The constraint: distance. On a long or L-shaped 3,000 sq ft plan the far end will read lighter than the near end however you arrange one machine, and the honest thing is to say so rather than pretend a rating flattens a floor plate.
The three options: one machine at the entrance and accept a gradient (₹11,999); two machines at opposite ends for a genuinely even result (₹23,998); or one machine plus opening the plan and running the air conditioning, which costs nothing — a running AC is a circulation system, and it is the cheapest distribution you own.
2. Then ask the question that actually decides this: is your 3,000 sq ft compact or long? A squarish plan with a central living volume is one problem. A forty-metre single-loaded corridor with rooms off it, or an L with a turn in the middle, is a completely different one, and the difference is not visible in the square footage at all.
3. If it is long, accept that one machine gives you a gradient. The entrance will read clearly, the middle will read well, and the far bedroom will read lightly. That is not a fault in the machine and it is not fixable by turning it up — turning it up makes the entrance too strong before it makes the far end right.
4. Open the plan and run the air conditioning for those two hours, which costs nothing. A running air conditioner is a circulation system: it takes air in, moves it, and returns it, several times an hour. Doors open plus AC on turns a long flat into something much closer to one circulating volume, and it is by a distance the cheapest distribution you have.
5. If it is still uneven, buy the second machine rather than working the first one harder. Two Vaayu units at ₹23,998, one in the entrance zone and one at the far end, both on low, both running the same scent. That is the only arrangement that gives a genuinely level result across a long plate, and it redeploys to two separate listings later.
6. And do not solve this with the Aangan. At ₹25,999 it is rated to 3,000 m³ and it is built for sales galleries and clubhouses. Putting it in an 840 m³ apartment is buying three and a half times the air you have, and I would rather tell you that than sell it to you.
A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The gradient nobody will admit to
There is a sentence missing from most of what is written about scenting large apartments, and it is this: one machine in a long flat does not produce the same result at both ends of it. A coverage rating describes how much air a machine can supply with fragrance. It says nothing at all about how far that air will travel through a corridor with four doorways and a right-angle turn in it. At 2,000 sq ft you can usually ignore the difference. At 3,000 you cannot, and at 3,000 the reader is also spending real money and deserves to know what they are buying before they buy it rather than after the first viewing.
Three ways to do it, priced
The three honest arrangements for an 840 m³ apartment, with what each actually delivers and what it costs. The fourth and fifth rows are the two answers I am asked about most often and recommend least often, and they are in the table so that the reasons are visible rather than implied.
| Arrangement | Cost | What it actually gives you | When it is the right call |
|---|---|---|---|
| One Vaayu + doors open + AC running ★ | ₹11,999 | A near-even result in most compact and moderately spread plans, because the air conditioning is doing the transport rather than the machine | The default, and the one to try first. The distribution half of it is free and you were running the AC anyway |
| Two Vaayu, opposite ends | ₹23,998 | A genuinely level plate end to end, both on low, both running the same scent. The only arrangement that removes the gradient rather than reducing it | A long single corridor, an L-shaped plan with a turn, or a flat you will show forty times. Both units redeploy to other listings later |
| One Vaayu at the entrance, gradient accepted | ₹11,999 | A clear entrance, a good middle and a light far end. Honest, unglamorous, and perfectly adequate for a viewing where the buyer spends most of their time in the living volume | A tight budget, a flat that is squarish, or a first purchase you intend to move between listings anyway |
| One Aangan | ₹25,999 | Up to 3,000 m³ against your 840 — three and a half times the air you have, in a machine designed to be mounted into ducting you probably do not have | A sales gallery or a clubhouse. Not this flat, and recommending it here would be overselling |
| Vaayu + a Sukoon at the far end | ₹13,898 | Coverage at the far end, and 30–50 ml of water an hour added to a flat that may be closed between viewings. Two different scent behaviours in one property | An occupied, air-conditioned flat where the far room is a study somebody uses. Not a closed listing, and not in monsoon |
| Reed diffusers through the flat | from ₹749 each | A level that takes 24–72 hours to establish and cannot be adjusted, turned down or turned off before the buyer arrives | A listing shown repeatedly over months, where they are genuinely good. Never for a viewing on Saturday |

The air conditioner is your distribution system
Start with how to use the air conditioning properly, because this is the part of the page worth the most and it appears nowhere on a specification sheet. Switch the cooling on three hours before the viewing rather than two, and the diffuser at two. The extra hour is for the flat to reach temperature, which matters for its own reasons — a premium apartment that is four degrees too warm when a buyer walks in has already lost something no fragrance recovers — and it also means that when the machine starts, the circulation is established rather than starting alongside it. With a split system, run the units in the main living volume and in the far zone rather than only the one nearest you, and set the fan to a medium speed with the louvres wide rather than aimed at a wall. With a ducted system you are in better shape than anybody else on this page: the return path is a whole-flat circulation loop and the machine only has to reach it. Place the Vaayu a metre or so to the side of a return grille rather than under a supply vent — you want the system to collect the output, not to blow across it. And if the flat has been closed for weeks, run the AC with the windows shut for the first hour with nothing else on, then check the air yourself before you add anything to it. A system that has been standing idle in a humid city can smell of its own drain pan, and that is a fault to fix rather than a background to scent over.
