The counting rule has not changed since the studio: one machine per door you close and then live behind. What changes in a 3BHK is that the rule now returns four, and four is the first number in this range where I would not simply tell you to buy it. Three Sukoons at ₹5,697 is the answer for most households, two at ₹3,798 is the honest floor, and the fourth room is a decision rather than an arithmetic result.
Quick answers — read this first
The number: three Sukoons for a standard 3BHK — ₹5,697, nine 15ml Hotel Collection scents included.

The floor: two at ₹3,798 — the living/dining and the master bedroom.

The rule: one per door you close and live behind. A 3BHK has four such doors, and the fourth is the one worth arguing about.
The short answer
Short answer: three Sukoons for a typical 3BHK — ₹5,697 — because the flat contains four enclosed rooms you live in and the fourth is usually the least used. A 3BHK runs 1,400–1,800 sq ft holding a 350–500 sq ft living/dining, a 140–180 sq ft master bedroom, a 110–140 sq ft second bedroom and a 100–130 sq ft third bedroom. Each Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft of connected air.
The pick: two at ₹3,798 first — the living/dining and the master bedroom, six 15ml Hotel Collection scents included — then a third at ₹1,899 for the bedroom that is genuinely used, and a fourth at ₹7,596 only if all three bedrooms are slept or worked in. A reed diffuser from ₹749 covers a bedroom that is waiting.
Shop: the Sukoon (₹1,899), the Hotel Collection from ₹299, reed diffusers from ₹749, 300ml refills at ₹1,799 and the full home scenting range.
Straight answer
How many Sukoons should you buy for a 3BHK?
1. Three, for a standard 3BHK — ₹5,697. The living/dining, the master bedroom and whichever of the two remaining bedrooms somebody genuinely sleeps, studies or works in. That covers every room in the flat that holds a person who is awake.

2. Two, at ₹3,798, is the honest floor. Living/dining and master bedroom. It is a legitimate place to start rather than a legitimate place to stop, because in a four-room home it means naming two rooms you are leaving out rather than one.

3. Four, at ₹7,596, only if all three bedrooms are lived in. A machine in every enclosed room with twelve 15ml Hotel Collection bottles between them. It is complete and it is four tanks to empty, rinse and refill every week — which is a real cost that does not appear on an invoice.

4. The rule is doors, not square feet. One Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft of connected air. Your 1,400–1,800 sq ft flat is never one connected volume, so dividing the total by the coverage figure gives a number with no relationship to how the home behaves.

5. Kitchens, bathrooms, balconies and corridors still do not count. You pass through them rather than live in them. A bathroom is better served by a Boond at ₹899, and a corridor takes what it needs from the rooms either side of it.

A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: three for a standard 3BHK — ₹5,697 with nine 15ml scents included — two at ₹3,798 as the honest floor, and four at ₹7,596 only if all three bedrooms are genuinely lived in. The rule is one machine per door you close and live behind; kitchens, bathrooms and corridors are not rooms for this purpose.
Three Sukoons
The answer for a standard 3BHK
Three Sukoons ₹5,697
Three machines at ₹1,899 each — the living/dining, the master bedroom and whichever second room is genuinely lived in. Each covers 270–320 sq ft and each arrives with three 15ml Hotel Collection scents of your choice, so nine bottles arrive with the three machines: a different fragrance behind every door you cross daily, and a wardrobe left over for the seasons. This is the recommendation for the great majority of Indian 3BHKs.

The counting rule at four doors

I have given the same rule at every home size in this cluster and it has needed no adjustment until now. Walk your flat in the evening and count the doors you shut behind you and then stay behind. That number is your machine count. In a 3BHK it returns four — and four is the first result where the rule needs a second sentence attached to it, because the fourth door in an Indian 3BHK is very often a room nobody has decided about yet.

