At 1,500 sq ft with display, seating, fitting zones and a big stockroom, the placement question is not where the machine looks tidy. It is where the air is already going, which room it belongs to, and which of your four areas it should be kept well away from.
Quick answers — read this first
Where should the scent machine go in a 1,500 sq ft footwear store? On the entrance air path - near the door return, a supply grille, or wherever the room's air already moves - and mounted on a wall or into the HVAC rather than stood on a shelf. That is where a unit works with the building instead of against it, and where the register meets a customer as an arrival rather than a spot in the room. What it should not be is the geometric middle of the floor, which is the instinct and gives you a strong patch for whoever stands there and thin air at the edges.

Should the fitting and seating area have its own unit? No. The fitting zone wants less rather than more. It is where customers remove their own shoes onto your seating and carpet, and adding output there simply layers scent over a source you should be handling with washable covers, a cleaning rhythm and air movement. Keep the unit away from the seating and let the register reach that area at a lower level, which is the correct result rather than a compromise. And on a 1,500 sq ft connected floor a second unit is not zoning at all: two units in one volume make competing gradients rather than two zones.

Can the machine deal with the stockroom smell? No, and it should never be pointed at the stockroom door. In most footwear buildings the stockroom holds the highest density of boxes, adhesive and new rubber, and it vents onto the floor every time the door opens. That is a door, extraction and stock-rotation problem: a self-closing door, extraction where you can run one, and ideally keeping the stockroom slightly negative in pressure to the shop floor. We make no claim that any product removes, neutralises or absorbs an odour. Fix the door first, then place the unit.
The short answer
Short answer: On the entrance air path, mounted on a wall or into the HVAC, where the building's air already moves. Not in the middle of the floor, not over the fitting seating, and never aimed at the stockroom door. At 1,500 sq ft of connected retail floor one correctly placed unit is the whole answer, and a second unit would compete rather than extend coverage.
The pick: One SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for the connected floor - rated to 1000m³, waterless, wall or HVAC mountable, with adjustable intensity, trading-hour timers and a key-lock. One unit, not one per zone.
Next step: Send the plan with the door swing, the grilles and the stockroom door marked and we will place it for you - ask for a store scenting plan.
Where the air already goesEntrance air path first - work with the buildingWall or HVAC mount, not a shelf in the middleKeep it away from the fitting seatingNever aim it at the stockroom doorOne connected volume takes exactly one unit
Placement is an airflow decision before it is a design decision. Find where air already moves through the store, and put the unit there rather than where the plan looks balanced.
Straight answer
Where does the scent machine actually go in a 1,500 sq ft store with four distinct areas?
Start with the building rather than the plan. A diffuser does not push scent across a room; it releases it into air that is already moving, and the whole placement question is about finding that movement and joining it. In a 1,500 sq ft store the strongest and most reliable movement is at the entrance - the door opening and closing, the return path, and usually a supply grille or curtain nearby - so that is where the unit goes, mounted on a wall or into the HVAC rather than standing on a shelf. Two things follow from that. First, the register arrives as an arrival: a customer meets it walking in, then stops noticing it within a minute, which is exactly the behaviour you want. Second, the rest of the floor is served by the air that is already circulating, which is far more even than anything a machine can throw. The common instinct - putting it in the geometric middle of the shop, often on the cash desk - fails on both counts: it makes a strong patch around whoever stands there, usually your own staff for nine hours, and leaves the perimeter thin. Now the areas you keep it away from. The fitting and seating zone wants less, not more. That is where customers remove their own shoes onto your seating and carpet, and that is a cleaning problem - washable covers, a rhythm, air movement - not a fragrance problem; adding output there gives you two smells rather than one solved one. The stockroom is the one that matters most and the one a diffuser cannot help with at all. It holds the highest density of boxes, adhesive and new rubber in the building and vents onto your floor every time the door opens. Fix it as a building problem: a self-closing door, extraction where you can run one, ideally keeping the stockroom slightly negative in pressure to the shop floor, and stock kept moving. Never aim a unit at that door, and never try to solve the stockroom from the shop floor - and we make no claim that any SOSA product removes, neutralises or absorbs an odour. On hardware: 1,500 sq ft of connected retail floor is where a SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 genuinely earns its place, rated to 1000m³, waterless so nothing damp lands near leather and boxes, under 38dB, with timers matched to trading hours and a key-lock so the level cannot drift. One unit, not four. A second unit belongs to a second volume of air, never a second corner of the same room. Ask for a store scenting plan and send the plan with the grilles marked.
Entrance air path, wall or HVAC mounted, away from the seating and never at the stockroom door. One connected volume, one unit, one level.
For 1,500 sq ft of connected retail floor the unit is one SOSA Vaayu: rated to 1000m³, waterless, under 38dB, 5W, wall or HVAC mountable, with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity and a key-lock. ₹11,999.