Then the second-machine decision, which I would rather you made on geometry than on budget. Two Vaayu units at ₹23,998 is the arrangement for a long or L-shaped plan, and the reason to buy the second one is evenness rather than strength. Both run on low. Both run the same scent — and this matters more than it sounds, because two different compositions at opposite ends of a flat do not average into a third one, they meet somewhere in the corridor and read as two decisions rather than one property. Put the first in the entrance zone and the second at the far end of the plate, not in the middle: a machine in the middle of a long flat covers ground the first one already reached and leaves the end exactly as light as it was. The economics are also better than they look for anybody working at this level, because neither machine belongs to the flat. At 0.9 kg and 165 × 80.5 × 215 mm each, with a key-lock so they can be left in a vacant property between appointments and an auto-stop if the tank runs dry, the pair is a fixed cost that follows you to the next listing and the one after. Two machines is not two purchases per property. It is one purchase, and after the second or third listing the per-viewing arithmetic stops being a number anybody argues about. The 400ml tanks run about 75 days each, so a listing that takes a season to sell is one fill and no maintenance visits.
Then the free work, which comes first in time even though it comes last on the page, and the line this brand will not cross. The day before: open windows on opposite walls for a real cross-draught rather than one window on one side, water down every drain trap in a flat with three or four bathrooms and a utility, check the fridge and the bins, and walk the property using your nose rather than your eyes. At 3,000 sq ft there are simply more places for a smell to originate — more traps, more shafts, a bigger kitchen, usually a servant's toilet and a utility balcony that nobody has opened in a month — and the free work scales with the size in a way the machine does not. Three hours before: close up, AC on. Two hours: doors open, diffuser on low. Thirty minutes: walk the flat from the front door as the buyer will, and adjust down rather than up. On what not to use — the water-based ultrasonics put 30–50 ml an hour into a space you may be trying to dry, a reed diffuser from ₹749 needs 24 to 72 hours to establish and cannot be dialled down before a buyer arrives, and a candle at ₹379 must be attended, which rules it out of a vacant flat on insurance grounds before we even discuss the smell. SOSA does not make a room spray for the home. And the rule that outranks every other sentence here: if the flat has damp, a leak, a drain fault or smoke damage, none of this applies. Those are material facts about a property. Find them, fix them or disclose them, and scent only a listing that is genuinely sound. Nothing on this page claims fragrance affects an offer, a price or a time on market. It is presentation, alongside photography, styling and lighting.
The SOSA edit
In buying order for a 3,000 sq ft premium apartment. The first two rows are the same machine bought once or twice, and the decision between them is geometry rather than money. The last row is the one that costs nothing and does the most.
| Buy | What it is | When it earns its place | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. SOSA Vaayu ★ | Waterless nebulisation, up to 1000 m³ against your 840, 400ml for about 75 days, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38 dB, key-lock | First. Entrance zone, lowest setting, two hours out, with the doors open and the AC running | ₹11,999 |
| 2. A second Vaayu | The identical machine at the far end of the plate, on low, running the same scent as the first | If the plan is a long corridor or an L with a turn. ₹23,998 the pair, and both redeploy to other listings | ₹11,999 |
| 3. Ritz-Carlton-inspired 15ml | White tea, bergamot and cedar — quiet, clean and impossible to dislike | Always, and in both machines if you own two. Two scents in one flat read as two decisions | ₹299 |
| 4. 1 Hotels-inspired 15ml | Cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves — dry, low and the most food-tolerant of the seven | Where a 3,000 sq ft plan puts an open kitchen into the dining volume, which most new ones do | ₹299 |
| 5. 300ml refill | About ₹6 per millilitre against roughly ₹20 at 15ml, for a listing being shown week after week | Once the flat has been on the market a season and you have settled on one register | ₹1,799 |
| Not this flat: Aangan | Up to 3,000 m³, HVAC-mounted or standalone, 800ml, under 42 dB — a genuinely excellent machine | A sales gallery or a clubhouse. At 840 m³ you would be buying three and a half times the air you have | ₹25,999 |

I get asked to confirm that one machine covers 3,000 square feet, and the answer is that it covers the air and it does not always cover the distance. Eight hundred and forty cubic metres against a 1000 m³ rating is a comfortable relationship. Twenty-five metres of corridor with two turns in it is a different question entirely, and the specification sheet has nothing to say about it. I would rather write that down than let a realtor discover it at seven o'clock on a Saturday with a buyer at the door and a bedroom at the far end that smells of nothing in particular.
What I actually recommend, and what I have watched work in a lot of long Mumbai and Gurgaon flats, is the arrangement that costs the least. Open the internal doors, run the air conditioning from three hours before, put the machine on low at two hours, and let the building move the air for you. An air conditioner is a circulation system with a cooling coil in it, and using it that way is free. If the plan is genuinely long and you show the flat often, buy the second machine — but buy it for evenness rather than for strength, run both on low, and put the same scent in both. Turning one machine up has never once been the answer, and I have been asked about it more times than I can count.
Everything is made and supported from Pune, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a space that smells like somewhere considered; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.