1
WHAT COUNTS
A door you close, and a room you then occupy while awake
Both halves of that sentence do work. A door you close creates an enclosed air mass, which is the only unit of measurement a diffuser understands — fragrance disperses into the air available to it and stops at anything solid. A room you then occupy is what makes it worth scenting. In a 3BHK the rooms that pass both tests are the living/dining at 350–500 sq ft, the master bedroom at 140–180, the second bedroom at 110–140 and the third at 100–130. Four doors, four rooms — and three of those four sit comfortably inside a single Sukoon's 270–320 sq ft rating, so no bedroom ever needs two machines.
2
WHAT DOES NOT COUNT
Kitchens, bathrooms, balconies, the corridor and the puja room
The kitchen fails the second test: you are in it, but you are working in it, and fragrance layered over active cooking is a fight you lose. Run the extractor and let the living/dining machine take the room back afterwards. Bathrooms fail on size — a 500ml unit rated for 270–320 sq ft in a bathroom is absurd, and a Boond at ₹899 is the right tool. Balconies are outdoors. A corridor is a passage that borrows from the rooms on either side. And a small puja room or a utility area is an air pocket rather than a volume you sit in.
The rule, in one line: count the doors you close and then live behind. In a 3BHK that is four, which is ₹7,596 — and three at ₹5,697 is the version I actually recommend, because the fourth room usually fails the second half of the test.
3
WHY FOUR IS THE FIRST NUMBER I ARGUE WITH
Two of your rooms are decisions rather than results
In a studio the count was one and there was nothing to discuss. In a 1BHK it was two, in a 2BHK three, and in both cases every room the rule returned was a room somebody used. A 3BHK is the first home where the arithmetic outruns the household. Very few Indian 3BHKs have three bedrooms all in daily use — one is usually a guest room used a handful of times a year, a store with a bed in it, or a room being kept for a parent who visits. Buying that room a ₹1,899 machine is spending on your floor plan rather than on your own experience, and the honest recommendation is three machines and a reed diffuser from ₹749 in the room that waits.

How many, by 3BHK size and layout

3BHK is a label rather than a floor plan, and the same three bedrooms behave completely differently depending on who is asleep in them. Find the row that describes your flat and your household honestly rather than aspirationally — the number in the middle column is what I would tell you across a table, not what a price list would.

The 3BHK count
How many Sukoons, by size, layout and who lives there
Your 3BHK How many Where they go Cost
Compact 3BHK around 1,400 sq ft, third bedroom used as a store Two or three Living/dining and master first; the second bedroom if anyone uses it ₹3,798–₹5,697
Standard family flat, 1,500–1,700 sq ft, two bedrooms slept in ★ Three Living/dining, master bedroom, second bedroom — nine 15ml scents included ₹5,697
Family of four or five, all three bedrooms slept in nightly Four One per bedroom plus the living/dining — twelve 15ml scents between them ₹7,596
1,700–1,800 sq ft with a genuinely open living-dining and entrance Three, placed carefully Bedrooms on Sukoons; the open volume centrally placed, or a Vaayu if it defeats one machine ₹5,697 or ₹17,696
One bedroom is a home office you sit in all day Three The office earns its machine on hours awake, not on floor area ₹5,697
Couple in a 3BHK, out of the house from morning to evening Two Master bedroom and living/dining, both on the 2H and 4H timers ₹3,798

Three machines, nine scents, and the bottle that runs them all
The SOSA principle
Do not divide 1,600 square feet by a coverage figure. Count the doors you close.
The rule returns four in this home. The household usually returns three — and the gap between those two numbers is the room nobody has decided about.

The order to buy them in

₹5,697 in one order is a real amount of money for something nobody strictly needs, and I would far rather you arrived at three machines across four months than talked yourself out of two this week. Staging works unusually cleanly in this range because nothing you buy first is superseded by anything that comes later. The second Sukoon is the identical machine at the identical ₹1,899 and so is the third and fourth; every 15ml, 100ml and 300ml bottle fits every tank in the flat; a 300ml 300ml refill bought for one machine simply serves all of them. There is no starter model to replace and no upgrade path to regret — you are buying a third of the setup, then another third, then the last one.

The order follows hours rather than floor area. Buy the first machine for the living/dining, because that is where most of your waking hours happen, it is the room the front door opens into, and it is the largest volume in the flat. Buy the second within a few weeks for the master bedroom, where a fragrance you chose does its most private work and where the 2H timer earns its place. Buy the third for whichever remaining bedroom holds the most conscious hours — and note that this is often not the second bedroom by size but the one being used as a study or a child's room, because fragrance you are awake for is fragrance you experience. Then stop and live with it for a month before deciding about the fourth.

What I would not do is substitute hardware for rooms in the middle of that sequence. A Megh at ₹3,499 is a fine machine whose 6-litre tank solves refill frequency in one large space, and it still occupies exactly one room. The Vaayu at ₹11,999 covers up to 1000m³ of connected air and cannot open a bedroom door — it earns a place in a 3BHK only in a genuinely open living-dining, and even then alongside Sukoons rather than instead of them. If the budget is fixed, two Sukoons at ₹3,798 plus a reed diffuser duo set at ₹1,598 in two waiting bedrooms is a better-scented 3BHK than any single machine at any price, and it costs ₹5,396.

The rule counts doors. The household counts people who are awake — and in a 3BHK those two numbers are usually four and three.