What a 1,500 sq ft floor should buy

At 1,500 sq ft you are exactly at the point where a machine starts to make sense rather than being over-specified, so it is worth being precise: this is one unit for one connected volume, not one per area. If your floor were 600 sq ft the honest answer would be reeds by zone or a Sukoon near the entrance. At 1,500 sq ft connected, a single correctly placed Vaayu carries the whole space.

SOSA Vaayu
One unit for the connected floor
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, so a 1,500 sq ft floor sits comfortably inside it. Wall and HVAC mounting is the feature that matters here: it puts the output on the air path at height rather than on a shelf, and it keeps the unit out of reach of customers and stock.

Four areas, and what each one needs

Your four areas want four different things, and only one of them wants a machine.

1
The entrance and display floor
This is where the unit goes, and it goes on the wall
The entrance is where air is genuinely in motion - the door cycling, the return path, usually a supply grille or air curtain within a few metres - and a diffuser placed into moving air distributes far better than one placed into still air in the middle of a room. Mount it on a wall or into the HVAC at height rather than standing it on a counter: you get better throw across a deep floor, you keep it away from hands and stock, and you stop it becoming a strong patch beside whoever is standing at the desk. Keep it just off the direct blast of a supply grille, which will strip the register rather than carry it, and just inside the door rather than in the threshold itself where half the output leaves with the next customer. On a 1,500 sq ft connected floor this single position serves display, walkways and perimeter together, because the building is doing the distribution for you.
Tip: stand where you plan to mount it during trading hours and watch a dust mote or a receipt - if nothing moves, neither will your register.
SOSA Vaayu
Wall and HVAC mounting on the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is what makes this position possible.

2
The seating and fitting zones
These want less, not more - and they are a cleaning job first
The fitting area is where your customers take their own shoes off onto your seating and your carpet, several hundred times a week in a busy store. It is a genuine source, and it is handled with washable covers, a cleaning rhythm that matches the trade rather than the calendar, hard surfaces where you can specify them, and air movement across the zone. What it is not handled with is more fragrance. Adding output over the seating gives you a stronger version of both smells at once, and it puts the highest level of scent precisely where a customer is sitting still with their nose closest to their own feet. Keep the unit away, let the register reach the seating at a naturally lower level, and treat that as the design rather than the shortfall. If a private fitting room is genuinely its own closed volume, a reed in there is proportionate and a second machine is not.
Tip: specify washable seat covers and a rotation for them at fit-out - it is the cheapest thing on this page and the one that matters most in the fitting zone.

3
The large stockroom
A door and extraction problem, and it cannot be solved from the shop floor
In most footwear buildings the strongest smell starts behind the stockroom door. It is where boxes, tissue, adhesive and new rubber are densest, often with the least air movement in the building, and every time the door opens some of that air arrives on your floor. Treat it as construction rather than fragrance. Specify a self-closing door at fit-out, run extraction from the stockroom if the shell allows it, and aim to keep the stockroom slightly negative in pressure to the shop floor so air moves in rather than out. Keep stock rotating and boxes closed. Give staff a rule about propping the door open during deliveries, because that is when most of it travels. And never aim your diffuser at that door, which stirs the air you are trying to keep still. If you genuinely want the stockroom itself to smell better, that is a separate volume with its own answer - and we make no claim that any product removes or neutralises what is in there.
Tip: if you would not want a customer standing in the stockroom doorway, that is your finding - and no diffuser position fixes it.
SOSA Vaayu
Fix the door first. Then one Vaayu on the entrance path carries the shop floor.

