A home signature is one scent, sized and zoned across the house — not a different machine humming behind every door. The question people ask me is "how many diffusers?", and they're already imagining one per room. Almost always the honest answer is fewer than that: one system sized to the open space, and a quiet reed in each closed room.

Quick answer

Count air volume, not doors. One sized system covers a connected open-plan floor; a Vaayu is rated up to 1000 cubic metres.

Scent doesn't cross a shut door. Bedrooms and bathrooms behind closed doors each need their own low source — usually a reed.

A typical 3BHK is one machine plus three or four reeds — not five separate diffusers on five refill schedules.

The short version
Short answer: Run one sized system for the open front-of-house and layer one passive reed per closed room, all in the same scent family. That gives you a consistent signature with far less hardware than a diffuser per room.
The pick: SOSA Vaayu for the living space; Garden Bloom or another SOSA reed in each bedroom; Aangan HVAC for a large villa.
The maths, honestly
Work out the number in five steps — and you'll almost always land on fewer machines than you expected.

1. Measure the connected air, not the rooms. Most Indian homes have one large open volume — living, dining and often the passage — that behaves as a single space. A Vaayu is rated up to 1000 cubic metres, which comfortably carries that whole front-of-house on one machine.

2. Count the closed doors. Fragrance does not travel through a shut bedroom or bathroom door. Every room that stays closed is its own little zone that needs a source of its own.

3. Give each closed room a passive reed. A single 50ml reed on a shelf is enough for a bedroom or study — no power, no refilling every week, no clash.

4. Keep kitchen and bath on their own logic. Don't force the living-room signature into a cooking or washing space. Air them, then use a small fresh note where it's wanted.

5. For a villa, go ducted. Above roughly one floor of open volume, one plug-in machine can't keep up — an Aangan or Meenar through the HVAC replaces a whole shelf of gadgets.

Rule of thumb: one sized system for the open space, one reed per closed door. A 2BHK flat is often a Vaayu plus two reeds; a 3–4BHK, a Vaayu plus three or four; a villa, an HVAC unit plus a reed in each guest room.

The SOSA principle
A house doesn't smell expensive because there are more machines — it smells expensive because there's one scent, sized right.
Five mismatched diffusers give you five smells and five clashes at the doorways. One sized system and a handful of matching reeds give you a home that reads as a single, considered place.
How many diffusers do I need for a whole house?
Think in air volume, not room count. For most Indian homes, one sized system covers the open front-of-house — a Vaayu handles up to 1000 cubic metres — and you add one passive reed per closed room (bedrooms, study, bathrooms). So a typical 3BHK is often one machine plus three or four reeds, not five separate diffusers.
Is one diffuser enough for a whole house?
One diffuser can cover an open-plan floor if it is sized for the volume — a waterless Vaayu is rated up to 1000 cubic metres. But scent does not travel through closed doors, so bedrooms and bathrooms behind shut doors will need their own quiet source, usually a reed.
Should I put a diffuser in every room?
No. A diffuser in every room means different strengths, different refill schedules and often clashing smells at the thresholds. It is better to run one sized system for the connected living space and layer gentle reeds of the same scent family in the closed rooms.
How many reed diffusers do I need per room?
One 50ml reed suits a small-to-medium closed room such as a bedroom or study. For a larger room or one you want a stronger throw in, use a 130ml reed or add a few extra reeds to the bundle. Keep them in the same scent family across the house so nothing clashes.
Do I need a diffuser in the kitchen and bathroom too?
Keep the kitchen and bathrooms on their own logic rather than forcing the house signature into them. Fix ventilation and clean at source first, then a small reed or a Boond handles a bathroom. The kitchen usually needs airflow and a fresh citrus note rather than the main living-room scent.
Size it once, properly
One sized system, a few quiet reeds — and the whole house on one signature.
Skip the pile of plug-ins. A Vaayu for the open floor and a reed in each closed room costs less, clashes never, and asks almost nothing of you.
