The variable fourth: if — and only if — somebody sleeps in the second bedroom, add a 50ml there too. A Mountain Breeze 50ml at ₹849 is the safe default when nobody has a preference, taking the total to ₹3,696. If somebody does have a preference, it is their call, not yours.
Two bathrooms or a closed kitchen? Each adds one more bottle on top — never a bigger one. Five bottles tops out at ₹4,445, six at ₹5,694, and six is the ceiling for a 2BHK.
2. The variable fourth exists only if somebody sleeps in the second bedroom. A study, a store or a treadmill corner does not qualify, however nice the room looks with a matching bottle on the shelf. If a bed is in it and a person is in the bed, add a 50ml, three reeds, and the total becomes ₹3,696.
3. If that person is not you, the scent is not your decision. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 is the safest default when nobody has stated a preference — pine, sage and cedar read as neutral rather than gendered or generational. But a child, a parent or a flatmate who states a preference should get it, even if it means buying a scent this guide would not otherwise recommend for a bedroom.
4. A second bathroom adds a fifth bottle, never a bigger fourth. Another Morning Freshness 50ml at ₹749 takes the total to ₹4,445. A closed kitchen adds a sixth — a Morning Freshness 130ml at ₹1,249 — for ₹5,694, and six is the ceiling for a 2BHK. Past that a home stops smelling of a fragrance and starts smelling of fragrance.
5. Buy the fixed three first, always. They cover the rooms that exist in every 2BHK on day one. The variable fourth can wait until you actually know who is sleeping behind that second door — and until they have told you what they like.

Why a 2BHK has a fixed part and a variable part
A 1BHK has one bedroom and the question never comes up: somebody sleeps there, full stop. A 2BHK has two, and the second one is where the certainty ends. In one flat it is a child's room with a bed used every night. In the next it is a parent's room used six months a year. In a third it is a home office with a desk, a chair and a door that stays open all day because nobody minds who overhears the calls. Same floor plan, same builder layout, three completely different answers to the only question that matters here: does anybody's pillow actually live in that room. A reed diffuser bought for a room because it has a door and a wardrobe, rather than because it has a sleeper, is a bottle bought for the wrong reason.
This is the doctrine running under the whole cluster — count doors you shut, plus one for the open zone — and in a 2BHK it produces a number that moves. The living-dining zone is always one door, or no door at all, and always earns a bottle. The master bedroom is always a shut door with a sleeper behind it, and always earns a bottle. The bathroom is always a shut door, small and visited constantly, and always earns a bottle. That is three, fixed, ₹2,847, and it is true before you have said a single word about your family's arrangement. The second bedroom is the one line item that depends on the household rather than the floor plan.
The mistake I see most in this size of home is buying for symmetry rather than for use — a bottle for the second bedroom because the master got one and it seems only fair to the room, not because a person sleeps in it. The opposite mistake is quieter but costs more in the long run: buying the right bottle for the second bedroom but choosing the scent yourself because you are the one holding the credit card. If that room belongs to a child, a parent or a flatmate, ask them first. A bedroom fragrance selected for somebody by somebody else is, in my experience, the single most commonly abandoned bottle SOSA sells — not because the scent is bad, but because it was never theirs to begin with.
The three decisions in a 2BHK
Garden Bloom 130ml₹1,299Every 2BHK, regardless of who lives in it or what the second room becomes, has a living-dining zone above 150 sq ft, a master bedroom behind a shut door, and a bathroom behind another. That is a Garden Bloom 130ml at ₹1,299, an Evening Calm 50ml at ₹799, and a Morning Freshness 50ml at ₹749. Buy these three in this order — bathroom, then master, then living-dining, if budget forces a sequence — and you have covered a real 2BHK before a single question about the second bedroom has been answered. The room-by-room plan for a 2BHK
A 2BHK runs roughly 750–1,050 sq ft carpet, but as with the 1BHK, the table below counts rooms you stand still in, not square footage. Longevity assumes the reed counts shown, a flip every three to five days, and no direct sun or draught on the bottle.
| Room | Bottle | Reeds | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living / dining (incl. open kitchen) ★ | Garden Bloom 130ml — console near the entrance side, not the far wall | All six · 14–18 weeks | ₹1,299 |
| Master bedroom ★ | Evening Calm 50ml — bedside table or dresser, not the windowsill | Three · 8–10 weeks | ₹799 |
| Second bedroom — only if slept in | Mountain Breeze 50ml, or the occupant's own choice | Three · 8–10 weeks | ₹849 or ₹0 |
| Bathroom ★ | Morning Freshness 50ml — counter beside the basin, away from the shower | Two to three · up to 12 weeks | ₹749 |
| Second bathroom (if you have one) | Another Morning Freshness 50ml — never shared with the first | Two to three · up to 12 weeks | ₹749 or ₹0 |
| Closed kitchen (if you have one) | Optional Morning Freshness 130ml — citrus is the only family that works alongside food | All six | ₹1,249 or ₹0 |
| Passage & balcony | Nothing. Transit air and outdoor air respectively; neither holds a fragrance long enough to be worth a bottle | — | ₹0 |
| Note on the ceiling: six bottles is the most a 2BHK should ever run — living-dining, master, second bedroom, two bathrooms, closed kitchen. If you find yourself reaching for a seventh, the room you are trying to scent is almost certainly a passage, a balcony, or a second bedroom nobody actually sleeps in. | |||

