Part one — the two features that change a large listing, and the one that enables them
Coverage figures sell machines and control features keep hosts. If you manage a four-bedroom villa or a large open-plan floor, the daily friction is not that your fragrance is too quiet; it is that somebody has to be present for anything to happen, and that somebody is you. Every property below a certain size can be solved with bottles on shelves. Above it, the operational question takes over: can the arrival be prepared without a human, and does it survive contact with a guest? Those are the two things worth ₹11,999, and the third feature — the range of the mist — is what lets them apply to a whole floor rather than a corner of it.

The Vaayu can be set to run for a defined block before check-in and stop by itself, at an intensity you set, from a phone. In practice, hosts use the 1h or 4h timer against an expected arrival and leave it. What that removes from the week is the drive, the caretaker call, and the small anxiety of not knowing whether anybody remembered. Auto-stop matters more than it sounds: a guest should walk into a settled room rather than an actively working plume, and a machine that ends its own run gives you that without anyone timing it. The app is Bluetooth-based and there are things about it I cannot state here — platform availability and version support are questions for SOSA rather than for a blog, and I would rather say so than guess.

WHAT MAKES BOTH POSSIBLE
Undiluted oil, dry mist, and cubic volume
An ultrasonic carries fragrance in water, which caps how much fragrance any given volume of mist can hold and adds humidity as a side effect. Cold-air nebulisation carries the oil itself, dry. That is why the coverage figure is quoted as up to 1000m³ rather than in square feet — you are scenting a volume, and a room with a 3.6-metre ceiling holds far more air than the same floor plan at 2.7. Take the honest version: 2,000 sq ft at a high ceiling and 3,000 at a normal one is roughly how that 1000m³ resolves, and if your villa has a double-height living room, measure rather than assume. The dryness is the second consequence and it is a real advantage in a coastal listing during monsoon, where an ultrasonic run for hours makes rooms feel damper. It also means there is no tank of standing water to deal with between bookings.
Part two — the host's problem, and what the machine actually answers

Which is also why a single small listing rarely justifies it — one flat you can walk into does not have a consistency problem worth ₹11,999.
Part three — when this is the wrong answer
I would rather lose a sale than have this machine in a property it does not suit, so here is the case against, stated as plainly as I can. The first and most important reason to hesitate is supply. SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil. The machine ships with 400ml — four Hotel Collection cold-air fragrances at 100ml each — and at a mid intensity setting that is quoted at 90+ days per fill, so on paper you have somewhere around a year of use in the box depending on how you run it. But when it is gone, we do not at present have a bottle to sell you. That is a genuine gap in our range, of the same kind as our reed diffusers not having replacement reeds as a separate item, and I would rather name it here than let a host discover it in month eleven. If continuity of supply is a condition of your purchase, contact SOSA and ask about current refill availability before you spend anything. I will also say clearly what the answer is not: the water-based Hotel Collection sold for ultrasonic machines shares scent names with the oils in the box, and it is a different product. It is water-based, it is made for a Sukoon or a Boond, and it does not go in a Vaayu. Do not let anybody — including a product page — blur those two.
The second reason is size, and it is the commonest mismatch. Under roughly 800 to 1,000 sq ft of connected volume, this machine is more than your air needs. A 1BHK or 2BHK listing is solved properly by one or two reed diffusers at ₹749–₹849, or by a Sukoon at ₹1,899 covering 270–320 sq ft with steady, 2H and 4H timers and three fragrances in the box. That is a sixth of the money for the job you actually have, and you will not spend the first month turning the intensity down. If you are tempted towards a middle option, know that the Megh at ₹3,499 is not one: its 6L tank buys about 100 hours of runtime but it covers roughly 215 sq ft, less than the Sukoon does. It is a runtime and humidity machine and never a coverage upgrade.
The third is what the machine cannot reach. Scent does not pass through closed doors and it does not climb stairs reliably. In a villa with bedrooms shut for privacy, a single Vaayu on the ground floor scents the common volume beautifully and leaves those rooms alone — which is why most large listings end up running a hybrid: the machine on the common floor, and a reed diffuser in each bedroom and bathroom at ₹749–₹1,349 apiece. That is not a failure of the machine; it is what a floor plan does to air. And the fourth is expectation. This improves the experience of walking in, which is real, describable and worth having. It does not clean the air, remove an odour or change how anyone feels, and no one — not SOSA, not any seller — can promise you it moves a rating, a review score, a booking or an occupancy figure. If that is what you are buying, the purchase is built on something that does not exist.

The Vaayu is the most expensive thing we sell to a home, and it is the product I am most careful about. Not because I doubt it — the specification is honest, the mist is dry and fine, and in a genuinely large connected volume it does something no bottle of ours can. I am careful because it is the one where the gap between what a host imagines and what a machine does is widest, and because ₹11,999 is a serious amount of money in India.
So let me repeat the uncomfortable line rather than bury it. There is no Vaayu refill oil in our range at the moment. Four hundred millilitres comes in the box, it is quoted at 90-plus days a fill at a mid setting, and after that we currently have nothing to sell you for it. We name the missing replacement reeds in our diffuser range for the same reason. A gap you are told about is a decision you get to make; a gap you find out about is a grievance, and rightly so. Ask us where refill supply stands before you buy.
What I will defend without hesitation is the thing this machine is actually for. A guest opens a door and forms an impression in about ninety seconds, before they have seen a bedroom or read a single instruction. In a large property, making those ninety seconds identical for every guest, without you being there, is a real piece of hospitality craft. Does SOSA sell a refill oil for the Vaayu?
Not at present. The machine ships with 400ml — four Hotel Collection cold-air fragrances at 100ml each — quoted at 90+ days per fill at a mid intensity setting, and that is the whole supply available from us today. It is an honest gap and we would rather state it than let you find it later. If long-term supply matters to you, ask SOSA about current refill availability before buying. The water-based Hotel Collection sold for ultrasonic machines is not a substitute and must not be used in a Vaayu.
How does the Vaayu help if I am not at the property?
Through scheduling and the key-lock. Set the 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h timer, or use the Bluetooth app, and the machine runs before check-in and stops on its own with auto-stop — nobody has to drive out or remember anything. The key-lock then holds the intensity you chose so a guest cannot change it. Those two features, across up to 1000m³, are what a large remote listing is actually buying.
How much space does the Vaayu actually cover?
Up to 1000m³, which is roughly 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. Which end you get depends on ceiling height, because you are scenting a volume rather than a floor plan — a 3.6-metre ceiling holds a third more air than a 2.7-metre one over the same area. Measure your connected volume before buying, and remember that closed doors are walls and stairs do not carry scent reliably.
Is the Vaayu noisy or expensive to run?
It is rated under 38 dB and draws 5W on DC 12V / 1A. As arithmetic on that rating, eight hours a day is 40 watt-hours — about 0.04 units of electricity a day, roughly 1.2 units a month. That is arithmetic on a specification rather than a quoted bill, and tariffs vary by state. Electricity is not the meaningful running cost here; fragrance supply is, which is why the refill question above matters more than this one.
Will a Vaayu improve my Airbnb ratings?
No one can promise that, and we will not. There is no data linking home fragrance to ratings, review scores, bookings, occupancy or nightly rate. What is real and describable is the guest's experience of arrival — the ninety seconds after the door opens — and the consistency of making that identical for every guest without being present. That is what this machine is for, and it is all we claim for it.
