find them later. If a single volume in your home is much bigger than 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, this is the wrong machine and I will tell you so. Frequently asked questions
Is the SOSA Vaayu suitable for an air-conditioned luxury home?
Yes, for three reasons. It is waterless, so it adds no humidity to a house you are paying to cool and dry, holds no standing water and leaves no residue on wooden flooring, veneer, upholstery or framed art. It runs under 38dB and draws 5W, so it is inaudible under a split unit and costs roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour schedule. And it covers 1000 cubic metres, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, from one point, freestanding, wall mounted or HVAC mounted. It is Rs 11,999. It adds fragrance and does not remove odour.
Does it add humidity or leave residue in the room?
Because an ultrasonic diffuser works by misting water into the room, so it adds humidity and keeps standing water in its tank, which is the opposite of what you want in a house you are deliberately cooling and drying. The SOSA Vaayu (Rs 11,999) is a waterless nebuliser: it atomises pure fragrance oil with no water and no heat, so it adds no moisture, has no tank of standing water, and leaves no damp film on wood, veneer, art or fabric. In an air-conditioned home that is a genuine technical difference rather than a marketing one.
How loud is it next to an air conditioner?
Quieter than the air conditioner it is sitting near. The SOSA Vaayu runs under 38dB, which is below the noise of a fridge and well below the indoor unit of a split AC, so in a cooled bedroom or living room you are not adding anything you can hear. It draws 5W, has auto-stop and a key-lock, and can be freestanding, wall mounted or HVAC mounted, so it does not have to occupy a console or a bedside table.
What does it cost to run for a year?
Two things: fragrance and electricity. The 400ml tank lasts up to about 75 days depending on intensity and run hours, so a typical home is looking at roughly five fills a year, and fewer days per fill at higher intensity or longer hours. Electricity is negligible, since the machine draws 5W, which is around 1.5 units a month on a ten-hour daily schedule. There is no water in the system, so there is nothing to descale and no standing water to go stale in a cold room.
What are the full SOSA Vaayu specifications?
The SOSA Vaayu is Rs 11,999. It is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000 cubic metres, described by the manufacturer as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It takes pure fragrance oil in a 400ml refillable tank lasting up to about 75 days depending on intensity and run hours. Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, 1h, 4h, 8h and 24h timers with adjustable intensity, under 38dB, DC 12V at 1A drawing 5W, 165 x 80.5 x 215mm and 0.9kg, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock, CE, RoHS and SGS certified, made in India.
Three ways to install it: Freestanding, wall mounted above eye level, or HVAC mounted to ductwork. 165 x 80.5 x 215mm, 0.9kg. ₹11,999.

The SOSA Vaayu is ₹11,999, covers 1000m³ or about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, and is waterless, so it adds no moisture to a house you are paying to keep cool and dry and keeps no standing water in a tank. It adds fragrance to air that is already clear; it does not remove a stale smell, and we will not tell you it does. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