The SOSA principle
A diffuser does not push scent across a room. It joins air that is already moving - so placement is really a question about your building.
Entrance path, mounted at height, away from the seating, never at the stockroom door. One volume, one unit.

The SOSA plan
Where it goes, and where it does not
Area The rule
SOSA VaayuEntrance and air path
The unit goes here, mounted on a wall or into the HVAC, just inside the door and just off the direct blast of a grille.
Display floor
Served by the air already circulating. No second unit - two units in one connected volume compete rather than combine.
Seating and fitting
Keep the unit away. Washable covers, a cleaning rhythm and air movement do the work here; more fragrance does not.
Stockroom
Self-closing door, extraction, slightly negative to the shop floor, stock rotating. Never aim a diffuser at that door.

The zoning version of this question is in one machine or multiple zones at 1,500 sq ft, and the stockroom itself in stopping stockroom smells entering the showroom. SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with any hotel or footwear brand named for reference.

The stockroom is a door, extraction and stock-rotation problem and cannot be solved from the shop floor. A note from Sonal

Almost everyone asks me this question holding a floor plan, and almost everyone has already pencilled the machine into the middle of the shop, because that is where it looks fair. It is the one position I argue against every time. The middle of a room is where your own staff stand all day, and it is the part of the floor that needs the least help, because air is moving least there.

Where I want it is the entrance path, mounted, just inside the door and just off the direct blast of a grille, so the register arrives with the customer and the building does the distribution. At 1,500 sq ft of connected floor one Vaayu at ₹11,999 is genuinely the right size, and the temptation to add a second for the fitting zone should be resisted - that area wants less scent and more cleaning.

The limits, and they matter most in a new fit-out. This is a brand and interior decision, and we make no claim that it increases sales, footfall, browsing time or influences what anyone buys. It never masks a smell that has a source: your stockroom door, your box handling and your seating covers come first, and new adhesive fades with air changes and weeks. Staff can veto the level. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Where should the scent machine go in a 1,500 sq ft footwear store?
On the entrance air path, mounted on a wall or into the HVAC, just inside the door and just off the direct blast of a supply grille. That is where the building's air is already moving, so the register is distributed for you. Not the middle of the floor, which makes a strong patch around whoever stands there and leaves the perimeter thin.
Do the fitting and seating zones need their own machine?
No. They want less rather than more. That area is where customers remove their own shoes onto your seating and carpet, which is handled with washable covers, a cleaning rhythm and air movement rather than with extra fragrance. Keep the unit away and let the register reach the seating at a naturally lower level - that is the design, not a shortfall.
Can the machine deal with the stockroom?
No, and it should never be aimed at the stockroom door. The stockroom holds the densest boxes, adhesive and new rubber in the building and vents onto the floor whenever the door opens. Specify a self-closing door, run extraction if the shell allows it, keep the stockroom slightly negative in pressure to the shop floor, and keep stock moving. We make no claim that any product removes or neutralises an odour.
Is one machine enough for 1,500 sq ft?
Yes, if it is one connected volume. The Vaayu is rated to 1000m3, roughly 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, so 1,500 sq ft sits comfortably inside it. A second unit belongs to a second volume of air - a separate floor or a wing on its own air conditioning - never a second corner of the same room, where two units make competing gradients rather than combined coverage.
Should placement be decided before the fit-out?
Yes, because the two things that matter most are building decisions: a power point at mounting height on the entrance wall or an HVAC tie-in, and a self-closing stockroom door with extraction. Both are cheap at drawing stage and awkward afterwards. Mark them on the plan alongside the grilles and the door swing.
