I have spent a lot of time trying to work out what people are actually chasing when they say they want their bathroom to smell "like a five-star hotel." It is almost never a specific perfume. When I ask them to describe it, they say things like fresh, dry, clean, calm, expensive — feelings, not notes. And that tells you where the money should go. The scent is the last five per cent, not the first.
The method
Five steps to a hotel-clean bathroom, in the order hotels actually do them
1. Extract, then scent. Run the exhaust fan during and for ten minutes after every shower, or crack a window. A hotel bathroom is engineered to pull damp air out fast — that dryness is what your nose reads as clean.
2. Kill odour at source. Keep the WC trap and floor drain clean, wash bath mats often, and never let a damp towel sit balled up. No fragrance masks a drainage or damp problem — fix that first, always.
3. Dry the wet surfaces. Squeegee the glass, wipe the basin. Standing water and wet grout are where mustiness begins.
4. Dress the room. Folded fresh towels, a tidy vanity, one plant if you like. The eye and nose agree on what "cared-for" looks like.

Notice that four of those five steps have nothing to do with buying fragrance. That is deliberate.
