Two separate problems, and only one of them is a purchase
Most people arrive at this question having conflated two things, and separating them makes the decision much easier. Problem one is the closed smell at seven o'clock. That is caused by ten hours of near-zero air exchange in a shut flat: the low-level odours the home always produces — the bin, the drain traps, a bathroom shut with the exhaust off, textiles that hold cooking aerosols — simply stay in the same air, and there is nobody inside for the build-up to happen to. Three things, and none of them is "it is stronger". Order matters, and this is the sequence I would follow in a flat that has been shut all day. Ventilate for ten minutes on arrival while you change and put your things down.