The SOSA 3BHK edit
Buy in this order, at whatever pace suits
Buy What it adds When Price
1. Three Sukoons The three rooms with the most conscious hours in them; nine 15ml scents between them The answer for a standard 3BHK — start with two at ₹3,798 if you must ₹5,697
2. 300ml refill Your everyday scent across every tank, at about ₹6 per ml After a month, once one of the nine included bottles has won ₹1,799
3. A fourth Sukoon The last bedroom; twelve 15ml scents across the flat Only when all three bedrooms are genuinely slept or worked in ₹1,899
4. Reed diffuser A quiet, plug-free presence in a bedroom still waiting for a machine As a stopgap, or permanently in a room nobody sleeps in from ₹749
5. Boond 300ml A bathroom, on the fragrance bottles you already own Only after every room you live in has a machine ₹899
Not this: a fifth Sukoon A duplicate machine in a flat with four enclosed rooms Never. If four tanks feel like work, the answer is a Vaayu, not a fifth ₹1,899
Honest notes for buyers: the Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft, which is why a studio needs exactly one and a 3BHK needs three or a Vaayu instead. Ultrasonic diffusers are water-based and add a little humidity to the room, which is a benefit in an AC-dry home and a consideration in a damp coastal one; they run SOSA's own water-based Hotel Collection fragrance and nothing else, because thicker essential and carrier oils clog the 2.4MHz misting plate. The Vaayu and the HVAC systems are waterless nebulisers running undiluted oil — a different technology, not a bigger Sukoon, and the better choice for long daily runs across connected space. Fragrance layers on top of clean air; it does not replace an extractor fan, an open window or a bin that gets emptied. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Two Sukoons
The honest starting point
Two Sukoons ₹3,798
A 3BHK holds four enclosed rooms that matter — a 350–500 sq ft living/dining, a 140–180 sq ft master bedroom, a 110–140 sq ft second bedroom and a 100–130 sq ft third bedroom. One Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft, which is one of them. Two machines at ₹3,798 take the living/dining and the master bedroom, and because every Sukoon ships with three 15ml Hotel Collection scents you land with six bottles between them. In a four-room home this is the floor rather than the answer.

A note from Sonal

People expect me to answer this question with a coverage table and are usually a little disappointed when I answer it with a walk around their own flat. But the table is the thing that misleads. A coverage figure describes connected air, and an Indian 3BHK is one of the least connected homes ever built — four rooms, four doors, and those doors are shut for most of the hours that matter.

So the rule stays the same: count the doors you close and then live behind. It gets a studio to one, a 1BHK to two, a 2BHK to three and a 3BHK to four. The difference here is that I will argue with my own rule for the first time, because a great many 3BHKs have a third bedroom that is really storage with a mattress in it. Three machines and a reed diffuser is a better-spent ₹6,446 than four machines and a room that evaporates slowly into an empty bed. Buy for the household you have on an ordinary Wednesday, not for the one that arrives at Diwali.

Everything is made and supported from Pune, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a home that smells like somewhere you chose; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

How many Sukoons should you buy for a 3BHK?
Three for a standard 3BHK — ₹5,697 — one each for the living/dining, the master bedroom and whichever second room is genuinely used, with nine 15ml Hotel Collection scents included between them. Two at ₹3,798 is the honest floor and four at ₹7,596 is right only if all three bedrooms are lived in.
How do you work out how many diffusers a home needs?
Count the doors you close and then live behind. Each Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft of connected air, so the count follows enclosed rooms rather than the total — a 1,400–1,800 sq ft 3BHK is four rooms, not one volume, and a closed door stops fragrance completely.
Do all three bedrooms in a 3BHK need their own diffuser?
Only the ones somebody is awake in. A bedroom slept in nightly, a child's room or a home office earns a Sukoon at ₹1,899; a guest room used three or four times a year is better served by a reed diffuser from ₹749, with the difference spent on fragrance you smell every day.
Do the kitchen and bathrooms need diffusers in a 3BHK?
No. Fragrance layers on top of clean air rather than replacing an extractor fan, so a kitchen is handled by ventilation and the living/dining machine afterwards. A bathroom is far too small for a 500ml unit rated at 270–320 sq ft — a Boond at ₹899 is the right size.
Is four Sukoons too many for a 3BHK?
Not if all four rooms are used — it is ₹7,596 with twelve 15ml Hotel Collection bottles included. It is simply four tanks to empty, rinse and refill every week, and at that point the better question is whether your living-dining wants a waterless Vaayu instead of a fourth ultrasonic machine.