Reeds, flipping and where each bottle actually stands
The reed counts follow the same logic as a 1BHK, applied to one more room. Six in the living-dining zone, where people pass through and the air turns over often. Three in the master bedroom and three in the second bedroom, if it is occupied — a sealed room with a sleeper does not want six reeds, however new the bottle. Two to three in each bathroom, which is small enough that even a modest reed count carries. Start at the count you intend to keep and give it seventy-two hours before judging; the first evening is not representative, because the reeds are still drawing oil up to a steady state.
Flip the reeds saturated-end up every three to five days — the entire maintenance routine, and the one habit that separates a bottle that lasts its full fourteen weeks from one that seemed strong for a fortnight and then vanished. If the second bedroom belongs to a child, flip it on the same day you flip the master, so it does not become the bottle everyone forgets. Flipping more often buys projection and shortens the bottle; flipping less buys longevity and a whisper. Replace the reeds themselves at each refill, once they have darkened and stopped wicking cleanly.
Placement is the same discipline as any SOSA home, doubled: a metre off the floor, clear air around the bottle, out of a ceiling fan's or split AC's direct path, off the windowsill, away from the hob if the kitchen is open. In a second bedroom used by a child, this matters more, not less — keep the open bottle on a high shelf or dresser rather than a low table within reach, both for the oil itself and for the glass. In a second bedroom used seasonally by a parent, it is entirely reasonable to let the bottle run dry between visits and start fresh reeds when they arrive, rather than paying for months of scent nobody is there to notice.
What a 2BHK reed setup actually costs
The arithmetic in full, with every total checked by hand. A reed diffuser has no electricity cost and no consumable beyond the oil, so the running cost is the refill — and because the glass is designed to be refilled rather than replaced, year two costs a fraction of year one.
| Setup | What you get | Covers | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| The start | One Morning Freshness 50ml ₹749 | Bathroom only — the highest-return single bottle | ₹749 |
| The honest pair | Fresh & Grounded duo, 2 × 50ml — saves ₹50 against buying both singly | Bathroom + second bedroom (if occupied) | ₹1,548 |
| The fixed three ★ | Garden Bloom 130ml ₹1,299 + Evening Calm 50ml ₹799 + Morning Freshness 50ml ₹749 | Living-dining + master + bathroom, true of every 2BHK | ₹2,847 |
| The full 2BHK | The fixed three + Mountain Breeze 50ml ₹849, only if the second bedroom is occupied | Every room a sleeper uses | ₹3,696 |
| Running cost | A 300ml refill ₹2,399, or 500ml ₹3,499 (₹7/ml) | 500ml is ten 50ml fills — roughly ₹350 a fill | from ₹2,399 |

Every 2BHK question I get contains a small assumption I try to correct before answering: that a 2BHK simply needs "one more" of whatever a 1BHK needs. It does not. It needs the same three fixed bottles, at the same prices, doing the same jobs — and then a genuinely open question about a fourth room that might be a bedroom, might be an office, and might be neither on different days of the year.
The households that get this wrong almost never overspend on the fixed three. They overspend, or underspend awkwardly, on the second bedroom — buying a bottle for a room that is really a study, or buying the right bottle but choosing a scent that belongs to the parent rather than the child who actually sleeps there. Ask the question honestly — is anybody's pillow in this room, and if so, what do they like — and the fourth bottle answers itself.
Six bottles is as far as a 2BHK should ever go, and most never need to. Start with the fixed three at ₹2,847, add the fourth when the second bedroom is genuinely occupied, and let whoever sleeps there choose.
